The gunmen did not stop there as they also abducted the nursing stepmother of the embattled Senator, in his home state of Adamawa on Saturday.
According to reports given by locals and the police, the incident occurred in Muchalla ward in the Mubi North Local Government Area of the state. The stepmother of the Senator had put to birth only 11 days ago as was revealed by family and friends.

PREMIUM TIMES reports that the locals said that the attack happened around 1 p.m.
One of the witnesses narrated that the gunmen that upon getting to the area, “went straight to senator Ishaku Abbo’s family house and abducted the senator’s nursing stepmother who delivered about 11 days ago.”
“As they made their way with the victim, Abbo’s uncle came out of his room and on sighting the gunmen, raised alarm.
“Immediately, the gunmen opened fire on him leading to his death and they went away with the victim unchallenged. Right now the village is in mourning,” the witness revealed.

When the Sulaiman Nguroje the Police spokesman in Adamawa State was contacted, he confirmed that the incident did occur.
Nguroje further revealed that men of the Police force have been assigned to track down the assailants.
“Our men from the IG rapid response team, in conjunction with men from anti-kidnapping unit, as well as men from homicide unit, have been deployed in order to rescue (the victim) and arrest the suspects,” he said.
Despite continued reassurances from the Government, abductions and killings have persisted and seems to be on an increase in different parts of the country.
