CareerReasons Why Managers Fail by laiza(op): 8:20am On Jun 07, 2019
Reasons Why Managers Fail; Inaptitude in retaining top talent.

Many bosses have this attitude that anyone is replaceable like gloves, that they can hire someone even better. They are fooling themselves and doing disservice to their company.

When you lose an employee, you have to:

1. Pay recruiters fee to replace
2. Wait for the new employee to arrive
3. Pay them what you were supposed to pay the one that left, faily the market price
4. Train the new employee, and
5. The employee who left knows things nobody else does.

A good employee has knowledge of systems, products and processes. They have trust, relationship with co-workers that takes years to build. When you lose a good employee you lose part of your culture, you lose part of your company and you may lose your future.

CareerGet The JOB And KEEP It! by laiza(op): 3:25am On Jun 07, 2019
7 Things To Stop Right Now If You Want To Be SUCCESSFUL
Get the JOB and KEEP it!

1. Stop being loyal to people who are not loyal to you

2. Stop worrying about what people think and say about you. Hardest lesson to learn

3. Stop trying to please everyone because you can't

4. Stop reacting and start responding. Another hard lesson to learn

5. Stop wasting time and energy on people who do not care. There are lots of other people who do. Lost money can be found, lost time never

6. Stop letting others dictate how you should live your life. When writing the story of your life, don't let anyone else hold the pen

7. Stop doubting yourself
Don't think you deserve the job? Apply anyway
Don't think you will do well at the interview? Go for it anyway
Don't think the recruiter will respond to your email? Send it anyway. Don't self-reject.
Failures don't kill dreams, doubts do.

Agree?
CareerHire To HIRE Great People by laiza(op): 3:12am On Jun 07, 2019
Almost everyone is doing it wrong.
Here's why

Many good people don't do well on interviews. They get nervous with unfamiliar people and surroundings. Does not help when interviewers look at them like a python at a rabbit. Make candidates comfortable, offer water. And never treat interview as a final exam with 100 percent as final grade. You have a track record to look at, successes, accomplishments, goals,...etc. Who do you want to hire, people who do well on interviews or on the job?

And to the jobseeker, don't tell them how much you're earning. Tell them what you want to be earning. If your current company is under-paying you why should the next one do the same?
Companies should pay you based on your value not on the flawed practices of your previous employer. And if they don't see your value make it their problem not yours by going elsewhere.
CareerDear Job Seekers by laiza(op): 2:52am On Jun 07, 2019
Dear Jobseekers,

What actions have you taken today that will propel yourself to a brighter future? White collar job is not for everyone. If you're a graduate and you have searched for jobs everywhere and none is forthcoming please learn a trade or a skill. It is not the end of the world. And you, a professional having a 9 to 6 job that is draining the life out of you, what have you done with it? There is more to life than waking in the morning and showing up to a job that is killing you. If you have other set of skills please put them to use. I have never seen a billionaire that is an employee!

If you're a professional and you're earning good wages, what certification have you done to add to your set of skills? There are thousands of exams, courses and certifications to take that would add a few hundreds of thousands of naira to your bank account if only you knew. Of what good is your money in the bank when it doesn't add value to you or upgrade your life?

And please always remember LinkedIn is a bridge between the recruiters and jobseekers. If you're a recruiter please follow this thread and post available jobs in your organisation or the ones you represent, if you're a jobseeker please do the same and advertise yourself, what set of skills sets you apart, what can you do better if you're hired. Let us connect the jobseekers with the recruiters.

Folajin Kayode is my name, go to LinkedIn and post your skill on my page, tag me if possible and let's see what we can do together.

PoliticsRe: Address Us With Respect Not Threats Of War – Iran Warns US by laiza(m): 6:28am On May 21, 2019
America will never attack Iran. I don't know why i believe that anyway but going by the tensions created by the Trump administration and trade wars he started it is therefore not in the best interest of the Americans to start a war.

Needless to say, Iran had already replied they wouldn't be the one to start a war with the US but they will sure be the one to decide when it ends should America attack first. Somehow I believe that statement to be true.

You see, Iran has been preparing for war with Anerica since 1975 and the US knows this. The whole western world knows this and Russia can't wait to capitalize on this. China too, going by all the sanctions from the US and counter sanctions from China, they will definitely get in the cross fire and she will pitch her tent with Iran.

Unfortunately for the US North Korea too is not to be pushed aside because they all know a war between the US and Iran is only a matter of time before they get dragged into it so they will want to go with a side and I don't see them siding with the US.

In the past Saudi Arabia has lend her hand and land to the US to attack any of her neighbors but this time they are taking a back row seat. So a war might not be inevitable, in fact it has already begun but the US is not a fool and would not want to rush into bringing ballistic missiles and weapons against Iran.

If Al Shabaab can make Isreal cower like a dog with its tail in between its legs then I wonder what a Iran/Russia/China coalition will do to the US.

I leave that to the historians.

Jobs/Vacancies5 Interview Blunders by laiza(op): 12:09pm On May 20, 2019
5 Interview Blunders

1. Don't ask candidates "what is your greatest weakness? None of your business, really. Instead tell them what is yours. Or rather what is your company's greatest challenge.

2. Don't ask "why are you leaving your current company? They are not leaving yet

3. Don't ask "why we should hire you" instead explain why they should join you

4. Don't ask "where do you see yourself in 5 years" instead explain where you see your compnay in 6 months

5. Don't tell candidates "we will get back to you" if it is not your intention. It is better to be rejected outright, than to be left hanging. Instead, give them advice on the resume or interview. Better yet, call someone in the industry who would be lucky to have them.

CareerFor The Unemployed Graduates by laiza(op): 11:59am On May 20, 2019
Dear UNEMPLOYED graduate:

Your university FAILED you. Yes, they gave you knowledge but not skills. That, you had to learn on your own, you also learned a lot on your own and even realized grades don't guarantee good jobs or how to excel at one. I know you're ready to make a difference.

All you need is a chance.

But universities worldwide don't create universities internships programs, except for some selected professional courses. It is really not that hard, but almost all of them don't even try. They leave it to young people like you to fend for yourself. They leave you on your own as soon as you graduate and stop paying them.

To make it worse, many employers don't understand the value of hiring a graduate. They don't understand that graduates come with abundance of energy, lots of fresh ideas and great optimism. That hiring them gives opportunity to their more senior employees to grow and become managers and leaders.

Dear Hiring Managers

Hiring a graduate is not a CHARITY. It is something your compnay and team needs.

Every age group has a value.

The seeds of today is the harvest of tomorrow.

The future of your country, your compnay and you depends on the seeds you plant today.

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant for if you don't plant seeds, your harvest might be bountiful, plentiful but like everything else it will wither away and end someday"

That can never happen. Not even in a million years. Do you know what Iran has in store for the US? Suffice to say Russia, China and North Korea will definitely go in support of Iran and this would be the first ever that would happen. If the US should fire the first missile, trust me Iran will be the one to decide when the war ends. It will be the biggest mistake the US ever made.
PoliticsRe: Sanwo-Olu: I Will Employ Graduates As BRT Drivers, Pay N100,000 by laiza(m): 11:42am On May 20, 2019
Nukilia:
Oh God! Don't so this to our graduates! Employ SSCE holders for driving jobs and look for more brain tasking jobs for the youths of this nation. Sanwo Olu should not disappoint...

A five year bachelors degree should be fit for something more challenging than driving BRT!

Who did we offend in this country! cry
I want to believe you meant that sincerely and I feel your pain but let us think otherwise a little. Pls bear with me ehn. Nigerian schools churn out tens of thousands of graduates every year without prospects of creating jobs or worst still the older generations keep falsifying their age so they can keep their jobs and earn a living. The graduates that don't have families to support his dreams to fly overseas or go into business end up doing yahoo or some other menial jobs.

If Sanwo Olu wants to employ graduates and pay them 100k it is a laudable effort from the state government to me personally oh. If every state can do that do you know the number of graduates that will take off the streets alone?

Dangote employed MsC holders as truck drivers and he pays them well. All these graduates need is a well paying job so they can start a family and leave the streets or stop thinking about when its going to get better.

What is the point of having the so called BsC/MsC/PhD if you cannot find work or get a good paying job?

PoliticsFederal Government Reduces Pump Price Of Petrol By N5 by laiza(op): 4:10pm On Feb 18, 2019
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed its members nationwide to reduce petroleum pump price from N145 per litre to N140,

The directive was contained in a statement signed by IPMAN National President, Mr. Chinedu Okworonkwo, and obtained

Okworonkwo said the marketers were expected to comply with the directive from February 20 to February 25.

He said the decision followed Saturday’s last-minute postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to him, “Nigerians travelled to different places across the country to cast their votes. But to their dismay, the election was shifted to February 23.”

“IPMAN was prompted to slash N5 from the N145 per litre official petroleum pump price in a bid to motivate Nigerians to return to vote again on February 23.

“We urge all our members across the country to immediately reduce the fuel pump price from N145 per litre to N140 per litre.

“This is because of the political situation that hit the country after INEC suddenly announced the postponement of presidential and National Assembly elections after Nigerians were fully prepared.

“We are all aware how Nigerians travelled to different parts of the country in order to exercise their civic duty; unfortunately, they heard a sad news of postponement of the polls.

“This made us deem it fit to reduce the pump price in order to ease their suffering, and to also motivate them to travel again to exercise their franchise on Feb. 23,” Okworonkwo said.

He, therefore, urged his members nationwide to immediately comply with the directive to enable Nigerians to travel to exercise their civic responsibility.

Mr Okworonkwo maintained that IPMAN’s decision followed President Muhammadu Buhari’s concern over the election postponement.

“We decided to express our concern over the postponement, as President Buhari expressed concern over the development.

“As Buhari apologised to Nigerians to show restraint and return to polling units on Feb. 23, IPMAN also calls on the citizens to exercise patience and come out en masse to cast their votes on the rescheduled date,” Okworonkwo said.
CelebritiesDavid And Victoria’s $1.2 Billion Divorce? by laiza(op): 7:37am On Nov 22, 2018
When Victoria Beckham went on stage to accept her People’s Choice Fashion Icon Award on Nov. 11, people couldn’t help but notice her speech revolved around her solo success, and her husband David got a but a mere nod of acknowledgement.

Well, it seems like a solo focused speech was more revealing than we thought, as an insider told OK! magazine that the reason behind her female empowerment speech that didn’t mention her husband was because their 19-year marriage is indeed over.

The US tabloid reports that the couple is running head first into a $1.2 billion divorce, a decision that was spurred on by David’s very public comments on his marriage which labelled the union, “hard work” and “complicated”.

"Victoria was in tears over David’s harsh words and the will to save her crumbling marriage seems to have deserted her. This has clearly been a long time coming," an insider told OK!

It wasn’t long after David’s very pointed comments that Victoria decided to head to a wellness retreat for the weekend to reflect upon her marriage.

A source further told OK! that it was there Victoria started to wonder if divorce was on the cards, “She obviously needed time to herself, to reflect on the events that have torpedoed her [marriage]”.

It was after these triggering comments when Victoria and David came to Australia with their kids for the Invictus Games.

Insiders claimed the couple looked “absolutely miserable” in Sydney.

The magazine further suggests Victoria and David weren’t even sleeping in the same room while on their family holiday in sunny Sydney, and even though the couple is usually very active on social media, Victoria hasn’t posted a photo with her husband since September 17.

OK! also reports that the real reason Victoriadidn’t join her fellow Spice Girls for their reunion tour is that she's gearing herself up for a messy and expensive divorce.

The source said, “She’s not doing the tour because she’ll need every ounce of strength to deal with the problems on the home front,” the source added, “If they divorce, there’s a $1.2 billion fortune at stake.”

Both Victoria and David’s reps have denied divorce allegations.

So sad.
That is a very misguided and sentimental statement to make. Why don't you give Dangote the whole of the roads in SE and SS to construct and manage. Nigeria is far to enormous and resourceful to be compared to one single individual. How dare you compare Dangote to Federal Government. Federal Government as rotten and clueless as it might look now is worth more than 1 billion Dangotes. The contractors that was awarded the roads are to blame, that doesn't absolve government of her own complicities too but comparing her to Dangote is just not mortally wrong it is biased and sentimental also.
