PoliticsCan All These Be True: Fashola/tinubu’s Massive Looting Of Lagos by Larufa(op): 3:50am On Dec 15, 2012
The massive looting of Lagos state by the Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has reached monumental proportion. Tinubu whose companies recently conered a multi billion road construction job in Ogun State, has in his pocket all the juicy contract in all the Action Congress’ states.
In retrospect, it might be difficult to come to terms with the fact that an individual could hold the entire south west to ransom. There is no doubt that Tinubu has succeeded in buying the Lagos State government, and he has done this using government funds.
.
Whenever someone in Lagos begins to wonder where their 4th mainland bridge went, or what was the fate of the pipe-borne water project, or even where the schools and hospitals had vanished to, there is a silence that contains it all. The largest landlord in Lagos has done as he has pleased, and the rest of the state just has to deal with it. For instance: Number 4, Oyinkan Abayomi (formerly Queens) Drive, Ikoyi: A 5-bedroom detached house on one acre of land which was originally the Lagos State Governor’s guest house since 1979, but which now belongs to Tinubu. The certificate of occupancy of the property valued at N450 million was signed and released to him by Fashola in 2007 shortly after he assumed office.
Tinubu’s residence at 26 Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi was initially falsely presented as Oando Plc Guest House. Later, he purportedly bought it from Oando, and used public funds to rebuild and renovate it. The Lagos State Government bought the property and paid an undisclosed sum to him and thereafter gave the property back to him under the bogus Pension Bill he signed to law shortly before he left office in 2007. The property is worth over N600 million.
The annex of the Lagos State Guest House in Asokoro, Abuja was bought by the State Government in 2006 for N450 million, purportedly to protect the main house from security breach. Shortly after Tinubu left office, the property was transferred to him under the pension plan he signed into law before leaving office.
The 250-hectare land valued at about N35billion and strategically located at the Ajah junction on Lekki Road was initially meant for a General Hospital for the people of Eti-Osa Local Government but was stolen by Tinubu and handed over to Trojan Estate Ltd – a company owned by Deji and Wale Tinubu – to develop as Royal Garden Housing Estate at the expense of the taxpayers of Lagos.
The 1,000 hectares of land valued at about N75billion located at Lakowe near Abijo at Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and given to Lekki Concession Company (LCC) which is partly- owned by Tinubu and Fashola and being developed as golf course and housing estate by Assets and Resource Management Ltd (ARM) as ADIVA project.
The prime land of 157 hectares with 2.5km of Atlantic beachfront valued at about N10billion and stolen by Tinubu from the communities of Siriwon, Igbekodo, Apakin, etc in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and given to Ibukun Fakeye – his crony to build a golf course and luxury villa with little or no compensation to the villagers. In addition, Tinubu paid $20million (N3billion) out of public treasury to Ibukun Fakeye to commence the project in late 2006. Fashola has since released additional funding for this project, which is not owned by the state government.
The 14-hectare Parkview Ikoyi Estate foreshore land reclaimed by Lagos State Government is now owned by Bola Tinubu.
While in office, he allocated to himself the former Strabag yard beside the Lagos State Secretariat at Alausa, Ikeja. The property is now being developed into a shopping mall as big as the Palms in Lekki. This is public property brazenly stolen and now owned by Tinubu, aided by Fashola.
The choice property at Lekki-Epe road on which he built and owns the multi-billion Naira Oriental Hotel and the extension of multi-storey car park beside it. Also, the multi-level recreation centre by Mobil in Oniru Estate on Lekki-Epe road jointly owned with ARM and Tunji Olowolafe. All these assets valued at over N25billion were obtained without paying a kobo to the Lagos State Government.
Tinubu and Fashola sold the following prime Lagos properties to their personal friend and front – Prince Dipo Eludoyin at very ridiculous prices:
• The 3.8-hectare of land of Lagos State Fisheries office in VI (beside the Institute of Oceanography) valued at N3billion.
• The fishery landing jetty at Badore (where the Ilubirin fishermen were to be relocated) valued at N500million
• The entire Ogudu foreshore scheme initially earmarked for a low-cost housing scheme valued at N5billion
• The Ilubinrin housing estate (which used to house Lagos state civil servants and judges up till 2007) valued at N2.5billion.
• The former Julius Berger yard at Oko Orisan, Epe valued at N450million.
Tinubu raised a loan of N4.7billion on Eko Akete project for which nothing was achieved before he turned around to sell the property to his Chagouri friends of Chagouri & Chagouri and Hitech Construction Ltd at a ridiculously low price at the expense of the taxpayers of Lagos.
Tinubu applied to personally purchase the Federal Secretariat building while in office. When he couldn’t get to buy it, he directed Fashola to stop the eventual owner of the complex to develop it. The complex is presently wasting away courtesy of the Lagos State Government.
It took several months of horse trading and underhand payments before Fashola could allow the new owners of 1004 flats to redevelop the complex. Several other buyers of Federal Government properties and developers of properties in Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Government Reservation Area Ikeja were forced to succumb to the outrageous demands of Tinubu, Fashola, Commissioner Abosede and other officials of the Lagos State Physical Planning Ministry and were made to pay ridiculous amounts to private accounts before their redevelopments were approved. Those who refused or were unable to pay could not develop their properties. This is a major economic strangulation of property developers and has contributed largely to the skyrocketing rent in Ikoyi, VI and Lekki axis.
Tinubu converted all the plots of land where Lagos Polytechnic was located at Ikosi near the old toll gate. He chased away the Polytechnic in 2006 and went ahead to locate the choice plots to himself, his cronies and political associates. The headquarters of Television Continental (TVC), which is owned by him, is located there. He deprived the youths of Lagos of decent education because of his greed.
Tinubu solely sold the prime land on Aboyade Cole, Victoria Island which was recovered from some allotees, to UACN Properties Plc. The amount of proceeds was shrouded in secrecy.
Eludoyin, fronting for Tinubu, built the estate directly opposite Goshen Beach Estate in Lekki area.
Tinubu’s wife, Remi Tinubu, built the massive New Era Foundation youth camp at the junction of Eleko, off the Lekki-Epe express road, with Lagos State funds and has now converted it to personal use.
Tinubu owns the Fara Park Estate and the Beach Wood Estate both in Lekki.
The Critical Care unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, built and equipped with state funds, is now owned personally by Tinubu. He has put one Dr. Sikiru Tinubu, (a supposed cousin of his) to run the outfit. It is run as a private unit and the proceeds are pocketed by the duo. The unit charges its users exorbitantly and most Lagosians can hardly afford to pay its high charges. Much of the revenue is derived from fees paid by the State Government for patients referred there by its General Hospitals.
Several prominent Nigerians in the judiciary, police, INEC, and other sensitive agencies have obtained prime land from former Governor Tinubu and incumbent Governor Fashola over the years without paying a kobo. Many of them had turned around to sell the land to third parties at substantial profit. Many top officials in the police, INEC and the judiciary who participated in the 2003 and 2007 elections and tribunals in states where Tinubu has interest were compromised with parcels of free prime Lagos land and cash. If the Lagos State Land’s Bureau could publish the names and identities of beneficiaries of land allotees from 2000 to date, the scandal that will result is better imagined. Gbenga Ashafa, now a Senator, and Mrs. Awofisayo were the conduits through which these acts were being perpetrated. Both were also personally involved in various dubious land transactions on their own.
Prime land and properties have been used to pay off public officials who are personally close to Tinubu and Fashola for “jobs well done” or for being privy to sensitive information, notably:
(a) Dele Alake, former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, was sold a whole house on Alexander Road, Ikoyi where he lived as official quarters at a give-away price.
(b) Rauf Aregbesola, Osun State Governor, who was a former Commissioner in Lagos as well as Muiz Banire, also a former commissioner, got detached houses at Ladoke Akintola Street, GRA Ikeja for their “good job” while serving under Tinubu.
(c) Yemi Cardoso and Wale Edun, both former commissioners, were sold houses on Iru Close, and another location in old Ikoyi at give-away prices by Tinubu.

Foreign AffairsUSA Presidential Election Fraud: More Suspicious Voter Forms Are Found by Larufa(op): 4:11am On Sep 30, 2012
MIAMI — The number of Florida counties reporting suspicious voter registration forms connected to Strategic Allied Consulting, the firm hired by the state Republican Party to sign up new voters, has grown to 10, officials said, as local election supervisors continue to search their forms for questionable signatures, addresses or other identifiers.

After reports of suspicious forms surfaced in Florida, the company — owned by Nathan Sproul, who has been involved in voter registration efforts since at least the 2004 presidential election — was fired last week by the state Republican Party and the Republican National Committee. The party had hired it to conduct drives in Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia.

In Colorado, a young woman employed by Strategic Allied was shown on a video outside a store in Colorado Springs recently telling a potential voter that she wanted to register only Republicans and that she worked for the county clerk’s office. The woman was fired, said Ryan Call, chairman of the Colorado Republican Party.

The Florida Division of Elections has forwarded the reports of possible fraud to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for investigation. Prosecutors in some affected counties are also investigating. It is unclear how many forms have been forwarded, in all: in Palm Beach County, the election supervisor found 106 suspicious forms, but the number in several other counties is far lower.

Bay County has found eight suspicious forms with the Republican Party registration code connected to Strategic Allied. In Pasco County, three have been found.

The state Republican Party, which paid the company $1.3 million to register voters here, said it would file an elections fraud complaint against Strategic Allied, which is based in Tempe, Ariz.

PoliticsThe Culture Of Waste, Corruption And Mismanagement At The National Stadium Abuja by Larufa(op): 12:16am On Sep 11, 2012
Built at the cost of over N54 billion during the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Abuja National Stadium was controversially constructed to hold the All Africa Games in 2003.

Like many public institutions the stadium is in terrible shape today as a result of neglect and mismanagement.

As shown in these photos, the National Stadium Abuja has been left to deteriorate over the years just like its counterparts in different parts of Nigeria.

The main pitch of the stadium is slowly turning into a forest while the power supply has been cut off from the facility for some time now. The stadium is currently under the management of Federal Capital Territory.

Femi Ipaye, a popular photo journalist with the News magazine, who was at the commissioning of the facility in 2003 and has been part of different sporting activities that were held there over the years. Mr. Ipaye visited the stadium and presents the state of the facility before now and its current state by way of this photo documentary.

PoliticsHouse Report: Why Federal Govt. Must Remove Fuel Sudsidy ( Satire) by Larufa(op): 8:59pm On Apr 26, 2012
Similarly, the committee wondered if CBN could be unaware of the forex scam in the subsidy bazaar. To qualify for forex transaction, an applicant or marketer must be an importer of petroleum products. To qualify for this, the port of loading must be outside Nigerian territorial waters. This ambiguity was cleverly exploited by Nigerian marketers who then instructed their sellers to berth a few nautical miles outside Nigerian territorial waters where ship to ship, STS, transfers between the seller’s mother vessels and the Nigerian marketer’s shuttle vessels were carried out. These STS operations often occurred offshore Cotonou or Lome illegally.

Legally, STS should only be carried out in areas so designated by the concerned country. In the case of Nigeria, the STS locations were not known to any country. “We established that no port duties or other legal levies were paid to any country. It was a massive illegal activity and we were unable to establish the existence of such practice anywhere else in the world,” stated the committee.

This encouraged round-tripping, and it was found that some vessels claimed to be making two impossible trips in three days between the imaginary Offshore Contonu/Lome and Lagos. Foreign importers admitted they were ready to berth in Nigeria but being businessmen, they did the bidding of their Nigerian buyers. Vitol SA and Trafigura, two leading foreign importers, confirmed as much. “No responsible seller will flout these regulations,” stated Vitol SA, which made over 250 voyages of PMS to 34 different marketers in 2011. The same foreign importers, including Vitol and Trafigura discharge all PMS belonging to NNPC/PPMC in Nigerian territorial waters and discharge those of other marketers offshore, yet no regulatory agency raised eyebrows because the sleaze is beneficial to all. The explanation is that NNPC is not affected by CBN forex regulation as it deducted its forex claims directly from source. This way, CBN “created through its forex policy avenue for easy falsification of records of quantity of petroleum products discharged.”
PoliticsFuel Sudsidy Fraudsters Should Go To Jail CBN Governor by Larufa(op): 8:43pm On Apr 26, 2012
CBN governor Sanusi yesterday called for a criminal investigation into the multi-billion naira fuel subsidy fraud, saying those responsible should not only pay back stolen funds but also go to jail.
“No one can ignore these findings. We should have proper investigations,” Sanusi told the Financial Times in London.
“People who are established to have been involved in a fraud should not just pay back the money, they should go to jail. If we don’t do that we cannot ask people to pay more for fuel . . . There is a strong moral and political argument on the need to hold people to account,” he said.
Sanusi added that he knew of one company that had acquired assets in the US with the proceeds of oil subsidy fraud.

PoliticsJonathan's Bloated List Of Aides by Larufa(op): 1:53am On Jan 18, 2012
Let's face it, the increase in fuel price, by whatever name called, is aimed at increasing the revenue base of government at all tiers. And why do the government need more funds? One reason is to be able to meet its obligations. Much of that unfortunately is to sustain the humongous governance structure made up of unnecessary list of political offices and officers created and appointed to settle the inept ruling/political class.

Let's start by looking at the list and designations of aides in the Presidency and see if they are necessary at all. President Goodluck Jonathan in June 2011 sought and obtained the approval of Senate to appoint 20 advisers to assist him in running his government. However, the President has, in apparent breach of the number of aides approved for him, gone ahead to appoint at least 24 advisers as at the last count.

Beyond exceeding the number, the designations of the appointees also raise serious questions as to the necessity of the appointments. Let's consider a few.

Dr. Tunji Olagunju, Special Adviser to the President on NEPAD and Dr. Pius Olakunle Osunyikanmi, Special Adviser to the President on International Relations. Apparently, these two offices could have been handled by a single person. Besides, why do we have to appoint a special adviser to the president on these when there is a ministry of foreign affairs with more than one minister, permanent secretary, directors and possibly a department in charge of NEPAD?

Mr. Oronto Douglas, Special Adviser to the President on Research and Strategy. Sentiments aside, what exactly is the role of this office and couldn't it have been carried out by a permanent employee in the Presidency?

Prof. Abubakar Sambo, Special Adviser to the President on Energy. Really? What distinctive 'special advice' is the President expecting from the incumbent here that the ministers for petroleum, energy and power cannot give?

Mrs. Sarah Akuben Pane, Special Adviser to the President on Social Development. One is too stumped to even comment on this. Mrs. Sarah Jibril, Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values. What a joke! Who even monitors what, if any, work some of these appointees have been carrying out?

Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs. What would the minister and the minister of state for the Niger Delta ministry be doing and what about the head of the Niger Delta Development Commission?

Prof. Dan Adebiyi, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties and Senator Isaiah Ballat, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties (Office of the Vice-President). Could someone please unpack this designation for us. Same request suffices for Nze Sullivan Akachukwu Nwakpo, Special Adviser to the President on Technical Matters and for Mrs. Asma'u Abdulkadir, Special Adviser to the President on Gender Issues. What on earth amounts to 'technical matters'?

And there are also Yakubu Abdullahi, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters (Office of the Vice President); Mr. Bashir Sufyan, Special Adviser to the President on Legal Matters (Office of the Vice-President).

Professor Nwanze Okidegbe, Economic Adviser to the President. What economic advice would this officer give the President that the National Economic Management Team members including the Minister of Finance and the Minister of National Planning cannot?

Senator Ben Obi, Special Adviser to the President on Inter-Party Affairs. There is absolutely no reason to appoint a special adviser for just this function, when there is Ahmed Gulak, Political Adviser to the President just as the designation of Dr Mariam Ali, Special Adviser to the President on Inter-governmental Affairs.

Perhaps the most curious is the Special Adviser (New Media), Reno Omokri. In clear terms, he is special adviser on Twitter and Facebook matters! This is aside the fact that there is a Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. Strangely, the 'Twitter and Facebook special adviser' is not attached to the office of the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity but to the Special Adviser, Research and Strategy.

By the way, these special advisers would ordinarily have their own personal assistants and other aides.

PoliticsJonathan’s Buses Were Bought By Late Yar’adua by Larufa(op): 6:14am On Jan 10, 2012
Investigation has revealed that those buses launched by President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday were actually bought by late President Umaru Yar’Adua .

Pointblanknews.com sources hinted that Yar’Adua’s administration bought the buses as part of his efforts to boost mass transit.

The buses were packed behind the banquet hall at the presidential villa.
Shortly after the removal of subsidy, Jonathan announced some palliatives. They include the purchase of 1600 buses for the mass transit program. The administration said the buses would be on ground on January 9, 2012.

Shortly after, Trade and investment minister, Segun Aganga, debunked speculations that the buses would not be in Nigeria less than six months. He said they would be on ground before the January 9, 2012.

The speculation was based on the fact, that importation of that volume of buses will take more than one week.

PoliticsRe: Newsflash: NJC Suspends Justice Salami by Larufa(m): 2:37am On Aug 19, 2011
The decision is dead in arrival.
It null and void , of no effect.

The news has just broken that the National Judicial Council, at its meeting of today, has “suspended” Hon Justice Isa Ayo Salami, the President of the Court of Appeal, from the office.

This decision of the NJC is illegal and unconstitutional. It is condemnable and we hereby condemn it

Why do we say that the decision of the NJC is is illegal and unconstitutional and why do we condemn this decision?

First, the NJC is aware that Hon Justice Isa Ayo Salami, the President of the Court of Appeal has instituted an action in the High Court not only to challenge the constitutionality of the panels, set up by the NJC to look into the crisis of confidence that is plaguing the Judiciary at the apex levels, the recommendations of the panels, but also the decisions of the NJC, based on those recommendation, chief among which was the directive of the NJC to Hon Justice Ayo Salami to apologize to the outgoing CJN and the NJC for allegedly lying on oath. The NJC has publicly acknowledged that it had been served court processes in this regard.

Now, the Rule of Law in Nigeria, with which we are familiar, is that once a civil matter is placed before a court or judicial tribunal for adjudication, parties to the court action must refrain from doing anything capable of overreaching, undermining or foisting a fait accompli on the court. Doing so will not only be tantamount to subverting the rule of law, but also will amount to treating the court with contempt, the punishment of which is imprisonment. No matter the impatience on the part of parties, they are under a legal obligation to await the outcome of the resolution or determination of the issues submitted to the court for adjudication. This was the golden rule laid down by the Supreme Court in the case of Gov. of Lagos State v. Ojukwu ( 1986) 1 NWLR. Pt. 18, pg 621 at 623, where it was stated that “once the court is seised of a matter, no party has a right to take the matter into his own hands; and that ‘after a defendant has been notified of the pendency of a suit seeking an injunction against him, even though a temporary injunction be not granted, he acts at his peril and subject to the power of the court to restore the status wholly irrespective of the merit as may be ultimately decided’”

The question, therefore, is why has the NJC acted in this patently illegal manner? Why should the NJC that ought to be the bulwark for the promotion of rule of law, be subversive of the rule of law?

Second, the NJC has no power to suspend Hon. Justice Isa Ayo Salami from office. It can only, competently, recommend his suspension, to the President, in deserving cases, and the President can only act on such recommendation if it is supported by a two-third address of the Senate. This is the only rational and reasonable interpretation of the governing provisions in the Constitution.

Although the National Judicial Council has the power, under the Third Schedule, Part I, Paragraph I, Section 21(b) of the Constitution to recommend to the President the removal from office of the President of the Court of Appeal and exercise “disciplinary control” over him, it is clear that by virtue of Section 292(1)( a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, any recommendation of removal of the President of the Court of Appeal from his Judicial Office can only be effected by the President, acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate.

For the avoidance of doubt, the said Third Schedule, Part I, Paragraph I, Section 21(b) of the Constitution provides that “ the NJC shall have power to recommend to the President the removal from office of (the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the Justices of the Supreme Court, the President and Justices of the Court of Appeal, and the Chief Judge and Judges of the Federal High Court) and to exercise disciplinary control over such officers”

Section 292(1)( a)(i) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 provides that “a judicial officer shall not be removed from his office or appointment before his age of retirement, except in the following circumstances (a) in the case of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the President of the Court of Appeal, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and President, Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by the President( of Nigeria), acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate, praying that he be so removed for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or body) or for misconduct or contravention of the Code of Conduct”.

It is our contention that just as in the case of removal of any removal of the President of the Court of Appeal from office, any exercise of power of “ disciplinary control”, over him, such as this suspension, must be subject to the approval of the President, acting on an address of two-third majority of the Senate. The correct interpretation of the above-cited provisions of the Constitution is that if the President of the Court of Appeal can only be removed from office only when a two-third address of the Senate directs the President to do so, in the same vein, the President of the Court can only be effectively and consummately suspended from office by the NJC, with a two third endorsement of the Senate and a decision of the President to that effect. This is the principle of checks and balances that is crafted in the Constitution.

It will, therefore, be wrong and presumptuous for the NJC to assume that it has a leeway to get rid of Hon. Justice Isa Ayo Salami, without recourse to the Senate and the President, by unilaterally “suspending” him from office. If the trinity of the judiciary, the executive and the legislature have to co-operate to remove a judicial officer from office, they must also co-operate to suspend him from office. The NJC cannot carry out its patent aggression against Justice Salami by resorting to a “ suspension from office” under the “ exercise of disciplinary control” clause.

It must be made clear that the appointment of Justice Salami to the position of the President of the Court of Appeal by the President of Nigeria, subject to the confirmation by the Senate, cannot be cavalierly subverted by the NJC, acting alone, and acting wrongly for that matter. This is not akin to a case of interdiction in the civil service, warranting the suspension of a civil servant, pending the outcome of an administrative investigation panel. The office of the President of the Court of Appeal is created by the Constitution and protected by it. And the President of the Court of Appeal is granted a security of tenure under the Constitution. The NJC cannot act to effectively remove the President of the Court of Appeal from office by latching on to “exercise of disciplinary control” shibboleth. This is an unacceptable violation of the provisions of the Constitution.

The third ground for condemning the action of the NJC is that the NJC’s action is likely to further erode the independence of the Judiciary, polarize and weaken it. By “suspending” the 2nd highest ranking judicial officer in the Federation, on this very flimsy ground of “refusal to apologize” the NJC has further dragged the Judiciary into the cesspit of Nigeria’s politics. The action of the NJC is thus self-degrading.

In the circumstances, we advise Hon. Justice Ayo Salami to disregard the latest directive of the NJC, pursue his case in Court, and challenge the latest unfortunate breach of the provisions of the Constitution, sadly by the NJC

We only hope Nigerians lawyers have not reached a critical stage to enact the act of civil disobedience that was adopted in Pakistan, not too long ago, to sanitize the Nigerian Judiciary.

PoliticsPakistani Used ‘chemical One’ Poison To Kill Abiola by Larufa(op): 2:27am On Aug 03, 2011
HE type of poison used to kill General Sani Abacha and Basorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (M.K.O.) Abiola in 1998 is known as ‘Chemical 1’ in espionage and diplomatic circles and it is one of the most ‘deadly and scariest’ poisons in the world.

It is colourless and odourless and can be injected into the skin, dissolved in a liquid, or simply released into the air. Any target will be dead in minutes.
Presidential candidate of the National Action Congress (NAC), Dr. Olapade Agoro, who is close to Nigeria’s security circle, disclosed this yesterday, while reacting to the revelations by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Abacha, Major Hamza al-Mustapha, at a Lagos High Court.
al-Mustapha declared on Monday before Justice Mojisola Dada that a high-level conspiracy, involving some senior military officers, civilian and foreign collaborators, led to the murder of Abacha and Abiola on June 8, 1998 and July 7, 1998 respectively.
He is billed to appear in court again today.

Agoro, a cleric and businessman, said the poison was the type used by the United States (U.S.) to try and eliminate Adolf Hitler during the Second World War “but he was saved by his girlfriend”.
He also alleged that Abiola, being an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), would not have been killed if he had heeded the warning of the American agency that he should renounce his mandate.

Agoro revealed that a late Yoruba leader was in the United States (U.S.) when the plot was hatched to kill Abiola during the General Abdulsalami Abubakar regime and he may have collected part of the $200 million, 75 million pounds and N500 million withdrawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to bribe South-West leaders.
He said: “Al Mustapha’s revelation came late but was truthful, strong and damning. The type of Chemical 1 used on M.K.O. and Abacha could only be produced for that type of a deadly assignment by the Western power, particularly the U.S.

“Considering the fact that some agents of the West were present when M.K.O. was served the tea, a liquid he took last before he died, one can reasonably conclude that he was poisoned, using Chemical 1 which once taken dissolves into the blood system within a minute and, thereafter, becomes untraceable. “The U.S. attempted killing Adolf Hitler with Chemical 1 in tea during the Second World War but the plan was voided by Hitler’s girl friend.

“Abiola was an agent of the FBI. The agency told him it was enough but he did not heed and that was why he was eliminated. They used the nurse treating Abiola to poison him. The nurse was a Pakistani and you know Pakistan is also an agent of the U.S. The lethal poison cannot be procured in Nigeria”.
In his reaction, Afenifere chieftain, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, said al-Mustapha must mention the names of the Yoruba leaders who collected the money and Abubakar must speak whether his regime withdrew the sum from the CBN for that purpose.

Adebanjo, who maintained that Afenifere had always insisted that Abiola death was a conspiracy, said: “We have always maintained that Abiola ‘s death was a conspiracy. al-Mustapha was the CSO then, so he knows all the details. If what he is saying is not true, Abdusalami should refute the allegation.
“al-Mustapha said he is being persecuted because he knows too much about what transpired and how Abacha and Abiola were murdered. Let him (Abdusalami) produce his own video and audio tapes about what happened; how Abacha and Abiola died to counter the al-Mustapha’s tape. The truth shall come out one day”.
To the founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Fredrick Isiotan Fasehun, he was not one of those who collected money from Abubakar.
He said: “I can assure you I’ m not one of the South-West leaders he was referring to. Nigerians will always be Nigerians, whether from the South, North or East. Corruption sustains our government at any level”.

OPC National Coordinator, Otunba Gani Adams, said: “The information is true. It was through the connivance of some Yoruba leaders that Chief M.K.O. Abiola was murdered. And you will realise that it was about the same time that Abdusalami was going through the South-West states to induce some leaders. You will discover that none of the notable leaders were there when Abiola was buried. They stayed away, it was the masses that buried him.

“Abiola, Bola Ige and Funso Williams were murdered without any clue to their death. Abiola was traded off because of the selfish interest of some leaders. If they want to deny it that they took money, al-Mustapha may be forced to open the Pandora Box and name them and the amount they got each from the Abdusalami-led military junta. We have to talk now, this is not the time to keep silent. It is true that some people took money to compromise Abiola and the pan-Nigerian mandate bestowed on him”
But, Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, yesterday described the allegation as wild.

Fasoranti told the Nigerian Compass that al-Mustapha’s allegation was not only wild but an afterthought in order to wriggle out of the murder charge hanging on him.
According to the octogenarian politician who was in the forefront for the revalidation of Abiola’s mandate, there was no sharing of money among Yoruba leaders that he was aware of to betray the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Pointedly, Fasoranti said what sl-Multapha said was a contradiction of the reality of the situation, adding that he should substantiate the allegation instead of making sweeping statements that may embarrass Yoruba leaders.

Legal luminary, Aare Afe Babalola, also said that al-Mustapha should be bold enough to give the names of those who collected the money.
He said: “In the interest of the whole Yoruba race, he should give the names of those leaders who collected the money”.
In his view, the Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Rev. Felix F.Ajakaye, advised al-Mustapha not to heat up the polity, calling on him to give facts of the matter and not be a propagandist.

However, the Director of Africa Network on Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), a non- governmental organisation and public analyst, David Ugolor, yesterday described al-Mustapha as a man “who has no history of integrity” and “an interested party in the entire Abiola saga”, particularly concerning the military onslaught and several killings that characterised the then military era under which he served.
Ugolor told the Nigerian Compass: “Mustapha is an interested party in the whole Abiola saga and whatever anything Mustapha says, one would want to see how opportunity would be established for it to be confirmed and because I don’t have the other side of the story, it will be difficult for me to completely say what Mustapha said is true or not.
“He was a key stakeholder in the entire process, he was in Aso Rock. He also has his own interest. Mustapha has no history of integrity in terms of human rights. So, when Mustapha is saying anything, you have to be cautious. So, the fact that he is in prison now, he wants to whip sentiments, there is no doubt. He is like a sinking man but as that may be, whatever anything he said, it will be wrong to throw it out completely because I think that we need to reflect on things that happen in this country if we must move forward in constructive development.

“What that means is that we learn lessons from the past and so when you see actors who were in the corridors of power in the past saying anything particularly of such status of Mustapha, it will be wrong to completely throw it out. So, I feel very strongly that Nigerians will need to actually investigate this.”
The ANEEJ boss maintained that beyond what Mustapha said, “he has the responsibility to make those audio and video evidences he claimed that he has available to human rights groups who I think are in a better position to make the reprint or republication of those materials available so that it can generate public debate as to the role individuals played during that time because I think this is one of the things General Babangida had also referred to that he agreed to take responsibility for the annulment of the June 12 election but, at the same time, if you read his commentary ever since, you will note that he didn’t take that decision just alone. There are people who jointly took that decision with him and to a large extent, those people are hiding under Babangida’s non commitment to disclosing who played what role.

“So, when you have a Mustapah coming out clearly to say things about how the government treasury was looted to appease some individuals in the South-West who particularly were aggrieved as a result of their son who was killed, it gives room for more investigations.
“It is the same characters of people either by offshoot or friendship that are still in power in the last 20 years. So, if Mustapha ever expect justice from the present government in dealing with issues that he has exposed, he is on his own but I think the better way to move forward in ensuring that what Mustapha has said is that Mustapha should be bold enough to make all these information available to human rights groups and I think human rights groups should be able to make good use of it to make further debate and once there is a public debate, I think that is the only way we can bring pressure to this government to set up an independent panel of inquiry to investigate the veracity of the statement credited to Mustapha.

“In this country, people are chameleon. You don’t know the identity of people, you hardly see people being honest and you see a man today who is on the other side against the people, suddenly when power returns, he becomes an apostle of integrity. But if this kind of statement is coming from actors and we begin to know what role everybody played in the past, one will begin to appreciate the kind of characters of leaders we have today in this country. You will be surprised that somebody who is actually a part in the death of Abiola will be a major beneficiary after his death and to a large extent because the populace have no information and then you know we don’t have the freedom of information to access some of these fundamental information.

Please everybody go back and watch Yekini scored Nigeria 1st ever goal at the World cup, the nearest person to Yekini was Emmanuel Amuneke. After the goal was scored Amuneke just held the post and turned back. He did not make any attempt to celebrate the goal. It was Uche Okechuckwu, a defender, that came all the way from the back to celebrate with him 1st. In fact it was a known fact that the head of the hatred mafia was the team captain - Stephen Keshi, remember the issue of the invitation of Chidi Nwanu.

What I believe Olishe is doing now is trying to clear his conscience and right the record.

Nobody can rubbish Awo's legacy.

Awo was and is still till the most important Yoruba after Oduduwa as rightly written by Sam Omatseye.

During "Daani elebo," or Daniel the Fetishist (wrt Olatunji Dare) era in Ogun State, Mama H.I.D was a willing tools, to the detriment of any right thinking resident of Ogun State.
