Christianity EtcRe: Where Do Atheist Belong? by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 12:43pm On Oct 11, 2012
Logicboy03: Simple, we are for ourselves and humanity.
Many atheists are secular humanists. We believe that it is up to us humans to make a better world by sharing information, love and resources.
We dont have sky daddies to bail us out wink

@Jarus.. brilliant methodical procedure right there. once stickied. it should make for excellent reference material. at least for majority of Nlers who do not want to go through the rigor of an intellectual debate. easily digested. opinions of Nlers are better informed. this is absolutely brilliant
Christianity EtcRe: Atheism: A Lie. Everybody Believes In A God. by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 1:47pm On Oct 10, 2012
How is GOD a Mystery.. at least something must exist and for lack if sufficient knowledge of its origin in entirety, cause it to be classified a Mystery.. I might be wrong there but there you have it

MacDaddy01: Spirits do not exist. No evidence.

It is like me claiming to fly. No evidence for human body flight. None.

Please, read about evolution before we discuss.
Oh spirits do exist; in varied brands too... and i do have a light-headed feeling meaning that flight is also possible cept it often ends in the nearest gutter of PHCN pole

Ihedinobi: I'm sure that you are aware that it is atheists themselves that posit that there is no such thing as God, not theists. I'm only saying that even atheists themselves give the lie to their claim with their arguments for it.
How are you sure it is GOD.. If not for the Faith Glue you would not have as much as 1% evidence to your claims..

Christianity EtcRe: Atheism: A Lie. Everybody Believes In A God. by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 12:24pm On Oct 10, 2012
The question is not whether a GOD exists but if the concept is as we make it. yes there is a cause but by infusing our sorely illiterate, incomplete and often illogical knowledge of The Cause, we create a phenomenon that is as powerful as our limited understanding (or misunderstanding as is the case). In similar vein God-believing folks are quick to label Atheist as Nothing-Believers.. I believe in Humanity and the Golden Rule and practice it under no one's instruction or biased injunctions. wink

Iliveon: Welldone guys!!! I want suggest that debaters should not be handpicked by mods but shld be picked base on votes by felloe NLers.thanks
I think it is a balanced decision to handpick the debaters.. given that a rigorous mental process was put to work to come up with the 10 wisemen, now what we need is a Shining STAR to guide them on their journey. It is the TOPICS up for debate we should be more concerned about. I want to suggest that more generic topics be debated on than than individualistic topics. by this i mean rather than say "TINUBU's Influence on ACN Congress" we can choose "GOD-FATHER INFLUENCE IN REGIONAL POLITICS" it takes away the obvious tendency to put a debater on the defensive and restrict the quality of information to one side rather than the BIG Picture

PoliticsRe: Your Take On The Calibre Of People In The Flood Committee? by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 5:21pm On Oct 09, 2012
@ torkaka. I understand your concerns and rightfully so. there is a trend of criminal mismanagement (outright stealing) of relief funds since that Police Equipment Fund Scandal and the Ikeja Bomb-blast relief exercise.. the Truth is there must be a committee for such daunting challenges, Hurricane Katrina, the Nuclear disaster and tsunami in Japan and similar disasters have benefited from the cohesion and synergy of different agencies and experience of individuals in society who are better positioned to deliver help with greater efficiency that a community leader would or a LGA chairman can. What y'all need to ask yourselves is this. Is the composition of the committee made up of such agencies and individuals. I fault the list for one simple reason. it has too many individuals whose business interests and busy schedules surely does not allow for such window for treating emergencies - perhaps they are there simply for the cash they can raise to the relief efforts.
Adding USAID and DFID is a bit tardy due to the varied scopes these agencies cover and internationally too.

What should happen in addition to a committee is a standing Think-tank gathering useful information and relief delivery experience from hundreds of similar disasters over a period of time. we have NEMA for that but recent performances has shown we still have much to learn and sadly so. given the fact that they is sufficient information on how to get it right.. well that is Nigeria for you.

The committee is usually created to facilitate a typically bureaucratic governance structures that would have hindered the relief efforts. The list is too long.
PoliticsRe: Your Take On The Calibre Of People In The Flood Committee? by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 3:09pm On Oct 09, 2012
1. Alhaji Aliko Dangote - Co-Chairman : His presence provides a sense of credibility to the entire character of the committee. He can be hugely influential in lobbying large corporates for much needed funds in relief efforts. A sensible inclusion - no mistakes here
2. Mr. Olisa Agbakoba - Co-Chairman : An inescapable inclusion. He is a tried/tested human rights activists and his presence should give the committee a human face. - no mistakes here either
3. Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr. - Chief Fund Mobilizer : Well he sure fits the bill and as Dangote' you cannot have the Goose and leave out the Gander - A politically correct inclusion given the North-South issues we have in Nigeria
4. Alhaji Karami Isiaku Rabiu - Member : If only the capacity to provide subsidized cement for reconstruction efforts, i am in full support. this BUA International oga definitely merits inclusion on this list - GEJ is starting to make sense
5. Alhaji Mohammed Indimi - Member : Well score one for this Pro-Military lobbyist and friend of elites. he is about to use his wealth in a positive way
6. Ngo Hannatu Cholum - Member: Ahhh. the gory days of Abacha must go. well she has sown some good seeds and has Nigeria at heart (in 2007) i see no value of her presence here
7. Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija - Member: Well.. she does look good and has a lot of billions in her account, why not
8. Prof. Dora Akunyili - Member : This is definitely a NO.. NO.. she was the bride in the past but unfortunately her foray into Dirty-Politics has shown her for the true spastic flippant rogue she is. perhaps Ndigbo pressure merited her posturing
9. Mr. Tony Elumelu - Member: Well what more can I say.. he has shown his worth and paid his dues - no mistakes here
10. Secretary-General, Nigerian Red Cross - Member
11. Representative of C.A.N. - Member - A Catholic Bishop rather than the emotional evangelists and prosperity preachers will do fine
12. Representative of N.S.C.I.A. - Member : Why not add Disabilities Association and perhaps Almijiris Union as well

I think this has gone long enough - Judges will not create a balance in discourse as long as they have Socio-political Affiliations and Socio-political Ideals. what we need is a scribe to turn all purposeful threads into a Case Study. Judges will simply devolve into a scenario where a whole lot of chairs will be brought into the discussion grin
PoliticsRe: Politician Advocates Outright Purchase Of Bakassi by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 10:08am On Oct 09, 2012
This is a lost cause and majorly a fault of the Nigerian Government.
1: Cameroon makes a case she has ignored for over 40 years
2: Nigeria accedes to this claim with no appeal whatsoever
3: 10 years later, logigi!! (suddenly) Nigeria realizes that she has an option to appeal the judgement but does not make any noise about it
4: After initial responses by NGOs and Activists groups, Nigeria finally concedes Bakassi to the Cameroonians, Killing any option to appeal

WTF!! angry

Gboliwe: I too have been thinking what topic to debate on in politics that wont draw blood.
I don't understand? I simply do not get it.. what draws blood signifies how deep-set the problem is. should that not be a focal point of important, a critical theme to be understood given the likes of discussants listed?? if we debate on what draws tears and pity we are no different from the average joe on the street who chews roasted corn and abuses GEJ for not according subsidies to pop-corn or some other inane issue. Let us focus on what is Immediate, Pertinent and is long-overdue

Glad this is sorted out. baseline is we must accept the TRUTH, denying it only leads to further retrogression. be it bland, negative or insulting criticism. If it is the TRUTH, then we must do something about it and FAST is way overdue. we must do something NOW. There are some positive things happening that we all appreciate. but in contrast to the overwhelming negative things overshadowing the positive, it makes good reason to face reality, deal with the problems before we are over-run completely by them. which is what a lot of Nigerians in diaspora complain about really

Ptolomeus: Take responsibility for what you said.
Then accept the divorce, right? You are saying that.
The doublespeak of Christians is really tragic and comic!
A scoundrel preaches against divorce, but he argues "spiritual reasons" for divorce!. I think that Bishop (Bishop! Alto degree in Catholicism, right?. Why not call himself Pope?) Underestimates the rest of the people.
The immorality and lack of ethics leaves a single woman with three children, leaving three children without a father ...
Surely this "Bishop" preached against Satan, but has hehco an alliance with him ...
Everything is permissible for such frauds.
My respects.
Makes you wonder how many versions of God exist right? one allows you to get a divorce, the other makes it an abomination and one does not give a hoot grin
PoliticsRe: Tribunal Declares Obanikoro’s Son Local Government Election Winner In Lagos-pm by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 6:28pm On Oct 05, 2012
take dat: Jide did not win this seat based on his dad's political machinery,he only cashed in on being a popular and likeable Lagos big boy.If his Dad had contested for that seat against him,his dad would have lost.
Unfortuantely untrue. it was not Jide's likeable personality or his popularity that won this victory.
1: Adeniji's continued incompetence in Local council activities within the Ikoyi/Obalende constituency and critical community-friendly development
2: ACN's failure to keep their promises to the masses who voted heavily and waited for over 7 years. all the Wards in ETI-OSA LGA can attest to this. and this was clearly evident.
3: Most importantly, the selfless support Jide got (in spite of his proud, inexperienced and selfish campaign) from his LGA Ward Leaders.. they fought tooth and nail (myself included) to make sure the votes were not stolen by Tinubu's Fake SSS Operatives and Armed thugs from Lagos Island

This is soooo like ACN.. Why are you not looking at the simple possibility that IBO Senior will use this victory as a platform to relaunch his bleak political career onward to Lagos Governorship
