ComputersCisco Guru Help! Cant Connect To Internet Via Cisco 2800 & Idirect X3 by laidback(op): 1:12pm On Aug 09, 2011
Hi,

Have been troubleshooting a connection i created between a Cisco 2800 router and an Idirect X3 modem for hours. The X3 connects to the internet and works fine. so to improve the networks capabilities, I recently installed a Cisco 2800 router between the LAN and the Modem. but I cant seem to open web pages from any system on the LAN!#

Is it a NAT issue? Didn't configure NAT on the Cisco router, cos i expect that to be configured on the X3.

I dont think its a routing issue though, cos i just created a single default route pointing at the X3, and I can traceroute to internet sites from the router but not from a system on the network.

Any Cisco Guru in the house please help. Thanks.

My thoughts 'Without Prejudice'

Virginity does not make a GOOD WIFE. There are other factors to consider. Granted.

But I'll certainly appreciate it if I marry a woman who's one - a virgin. (At least then even if she goes sleeping about after marriage I'll be sure its me who's goofing).

The fewer men my potential wife has known, THE BETTER. There is no beef, malice or self deceit here. It is what it is.

If I can put a check on my Libido as a Man in my late 20s (young, virile, reasonably good looking etc), although I'm not a 'virgin' i admit, so should my potential mate.

Simple.
Having said that, let me just add, while the topic gets stale, that, "Yes, Men are as much a part of the problem as are the ladies". But generally, the media and the forces behind it are even bigger problems. Lets however encourage ourselves in the truth no matter how bitter it may seem. Kapische?

This issue should not be handled with kid gloves o. I just wish there are real and effective avenues for addressing issues like this. But surely with the recent happenings in that area the authorities can't force anyone to report there, can they?
PoliticsRe: Tambuwal Cuts Reps’ Pay By 40% by laidback(m): 4:15pm On Jul 01, 2011
These Politrick-cians have mastered the "Art of looting"!
Look at this Tambuwal, who is he fooling? What kind of wool is he trying to pull over our eyes with his "40% pay-cut media hype?

As the rate at which every politician goes away with the house they use when in office, two hings will happen soon:

1.) GEJ will have to 'retain" Aso-Rock and we have to build a new one for the incoming President, every time we elect a new one!

2.) If we add the number of Reps and Senators together and at the rate they are all going away with the houses the "Tax payers" paid for, there would be no more land to build in Abuja in a few years time, The Assembly Rogues would have all "retained" the houses, just as Tax payers money is used to build new ones!

Truly, there is no other definition for "Democracy" that Corruption, as far as Nigerian Politicians are concerned! Fecking Thieves!

"They will "retain car", retain House, Retain just about anything they can lay hands on?
When did Nigerians approve this bogus retention laws?
My bro, you've said it all. someone serves his nation as an elected official for four years and he retains his house in staff quarters. Is that sustainable? After all the housing and other jumbo allowances they would have gotten o. Bloody crap.

The truth is there are many Northerners with the wisdom and exposure that this poster has shown, but they all share a common problem: they refuse or are afraid to speak out. Even this poster had to come to a picture-less blog site to put this, and i doubt that he'd make his thoughts really public. Nice one.

One point to correct, i don't know if you are aware but i am in Lagos Nigeria and not USA as you post intends to suggest.
Really? You mentioned taking them to body shops in the U.S. that's why i thought you were there. Ok no qualms. expect to hear from me though. cheers.
Car TalkRe: Pre-order Or Nigerian Buy; Which Is Better? A Dealer's Insight! by laidback(m): 2:26pm On Jun 20, 2011
Hi Emperor,

Your piece was very informative and encouraging, though I've managed to gather almost as much myself, in my over 1 month of researching pre-owned vehicles from the U.S., on the web. I now understand the value of and the difference between certified, non-certified, etc etc.

The thing with Nigerians is like you mentioned, they actually 'feel smart' buying the cheapest kind of pre-owned vehicles no matter the downsides. But I'm quite different in the way I go about my purchases-if I cant afford stuff of really high quality (when quality matters), I just wait till I have saved enough for it. Simple.

Be that as it may, I've found the highest quality types out there (1 owner CPO with carfax), to be quite expensive, if not over-priced. But thats what I'm still interested in. Like we say in Nigeria, 'make person close eye do am'. I'm also aware of the NVCP (National Vehicle Certification Program) which is even more thorough than CARFAX. What are your thoughts on this?

So my money is not complete yet, as I'm thinking of a 2007 Honda Accord EX full options (if possible with Nav-I know this option makes it even more expensive). Hopefully by November/December though, one should be ready by the grace of God. What I would like to know, is if you can assist in making this purchase, being a car dealer yourself. I'm actually resident in Nigeria at the moment, and I may have an opportunity to visit the U.S. before the year runs out. But in case i can't make it, can you process the purchase if I find the car myself over the internet? I believe this is your turf. Thanks.

TravelRe: Echose Of Tyranny In Arik Air Limited by laidback(m): 9:10pm On Jun 14, 2011
One thing most people fail to realize, is that as glamorous as the aviation industry/business tends to be, Airlines are one of the most difficult businesses to operate around the world. Its common to see the successful ones only posting marginal profits. There is so much they have to take into consideration. So for an airline in Nigeria-I dont care how many new planes they order-to think they can carry on like this, is at best laughable. Too bad the owner is from my state.
TravelRe: Echose Of Tyranny In Arik Air Limited by laidback(m): 9:01pm On Jun 14, 2011
@ Odiaero.
it's people like you that stretch one's patience to its very limit on Nairaland. And when someone loses it and start describing your likes with very unpleasant but very true adjectives, the person will be labelled as rude, insulting bla bla bla.

The writer puts up his article with countless allegations against arik air's management. In your bid to counter his claims you put up such sentiment ridden and downright i.diotic posts above. You are either unintell.igent or a close relative of Arik air's chairman. One of these has to be true.

If you want to rebuff the countless claims in a credible and intelligent way, you should tell us how you interviewed a staff of arik air and asked him questions about how they are being owed 3 months salaries, availablility of water dispensers within their office premises, the non-remittance of their pension funds etc etc. There are probably a thousand serious allegations in the article. You should also tell us if he denied them or not.

Mind you i work. But luckily enough for me, my employer pays me my salary and allowances as at when due. So i cant just imagine being owed a month's salary talk more of 3 months salaries. ARE YOU FORKING KIDDING ME? 3 STRAIGHT FORKING MONTHS? How the fork do i pay my bills, cater for my family? Even if all other allegations in the article were false and this one alone is true, then i boldly say that ARIK AIR IS THE MOST FORKED UP COMPANY ON THE FORKING PLANET! i really empathise with the poster. I dont think you are gainfully employed (although i may be wrong) so i dont expect you to fully understand the implications of this single allegation.

Please note that i am not sucker enough to believe that everything the poster says about Arik air is true. hell no i dont. But you coming on here to present such narrow minded, imbecill.ic defence on Arik's behalf is what i find disgusting. You need to develop a mature, intelligent and objective means of viewing issues man.

@ fork_addict: God bless you for the above response. That's all i have to say on the matter.
RomanceRe: Why Do Bachelors Avoids Financially Comfortable Spinsters.? by laidback(m): 7:35pm On Jun 13, 2011
This is quite the expected trend really, and its one of the many reasons why ladies try to marry early. The primary issues usually are:-
She's giving of some 'desperate' vibes - this turns off the confident and great guys
She's seems well to do - this would 'turn off' the insecure ones.

Don't rule out the fact that some are just interested in @&^%ing, as guys will always be guys except when bornagain or impotent which ever comes last.

Now, I'm a little older than her (you mentioned she's 28) and single, and usually I only find myself attracted to the above 27 yrs old and somewhat comfortable (sometimes with pay cheques as high as (and even higher than) 5M p.a. So I guess its different strokes/different folks. I'm somewhat comfortable myself, though I cant really say how I would feel around a financially comfortable lady if i wasn't so myself. There's just something about a sophisticated yet simple lady that i find very attractive, and most comfortable ladies seem to possess that attribute.

So what is my point? Let her keep searching and remain prayerful (incase spiritual dey the matter). And she should also sincerely check her attitude and expectations. No self deceit here.

I've never seen a more conflicting set of ideas over the same topic; especially one supposedly so, so objective. The test was written last saturday, with about 1500 candidates present at the Bwari Law school venue.

If I am to go by responses on this thread, I'd say whatever the outcome (of the test), I'm okay.

I was able to gather this much tho thru pure gossip:-

Entry level: housing allowee 1.5M, 1st 28 days 650k, relocation 920K.

I don't know which is fact or fiction or fantastic.

@Wumine: Actually 3 to 4 yrs experience with some grad degree (MSc) or difficult certification (ICAN) can certainly, as in certainly earn you A.M. in most reformed Public 'parastatals' in Nigeria.

Infact, Jarus's concerns completely reflect my predicament.

In as much as there seems to be a cloud of uncertainty around the terms of renumeration, and I'm speaking from experience, the overall package will be reasonably attractive. I know this because I'm presently employed by the government (Federal).

So all you guyz wondering if you should leave or stay or , Just have that in mind. I know this. I was only hoping to get more concrete info. You know Job hunting when you start forming 'having experience' is different from job hunting at entry level when you'll most likely accept anything - atleast for a start.
CareerRe: CBN Salary + Allowances - Who Actually Knows? by laidback(op): 10:15pm On Jan 20, 2011
Guys thanks a lot for all the lively posts, learned a lot.

For those wondering if they should accept the offer from a regular bank or from CBN, I say take CBN fast! I worked for a brief period in one of Nigeria's arguably top 5 banks. Trust me I know.

Well I like my present job, the pay is not crazy high or anything, but there are perks - plenty of them. Besides I'm done with entry level. I was simply called to write the test, I didn't apply believe it or not. Atleast I didn't apply by myself, someone may have applied on my behalf. However someone did tell me a coupla months ago that CBN was recruiting and they advertised, so this must be the 'fallout'.

That's the koko.
CareerRe: CBN Salary + Allowances - Who Actually Knows? by laidback(op): 11:34am On Jan 20, 2011
@Am just me. I get your point, though i hope you are wrong.

One thing I've come to realise about some of these jobs is this. Most times, unlike regular bank jobs where you know exactly what to expect - because its all stated in your offer letter - more than half of your renumeration comes in as unstated allowances. I'm just posting this for everyones benefit. Atleast let me psyche myself up grin

Please anyone who has more certain info enlighten us, you'll be suprised how many people need this info; and i'm not even talking about NASS members:-0)

@Jah Man Merci Merci merci

I actually worked in a bank for a while at entry level so i can relate. Thanks a lot; we make better decisions when we make informed decisions. No wonder most people dont know CBN pay, it seems to be a closely guarded secret.

Once again big guy, thanks.

Ehhmm. just to clarify. I'm supposed to write a test there soon, and so like you know, one needs to be informed on these things. I've heard thier salary is not sooo, well not so cool, but they have crazy allowances. How true? If true what are the figures actually? C'mon people help a bro out.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Graduates Against Dragnet GSE by laidback(m): 4:33pm On Aug 25, 2008
In this case i dont blame Dragnet, they are clearly opportunists. Its companies like UBA that simply refuse to develop themselves and thier H.R. that i blame. I've made it a rule never to pay one (1) kobo to any company that seeks money thru recruitment. I mean for crying out LOUD that's why they have a H.R. department in the first place.

In my house i always praise companies like P&G and my folks cant understand why. I was once in the recruiting process with this company, and they invited 20 of us who were vying for the same entry level position toa seminar in lagos, paid flight fees for those who came in from the north, paid for our lodging in a hotel in Allen, with free rooom service amongst other perks. All this for bloody entry level and they needed only one person!!

I say you can smell good companies worth working for a mile off. I earnestly urge nigerian job seekers to resist the dragnet scam OR i'll open my own 'standardisation exam' body o! And i assure you the fee wont be 5,000. NONSENSE. The whole scheme is like many government policies, blatantly annoying and insecere. What's even more annoying is companies like UBA who wouldn't think it through.

LETS ALL DO SOMETHING OR THE MONSTER WONT GO AWAY!
