Have been following this thread for quite a while now. I ve follow and unfollow. I think where most people in the diaspora missed it is the point that they want quality but cheap services. It all started when you begin to compare quotes.

Comparing of quotes shouldn't make u decide on going for the cheapest. In the real business world, most people go for the highest quote and not the lowest. You can even smell anything fishy from quotes and that will prevent you from getting into the wrong hand.

You should know dat d person giving you cheaper quote will make sure he cut corners so as to meet his own ends. It's normal... Some firms do lower their quotes but by comparing several standard quote, u should be able to make some wise decision.

It saddens me hearing so many people were defrauded but I believe you guys will definitely come over ds. It's painful not seeing what you ve paid for.

I am into Borehole drilling geophysical investigations and from my little experience dealing with people abroad, I can boldly say what they want is cheap and quality services which Is not possible to get.

I guess this is a lesson to every other million Nigerians living abroad.
I will advice Brabus to contact all his clients and settle any disagreement. I guess he would have learnt his lesson too. Good name is better than money.

We carried out the soil test yesterday, the result will be used in designing the structural framework and for processing the approval.

Doing a soil test helps determine the right type of foundation to be done on the site and saves the client from future regrets of the house tilting or sinking.
Nice one, spt at work.

It's nt dt expensive. I guess it's d operator dat s expensive.

@msogunro, d guy I contact said he won't like to take his machinery outside Lagos. He promised to check on his colleagues. So let's see Wat ll happen by tomorrow. At least to know how much they will charge.

Buying and shipping a jackhammer home, even a used one, could end up costing over N100K. I'm sure there are options available in Nigeria.

Thank you @ Larwin
100k, Bro it can't cost less than 500k. They sell it in Lagos tho. But it doesn't worth buying for a small project like dat. The last time I used it I think d charges was 25/35k per jackhammer and I hired compressor with it too.

Am yet to hear from the guy since morning would have get back to Ay.

Oga buy jackhammer from any garage sales or refurbished tools shop and send home. Hire one operator and a labourer to deal with the boulders.

Boulders tremble at the sight of correct jackhammer.
Yes O, jackhammer is the solution. Some people use aboki but I take dat as modern day slavery. By the way abokis will run away when they see that una wan kill dem with work.

@msogunro, have made a call through to your brother and a guy in Lagos. He asked me about the no of days it cud take to finish d work and I suggested 1-2days and he said he ll get back.

Re: the alakuta's you mentioned sometime ago. My people have asked around and haven't been able to locate any alakuta's.

If anyone knows of alakuta's (manual boulder breakers) in Ibadan or that can travel to Ibadan, please let me know. Ese!!
About the stones, I think have asked about your intentions on it b4.

You will need people dat use jackhammer so dey can finely cut the stones to aggregates which will be very useful for you.

It's getting real!!!

Just received some pics of the fence construction from my brother-in-law. The excavation doesn't look as neat as I've see on NL, but since I'm not on ground there is not much I can do.

See how close my neigbor's building is to the boundary.
shocked shocked I never knew your neighbor's building is this close. It's good as you define his boundary for him now.

Lol. No we don't. I can't stand the disappointment of going 80m and not getting water. Seismic data isn't 100% reliable (I stand corrected).
Had a friend who majored in Reservoir Engr and I also can read seismic data. You think you have found oil (in this case- water) and after spending billions drilling, you have to abandon well because "shale oil" or "not in commercial quantity "

Besides, curses from hurt house owners are real.
My Oga, na true u talk.... Interpretations in geophysics are ambiguous so it takes both experience and integration of geophysical methods to reduce uncertainties.

In oil companies it's not only seismic method they use, they also use Electromagnetic, Electrical, Radioactive, magnetic methods. They also go into studying various facies , chemical elements and more more just to ascertain there is oil there. They even drill test wells. The amount they spend on exploration alone is more than they spend on exploitation.

How much do they charge for this survey? most time people go to site with outdated equipment make fake report, one may be left in cold to deal with the rest.
Prices depends on your site location, it normally ranges from 20-50k. In ibadan our corporate charge is BTW 20-25k

There is nothing like outdated equipment sir, we only have improved equipment and the basic principles are always the same. What matters is having the right hand on your project.

About fake reports, thank you for bringing it up, I intentionally ignore it. I am also a victim of it. It's the 3rd party that always cause it. When you work for them, they will collect report and duplicate it so next time they get another project, they simply go to that report and do some editing and give clients without going to field. Even if they to field, they won't pay the Geophysicist because they believe they have a report they can edit for client.

So Oga mi, with all the turanchi from Larwin, what is the conclusive summary of getting water from the borehole. All those geological oyinbo too much for me ni o.

Hajji M.
smiley smiley smiley, oga mi and I tried to be simple with my turanchi ooo, I limit the use of technical terms, if my professors see all the terms am using they could kill me grin...

Lols the thing is borehole drilling is complex, even up to installation like the example of pump u gave now, thats why I don't go into installation with my clients except if they demand.... I only recommend.

@msogunro, permission to explain the water situation in your area here.

there is a borehole at a site adjacent your site (where ppl normally pack cars when they visit your site) from my inquiry they stopped at 60m I don't know the reason behind that sha. And if you follow that slope downward as if your approaching a valley the Wells in that area have water at around 6-8m. All these are surface water though and it might surprise you if they are empty in the dry season and better still you won't want to rely on surface water for your household use.

There is also a spring on a duplex around that area which am targeting for the owner, funniest thing is that the owner has already dug a septic tank very close to the point but he don't have any choice than to go ahead.

I just believe that with God, it's going to be successful we are nothing but just scientists.
