Christianity EtcRe: Help! A Wedding Is About To Be Cancelled Because Of Tithe Card by laidback(m): 3:53pm On Aug 07, 2016
Father please when my marriage comes let my bride be someone who thinks for herself and doesn't care about big weddings. So when one church starts to misbehave like this, we can gather a few friends to a beach side resort, get a good Man of God to bless the union and then sail away for a very fantastic honeymoon on a yacht (rented o, as I never hammer well yet). wink

This matter dey vex me true

OP if you're not fabricating this then I see no reason why you can't mention the name of the church

Christianity EtcRe: Help! A Wedding Is About To Be Cancelled Because Of Tithe Card by laidback(m): 3:25pm On Aug 07, 2016
Guy you just have to mention the name of the church so others can beware and so the church can be shamed or reformed. My church uses tithe card but I've never subscribed to it and I will never subscribe to it even though I pay tithe faithfully. How seriously they take the issue varies from parish to parish and from Pastor to Pastor. Normally to wed in my church, it is your belonging to a house fellowship (home cell) and regular attendance in church activities that they consider. I wonder if they've started adding tithe card.

All these excesses and additions to God's word is becoming very disturbing. It's why I don't bother defending men of God anymore. Let God fight for those truly doing his word, the excesses in most churches has just become too much.

Ok so let me get this straight.

Some guy advised you to go into farming, not so that you can be self-employed, not so that you can contribute your quota to the growth of food security in Nigeria, not so that you can tap the unharnessed wealth in agriculture in Nigeria but so that you can qualify for Buhari/APC's perennially elusive 5k?

Please tell me you landed him a nice backhand before sauntering off. This life sha, if one is not strong and determined, these kind of human beings are in abundance to discourage you on your journey to greatness.

OP I think you're under a spell. This is not love. Or else how can a man be so weak?

The only other possibility is that she's very good looking and you've never dated a beautiful woman before and so you feel lucky.

Weak men irritate me

There's something wrong with this story and OP's reaction. In addition to the posts by @Dyt it seems the OP is a 'scammer'. Those trying to give her money should restrain themselves and exercise due diligence.

Is she an Economics grad or English and Lit?
Her story seems too touching. Had to be a virgin from Great grand mother.
She's too eager to collect funds. Normally people with a strong resolve to remain a virgin will only tell this kind of story more to get a listening ear than to solicit funds.

Anyway ..

Na your destiny that guy wan divert so, such that you may never be able to regain it even after much prayers.

God is just waiting for you to finalize in your mind even while going through these challenges, that you'll never compromise. From your heart. Then with a little more prayers doors will be open to you.

Please don't let Satan exchange your destiny. Stay focused and stay blessed.

EducationRe: Unemployment: I Am Losing Interest In Studies!! by laidback(m): 10:27pm On Feb 20, 2016
Bro as a grad of Computer Engineering and a professional in IT presently - in the IT department of a large organization - I think I'm qualified to advise you.

I started my IT career in 1998, just before university, with programming and desktop support. When I was in school, I was just as dissatisfied as you are now. At some point I didn't take my studies seriously and came out with a 2:2. I'll say by and large that was a mistake I'm still paying for, cos I went in search of Jobs but didn't land the ones I would really like. I've had CCNA since 2007 and a few other certs.

The IT skills you say you have are really not a big deal trust me. Right now you're just like several other IT guys out there. You think it's a big deal because you're taking care of small bills in school. From what I read you don't particularly stand out in any key field yet. You're just learning all that comes your way now. That wouldn't earn you much later though it's a good foundation for the future.

So unless you do really specialize in a specific and preferably difficult area maybe get your CCIE and stuff like that or and you have very clear plans in owning a company with a clear sense of direction and capital to execute, you'd better go back to class, dust those books and start cramming, reading doing whatever. Trust me I've been there.

Being in school really shouldn't stop what you're involved in now. You're not doing anything major yet, just some small jobs here and there so..unless and until you own a thriving business whose income can rival that of a fresher in a bank OR until you come up with the next great app or idea, go the FK back to class. Thank me later.

Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, Steve Jobs were all driven, talented prodigies and some had major financial backing so don't be deceived. Some of them actually did get into Harvard. Except you're actually a genius and just decided to leave that part out. In that case ignore my advice.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Finally Proven: Your Social Media Life Might Render You Jobless. by laidback(m): 3:51pm On Feb 19, 2016
Guy leave all this gist. Everyone has secrets and regrets and as long as its within reason it should be OK. I mean no sane person should go online posting nude pics and all that kind of stuff, so apart from extreme stuff like that what can be so wrong?

I wouldn't change my opinion on politics for instance or stop expressing them because I want to get hired. The wayrecruiters go on you would think they are looking for angels to hire.

That someone is careful enough not to post certain things online doesn't mean they aren't living a weird double life. Most people just know how to separate the two, which is the proper and professional thing and really all you need to care about.

The more you go digging for stuff, the more likely you are to find things that would make you prejudicial towards a candidate if care is not taken. Stuff like political inclinations or sexual proclivities which are really none of your business but never the less elicit strong emotional responses from people.

Just make sure the person is qualified for the job. My opinion.
FamilyRe: Bayelsa Girl Forced To Marry Hausa Muslim Lover by laidback(m): 1:14am On Feb 19, 2016
Some idiots have really ticked me off this night.

A pastor was online last year soliciting for money to buy the latest private jet, even though he already had one. I read the story and registered my displeasure there and then.

When I read of so called Pastors sleeping with a member's wife for instance, I don't go online looking to attack those who bash the pastor or Christianity, cos I know what my religion is about and I'm secure in its knowledge. I don't even care what such people have to say, my concern is on the victim of the 'Pastor's' wickedness and nothing else.

Look at this touching story, yet we have some ninjas online who would rather think it was made up to tarnish Islam. Can you imagine! Talk about parochial, twisted reasoning.

Why don't you ask yourself why you keep having to defend your religion?

I cut off from a good friend in Kaduna in 2012 for this same nonsense. Boko Haram had just struck in Kano and other places, people were outraged and condemning the perps yet this guy didn't utter one word in sympathy. Instead he was busy looking for those who were questioning Islam to attack. Another one was blaming the Nigerian police rather than BH for the killings even after BH took responsibility. I know their type. I have good Muslim friends, people I trust and I know the types of the idiots on this thread.

Please face the topic.

crusadistic:
If you think Islam supports the act, simply show everyone the proof from an Islamic text or from the Shari'a and not all this your unnecessary story.
some people and their shallow reasoning *smh*
You'Re the one certifiably crippled with shallow reasoning. I know what precisely Islam supports and doesn't. I live among Muslims and don't need to be told anything. I have NO intention of reading any crap you post. A girl is kidnapped in the most sadistic manner and you and your type are more interested in how people think it relates to Islam than in being angry about the act. Like any religion, your words and actions are ALL I ever need to read not any Holy book. Have I finished reading my Bible the I should be reading what you posted? Crap.

As a matter of fact, if it's just a few bad eggs giving Islam a bad name, you're one of those bad eggs. I live in the north and see your type EVERY TIME.

Oyedepo slapped a girl of about the same age who admitted being a witch on National TV and it was Christians who even attacked HIM the most.

You've not said a word against the perps you're not even outraged about the incident, yet you'Re going about looking for who said what about Islam. Nonsense.

Answer my question, why are those guys not behind bars? Who's protecting them? Don't deviate from the real issue.

FamilyRe: Bayelsa Girl Forced To Marry Hausa Muslim Lover by laidback(m): 12:30am On Feb 19, 2016
It's been a while since any story pained me like this. Each time I think of the issue, it's not that some fellows had the audacity to do something like this that annoys me. People take daring, fool hardy, wicked steps ALL the time. What gets to me is having being discovered, why is there no outrage from the right quarters. Why are the perps being protected for Christ's sake. Why are those higher in authority, like the Emir not more involved.

What's different between this and Chibok? Even Chibok is better, at least they couldn't be rescued because they were being held by numerous, murderous terrorists in unknown locations. This one the kidnapper is known, the location can be found yet no outrage.

This is why some people resort to some very diabolic means in protecting themselves and their families because sometimes it seems God is too long-suffering and merciful.
FamilyRe: Bayelsa Girl Forced To Marry Hausa Muslim Lover by laidback(m):
The responses on this thread SHa...

Some of you are saying this has nothing to do with Islam bla bla, some Pastors also rape kids bla bla. Are you sure you read the story? WHY ARE THE PERPETRATORS BEING PROTECTED!!! Why was the Emir unwilling to assist until the pressure became a bit much? I mean I assure you if this happened in the name of Christianity, no matter who, even if a big pastor, the perpetrators would be in cuffs and paraded on TV by now. So I ask again if this has nothing to do with religion why the impunity?

I even learned that a similar thing happened before in Bida.

For those saying she ran away with a boyfriend or was enticed by money, the parents are to blame etc etc. I really pity your future. This is a 13 year old girl that comes from a humble background, so if she liked someone who had means (assuming that was even the case) how does that give the person the right to kidnap her AT 13 and convert her to another religion!!!? Are you people mad! Who didn't have a crush at 13? What's the big deal about having a crush? Did you kidnap the person because you could? If someone is kidnapped how can the parents help that? Did you not see the great lengths her parents have gone to get her back?

If you guys had actually bothered to read the story you'll see she was clearly under some sinister influence.

Chai chai chai. The lack of empathy, stupidity and more in this country don tire me. Especially amongst those of us in the south.

For the good of all that girl must be returned and the perps MUST be reprimanded. What nonsense

Another thing. For the guys saying it doesn't matter or what business of yours is it. When you are ready to get married, in searching for a wife, why don't you start with the ladies at Allen Avenue or at least include them in your consideration? Wetin, dem no fine reach? At least they are honest about their sexuality and if they could find a good guy like you to pay the bills they probably wouldn't have to stand by the roadside?

Humans, please let's tell each other the truth. Spread of diseases, black mail, risk of damaged womb due to abortion, etc are all good reasons to limit how we sleep around biko. Whether you think you're God's gift to women or you're miss deep pu.ssy. pls limit it.
RomanceRe: I Lost My Man Because I Slept With So Many Men - The Real Reason He Left!!! by laidback(m):
Some ladies just bent on disgracing themselves on this thread.

Just remember that actions have consequences. That one person lived a certain lifestyle and got away with it doesn't mean you will too.

No matter how big a man's D.ick is and how good in bed he is, if he genuinely loves a woman and wants to wife her, he will always prefer she is the decent type. So it's not insecurity at all, it's just the way it is. And if he finds out she's truly decent, his respect, trust and consequently love for her increases. Now does this guarantee a successful marriage, no, but it's a damn good start. A very good one. So except he's just looking to FoK and go that's the only time you hear men say your past doesn't matter - when they just want to FoK u and go. Forget what they say, this is the truth.

Also, that it's a man's world doesn't make it OK for men to sleep around talk less of women.

Every person claims they want to be better persons so why not strive for a better character too? Why promote promiscuity? Why consciously do things that you HAVE to lie to your spouse about?

Forget what any guy tells you, no decent man wants a slut for a wife. And whether you successfully hide it or not if you sleep around a lot, you're a slut. Simple.

Let's forget the spiritual since not everyone may be able to relate, but there's even scientific evidence that a woman retains a portion of the DNA of every guy she's been with. If that doesn't tell you something, nothing will.

This is very cool indeed. If I may suggest, just focus on improving the key technology itself. It's response time and stuff like that. This is so you don't waste energy 're-inventing the wheel. If that goes to market for instance, there are already technologies to make it smaller, fancier, give it a better ring tone etc. All that is not for you to do anymore or at this stage. Just focus on improving the key technology and if it's really new, look into the possibility of patents.

Nice work. Cheers!
