CareerRe: Six Career Myths You Shouldn't Fall For by laidback(m): 4:21pm On Jan 10, 2013
Well, I think this is a very good write up and nos 5 and 6 are absolutely on point. Most of my friends who traveled out for masters will absolutely concur. Their graduate degrees are now more of a 'feel-good' factor than a money earner. That is except for the extreme few who attended top 5 schools like Imperial college and the likes and read courses directly relevant to a specific industry e.g. Instrumentation engineering for Oil and Gas operations. However by the time you consider many others who got the same Oil and Gas jobs without stepping a foot overseas, well...No beef o, its just the truth.

Most people who get good jobs after Masters would likely still have done well without the extra degree. But its all good if its your thing. A graduate degree is really not mine.

Christianity EtcRe: Visions Of EARTHQUAKE Coming To Nigeria. by laidback(m): 3:03pm On Oct 13, 2012
My brother, thank you very much. The bible says the wise see danger ahead and avoid it but the simple (foolish) go right on and are soon consumed. I just paraphrased the verse. A word is enough for the wise. I attend one of the more prominent Pentecostal churches in Nigeria, and I can tell you God is not happy with the whole country - starting with his house the church. There is a lot of misplaced priority and false prophecy there-in.

The whole world is experiencing birth pains - the flooding, the obscene amount of quakes and hurricanes, the threats of war and actual wars. They are ALL prophetic. People say the present flooding in Nigeria is about the Cameroonian dam, fine, but ask yourself why did the dam over-flow in the first place?

My friends now even call me a nut case (jokingly and seriously) because I've been warning about the end times. No wahala. Time shall tell. I may not have dreams and visions yet but I can see the handwriting on the wall. The warnings to America are even way more severe. Most people think the present threat in the middle east of imminent strike against Iran by Israel is just fodder for beer palour gist. Most haven't even sat down to seriously weigh the consequences of such an action or they are just too scared. Seriously you think a whole president, a Man with the intelligence and position of Ahmadinejad would just come to a whole UN general assembly every time and be ranting about a 12th Imam, global chaos, death to Israel and so on? People amaze me, the length we are willing to go to keep our heads buried in the sand.

People repent and turn back to God. This is not doom/gloom prophecy, nor is it another conspiracy nut case theory. It is what it is. There is a lot that happens in this world that goes unreported in the mainline news media, which you really ought to be aware of. Heaven and hell is real.

Some wise cracker in trying to prove himself/herself intelligent, exposed, avant-garde, would soon come here and start poking fun at this message as usual. Yet intelligence agencies (CIA, Mossad) and even recently, the Japanese parliament - the real been-there-done-that, with proven intelligence and clout frequently look to these happenings with the eyes of the prophetic. For instance, google Joel Rosenberg. He writes fiction based on BIBLICAL end-time prophecies. He's been invited by the CIA a number of times to help throw more light on these things. Even though they don't buy it hook, line and sinker, they're wise enough to notice the patterns and take it seriously.

Yeah, the OP was a one time Islamic terrorist turned Christian, he knows what he talks about. However he's also one of those people who are enemies of the main line media because he tells it like it is. I believe there's a lot happening in these times that are more than natural though, there's so much we don't know, yet people just jump to conclusions.

[b]I have only one question to ask. I heard it first from Walid Shoebat (Google him). ''Why is is that Islam and Muslims are the only ones who (have to) go about saying 'Islam is a religion of peace' ''. Do you hear Christians or Hindus going about trying to convince the world that their religion is one of peace?

It gets me very bothered that people in this country, especially the government officials actually think that these guys can be paid off. That's just ridiculous. Do we even understand the nature and remote causes of this kind of ideology? You really think money is their problem? Well, I hope I'm wrong, but then again even if it turns out that money was the answer, is that the kind of message that the government wants to be sending out? First with ND militants, now BH? SMH.

I came close to falling for this ''PASTOR SAYS" nonsense about a marital partner. Thank God I 'shined' my eyes finally. Now after much living in fleshly sin, I'm learning to pay the price on my knees. May God help us.

Even in R.C.C.G., you still have some pastors trying to match make, claiming its from God. Its good the senior pastor has made his position clear on the matter. Only the wise would hear though.

PoliticsRe: Kaduna On Fire Again. by laidback(m): 1:38pm On Jun 19, 2012
I live in the Narayi/Barnawa axis of town and last night my area was quite hot. By this morning it had fizzled out - I guess they (the radical Muslims) decided to take the fight to town knowing they cant prevail in Barnawa. Meanwhile even with the relaxation of the curfew, I advised myself and stayed at home, cos my place of work is at Tundun Wada. In fact my neighbors begged me not to go to work though I didn't need to be told. It's common sense, its still too early to expect peace. A while back a colleague of mine called to say one of our managers, a christian who lives in television, narrowly escaped being lynched but had his car vandalized.
RomanceRe: What Kind Of A Husband Will He Be? by laidback(m): 11:54pm On Jun 18, 2012
Nickydrake: I cannot answer the question of what kind of husband the guy will make, but i can suggest a scheme that will cut that puppet from his mother's strings. Her meddlesome influence appears to be the chief cause of all the worry after all.

Now, you may think of the situation in this way:

Enormously wealthy mum; lazy, spoilt only son; desperate fiancée. [Feel free to replace 'desperate' with any euphemism of your choice].

There has been no mention of a dad, and for the sake of my scheme we shall assume that he is lounging six feet beneath.

This wickedly rich woman has got a kid who is apparently old enough for marriage, yet she still retains sufficient will-power to exert a domineering demeanour on both her child AND his fiancée; two fully grown adults. It would be safe therefore to place her age above fifty but below sixty-five. For very simple reasons too.

It is uncommon for a woman below fifty to have produced progeny that is fit for matrimony, especially when that offspring is male. It is also inconceiveable that a woman over sixty-five would wield such pronounced influence in any area of her SON's life other than mentioning her preferred colour of napkins.

Now the story makes it evident that our wealthy milf dotes on her son excessively. If she cares so much for her son now that she is alive, bet on the fact that she worries convulsively about what will become of him when she is gone to provide nourishment for the maggots.

She's a woman, and they're all good at worrying about such things. Plus the fact that she is overbearing as of nature means she will be extra-meticulous with her plans.

SO our ma'am wants to ensure that her baby is tucked in all nice and comfy before she kicks the bucket, the obvious answer to that problem is in showering said lad with a generous allocation of cash and other lucrative assets...in a will.

I should mention, for clarity of intent, that a will usually doesn't come into effect until after the testator, in this case our beloveth milf, DIES.

This technicality is disturbing at first, but careful consideration would reveal how happy everyone would really be if said milf met with some fatal misfortune.

The exact nature of this misfortune being something to be determined by the imagination of the would-be couple.

I have a mind to furnish this distraught couple with further hints on how to approach the ultimate matter, but i'm wary of the line between the absurd ramblings of an idle nairalander and the cold calculations of an accessory.

BusinessRe: GTB Tokens Don't Last! by laidback(m): 6:54pm On Jun 13, 2012
Dual Core: These tokens do their work but the hardware does not last. My first token didn't stay a year before i noticed a small crack on the screen which grew into a bigger crack and the ink spread accross the screen.

I got a replacement and few weeks later i saw a small patch of ink (no cracks) which has since been growing at the center. Its almost halfway through the screen but I can manage to guess the obscured numbers most times so I am still using it.

For my first token, I always had it with my keys. I guess that's how the crack came. The replacement token too, I had it with my keys until last week when I removed it.

GTB cannot give us a token and expect us to keep it at our homes and bring it out of the drawer only when we need to make a transaction.

I put my token with my keys because my keys are always with me and I could initiate any transfer anywhere! The token even has a provision for a key chain so it means the makers expect it to be affixed to a set of keys but these tokens are not rugged. They are not built for Nigerian mobility! Soon I will be replacing this second token and each replacement costs 3,500 Naira.

Meanwhile I have decided to find out some time to generate as many token numbers as I can in an hour and save in a secure location on my handheld devices, because that ink that's spreading may just give way one day and cover the whole screen and it may be at a crucial moment.
Bro, I don't think that's how those things work o - though I'm not so sure. The token works with a time synchronized server at GTB HQ or some where, so whatever numbers you generate beforehand, would be invalid at the time you want to use them later. There are other types of disconnected tokens that use a formula, whereby the next number is a function of the previous, so except this is how GTB's configured theirs, generating numbers for use later wont work. Like I said I'm not sure so pls find out.

What do you mean by network setup wizard failed?

If you don't get the network setup properly between systems, just forget adding any other device and if as you said they are al win XP, then you reallyshouldn't have a problem. I think you should look at the IP addressing if you haven't. Give them static IPs in the same subnet.
TravelRe: Arik Air And Fraud, What Arenigerians Doing. by laidback(m): 5:38pm On May 11, 2012
lastpage: There is no "Legal fees" when a "Court Action" has not been taken yet!
What you need is a Lawyer to write them a simple letter of "intent to take up legal action" if they dont refund the money.
That should not cost more than two thousand naira, at most!

it is only when they refuse, that your Lawyer would now institute a legal action in a court of Law.
Again, ask the Lawyer for a "Prono Bono" arraingement (No win, No fee).

if he is sure you have a "good case" and he will win, he will agree!
At the end, he will add his fees (+about 25% more) to whatever relief he is seeking from the court.

If he wins, he gets 30% of whatever you are granted by the court. Simple.

Lastpage
Bro thanks for your explanation, but fees are fees whether you are paying just a little something or paying a whole lot. My point is, spending additional money to get back that money, is really not it except of course there'd be profit grin Anyhow, advice taken. I'll give them till mid next week and if no show, they'll be getting some pretty stiff correspondence from me.
