Politics / When Buhari Was Is Charge: His Achievements by Larufa(m): 2:11am On Jan 09, 2015
"The short time Muhammadu Buhari was in office, though there was no equal distribution of wealth, there was safety and security from armed robbers, abductors, kidnappers, hired assassins and the men of the underworld. Despite his high-handedness and the abrupt termination of his regime by the gap-toothed, aged despot and the destroyer of our nation, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, Nigerians find a way to love him, now even more than then.

Here are GMB’s achievements put together by SaharaReporters’ comedian-satirist Adeola Fayehun on her show “Keeping It Real With Adeola Fayehun” The achievements were attained in just two years in office between 1983-1985.

· Before becoming Head of State from 1976-1978, as petroleum minister and head of NNPC under Olusegun Obasanjo, he built 3 oil refineries in Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna. Nigeria was refining and exporting its own oil. He also masterminded the construction of 20 oil depots across Nigeria, laying over 3200km of pipeline

· He took over from a very corrupt government (similar to what we find ourselves in today), and ensured as many corrupt public officers as possible were punished

· He reduced inflation from 23% to 5%. The Naira was closely competing with the dollar and pounds and Nigerians could spend Naira abroad. He refuted pressure from the IMF to devalue the Naira to promote trade and resolved to trade by barter in the international market. This led to the IMF supporting the candidacy of IBB, who helped carry out their plans

· He instilled culture of discipline in Nigerians, and promoted the principle of first come first serve, regardless of position or class and discouraged oppression

· Under Gen. Sanni Abacha's regime, as chairman of the PTF during his four-year reign, he constructed more roads than the Nigerian government has constructed in the last 15 years, along with construction of several amenities

· He remains the only past president without foreign accounts and real estate in the country and beyond the shores of Nigeria. He has one house in Kaduna and another in his hometown. He has no oil well and currently lives on pension. He discovered late Dora Akunyili (R.I.P) and nominated her for a position in NAFDAC

· He is the first head of state to put women in cabinet and there's no proof of him being an Islamic extremist as widely rumored, in fact he has domestic staff that is Christian"

Though one thing is indisputable: Jonathan's Transformation Agenda has ruined Nigeria. Nigerians must wake up to the reality of the choice before them. Of course, voting GMB is not the only answer. But in the short term, it is, to be candid. The engagement of Nigerians in the politics of politics is essential if we want a change.

I am not blind to the fact that Jonathan and PDP have the money but we have the people. The problem with us is that we allow their money to show up more consistently than our own people do. In this election cycle, this must stop.

Politics / Wikileaks Revelations About Jonathan’s Incompetence by Larufa(m): 6:16am On Dec 27, 2014
President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaigners started it by latching on WikiLeaks revelations about US Embassy dispatches on Nigeria’s opposition politicians, such as Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Now, the All Progressives Congress researchers have also furrowed into WikiLeaks data base to bring out dispatches on President Goodluck Jonathan.
And these documents paint Jonathan as grossly incompetence, corrupt and sectional. The APC researchers even submitted the documents with an open letter to Dr.Reuben Abati, who they alleged brought out the WikiLeaks on Buhari and Tinubu.

AN OPEN LETTER TO DR ABATI ON PRESIDENT JONATHAN’S LONG HISTORY OF INCOMPETENCE AS DOCUMENTED BY PUBLIC LIBRARY OF US DIPLOMACY LEAKED BY WIKILEAKS

Dear Dr. Abati,

It was really sad seeing a publication from your office yestersday, where you referenced Wikileaks as your source of information, since you decided to go that way, it may also be interesting to add some of the the things you forgot to tell us. President Jonathan’s incompetence had been noted right from when he assumed office as the Governor of Bayelsa State following the impeachment of his erstwhile boss, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha who was later convicted of stealing state funds running into billions of Naira. A man who President Jonathan granted a Presidential pardon in 2013. Again, kindly permit me to use the same heading for the story you ran on Gen. Buhari yesterday.

PUBLIC LIBRARY OF US DIPLOMACY

Chief of Army Staff Dambazau(2010) on President Jonathan as a sectional leader
¶3. (S) In response to the question as to whom the COAS believes is the Commander-in-Chief of Nigerian Armed Forces at this time, Dambazau, a northerner said, Goodluck Jonathan. In the view of the COAS, Jonathan holds that authority until such time as either the National Assembly implements a constitutional action returning authority to Yar’Adua, or there is some other manifestation that shows the President is capable and has resumed his duties. Dambazau
said it was unfortunate that the entire Yar’Adua health situation
had not been handled well. There were a few people around the
ailing President who were manipulating the situation for both power
and money, he noted. The COAS highlighted that the “Katsina group”
around Yar’Adua has “caged” the President off and even before his
departure to Saudi Arabia more and more Yar’Adua was not being seen
as a national figure. It is unfortunate that Jonathan is beginning
to do the same thing. The people that Jonathan has around him now
are behaving just as badly as the Katsina clique, with Jonathan
handing out favors to his ethnic group, which the Army Chief sid
was not/not Ijaw. Dambazau said the Acting/Vice President comes
from the smallest ethnic minority in Bayelsa State, and that he is
beginning to behave like a “sectional,” leader and less like a
national figure with national responsibilities. The COAS said he
has had several meetings with Jonathan and that he is a “simple man
who is easily influenced.” He gave the example of the recent
transfer of naira 19 billion of GON funds to a Niger Delta
environmental project that was done at the end of a meeting that
Jonathan had with a group from his region. Dambazau said this was
done outside of the normal Cabinet decision-making process based on
a meeting he had had with his “kinsmen.”

JONATHAN TOLD THE US AMBASSADOR HE DOES NOT ANTICIPATE STANDING FOR 2011 ELECTIONS

¶13. (C) Jonathan said he does not anticipate standing for
elections in 2011 and that he is not working towards being a
presidential candidacy. He wants to put into place an electoral
structure that will be ready for national elections. He did,
however, note that, “if they want me to run, that will be something
to consider at that time.” However, he stressed that his focus now
and for the next 12 months will be on “doing a good job and
witnessing respectable and credible elections in 2011.”
“I was not chosen to be Vice President because I had good political experience,” he said. “I did not. There were a lot more qualified people around to be Vice President, but that
does not mean I am not my own man.”
He said he is “not a politician” and had very limited experience as
an administrator, but concluded, “I will not tolerate a brawl.”
COMMENT
“It is always hard to judge how some will
behave (or surprise you) when leadership is unexpectedly thrown in
their lap. The verdict is out on Jonathan and his previously
underwhelming personality and performance needs to keep us in the
cautious lane”

JONATHAN’S BAGGAGE OF CORRUPTION AND INCOMPETENCE

¶5. (S) Clearly, reports of the President in a coma and on a
respirator do not bode well for any recovery. In addition,
Jonathan’s dispatching emissaries around town to take a
temperature check on the atmosphere surrounding what may be
his, sooner rather than later, ascendancy to the Presidency
further leads to the news that the President of Nigeria is in
his final days. We are preparing a report (septel) on the
baggage that Jonathan will carry with him into State House as
there have been past reports of corruption, political
thuggery, and payments to “militant factions” from his days
as Governor of Bayelsa State as well as questions about his
competency in general.
Source: https://cablegatesearch.wikileaks.org/cable.php?id=09ABUJA2173&q=goodluck

JONATHAN IS NOT A RISK TAKER

¶1. (C) Assistant Secretary Carson met with Lagos business
community leaders on February 7. Per these sources, Governor
Fashola of Lagos State is on the verge of being impeached despite
bringing new roads, hospitals, and schools to Lagos. The Governor
does not pay attention to the patronage networks. Vice President
Jonathan is neither a risk taker nor an activist but it is better
to have him than no one in the seat of power. Isolate and monitor
communities in the Niger Delta to force them to become well run.
END SUMMARY.

BUHARI ON RULE OF LAW

¶4. (C) On the possibility that Yar’Adua might be unable to
complete his term due to ill health, Buhari revealed that he
had been telling other northern leaders that “no
extra-constitutional measures should be taken and that the
rule of law should be followed” (i.e., that VP Goodluck
Jonathan should take over as President). He said any other
course would violate the constitution, which “would go
against everything” he is standing for with his current
appeal before the Supreme Court. Buhari then concluded that
making progress on the issues of poverty, health, and
development should trump the informal North-South rotation of
the presidency. “Ultimately, it is a question of who can
better solve Nigeria’s most pressing problems,” he said.

GOODLUCK JONATHAN CHARACTERISED AS WEAK 22 Jan 2006

¶11. (C) In the last 24 hours, we have seen a substantial
increase in communication about the hostages through official
channels and increasingly optimistic assessments of their
condition. This appears to be good news. However, the
information is coming from a single source: the Governor of
Bayelsa State directly or through his SSG. Yesterday, we
characterized the governor as weak and out of the loop, but
today he tells us he is the only one with whom the kidnappers
will negotiate. And at least one element of the presidential
committee also appears to have ruled out FNDIC involvement
without providing any justification for doing so. The
governor’s assessment that divisions within the kidnappers
will lead to the hostages imminent release sounds positive,
but so have many other statements over the past ten days.
Most of these positive developments depend on one source of
information, and we have yet to independently confirm them.

STILL ON THE DOUBT OF GOODLUCK JONATHAN’S INTEGRITY AND COMPETENCE

As Nigerians come to grips with the probability of
Yar’Adua’s demise, there appears to be growing public support
— even in the North — for Vice President Jonathan to assume
the presidential mantle. Despite widespread doubts about
Jonathan’s integrity and competence, there is encouraging
deference, at least in public, to the principle that the
constitutionally-prescribed line of succession should be
respected.

JONATHAN CLEARLY OUT OF DEPTH

¶17. (C) A Shell member of the crisis response team also
doubts the Bayelsa team’s veracity. Bayelsa Governor
Goodluck Jonathan told a reliable contact of his that he had
been personally threatened by the militia group holding the
hostages. The contact assessed Jonathan as clearly out of
his depth.

Politics / N117 Billion 2nd Niger Bridge by Larufa(m): 3:51am On Dec 20, 2014
The 2nd Niger Bridge is going to cost N117 billion for a 1.5 km bridge while the 1.3 km Lekki-Ikoyi suspension Bridge cost only N29 billion naira.

Simple arithmetic:

1.3 km = N29 billion
1.9 km = N42 billion

Interpolating and extrapolating 100% (Variation, inflation, compensation), the total cost = N84 billion.

Politics / Okupe, More ‘jonathan’ Than Jonathan By Duro Onabule by Larufa(m): 2:39am On Nov 26, 2014
Saw this nice and informative piece about Dokita Doyin "Oku-igbe":

Sycophancy is a growth industry in Nigerian public life. Even by that standard, Doyin Okupe, one of President Goodluck Jonathan’s aides, seems to have gone over. According to him, critics, especially rivals of President Jonathan for the 2015 elections should be sent to psychiatrists for necessary examination.

In addition, according to Doyin Okupe, the administration of Goodluck Jonathan is the best since Nigeria attained independence in 1960. Okupe would do well to recall his assessment of his (NPN) party’s assessment of President Shehu Shagari between 1979 and 1983, when he was one of the party’s spokesmen in Lagos State.

Between 1960 and now was also one of Okupe’s parties, the NRC. And of course, the past is too recent to forget how Okupe hailed Obasanjo without any reservation. Eventually they parted in acrimony, such that made Okupe (to) pitch camp with PDP members at national and Ogun State levels who effectively isolated former President Obasanjo in the PDP.

By the way, Okupe in assessing Jonathan, was re-acting to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s criticisms of Jonathan’s administration in anticipation of 2015 elections.

The concern is not so much Okupe’s unreliable submissions when he speaks for Jonathan. The assurance of regular power supply by now? The guarantee that Boko Haram would soonest be consigned into history? More could be listed.

Rather, the language and ever aggressive posture of a man presumed to be analysing President Jonathan to Nigerians and foreigners are very very offensive, and can only alienate Jonathan from the sympathy and understanding of Nigerians on the enormity of the problems facing his administration.

There could hardly be any of Jonathan’s predecessor who escaped public criticisms, and very harshly at that. Yet never in our history was any rival or challenger of our past leaders regarded as a potential patient of a psychiatrist. Crude and uncivilized language from the office of the first citizen in the land? Nowhere in the world but Nigeria as we now experience.

It is not clear if Jonathan endorses Okupe’s latest reckless outburst. Pity Doyin Okupe? When former President Obasanjo appointed Okupe as his media aide, there was substantial criticism of his choice but I supported him. Now regretfully, I withdraw that support. As if that will reform him.

All the same, Doyin Okupe is advised to go into history. Nnamdi Azikiwe once admonished that no condition is permanent. Before Doyin Okupe, there was once an Ahmed Gulak at Aso Rock, far less acerbic than Doyin Okupe. But the man thought himself more ‘Jonathan’ than Goodluck Jonathan. Even Jonathan eventually became disgusted in total disapproval of Gulak’s incorrigibly toxic language, still less than Okupe’s.

Only days after his last needless provocative outburst against Jonathan’s rivals, Gulak was sent packing from Aso Rock. Before Gulak was General Andrew Azazi, then National Security Adviser to Jonathan. He later died in a helicopter crash in Bayelsa. While in office, Azazi picked up the fight on Jonathan’s behalf against PDP, which he (Azazi) boldly and publicly described as Jonathan’s major problem.

Jonathan seemed to panic and rather dismissed General Azazi than lose PDP’s support, a support which is far less forthcoming today. If only Okupe can love himself. In these matters, there is no qualm in sacrificing a self-presumed Goebells, once the need arises.

Okupe also alluded to those he described as threatening to make Nigeria ungovernable for Jonathan. Only one Northern politician said so. He is not only alive but has also since, for obvious reasons, converted to advocate of Jonathan after a visit to Aso Rock. His name is Tanko Yakassai.

Contrary to political mischief, inherited and transferred prejudice, Muhammadu Buhari never threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable. Atiku Abubakar never threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable. Rabiu Kwankwaso never so threatened. Neither did Sule Lamido or any other Northerner for that matter. But Jonathan’s latest recruit, Tanko Yakassai.

The lesson Doyin Okupe will learn eventually is that the bigger the man, the heavier the fall.

Politics / Mandela’s Message To Nigerian Leaders by Larufa(m): 4:45am On Dec 10, 2013
“YOU know I am not very happy with Nigeria. I have made that very clear on many occasions. Yes, Nigeria stood by us more than any nation, but you let yourselves down, and Africa and the black race very badly. Your leaders have no respect for their people. They believe that their personal interests are the interests of the people. They take people’s resources and turn it into personal wealth. There is a level of poverty in Nigeria that should be unacceptable. I cannot understand why Nigerians are not more angry than they are.
“What do young Nigerians think about your leaders and their country and Africa? Do you teach them history? Do you have lessons on how your past leaders stood by us and gave us large amounts of money? You know I hear from Angolans and Mozambicans and Zimbabweans how your people opened their hearts and their homes to them. I was in prison then, but we know how your leaders punished western companies who supported Apartheid.
“What about the corruption and the crimes? Your elections are like wars. Now we hear that you cannot be president in Nigeria unless you are Muslim or Christian. Some people tell me your country may break up. Please don’t let it happen.
“Let me tell you what I think you need to do. You should encourage leaders to emerge who will not confuse public office with sources of making personal wealth. Corrupt people do not make good leaders. Then you have to spend a lot of your resources for education.
Educate children of the poor, so that they can get out of poverty. Poverty does not breed confidence. Only confident people can bring changes. Poor, uneducated people can also bring change, but it will be hijacked by the educated and the wealthy...give young Nigerians good education. Teach them the value of hard work and sacrifice, and discourage them from crimes which are destroying your image as a good people.”
Politics / $250 Million Bribe: Jonathan And Lamido by Larufa(m): 5:24am On Nov 18, 2013
I hope no one is duped by the faceoff between President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State being packaged as the president’s own version of the war against corruption. Last week, Governor Lamido accused President Jonathan of doing nothing about the lead he (Lamido) gave him: a minister close to him collecting $250 million bribe from an oil company. In less than 24 hours, the EFCC had swooped on two of the governor’s sons over the alleged laundering of about N10 billion. I am certainly not holding brief for Sule Lamido and his children. They may, in fact, be guilty; but would the president have given a different directive if the governor had not been such a trenchant opponent to him? If Lamido had not been in the Amaechi-led NGF and had been in the Jang-led NGF, would the prognosis have been different?

Or, let’s put it this way: why is it that, in spite of all the hoopla about Stella, the EFCC still does not know the way to the aviation minister’s house, even though her bulletproof cars run on excess aviation fuel? There have also been several reports on the petroleum minister, without any consequences whatsoever. During some of the investigations, it was the president himself that sometimes begged the National Assembly not to “embarrass” the ministers by inviting them to their committees.

It is too early for us to forget the president’s contributions to the House of Reps fuel subsidy probe. This is what happens when a leader has completely lost credibility. Governor Lamido may well be guilty of the massive corruption charges as alleged, but Nigerians are reading other meanings into it.

And, by the way, where is the report of the fuel subsidy scam involving the son of another PDP chieftain? Nigerians have not yet forgotten that the PDP chairman’s son and his colleagues have been charged in court over the theft of N304 billion. It’s now over 20 months, and nothing is heard about the case anymore. The case will probably never come up again until Bamanga Tukur starts thinking of conducting a free and fair presidential primary. And lest we forget so soon, what were the president’s contributions in catching the pension robbery kingpin, apart from what Nigerians already know?

The president’s double standard did not just surface today. Evidence of it started showing even before he became president. Does anyone still remember Vincent Ogbulafor? He was the chairman of the PDP when President Umaru Yar’Adua had become sick and incapacitated. Jonathan was acting president then but Ogbulafor insisted that the PDP would still zone its presidential slot to the north. Before anyone knew what was going on, some funny charges had been slapped on Ogbulafor’s face for an offence he was said to have committed seven years earlier. Of course, Ogbulafor was forced to resign. The PDP chairman might have been guilty, but he was not the only guilty party there.

It is very hard to continue to trust the current leadership of the ruling party with power. And we are all witnesses to the quality of governance under Jonathan. Any group that sees power as an advantage for self-promotion and breaking the law must never be allowed near power. The Appeal Court has just passed a judgement declaring former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the authentic secretary of the PDP. But Jonathan doesn’t want that and has quickly got Oyinlola suspended from the party. Nobody should tell me that it was not Jonathan who did it. In their confusion, they said Oyinlola could not be reinstated because the court judgement had not been served the PDP headquarters. But the same PDP headquarters was aware enough to rush to the Supreme Court to appeal the Appeal Court’s judgement. That’s certainly not the kind of leadership you want to watch over your nation.

If many Nigerians are forced to either accept Jonathan’s accusation or Lamido’s allegation, more would rather believe the Jigawa State governor because the president has tons and tons of corruption issues he has been protecting. It may not be true, but that is the perception the president has given himself.

Nigerians now know how important to the nation the man who occupies the presidency is. Next time, we must insist that only a leader fit for a country as important as Nigeria emerges.

EARSHOT

The Disturbing $5bn Revelation From Amaechi

While we are still at it, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), has declared that, under the watchful eye of President Jonathan, $5 billion (five billion dollars) has been secretly withdrawn from the excess crude account since January. I think Nigerians will need to find out from Amaechi whether this “secret withdrawal” is another name for stealing. Amaechi is not just another Nigerian. He is the legit chairman of the NGF. That is why fighting has its uses sometimes. Were it not for this fight now, how would we have heard this kind of alarming news? It would have been a perfect impossibility for the other chairman who received 16 votes as against Amaechi’s 19 votes and who is being recognised and supported by Jonathan (remember, our president was taught by his primary school teacher that 16 is greater than 19) to give us this patriot’s information.

Now, this is a very serious matter. If any president can just do this without any consequences at all, then, we don’t need democracy. What then is the use of the National Assembly? If this National Assembly would take any action (which might include several sanctions including impeachment and removal from office) and if the allegations are indeed true, then, let us just forget it. And, on this matter, let every senator and rep answer his or her father’s name. Our country cannot be dying – no water, no power, no security, no quality education, etc, etc – and this level of stealing is going on unabated. If it is not fuel subsidy, it is Stella; if it is not pension funds, it is stolen security money; if it is not blackout, it is no pipe-borne water; and the list goes on and on and on…

The Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) decried yesterday a situation where the Abuja-Lokoja highway contract awarded for N42billion in 2006 has risen to N116billion (about 170 per cent).
The committee summoned the management of four firms handling the project to appear before it.
Committee Chairman Abdul Ningi gave the directive when Minister of Works Mike Onolememen and the Managing Director of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Mr. Gabriel Amuchi, appeared before the committee in Abuja.
The four contractors are Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) Nigeria Limited, Dantata and Sawoe Nigeria Limited, Bulletin Construction Company and Gitto Construction Company Nigeria Limited.
Ningi said the firms were being invited to explain the “scandalous review of the Abuja-Lokoja road contract sum with over 170 per cent from 2006 to date.
He frowned at a situation where the Abuja, Abaji, Lokoja road, which was awarded at the sum of N42 billion in 2006, has been reviewed upwards to over N116 billion by the ministry to accommodate some technical deficiencies.
He further expressed concern over the increasing cost of road construction in Nigeria, saying that what obtains in Nigeria is far beyond other countries in Africa.
Minister of Works Mike Onolememen who appeared before the committee after three summons apologised to the legislators.
The Minister said the SURE-P Board had so far spent over N178 billion on four major roads and two bridges across the country between 2012 and 2013.
He listed the four roads and two bridges to include the Abuja-Abaji-Lokoja road, Kano road, Maiduguri road, Enugu-Onitsha road, the Benin-Shagamu-Ore road, the Second Niger Bridge and the Oweto bridge, linking Benue and Nasarawa states.
According to the Minister, N85.5 billion was spent on the roads in 2012 from SURE-P, while the ministry paid N61billion. Also in 2013, N93.4 billion was expended on the roads, out of which over N67 billion was paid from SURE-P.
On the over 170 per cent increase on the Abuja-Lokoja road, the Minister said the original contract was awarded without the requisite designs.
He added that the consultant for the road project had been blacklisted by the ministry for not taking appropriate technicalities into consideration before approving the road design.
Onolememen also said the construction work on these four major roads and two bridges have reached advanced stages, expressing hope that the Abuja, Abaji, Lokoja road would be inaugurated by the end of next year.
He said that if all monies allocated to the ministry under the SURE-P is released, the Abuja-Lokoja highway project would be completed next year because most of the companies handling the job have reached 70 per cent completion.
The lawmakers also grilled Amuchi over the allocation of N1.3 billion as operational and labour cost out of the N4 billion it got from the SURE-P programme for road maintenance and rehabilitation last year.
Ningi lamented that facts before the panel suggest that FERMA has turned the SURE-P money into “Father Christmas” by spending N1 billion on labour cost in the name of paying 6000 youths it was said to have engaged as direct labourers.
Amuchi had informed the panel that the agency pays each of the engaged youth the sum of N18,000 monthly.
However, Ningi said it was not necessary since the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity had already engaged the youths under the same SURE-P arrangement.
Ningi also directed the FERMA boss to submit details of all the beneficiaries of the programme to the committee within one week.
The lawmakers also queried what they called duplication of projects by FERMA in 2012 and 2013 budgets as contained in their submissions.
Although, Amuchi explained that FERMA purchased equipment with the money but the lawmakers said having procured similar tools in 2012, there was no need for the agency to repeat the same items in its 2013 budget.

I don't think it's about losing your culture but rather modernizing it, so that it becomes relevant in 2013.......

Why should I be prevented from going out because some people are doing Oro celebration? Do they have more rights than me? Why should they impose their celebration on my freedom as a fellow Nigerian?

Any religion or tradition that infringes on another man's right should be put to an end !!!!!

I think Oro people have the right to celebrate but telling people not to go out is pure infringement on human rights.

How about people with medical needs or needing emergency? They should die just because some minorities are partying?

Thanks @obo_man, only if you will say same to Redeemed Church, Deeper Life, Mountain of fire, Nasfat and other religious bodies that are always in the habit of obstructing free flow of traffic and human movement, noise pollution etc during any of their programs.

What about the Redeemee Church, Deeper life, Mountain of Fire, Nasfat etc, all having the programs on the every busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway??
and obstructing vechicular movement to other parts of Nigeria. The Oro festival organiser are even better in informing residents about the do's and dont's during the duration of their activities.

Politics / Pilgrims Refuse To Say “Amen” To Oritsejafor's Prayer by Larufa(m): 12:57am On Oct 28, 2013
The latest effort by President Goodluck Jonathan to save the neck of his embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, hit the rocks last night in Israel.

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who arrived in Jerusalem on Saturday, was drafted to broker peace between the Minister and members of the National Assembly who are currently investigating her stunning purchase of two BMW armored cars, a scam that was first exposed by SaharaReporters.

Ekweremadu called a meeting of two Nigerian lawmakers in the country, a Senator and a Member of the House of Representatives, to meet with the minister. The meeting was attended by Ekweremadu, Stella Oduah, Rep. Jagaba Adams of Kaduna Kachiya/Kagarko federal constituency, and Senator Philip Aduda, who represents Abuja. Also in attendance was Kola Adesina of Sahara Oil and Gas, a company now seen to be a front for President Jonathan.

However as the Minister declared her intention to “resolve” all differences by bribing both houses, Senator Aduda told her directly that it would be in her interest to return to Nigeria on Monday and appear before the House on Tuesday. The Senator said while the Senate could be pacified by bribing the committee on Aviation led by Senator Hope Uzordimma, the House seemed hell-bent on getting to the bottom of the matter.

Following the advice of Adua, Rep. Jagaba told the Minister “Let’s “get to Abuja first,” suggesting that his ability to intervene on Mrs. Oduah’s behalf depended on her returning home first.

Mrs. Oduah reportedly broke down at the meeting, pleading with Ekweremadu to use his wider contacts to save her.

The meeting ended without any specific resolution on how to help the Minister.

Meanwhile, a mild drama ensued at the River Jordan when the Nigerian delegation in Israel led by President Jonathan went there yesterday to offer prayers, led by the notoriously partisan President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ayo Oritsejafor.

After praying for President Jonathan and several dignitaries at the venue, Mr. Oritsejafor then specifically prayed for Mrs. Oduah, but to his surprise several people in the gathering refused to say “Amen” to his prayer, stunning the CAN president and Mr. Jonathan. Several people then exchanged glances and moved on.

If President Jonathan thought the controversy about the BMW car scam would quickly away, he is mistaken, as calls for the prosecution of the Minister grew louder over the weekend as it emerged that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the agency arm-twisted to purchase the cars, cannot physically located them.

Also today, the Abuja–based online news platform, PREMIUM TIMES, reported that the office of the National Security Adviser has said that neither the Minister nor the NCAA applied for, or received the mandatory “end user certificate” for the cars. Similarly, several sources at the Federal Road Safety Corps have told SaharaReporters that the agency never presented the cars for licensing.

Politics / Bode George: The Conspiracy That Sent Me To Jail (tinubu Not Involved). by Larufa(m): 1:40am On Oct 11, 2013
Former National Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode Ibiyinka George, in an interview with journalists in Lagos, recounts his imprisonment ordeal. Shola Oyeyipo presents the excerpts:

What are your reflections on your incarceration?

Looking back, it was a trial that strengthened me. It was a trial that exposed me to the awesomeness of the Almighty God. God told us in his word, the Holy Bible, that He didn’t say we will not have trouble, but that if you trust him, He will be with you. I remember the first few days when we were convicted; I was hell shocked. The initial reaction was that I was being cheated as a soldier. And once someone does that to you, your adrenaline will rise. Thank God I couldn’t get an AK 47 as at that time. We went into the prison, settled down and my wife brought my usual prayer books.

Can you recall what led to your imprisonment?
It was like a joke. It was like a huge joke. First of all, the management team had some disagreements among themselves. They were fighting. They came to report to me what was going on amongst them. And I tried to intervene. But the friction was getting bigger and stronger and I reported to the president, then Baba (President Olusegun Obasanjo) was the president. I said, sir, the management in Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), is having problem among themselves; I don’t know what to do.

He said I should tell the minister. Thank God that minister is still alive today. So I reported to the minister that you need to intervene in this management friction. Eventually, they set up a committee to look into the NPA. The committee gave a report of what they found and there was nothing to with the board or me. We were told that Baba said they should do a forensic examination. And they did forensic investigation.

If you would remember, Ribadu, when he was asked, said there was nothing; that if you have any political problem with Bode George, you go and solve it with him. If you have any information, you can come with it. It is systemic failure. Those were his words. Nobody ever invited me for any questioning until, there was change in government. I was the Director-General of the campaign that brought Yar’Adua and Jonathan in. Before the struggle for position started my mind was on the party issue. By that time, I had spent about eight years in the management of the party.

There were maneuvering; the usual petty fighting; innuendos. That wasn’t my own. I have retired in the military after over twenty years and got to the rank I did. So I went abroad to have a break. I thought the chairmanship of the party was going to be zoned to the
South-west. Somehow, it was taken to the South-east, which was an anomaly. I went away to cool off. By the time I return, we had a meeting at the party secretariat where they said they were going to hold another national convention.

I told them, we have just finished one convention, why another one? Particularly, they were going to look at the issue of the BoT. The party felt that the power that was given to the BoT chairman was an aberration. They wanted to expunge that from our party constitution. So they needed another constitution. I was pleading that lets wait for another few months for the party to settle down.

I remember that day as I left, somebody told me that something was brewing in EFCC about the NPA and said I should go and find out. I went to the office of Minister of Justice and Attorney-General- that was Aondoaka. That night, there was a swamp of people from EFCC in my house. You would think it was a war. They were knocking and shouting. I came out and asked what do you want? They said Mrs. Farida wants to see me. See me at this time? That was the beginning of the convoluted conspiracy.

Looking back now, you will know that some people intentionally said they wanted Bode out of any consideration, because I remember that Yar’Adua, after we finished the meeting of the zoning, had told me himself that we’ll work together in the villa. That was what he told me. I said as your Lord pleases. Those who were part and parcel of Bode must not be there were surreptitiously working. It was when we got there (EFCC) that they started saying there are charges. Now I can now look back and tell the world the conspirators.

Farida played a very key role because she was in charge. I met her once at the stairway on the way to the office of the president. I saw her with Aondaaka. He was already the Attorney-General. The two of them were coming out of the President's office. I was going in. The lady came back and was greeting me. I didn’t know her; so I asked her are you a member of staff in the presidency? Are you one of the new ministers? She said sir, I know you very well; I know your wife. It was then she said she was Farida Waziri.

Then I said now it is your husband I know very well. And we exchanged pleasantries on that stairway. Then she said there was a case that her predecessors handled and that there was nothing in it. I said which case, she said the NPA case but that there was no problem. I then went to see the president and we discussed totally unrelated things and I left. I didn’t know Aondoaka is from the same local government as she.
Looking back, I can now say okay, some people didn’t want me to work in the Villa.

Why do you think so, looking back?
They wanted an empire for themselves to control because having been the Director-General in the campaign and the man having told me we were going to work together, who could have been more stronger? That was their theory. The thinking was that having a case, nobody will give you any consideration. But you know the awesomeness of the Almighty God; everybody that was involved was kicked out with disgrace. I am saying this publicly for young persons who are coming to learn a lesson. If you continue to plan evil for people, be ready for tons and tons of evil.

Would you say internal party issues contributed to your travails and second, what is your relationship with Chief Obasanjo presently?
I was Deputy National Chairman. I was deputy to Dr. Ahmadu Ali. And then for the presidential primaries and election, I was made the Director-General. That was all. What did we do? If you did anything that was recognised or people thought was good, next is getting a position that gives you a closer relationship with the number one. It was a good working relationship. But some people had their own idea. And the only way was to punish this one.
Of course, Farida was brought in by them. So, it was easy to rope Bode George. What did we do? It was just to remove me from consideration. Not knowing that the master planner was at work; sitting there looking at these people maneuvering on the chess board. Where are they now? Some of them who were the hunters then are now being hunted.
Once you have an opportunity to do anything for the country, remember there would be a day after. There is no perpetuity and the day after, people will look at you and challenge you.
What is my relationship with former President Obasanjo? Baba will remain Baba. It cannot be like before. I was Baba's man Friday in the party and I have no regret about that. Like I always tell people, it is Turn-by-Turn Nigeria limited. You need your trusted people in certain areas in this country. Even in America. For me and Baba, there is no love lost. Baba is no longer President and I am no longer the Deputy National Chairman. But as an African child, you must give respect to the elders as it is said in the Holy Book. For me, nothing lost. If I see Baba, it is the usual greetings. It cannot be as before.

I have learnt a lot during the crisis and there was actually one major thing that pained me. After we left prison, we went to thank God and we brought Baba there. As for Baba, I don't know where that thing that we are 'celebrating criminality' came from. Because when you worked for somebody loyally and with commitment; what are we celebrating? When Baba left prison, there was thanksgiving because he didn't die there. Others who were politically incarcerated; if you don't die there, you pick some diseases. So what did you want us to do? If I invited all those people that came that day, I must be a super human being.

First of all, thank God, that I was healthy. For 18 months, I never went to hospital. I am not bitter. You remember the day we came out? At the church service, the President sent a representative. At the reception here, the first lady came. What other encouragement do you need?

Can there be a compensation for this?
God has already compensated me. I don't need any compensation. The fact that I went there, came, I didn't suffer any disease and my faculty is still razor sharp, what other compensation do I need? The only compensation that I need is to be able to tell other Nigerians to learn from this and to tell those in authority never to use their position to oppress others.

Politics / 5 Easy Ways To Become An Overnight Billionaire In Nigeria by Larufa(m): 11:10pm On Sep 03, 2013
5 easy ways to become an overnight billionaire in Nigeria By Femi Aribisala

With only some 50 years of independent national existence, Nigeria is a country reeking with “new money.” The overwhelming proportion of the millionaires and billionaires in the country are “nouveau-riche;” they became rich literally “overnight.” We are talking of people whose wealth does not go beyond a generation.

Indeed, the fantastic wealth of Nigerian billionaires like Femi Otedola scarcely goes beyond ten/fifteen years. Not only does Nigeria’s wealthy few have a short history, they often have a short future as well. The money comes “miraculously” and goes just as “miraculously.”

In my youth, S.B. Bakare was the celebrated Nigerian tycoon. Highlife stars and juju musicians eulogised him in their records. But ask a young Nigerian today who S.B. Bakare is, and I can bet my bottom dollar he has never heard of him.

S.B. has fallen off the radar and so has his wealth. It is not identifiable by any major industry or enterprise. His descendants may still be in litigation over the dregs of his estate, but undoubtedly it is nothing to write home about again. Certainly, nobody is singing about S.B. Bakare today. There are now new pretenders to his throne.

New dawn

Time was when wealthy Nigerians built something, developed something, or made something. At that time, the rich were truly captains of industry. Alhaji Sanusi Dantata made his fortune in the era of the groundnut pyramids in the North; buying and shipping them for export.

Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu had Nigeria’s largest fleet of inter-city “mammy-wagons.” He also imported “panla” (dried fish) on a large scale. Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony had a tanker fleet and a pioneering charter airline. Emmanuel Akwiwu, hauled oil-rigs and supplies for British Petroleum. Chief Timothy Adeola Odutola produced bicycle tires for the growing army of Nigerian bike-riders.

But thanks to oil, much of Nigerian wealth is no longer the product of such ventures. Yes, we have billionaires like Ibrahim Dasuki and Mike Adenuga who can still be rightfully described as highly enterprising. But even more significantly, we have tycoons who came into wealth through “wuru-wuru” and “mago-mago.” These men are hardly Nigeria’s Bill Gates.

On the contrary, they don’t have a clue what to do with their dubious wealth, and they are ignorant about wealth-creation. As such, they add little of value to the Nigerian project. Their praises may be sung today by their horde of parasitical hangers-on, but they will not be remembered for good when they are gone. As mysteriously as their wealth materialised, so will it vanish.

These men became rich through some of the following tried and tested methods, which can be relied upon to lead to one’s inclusion in the Nigerian Book of Irrelevant Rich Men. If you want to get rich quick, here is the Nigerian blueprint. But please, don’t tell anyone I “wiki-leaked” this highly-classified national secret to you.

Rob a bank

This strategy has gone through some transition. Bank-robbers used to be men of the underworld who held banks hostage at gunpoint and then made off with the cash. However, it was soon recognised that this approach has distinct disadvantages. You might get arrested and jailed. Even worse, you might get shot. It also became apparent that banks carry limited amounts of cash.

Therefore, a successful bank robbery of this violent kind might only land you perhaps 50 million naira tops, which is not even enough to buy or build a house in Banana Island. There is a better way to rob a bank with far limited risk. Simply establish a bank.

When you establish a bank, you can rob the bank every day without a gun. When people deposit money in your bank, they don’t know that they are handing over their life-savings to a thief. You then rob the bank you establish in a number of imaginative ways.

For example, you can lend money to your bank and then charge it a very high interest-rate. Better still, you can borrow billions from your bank and simply forget to pay it back. Or, you can use the money deposited in your bank to buy houses and then rent them out as branches to your bank at exorbitant prices.

This approach is guaranteed to make you a few billion naira until the EFCC policemen come calling. When they do, you can quickly fall sick, spend a few months in Deluxe Hospital Hotel and then relocate to your village to enjoy your wealth, never to be heard of again.

Join the PDP

This one is a sure banker. As a member of the greatest party in the history of Africa, you will be given a credit-card to spend Nigeria’s oil wealth. If you are not getting enough attention in the party, make a lot of noise. Abuse Tinubu on the pages of the newspapers and call Buhari an idiot.

Insist that Goodluck Jonathan should not only run for re-election unopposed in 2015, there should be a constitutional amendment to make him a life-president. This is a tell-tale sign that you are hungry; and the powers-that-be will soon invite you to “come and chop.”

As a distinguished member of this great party, the opportunities open for you to set yourself up for life are considerable. For example, you can start collecting billions for petroleum subsidy and simply not import any petrol whatsoever. You can get the government to change all car license-plates nationwide; and then become the sole supplier of the new license-plates.

You can ask the president to make you the sole importer and distributor of diesel for the entire country. Of course, this might also entail that you become the chairman of his re-election campaign, to which you duly make a handsome contribution. Alternatively, you can ask to be chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority.

Nobody will bat an eyelid when, within a matter of months, you have a fleet of cars, have two or three houses in Asokoro, and own four hotels in Dubai.

You may even kick out your wife and marry a fourteen-year-old “Suzie” befitting your new status. You have arrived as one of Nigeria’s celebrated rich men. But keep your eyes on the ball. Don’t get distracted or carried away. The enemies of Mr. President must always remain your enemies.

Start a mega-church

This one is pure genius. Peradventure you lose your job or fall on hard times. Don’t go into depression. Just start a church. Make it a purpose-built church. Think of something that men need. Tell them you have the anointing to provide it. Tell them whoever wants to be a billionaire should come to your church. Start a few of your messages with “Thus says the Lord.” Then teach your congregation the everlasting principles of sowing and reaping.

Make sure they understand that if they really want God to bless them financially, they first have to give you as much money as possible. Create a special prayer group for millionaires and billionaires. That way, if they get any new government contract they will attribute it to the efficacy of your prayers and credit something big into your bank account. Tell everybody to give you their “first-fruits.”

That is a code word for their entire January salaries. Then come up with imaginative offerings to collect, such as “prophet’s offering,” (you, of course, being the prophet); “Father, Son and Holy Ghost offerings;” “Jesus will do it offering.”

Very soon, you will be flying your own private jet to preach your gospel in Ilesha; you will be wearing white Armani suits and jerry-curling your hair; you will be collecting gate-fees for new years’ eve services; billionaire thieves and robbers will be queuing up to see your private-secretary on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. In short, you will be living large. For good measure, you will also be slapping demons out of poor bewitched damsels with impunity.

Become a mule

There is high demand for this job. There are many politicians and men of timber and caliber looking for mules; men who can keep stolen money for them, or smuggle it to safe havens abroad. This is a highly lucrative job because for every ten billion naira you smuggle, you can pocket one billion. Don’t get greedy and come to the conclusion that you can make off with the entire loot.

That is a sure way to have assassins on your tail. Before they kill you, they will first break your legs. If you are caught while smuggling money abroad, you can easily escape and come back home dressed as a woman. Then you can get a national merit award.

If you are a mule for a president or a governor, you are set up for life. You will get 24 hours military protection so that no petty thief can come near you. You will get to travel all over the world. You will get free medical check-ups, so that you don’t just fall down one day and die.

That would be disastrous, especially if your sponsor does not know exactly where you kept his loot, or if he does not have the password to the secret account you opened for it in the Bahamas in the name of Ali Baba.

Obituary

I remember the story of a former Nigerian Head of State who allegedly kept a billion dollars with a mule. Then the mule had a stroke. Every effort was made to get him to say just a few words, namely the number of the account where the loot was stashed; but to no avail.

After a few months, the man died. This “national” calamity has prompted the review of the conditions of service of mules. There are now two new, strictly prohibited, clauses. Mules must not have strokes, and under no circumstances should a mule presume to die. If he does, his generations yet unborn will suffer for it.

(P.S./N.B. If you have perfected other Nigerian approaches to quick wealth than these, don’t hesitate to let me know. I promise to keep the matter strictly confidential.)

Religion / Oro Traditionalists Perform Pastor Ajanaku 's Burial Rites by Larufa(m): 4:44pm On Aug 22, 2013
The news making wave around that Pastor Ireti Ajanaku resurrected may after all be lies as a contrary report from Gazelle news has it that the pastor is confirmed dead, and that the Oro traditional worshipers have already incredibly conducted a funeral rite for the late pastor.

The Report according to Gazelle News has it as thus:
Incredible! Oro Worshippers Hold Funeral Rites For Pastor Ajanaku
By Jumu’ah Abiodun

It may sound incredible but it is true. The late founder and spiritual leader of the Christ Revival Victory Chapel International, Pastor Elijah Iretiola Ajanaku, might have belong to the Oro cult in his lifetime.

Residents of Ikola Odunsi, where Ajanaku lived before he breathed his last on Saturday evening at Gbongan in Osun State, were surprised early Tuesday morning when Oro masquerades went to town in funeral rites for the departed ‘Pastor’.

The funeral rites which began at about 12.30am ended between 3 and 4am.

The Oro worshippers chanted the name of Ajanaku throughout the night. The worshippers marched through the streets of Ikola Odunsi, Ikola Gbenaje, and landed at the deceased’s street, Folarin Williams Close.

They were chanting, “Ajanaku lo, o di gbere”, meaning “Ajanaku is gone forever, adieu”.

Obasanjo, The First ‘419’ President By SOS/Sonala Olumhense

As Time marches on, it becomes clearer just how tragic the presidency of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo really was. In a speech last week, he dismissed Nigerian leaders who were not good enough. Everyone but he.

And then he dismissed Nigerians for not finding him to have been exceptional. If Nigerians were yet to find a leader worthy of commendation after 53 years of independence, he declared, “Then we are jinxed and cursed; we should all go to hell.”

No, Chief, I humbly disagree. Only dishonest and unpatriotic leaders qualify for perdition.

Obasanjo was wielding his weapons in front of a captive crowd at the University of Ibadan. He cited as very bad boys such people as Atiku Abubakar, who served as Vice-President in his administration; Salisu Buhari, a certificate-forging former Speaker of the House of Representatives recently appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan into the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; and former governors Bola Tinubu, Deprieye Alamieyeseigha, James Ibori and Lucky Igbinedion.

“Abacha, my predecessor got $750m. Through our lawyer in Switzerland we recovered $1.25bn and the lawyer still said there is probably still another $1bn to be recovered…”

Actually, Abacha was not Obasanjo’s predecessor, except perhaps in duplicity. In between them, in temporal terms, there was one Abdusallam Abubakar.

But Obasanjo, The Hypocrite, has no commitment to facts or to History. Not once, during his imperious History lesson last week, did he refer to the bad seeds he sowed or the waters he poisoned or the children he starved.

But his are the shark-infested waters in which we now sink, and for as long as he tries to write the history of Nigeria to suit his bloated ego, we must never tire of reminding the world of the true story. Here are just 10 elements:
Obasanjo, The Hypocrite, benefitted the most from the elections of 2003 and 2007, which local and international observers complained were rigged.
Obasanjo was his own Minister of Petroleum Resources throughout his tenure, without accountability, and it was during that watch that the dirty practices now being unveiled by various probe panes started.
In the famous case of Works Minister Tony Anenih, The Hypocrite complained he had budgeted N300 billion for roads during his first term, but he never asked “Mr. Fix-It” about the money.
Obasanjo saw no contradiction in using the Petroleum Trust Development Fund as his own ATM.
Obasanjo brags about recovering up to $2.5 billion from Abacha alone; he never says anything about how the money disappeared.
Obasanjo has not said one word about the injustice of Anambra’s horrendous Okija Shrine or the report of the federal high-level panel that he suppressed.
Obasanjo says nothing about the assassinations during his tenure that included the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Bola Ige.
Obasanjo says nothing about the Haliburton scandal, for which various reports have indicted him, or about his so-called “anti-corruption” agencies which only targeted his enemies.
Obasanjo’s economic reform, NEEDS, died within months of being launched, and he never mentioned it again.
Obasanjo spent between $10 and $16 billion under the ruse of an electricity scheme; some of those he paid allegedly did not even clear a patch of land.

All of this is despite his arriving in office in 1999 swearing he would be different. At his inauguration, he told Nigerians: “You have been asked many times in the past to make sacrifices and to be patient. I am also going to ask you to make sacrifices, and to exercise patience. The difference will be that in the past sacrifices were made and patience exercised with little or no results. This time, however, the results of your sacrifice and patience will be clear and manifest for all to see…I will give the forthright, purposeful, committed, honest and transparent leadership that the situation demands…”

Never has more sordid falsehood been uttered.

When the 2003 rigging was completed, he returned to the microphone at his inauguration and said, “I have repeatedly called for moral rectitude, and I will continue to repeat the message. I simply refuse to accept the cynical view that Nigerians prefer chaos to order. I cannot endorse the view that Nigerians are innately corrupt…We all have a stake in Enterprise Nigeria and each of us stands a better chance in getting optimum dividends if, instead of asking "What's in it for me", we ask "what's in it for Nigeria…"

But Obasanjo, The Hypocrite, saw nothing wrong with establishing Transcorp and using it to enrich himself. He saw no contradiction in his cabinet approving money-making schemes for him.

Later, somebody asked General Victor Malu, a former Chief of Army Staff, to assess Obasanjo’s government. “In few words, it is the worst government that I have seen in this country,” the General replied. “And I am 58 years old. I have never seen a government that is so reckless in everything. It disrespects the wishes of the people, disobeys the rules or the constitution, disobeys court judgements, including the Supreme Court. I don’t think it has happened before.”

How insufferable was Obasanjo? In a speech at the 11th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja on June 1, 2005, he lamented that “past administrations fostered a culture of corruption and mistrust and thus encouraged undeserved stereotyped information and inaccurate judgments about [Nigerians] as a people and nation.” His government, he swore, would remain committed to creating “a culture of integrity, dignity, confidence and trust.”

But that was the very same day that his government approved seven new private universities from 145 applications. One of them: Obasanjo’s Bells University.

Obasanjo boisterously invokes such names as James Ibori, Tinubu and Igbinedion, but conveniently forgets that in 2006, he ignored a report he had commissioned and refused to prosecute 15 indicted governors, including those three.

The Hypocrite similarly forgets that his domestic aide, Andy Uba, used the presidential jet to launder hundreds of thousands of dollars, for which he was convicted in the United States.

Every objective evaluation demonstrates that Obasanjo is responsible for the kleptocracy that runs Nigeria today. What is even worse is that as a parting menace, he committed the greatest treason of all: handcuffing his country to a spineless, incompetent and compromised cabal he knew would asphyxiate it. And he turns around to blame it.

Still, The Hypocrite is right on one account: the Nigerian tragedy is also about followership. “If we talk about good leadership you should also talk about good followers,” he said.

Nigerians are atrocious followers. We are cowards and sycophants who would rather feed mud to our children than fight for the right to food. At the event, for instance, Vice-Chancellor Isaac Adewole shamelessly swallowed the baloney Obasanjo had just spilled all over Nigeria’s oldest university, and then questioned the nation’s political prospects in 2015.

Equally stunning, not one student was reported to have walked out, slamming doors in disgust.

Obasanjo is Nigeria’s first 419 leader, and he knows it. But he is counting on the Nigerian people, especially the youth, remaining too distracted or too scared to rise to their feet and say, emphatically and in unison: “NO,” “ENOUGH” and “NONSENSE!”

It is time. Our mumu don do!

Politics / Female Officers Join Rally For Jonathan In Abuja by Larufa(m): 3:00am On Aug 16, 2013
The Nigeria Army, Navy and Police today publicly and illegally campaigned for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 general elections as female officers from the three key security and defence forces participated in a mass rally organized by the National Council for Women Society (NCWS) which acted as a front for Nigeria’s first lady, the main sponsor of the political event at Eagle Square in Abuja.

The officers joined in a march past as part of activities to grace the occasion but the action caught many people unawares, as it is unheard-of for members of the country’s Armed Forces to be part of such a political jamboree. The rally which was dubbed a "peace rally" made little or no mention about the various crisis bedevilling Nigeria, instead it became a campaign ground for series of groups paid for by the first lady to declare support for mr. jonathan and his political ambition in 2015.

The participation of the nation’s armed forces in the event in which they blatantly expressed support for the incumbent President, with the elections over one and a half years away, may be evidence to the whole world that the 2015 Nigeria general elections may be no more than a charade if the security agencies who are supposed to provide unbiased security for it are revealed to be political supporters of Mr. Jonathan.
