there are abnout five different species of mosquitoes that spread the disease, its usually common in swampy, muddy, dirty areas where the mosquitoes breed....

The disease is getting rare in nigeria now, its more common in south-east asia, eastern africa

This disease is caused by a filarial worm (wucheraria bancrofti) and is spread by the bites of mosquitoes

it is usually found in areas with poor hygiene, stagnant water, poor living conditions, etc

the filarial worms block the lymphatic system, especially around the groin, causing swollen gigantic legs (elephantiasis) and huge hydroceles in the scrotal sac, as seen in this pic

blood film and serology confirm diagnosis, see a doc for treatment

I am also suspecting torsion of that testicle, so please take the boy to a better hospital for an immediate orchidopexy, unless the boy wants to become partly infertile....

Please, prevention is better than cure, everybody should go for the HBV vaccine, its cheap and affordable....

Hepatitis B is terribly deadly, its either the expensive drug ribavirin, which may not even work, or a liver transplant, so please the vaccine is better

i believe the poor child had hemolytic anaemia; since the child is AA (i doubt it tho) and the malaria test turned up negative (i seriously doubt that too), then the next thing i will think of is glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, which is a rare genetic disorder, triggered by eating fava beans, some drugs e.g quinine, and other environmental factors.....

But why are our doctors like this, some of them have absolutely no value for human life, even some nurses are better...
