Politics / The Emperor In The Senate by Larufa(m): 5:17pm On Feb 22, 2018
On June 09 2015, the nation experienced what could be described as hubbub with the crass emergence of Abubakar Bukola Saraki as President of the Senate.

Prior to his emergence, The All Progressives Congress (APC), had chosen Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan as its candidate for the Senate Presidency, but in a stunning blow to the head, Saraki, with the block support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some APC senators, defied his party’s wish to emerge as Senate President.

A major drama that played out before his emergence as Senate President was that of him shunning a meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), where Saraki had reportedly fumed that he could not be summoned to a meeting by a mere commissioner, a comment he later denied making.

Despite all these, coupled with his affection for the opposition party, PDP, at his party’s detriment, he has convincingly escaped party’s punishment, thanks to the party Chair, Chief John Oyegun’s inefficiency. Saraki, no doubt enjoys the lucrative and goodies that come with his office so much that he reportedly has a little above 200 aides to himself.

Overtime, Nigerians have seen and read how Saraki has used the institution to punish his colleagues that express contrary opinion or views. His “beloved son” Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West, has been permanently hired as hatchet man for the job.

On March 21, 2017, former Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, at the floor of the plenary, urged the Senate to investigate the allegations that an armoured Range Rover, reportedly belonging to Saraki, said to have cost N298m, but which the chamber later said cost $298,000, was seized by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

The lawmaker also called on the upper chamber of the National Assembly to investigate the certificate scandal involving Senator Dino Melaye.

Recall that an online news medium, Sahara Reporters, had alleged that Dino Melaye did not graduate from ABU for his first degree, against his claim that he studied Geography in the prestigious institution.

The news medium also alleged that Melaye, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, bribed his Head of Department, who assisted him to forge his transcript.

In related development, Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), had allegedly seized a bulletproof Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) owned by Senate President Bukola Saraki.

However, rather than investigate Ndume’s motion, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions issued him six months suspension “for bringing Senator Dino Melaye, and the institution of the Senate to unbearable disrepute.”

The committee concluded that Ndume’s story “was cooked up with intent to embarrass the Senate President.”

The nation would however not forget signatories to the report and are: Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Senator Obinna Ogba, Senator Jeremiah Useni, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Senator Matthew Urhoghide and Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.

In what appears to be another looming suspension of opposing view, the hatchet man, Dino Melaye, on Tuesday February 20, raised a Point of Order on the floor of plenary demanding that Oma-Agege be probed.

Recall that it was same Melaye that raised the point of order that led to the suspension of Senator Ali Ndume for six months in March last year.

Melaye said, “President Muhammadu Buhari is not only my party man; he is a president we all laboured to vote for. My colleague, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, addressed the media last week. He said the decision taken by this senate was targeted at President Buhari.

“I want to ask that the statement made by Omo-Agege, among other statements, be investigated by the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions. They need to find out if our actions were targeted at the president, he added.”

Senator Omo-Agege, with nine others: Senators Abdullahi Adamu, Malam Ali Wakili, Abu Ibrahim, Abdullahi Gumel, Binta Masi, Yahaya Abdullahi, Andrew Uchendu, Umaru Kurfi and Benjamin Uwajumogu had addressed the press where they expressed reservation over the change of elections sequence.

If a ranking Senator Ali Ndume could get a six-month suspension, Omo-Agege may be served a year suspension from the Senate for opposing the almighty Saraki. As it stands, the Senate has rejected Omo-Agege’s apology, and he is as good as gone.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on his part, got served as same hatchet man, Dino Melaye, signed the letter announcing his sack as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF).

The letter which was read on the floor of plenary by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, named Senator Aliyu Wamakko (APC Sokoto), as the new Chairman of the forum-.

Each time a point of order is being raised by the hatchet man – Dino Melaye, and the day the victimized Senator is suspended from the Senate, Saraki has found a way not to attend plenary but delegate Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, to chair plenary for the day and perfect the malicious act.

It is also important to note that progressive Senators in the red chamber are yet to stand against this draconian act, probably because Saraki is yet to touch one of theirs. But how long would they wait before it gets to them?

I will end my note on this broadcast message: “God shall continue to bless President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing Saraki to emerge as Senate President. Saraki now stands exposed and Nigerians can truly see his true character.

If Buhari hadn’t allow him, Nigerians won’t have known how intolerant Saraki is and by now they would have been packaging Saraki as a suitable presidential candidate. Thank God for Buhari, Saraki has been exposed as intolerant of opposing views. Imagine if he were President, by now Saraki would have banned Facebook and Twitter.”

Politics / Re: Fresh N10bn NHIS Scam: Buhari Presidency Stinks, Has No Honour Left- PDP by Larufa(m): 1:15am On Feb 20, 2018
Escalze:
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the attempts at concealing a N10billion fraud perpetrated by the officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have shown that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari stinks and has lost all honour.

The PDP made the declaration in a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan. The opposition party was referring to an exclusive report on the theft, which showed how the recently reinstated Executive Secretary of the NHIS, Professor Yusuf Usman, and other officials made unauthorized withdrawals from enrollees’ funds in two installments of N5 billion each from the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA) in the Central Bank of Nigeria, which is under the direct purview of the Presidency.

According to the PDP, the country is being pushed daily to the precipice by the Presidency's incompetence. It added that it is the height of hypocrisy for a government that is superintending over illegal withdrawals and theft stealing of funds to parade itself as fighting corruption.

The PDP stated further that the only logical explanation for the concealment is because the Presidency was complicit, while the stolen fund is being used to service members of the cabal around the President.

“Nigerians can now see the level of debauchery associated with this administration. It is appalling that a government can be so depraved that it superintended over the stealing of money meant to provide healthcare for the citizens. We challenge the Presidency to speak out on this report as well as similar reported sleazes that has occurred under its watch,” said the PDP.

It wondered who in the Presidency authorized the withdrawal of the money from the TSA and who the beneficiaries are. It equally wondered what the Presidency will say about the revelation that it ordered the reinstatement of the indicted Professor Usman to help conceal the illegal withdrawals and shield members of the cabal around the President, who were involved in the deal.

“Until and unless the Presidency clears its name by investigating, exposing and prosecuting those involved, it must directly be held responsible for this wicked act against Nigerians, who daily suffer hunger, depravation and death owing to the corruption in the All Progressives Congress (APC) government,” stated the PDP.

It called on Nigerians and the international community to note that the Presidency failed to act on the leaked memo showing the fraudulent award of $25 billion oil contracts at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), an agency under President Buhari’s direct supervision as Minister of Petroleum.

It also added that the Presidency has refused to explain the alleged involvement of its officials in various shady oil subsidy deals as well as reported diversion of N1.1trillion worth of crude in 2017 to service the interests of the APC.

“Nigerians are aware that the Presidency has continued to shield fraudulent cabinet ministers, including those known for extorting funds from agencies under them, in addition to those indicted for corrupt enrichment. Indeed, this government stinks and has irredeemably lost all honour,” said the PDP.

Education / Nigerian Student: Ifeoma White-thorpe Gets Accepted By All 8 Ivy League Schools by Larufa(m): 12:42am On Apr 05, 2017
A New Jersey (Nigerian) teenager has to make a decision soon most high school seniors can only dream of -- deciding on which Ivy League school to attend in the fall. The problem, if you want to call it that, is that she was accepted into all of them. All eight of them.
Ifeoma White-Thorpe said she was shaking when she got the eighth acceptance letter.

"I was like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, like this might be eight out of eight and I clicked it and it said 'Congratulations' and I was like oh my goodness!" White-Thorpe told CNN affiliate WABC-TV.

White-Thorpe, a senior and student government president at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, has to choose between Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown.

She wants to study biology and pursue a career in global health. Since all of the Ivy League schools "have great research facilities," she decided to apply to them all.

Students getting into all of the Ivies is a monumental feat, but it's happened to a handful of teens over the past couple of years -- Kwasi Enin in 2014, Harold Ekeh in 2015 and Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna and Kelly Hyles last year.

So where will she go?
Her parents said the choice is totally up to her; White-Thorpe said she just doesn't know yet.
She can add another elite school to the mix as well -- she also got into Stanford.

Nonsense. All he needs to win this case is to present his certificate to the courts. Sowore is in a very deep poo.

No, the suit is more than presentation of certificate, he is claiming damages/financial loss.

The burden of proof is on him, that:

1. He fulfilled the university requirements for graduating - admission letter, list of courses taken/passes/fail, his CGPA.

2. He indeed graduated -- transcript, certificate and graduation booklet.

3. His credibility, integrity and character.

4. Demonstrate to the court damages to all (3).

5. How (4) caused him financial loss.

This case is dead on arrival.

To win a libel suit is one of the toughest, if not impossible for a Nigerian politician; Melaye of all people.

All that SaharaReporters lawyer have to do is to raise the issue:

1. of his ex-wife battering.

2.his extra-marital affair with Bisi Ibidapo-obe resulting in his denial of the baby-boy.

3. pictures of his past uncivilized behavior at the house of "mis"- representatives.

4. His operation of foreign account contrary to Nigeria constitution.

5. Collecting money for his nonexisting constituent office

6. force to provide sources of sudden wealth

All Dino Melaye is what Fela called "SAKARA OLOJE NIIII" -- empty threats

Politics / PDP Battles Ghost Workers, Pays Staff In Cash by Larufa(m): 3:04am On Mar 28, 2016
The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has detected ghost workers on its payroll after ordering the workers to line up and collect their salaries in cash.

Investigations by our correspondent showed that the precarious financial situation of the party forced its leadership to take the action.

It was gathered that the National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, was worried about the huge salary bill of the workers and decided to take action aiming at ascertaining the actual number of workers at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Sheriff was said to have inherited about N872m debt when he assumed office about a month ago.

Worried by this, Sheriff was said to have taken members of the National Workers Committee by surprise when on Thursday he directed the workers to get their salaries in cash.

A management employee, who spoke with our correspondent on Sunday, said that they were surprised when they (the workers) were directed to assemble inside the National Executive Committee hall at the national secretariat.

He said, “Sheriff has started the restructuring of the PDP for efficient and effective performance.

“March 24 will ever be a day to remember in our party. On that day, as early as 11am, the NWC and members of staff of the PDP, under the instruction of our national chairman, moved into the conference hall.

“The chairman also joined everyone in the hall. And to the surprise of all, the business of the day was the payment of staff salaries, which was done department after department.

“One after the other, after individual’s physical verification of each file and identity, thereafter you are then paid your salary in cash.”

The exercise was chaired by the national chairman who directed the National Treasurer, Mr. Buhari Bala, to call the workers by their departments.

Another management worker said, “Names of all the workers were called according to their departments and once you heard your name, you would come out to collect your salary by hand.

“This order was followed by the national treasurer and some employees of the Finance Department, who assisted him.

“All heads of departments were on the ground to observe the exercise.

“So, when a name was called, the person came out and his/her file was opened for verification before cash was paid to such a worker.

“And at about 6:30pm, the chairman left the hall to attend to other meetings, while the national treasurer continued to call the names of employees.

“In the absence of the national chairman, he called four departments, amongst them were the Youth Department and Security Department.”

Before calling the security staff on the list submitted, Bala was said to have complained that the list was too lengthy.

It was gathered that Bala realised during the payment that the security department had what he described as ghost workers and security personnel, as the names of policemen called were those who had left the service of the PDP immediately after the resignation of the then National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, about two years ago.

Some of the workers at the national secretariat had called on Sheriff to set up a panel to investigate those behind the scam.

One of them said, “The outcome of what happened on Thursday was an indication that salaries of those ghost workers were being collected by someone over the years.

“Ghost workers were also discovered in the other departments.”

It was gathered that seven policemen, who had left the party more than two years ago, were still being paid.

The affected policemen (names withheld) comprise of a DSP, an ASP, two inspectors, one sergeant and two corporals.

One of the police officers, who left the party some years ago, was posted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, but was still collecting salaries from the PDP or someone was collecting it on his behalf without his knowledge.

It was gathered that the pays included N12,000 allowance for conventional policemen and N30,000 for riot policemen.

It was also gathered that personal staff of past national chairmen, majority of whom had defected to other political parties, were still being paid by the party.

“If this isn’t true, then someone is collecting their salaries without their knowledge. A proper external audit of the members of staff must be conducted. Then the party must investigate those who have been collecting the salaries of these ghost workers,” another source added.

Bala, who confirmed the exercise, told our correspondent that the national chairman ordered the action.

He also said that some fictitious names were discovered during the exercise.

1. There is a legally conducted election

3. More than 90% of the election is conducted already

4. And don't forget the candidate and his deputy contested on a joint ticket and thank God the other partner on the ticket ( faleke) is alive and well

5. The votes were voted and recorded for the party and not in the candidate's name.

6. The election to be conducted is just a supplementary election which can never void the main election.

7. election been inconclusive is not same as been invalid.

Politics / President Jonathan’s Men Produce Evidence Of Corruption By NWC Members by Larufa(m): 12:48am On May 04, 2015
President Goodluck Jonathan's associates have released up documentary evidence that members of the National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stole funds belonging to the party's treasury shortly after President Jonathan lost the presidential election on March 28, 2015.

Two close associates of the president spoke to SaharaReporters on what one of them described as "shameless stealing of party funds by officials entrusted with running the affairs of the party."

The two sources disclosed that President Jonathan felt betrayed by the "greedy actions" of the NWC members. The Presidency sources gave SaharaReporters internal vouchers showing that the party's NWC members shelled out over a quarter of billion naira in unexplained fees to themselves on April 8, 2015.

The monies, which were paid out of the party’s Zenith Bank account number ending with 6016, revealed that the party's national chairman, Adamu Muazu, was paid N100 million through Julius Berger PLC while the deputy chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, received N40 million. The documents provided by the Presidency also revealed that the PDP's national secretary, Adewale Oladipo, got N30 million. Other members who got N30 million each include Buhari Bala, who is national treasurer of the party, Bolaji Akpan Anani, national financial secretary, Olisa Metuh, national publicity secretary, Adeyanju Fatai, the party's national auditor, Abubakar Mustapha, national organizing secretary, Kema Chikwe, national women leader, Victor Yusuf Kwon, national Legal adviser, Hussaini Maibasira, and the deputy national secretary, Onwe Solomon.

Apart from the scandalous payments, another set of documents shows that the PDP also compelled delegates to its annual convention to pay N10,000 each into the private accounts of Marufi Nigeria Limited. One of the Presidency sources described the company as a fraudulent front linked to a top member of the NWC.

One of the Presidency sources stated that the NWC members contributed in a large measure to the defeat of President Jonathan, adding that they more interested in pursuing their private material interests than the party's corporate interest. "They were too busy helping themselves to party funds as President Jonathan's campaign suffered."

In a fierce rebuttal, several of the NWC members told SaharaReporters stated that President Jonathan was the architect of his own failure. "He was the person running the country, not members of the NWC. If Nigerians turned against him, it's not because of anything the NWC did or didn't do," one member said.

Another NWC member accused the president and his closest associates of operating the president's multi-billion dollar campaign using structures outside the party.

One member of the NWC accused President Jonathan of planning to hijack the party in order to place his loyalists in place in anticipation of running for office again in 2019.

The NWC member accused Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State of leading the plot to remove the Muazu-led NWC.

"We are determined to ensure that nobody can just pocket a party that many eminent Nigerians contributed to establish," one NWC source vowed.

Before going to press PDP Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh told Saharareporters that the payments was made to assist NWC for the Governorship and state house of assembly elections that took place on April 11th 2015. He said that since the Presidency was more concerned about transparency, they Presidency Campaign Council should publish how it gave out N700 million to each state and most importantly how the Presidency spent Nigerian resources in the last 6 years.

Fayose's Electoral "victory" is not God's will for Ekiti state but that of PDP-Army rigging machinery (EkitiGate voice recording) but now there is new Leaders in town. He has to pay for all his atrocities, PDP arithmetic 7 is more than 19!!!!!!
