Do Angels really Die!!!!
I ask again do angels really die? .... Nairalanders a very proficient nairalander has passed on to the great beyond, leaving us in space....He was a brother, a friend, a politician and an educationist. Freeman David aka Freemanan/FreemanDave is no more... When MrLeno his right hand man called me last night and asked 'when last did you hear from david' i knew all was not well... So i said some few days back... Then he broke the news to me that has left my heart in pains.... He died on Friday evening.. He left us when we needed him most.... He touched lives, inspired many and taught anybody that crossed his path... I had to go to his family house to confirm what i heard and i recieved the biggest shock of my life... Indeed FREEMAN DAVID HAS LEFT THE SURFACE OF THIS EARTH... leaving behind heartbroken parents and an only sister... He came, he saw and when he was about to conquer, the cold hands of death snatched him from us... He was a rare gem... A shinning star... He gave me hope when i was always down...He never disappointed me... You left us too soon FREEMAN.... what more can i say.... Farewell my friend, sleep on till we meet to part no more. FREEMAN REMI DAVID REST IN PEACE

PoliticsRe: No One Can Stop Us From Grazing In The South — Fulani Herdsmen by lagosrd: 6:36pm On May 01, 2016
omenka:
When you set emotions aside and think this through and through, you'd see some sense in it.

ALL LANDS in the country belongs to the government according to the Land Use Act and the constitution guarantees freedom of movement.

Nomads move around to graze their cattle, selling some where possible, while other people equally dispersed across every nook and cranny of the country sell clothes, vehicular spare parts and other such commercial activities. I don't see anyone calling for a ban on such activities.

What we should be bothered about is mitigating clashes between herdsmen and their host communities by way of ensuring they don't graze on cultivated fields.
That is the angle I think the government should be looking at working on, perhaps they could ensure noticeable barriers are created so when these herdsmen see them, they know "this is a restricted area" and trespassers would be duly punished.

There are some people inflaming the whole situation just because of the occupant of Aso Rock- taint the Fulanis and you essentially have tainted the president. What better campaign tool would there be for a party known for extreme ethnoreligious politicking, PDP, in 2019 than "Buhari is a Fulani man and his brothers are killers. Look at what they have done. Would you want to have them come back and kill the rest of you??" That is where I think this whole drama is headed.

As usual, I expect a lot of overly emotional kids to do nothing but insult me over my opinion, but hell, it wouldn't change nada.

On the other thread where they did the same, I wondered, the same people who wanted to bury Buhari alive when it was alleged he said "Nigerians are criminals", claiming (and rightly so) NOT ALL Nigerians are (Baba didn't say Nigerians are though but only listed some crimes we engage in abroad which give the country a bad image), are the people crucifying the Northern governors for saying essentially NOT ALL Fulanis are criminals!!

How the heck does one adopt two different opinions on these two (exactly similar) scenarios??
So with all the book wet you read this is your conclusion no problem now. If grazing is still practised in civilized world we will know. Shebi no one can challenge them abi we will see. This if not proper handled will only set the country on fire. Meeting farmers on their farms and killing them and raping their wives is still part of the land use act abi. See no one has monopoly of wahala. By the time they shift people to the wall even the president will not be able to beg. This country belongs to everyone and you can't come to my domain/ territory and start attacking me and you think I should start calling in Jesus name or Allah akubar. Nnmba nu (no not at all)

PoliticsRe: Oshiomhole Increases Minimum Wage To N25,000 by lagosrd: 5:44pm On May 01, 2016
metronaija:
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State on Sunday announced a new minimum wage of N25,000 with effect from May 1, 2016 for workers.

Oshiomhole who was addressing a rally organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), to mark this year’s Workers’ Day at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, announced the increment from the present N18, 000 minimum.

“With effect from today, the new minimum wage for government workers shall now be N25,000, and the new minimum wage ‎will cut across board”, the former trade union leader said.

The workers who before the announcement had expressed dissatisfaction over their poor welfare jumped for joy and happily marched in appreciation of the new minimum wage as announced by the Governor.

Earlier in their respective speeches, the Chairman of NLC, Comrade Emma Ademokun and his TUC counterpart, Comrade Ohue Marshal, had expressed concern over a number of problems affecting Nigerians.

Some of them are the persistent scarcity of petroleum product, epileptic power supply and illegal electricity tariff increase.

They also mentioned spiralling increase in cost of living, insecurity, kidnapping, rampaging herdsmen, Boko Haram, irregular payment of salaries resulting in accumulation of arrears, growing rate of unemployment with the attendant social vices‎.

The Workers’ Day rally was however marred with low turn out of workers.

The new wage minimum wage comes at a time no fewer than 27 states in Nigeria are finding it difficult to pay workers.

http://www.metronaija.com/2016/05/oshiomhole-increases-minimum-wage-from.html
Deception of the highest order. A state that could not pay her dues some times ago has suddenly increased the minimu wage. It's either oshiomole is trying hard to improve the debt profile of the state or he is simply doing this simple because of the election coming in Edo state. It's a pity deception at its pick again.
PoliticsRe: FG To Introduce Toll On Some Reconstructed Roads – Fashola by lagosrd: 7:32am On May 01, 2016
STFUand4kMeHARD:
The federal government is set to reintroduce toll on some roads that will be built or reconstructed.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola SAN, made the declaration while fielding questions as guest on the popular Channels Sunrise Daily programme.

The minister said it would be pretentious to assume that the roads would get better if we continued to make our roads absolutely toll free. He added that, there would however be alternative roads to the ones that would be tolled.

Fashola declared, “We should stop being pretentious that roads can be had for absolutely free everywhere. There will be toll roads if we want to get out of this situation. There will be alternative roads as well so that people can choose.”

Fashola also talked about severance package for ex-workers in the three ministries. He explained that the record he met showed that about 50,000 such workers were due severance pay and that about 47,000 have been paid representing about 97 per cent compliance.

“Now, for me, it is a clear evidence of an intention and good faith to pay. Pensioners are about 5,000 and 3,000 have been paid; that is more than 50 per cent compliant. When I queried the reasons for the delay, they told me there was a verification process going on and the approvals they had to spend money on that process had expired. I gave them a new approval”, the Minister further explained.

He said the seeming delay in payment was as a result of the verification exercise going on adding that the verification was due to the allegation that when the payment started “people were altering records, issuing employment letters at severance point and backdating them to people who were not members of staff”.

“That is what has delayed this process. The money to pay is there but they said they are not going to pay until they are sure of the people they are paying. So that process is going on. It has to be properly done and when it is completed we will pay. These are the issues. So when people get angry or agitated, it is to do so in a context”, he said, adding that it is not an unwillingness to pay as some people have already been paid.

On the call for review of the privatization policy especially with regards to the Power Sector, Fashola, who recalled that the nation’s refineries were concessioned in 2006, noted that there was agitation then “by the voices that we are now hearing”, that they shouldn’t have been concessioned adding that as a result, the YarÁdua administration responded to that and stopped the process.

He declared, “I think our choice as a nation must be experiential. The YarÁdua administration responded to the agitation and stopped the process. But that was in 2007; where are we today, nine years after? We still don’t have the quality of refineries we want”.

“The Ministry of Petroleum just shared with us the hard work they are doing getting the refineries back on after about seven years. Perhaps, as you are aware, Dangote is now building a refinery. Perhaps if we had allowed that process, and I think Dangote was one of the concessionaires at the time”, he said.

Noting that government could start reviewing and nothing would happen, Fashola said in lieu of reviewing, focus should be “on getting what is on the ground to work”, adding, “And that is what I am doing, that is what I’ve told you about getting all the various power plants to work”.

PoliticsRe: “it Is An Insult To Label Fulanis As Criminals” -northern Governors by lagosrd: 3:00pm On Apr 30, 2016
hayzee545:
The 19 Northern States Governors have risen to condemn those labeling perpetrators of crimes around the country as Fulani people.

The Governors reaction came on the heels of criticism of fulani herdsmen for recent attack in Agatu, Delta, and Enugu, where scores of people lost their lives and properties destroyed.

The 19 states governors who met behind closed doors said, as much as they condemn the recent attacks in Enugu and other parts of the country, they condemned labelling the criminals as Fulani people.

In a briefing with newsmen, shortly after the meeting at the Kaduna Government House Friday evening, Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, said, it is an insult to label criminals as Fulani.

Shettima said “We want to unequivocally condemn the recent killings in Enugu and other parts of the country. But we equally condemn the politicisation or permit me, the ‘ethinicisation’ of the whole crisis. It goes beyond Fulani. If anything happens, they say Fulani herdsmen; to me it is an insult.

“Kidnapping in this country originated in the South-east, were they called Igbo kidnappers? We have a great national challenge and we want to call on all and sundry to come and let us solve our common challenges as a people. Because the blood of paternity that binds us together supersedes whatever differences that might divide us,” he stressed.

While he condemned the Agatu killings, the NSGF Chairman, charged the media to avoid sensationalism and harp on issues that bind the country Nigerians together.

All you just wrote is known by all, now lets be practical. mention areas that were build by individual s ( not companies or fg) that has all the infrastructure you just mentioned in nigeria
You should pls note that that I have explained that in my write up. All government needs do is provide a land that is free of litigation, do road map out if possible tarr the road and put electricity where necessary and then sell it out at a very subsidize rate. Not build houses for people. FYI where I live we graded the road and bought a new transformer and bought tens of concrete poles to get electricity. I think we tried our best without a single government effort.

when they empower you what will you build? probably a bungalow, your neighbors build duplexes another one builds blocks of flats. where is the uniformity? who will do the infrastructures like road, water , electricity etc? my point is that mass housing is always a win win situation
Oga ooooo.
Anyway I think I need to educate you on this one. You can have uniformity in construction and zoning is however used based on population density. Where you want low density you can zone blocked of duplexes of not more than 3 bedroom per lot .on the other hand where you need high density you can equally build/ zone block of flats and 4bdrm +5bedrm and so on there. So what government need do is to provide the land, do simple buildable designs put in infrastructures like electricity poles , maybe central sewage system, tarred roads and allocate such land to beneficiaries with strict monitoring on construction methods and standards. Hope that is useful brov.

You forgot to add that:

---Fulani herdsmen are being kidnapped
---they (fulani herdsmen) are being labelled culprits when they are victims
---they cannot afford land for ranches/grazing which is why the government is called to help

IMHO....I still don't understand why we should give you land for grazing...the land use act doesn't allow that. You can't force me to give up my land for the herdsmen. When did cattle rearing become national interest?? Abi is the cattle a "public amenities" that should require an Act of Parliament. Please when did meat become soo important to us that we should die for it.
To the best of my knowledge, Not every household in Nigeria eats meat, but every household in Nigeria eats rice, how many land have they given free of charge to rice farmershuh And they want to forcefully create land for grazing, when other countries are building private ranches.

Lets get our priorities straight abeg. Only in Nigeria that selfish interest would override national interest.
May Godbless your struggle . You said it all. First and foresmost, one should value those cattles you will be suprised that they worth millions on naira. So are they now saying the owners cannot afford to buy one hectare in a very remote southern Nigerian suburb to graze his cattles? I smell a rat and if the odour is not quickly diffused it will explode into a mighty conflagration that will mess us up as a.people. Spread the news " cattle lives not more worth than human lives"

- Says anywhere they go they always touch base with the head of hausa community before they now meet the traditional institution in the area
- Says it the communities who usually provoke the fulani herdsmen by demanding money before they graze, and if they refuse to pay, they shoot 1 or 2 cattle.
- Says herdsmen that carry AK-47 are cattle rustlers
- Says Buhari has greatly helped them to limit cattle rustling, and that Buhari has helped them to recover a lot of cattle rustled since he assumed office
- Says the proposed Grazing Bill by the National Assembly to establish grazing land and routes in every state is good for them

The Federal Government has completed plans to begin mass housing units in all the six geo-political zones of the country.A director in the Ministry of Works and Housing, Arch. Sani Gidado, who represented the minister,Babatunde Fashola, said the projects which were designed to suit the locations of the zones, would commence as soon as the 2016 budget is passed into law.

He said previous mass housing projects in the country were carried out without considering the environment and locations, and for over 16 years, government stopped financing housing directly, but the present government had reversed the trend.
Arch. Ikenna Ekeredu, a representative of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello, said out of the 17 million housing units being proposed, about eight million units would be built in the FCT.
