Muslims don't contribute money for Imams, each Mosque has a committee and the Imams are not even usually signatory to the account of the ummah. Try and Enter any mosque in Lagos, you will see a big black board where monthly contributions are recorded and the no 1 on the list will mostlikely be Alhaji Imam, or baba imam or simply Imam.

So, how do you expect people to come for such a job especially from christianity where the idea is contrary.

Also, You will note that you don't become an imam just because you want to be one, even if you have the requisite training, imams are appointed by the muslim communities. Even if you build a mosque, you can not force yourself as imam on them.! That is why you will see that there are lots of muslim schorlars that are not even imams of any mosque!!

People in the north have their lives at stake on this election since they are the ones being killed by Boko Haram. Why wont they record higher percentage of PVC collections!. Southerners are not yet affected by this BH menace and hence they are less desperate for this election!.
Generally, all REC in the south are southerners and are all appointed by GEJ on deployed by Jega.
Jega can not sack a single Electoral commissioner, he can only deploy them to different states. He has deliberately deployed people from the south to southern states and people from the North to Northern states. If southerners are not coming out to collect their PVC , they are responsible for their actions. If southern states are not declaring holidays for PVC collection or providing other incentives to their people to collect PVC, why should the Notherners be responsible for that.!

Note that INEC will not go house to house to distribute PVCs. All it takes for all the Almajiris in the north to pursue their PVC with vigour is for the big man feeding them to make it a perequisite for the daily food they eat in his house and pronto hundres will go for their PVC.

Instead of complaining why dont you start mobilising your people to go for their PVCs and stop complaining

More than 300 Boko Haram fighters have been killed in military operations in north-east Nigeria, the army says.

A number of militants had also been captured and weapons and equipment seized, defence spokesman Chris Olukolade said.

Two soldiers lost their lives and 10 were wounded during the operation in Borno state, he added. The deaths have not been independently verified.

Meanwhile, up to 30 people have died in an air strike on the border with Niger.

They were attending a funeral ceremony at a village when an unidentified plane began dropping bombs, local officials and humanitarian sources said.

It is not yet clear who was responsible for the bombardment, but Nigeria has denied responsibility.

"It's not to my knowledge and there has not been any report from our people of such an incident," said Dele Alonge, a spokesman for Nigeria's air force.


'Desperate response'

Niger has been the target of bombings in the past, blamed on Boko Haram since it widened its brutal insurgency.

Thousands of civilians and soldiers have been killed during the group's campaign for a breakaway Islamic state.

Nigeria has released images of vehicles and weaponry it says it captured from Boko Haram Niger, Chad and Cameroon have recently formed a military coalition with Nigeria to help combat the threat.

Nigerian forces have been accused of overstating enemy casualties in the past.

But the two-day operation against militants in Borno State had inflicted "massive casualties", Mr Olukolade said.

He told the BBC he was not surprised Boko Haram was continuing to carry out attacks despite "heat" from coalition troops.

"What you see are elements of their desperate response to the ongoing onslaught on their various camps and locations.

"It is expected and it will be contained accordingly," he added.
