Politics / Re: FG Borrows N5trn From Pension Funds by LaExpert: 11:55am On Dec 25, 2017
Poorly reported news.

That portion of the pension funds, by law, has to be invested in government bonds and TB. It wasn't borrowed by the government per se.

It is just like reporting that banks have borrowed all your money to do business when indeed, you have deposited it with them for the purpose of earning an interest.

MFM gives out cars annually to first class graduates and so many scholarships for undergraduates and to the less privileged to encourage hardwork.

Are you paying tithes the way God instructed?

Can you show me where God said tithes should be paid monetarily?

You can see how funny it is pouring old wine in new wineskin.

Use the scriptures to validate the fact that God instructed Tithes to be paid monetarily...or keep on preaching a false doctrine in disobedience.

Are you against tithing in its entirety or just against monetary tithing?

Family / Re: Do Parents Have A Say In Our Financial Matters? by LaExpert: 1:45am On Nov 27, 2017
Understand that it is a responsibility to take care of them but not an obligation ie, it is necessary but not compulsory.

If you were a man, it would have been worse cos it will deter you from having your own family and when you eventually do, your parents will see your wife as a pest forgetting that you have an obligation to take care of your family first.

You being a lady too, you should be firm with your decisions and not allow your parents manipulate you...they really should not have a say on your finances.

Bini cannot lay claim to Southern Nigeria and they know it.

Are you now countering the age long history that Oduduwa is the progenitor of Yoruba tribe? That's confusing.

There has definitely been Yoruba people before Oduduwa.

If your 'progenitor' means ancestor, I'm not countering... but if by progenitor, you mean he was the first 'Yoruba man,' yes, I'm countering it.

he was the first to rule, before him Yoruba had no king, why do you think till today they still honor him like a god?

its not subservient even your Ooni has clerified that.

Yoruba's honour Oduduwa because he was their first king and he came at a time their Oracles told them someone powerful is coming to their territory to rule them...they rightly identified Oduduwa when he came and made him king.

Before him, the Yoruba's just had mainly Baales and Baloguns.
They had other smaller kings too in other sub territories (like the Ugbo in Ondo state) but they had limited powers. Oduduwa was the first general king.

As for the bold, kindly provide a reference to what you claim the Ooni has clarified.

As it stands, the throne of the Ooni is superior to and older than that of the Oba of Bini, the Oba of Bini is a descendant of the Ooni.

However, the throne of the Ooni was from the Ogiso of Bini (the rulers in Binis first dynasty) which is no longer in existence... the banishment of Oduduwa caused the shift in power. Now, Bini has Oba, not Ogiso.

The article is faulty.

The original inhabitants of Lagos are the Eguns, Aworis and some other smaller Yoruba communities.

The Bini only came to rule at some point and left hence the reason you'll find Bini related names and history in Lagos. Even the Binis know that they cannot lay claim to Lagos.

Just like Nigeria, they had inhabitants before the Arabs then British came to rule at some point and left. That's why you'll find British history and names in many parts of Nigeria especially in Lagos. The reality is that they do not own Nigeria.

so you agreed that Yoruba is part of Bini?
No, I agree that Yorubas had a king that came from Bini.
Oduduwa wasn't the first 'Yoruba' man.

Do you agree the Bini throne is subservient to the Ooni's throne?
if you disagree, kindly state your reason(s).

yes yoruba are owned by Bini, if u want to argue let's do it without insult and with facts.

Oduduwa your first Yoruba king migrated from bini

Yes, I agree.
What's the big deal if he migrated from Bini?
Nigeria's first rulers were not Nigerians too.

He was a Bini outcast but he became the Ooni and married a Yoruba queen...that's why all Bini kings are subservient to the throne of the Ooni of Ife.

Sure, you can go ahead.

Also, be ready to forgo your course of study because you'll eventually practise as an Accountant and may NEVER practise as a biochemist again.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Economics Vs Accounting, which One Is Better In Terms Of Employment Opportunities by LaExpert: 5:09pm On Sep 12, 2017
Jarus:

Without professional qualification in accounting at least, no serious employer takes an accountant seriously.

He doesnt have any edge in accounting job over an Agric graduate that has accounting professional qualification.

An accounting graduate without professional qualifications (and not writing one) can only get accounting job in government company or tier two companies.

However, if it is not accounting job, he would be considered for general jobs (non-course specific, general graduate jobs, under-26) like a graduate of say Sociology or Political science in banks, Big 4, and other general recruiters.

Even if he gets a Big 4 job, he has to enrol for ACCA/ICAN if he is posted to Tax or Assurance/Audit. Same process a Sociology graduate that got a Big 4 Tax/Audit job will go through.

So why "waste" 4 years when someone that studied Economics and and wrote ICAN/ACCA in less than 2 years will get same job in your field, and on top of that, still available for jobs in his own field.

Your point suggests that there are more opportunities in Accounting than Economics...by the way, what are the opportunities for an Economics graduate an accounting graduate isn't eligible for?

If you observe closely, those non accounting graduates that practice as accountants via ICAN/ACCA hardly return to their core field to practice, not that they can't, they just hardly do.

Jarus:

Without professional qualification in accounting at least, no serious employer takes an accountant seriously for accounting roles.

I think it is better put that way.

At least this will curb the excesses of some people, how could just one man be having up to 50 cars and be paying nothing on those cars? How could people build houses and not pay tax on them? And the tax collector will be chasing mama Nkenchi the food vendor and Nnamdi the spare part seller, Bashiru the mechanic and Segun the tailor about? As if it the the poor man that offended the government.
Nonsense

If you look at the case of Nigeria carefully, you'll discover Nigeria is not ready for the full implementation of property tax.

Thanks for info. So sad about this. Was really hoping for this year. Do you have an idea of any departments under advisory apart from iarcs that might be in need for urgent september recruitment. Thanks again!

If you're really interested in MC, just stick with it and wait for it, it may take time though but it'll be worth it.

TA is also cool but you'll also have to wait (most likely not this year too) but the wait won't as long as MC. Audit, TRPS and IARCS are the departments that recruit frequently, so if you're hoping on getting in soon, you may opt for one of them especially Audit.

...and note that there's no 'September recruitment,' recruitment is all year round and more importantly, based on need.

lol, see my area oo

The demolition going on there is massive.. I really hope the Governor would do something about that road as quick as possible. It is not enough to pull down buildings, construct the terrible road and compensate the affected. If this demolition ever extends to Ajuwon or Akute, it will take massive rigging for APC to win any election again in Ogun state. Over 4 churches and mosques have been pulled down already.. By the time Amosun extends this to Akute and Ajuwon, UBA, FCMB, Sterling, FirstBank and some of the best schools around should get ready to count their losses..

The route of that road doesn't go through Ajuwon.

The road is for the greater good of the populace; if the road can be substantially completed within the next 24months (or before the next election), APC will 100% continue.

My point is just that Batch B17 will only go to camp after the POP of Batch B16 (stream 1&2).

Mind you, camp date (POP date) is not usually on the time table (since 2015 or 2016). Get your facts right.
It is better for people going in Batch B17 to hope on next year and maximize this period they have than for them to hope on this year and get disappointed.
