Politics › Re: Lawan: Senate Will Act Expeditiously On Presidential Requests by LANDLORD72: 9:55am On Nov 22, 2019 |
Digitiminimi: The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Thursday said any request from President Muhammadu Buhari would make Nigeria a better place, and such would be acted on “expeditiously.”
Lawan spoke when the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Itse Sagay visited him in his office on Thursday.
Sagay had called for the timely passage of the Special Criminal Court and other similar bills, saying such would help the anti-corruption war and ensure that the fight was successfully won with speed and energy.
He also appealed to the Senate to consider the confirmation of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu.
Responding, Lawan said, “This is a new Senate. Going by our rules and I believe that goes for the House of Reps too, any issue that was not concluded in the last National Assembly, will have to start all over again.
“So, as far as we are concerned, those bills will have to come again and start to go through the process from the very beginning.
“We are ready. In fact, we are in a haste if those bills are ready for us to start working on them.”
Lawan said there was no request before the Senate for the confirmation of the acting chairman of the EFCC.
“I want to assure you that any request that comes from Mr President is a request that will make Nigeria a better place in terms of appointments or legislation.
“When such request comes, the Senate will act expeditiously to ensure that we play our part in the confirmation or passing of legislation appropriately.”

Bluebarbie10: Hello nairalanders pls I need ur opinion on this. I started dating this guy I met last 2months. He is really charming, tall, dark and average looking. I wasn't attracted to him at first but when we got familiar with each other, my attraction for him started to grow.
I realized I fell hard for this guy because when he relocated because of his job, I missed him so much and couldn't do a day without thinking of him. We always talked on phone but before he left, he did sth. While we where walking to my place one night, he started initiating the touching tingy. What I felt was so undescribable. He rubbed my upper arm to my wrist and pressed my middle palm and since then I started liking him more.
My point simply is not knowing whether I am being charmed.
We met last month and i was so excited to see him in town so he took me out on a date.
In our discussion I was talking about my annoying boss at work. I don't know if he got pissed because he just got up and left. He stopped picking my calls or answering my messages.
Please I don't know what to do because I've not been myself. No Forget him and move on am even available for true Love |

Politics › Re: Obaseki Should Kiss APC Ticket Goodbye If Oshiomhole Delivers Kogi & Bayelsa by LANDLORD72: 2:54pm On Nov 17, 2019 |
Oga can you name the functioning company in Edo state and the 1000 roads oshiomole constructed. BlackAfrican: Obaseki will most likely not get APC ticket in Edo come 2020 if Oshiomole is able to deliver Kogi and Bayelsa.
Obaseki has not achieved up to 35% of what Oshiomole achieved in Edo state as governor yet Obaseki has been demonizing Oshiomole in the state and openly and secretly persecuting those whom he perceives as loyal to Oshiomole.
All through this political crisis in the state, Oshiomole has not responded to Obaseki except for when he pointed out that the election for the house of assembly leadership wasn't done right and that the governor should issue a fresh proclamation and try to lobby for support so those who agree with him (Obaseki) can emerge.
Obaseki hasn't done this. He hasn't been able to lobby as should be the case in politics and democracy. Instead, he is using force and the power he has as governor to suspend elected LGA Chairpersons, sacking commissioners and other government appointees who dare not to support his dictatorial style while leaving infrastructure and development in the state to collapse.
Oshiomole constructed over 1000 roads as governor, built and renovated over 1000 schools across the state, built several hospitals, built a university, revitalised public transportation in the state and brought in several investors who set up companies that are actively functioning today.
Obaseki hasn't achieved half of the above yet he feels Oshiomole's advice or input isn't necessary in the state.
Obaseki is on a wrong path and except he makes a U-turn, he's definitely not getting the support of APC to continue running the affairs of the state, least he becomes another politician who will loot the state without remorse like the PDP days and use state power to silent anyone who questions him.
This is my humble submission. |
