Family / Re: How Do I Train My 3 N Half Year Old. I'm Lost! by Lastbornbuns: 7:48am On Aug 04, 2022 |
Children at this age are "monkey see, monkey do". They're basically a blank slate and what they see around them is what they'll assume to be the norm. Do you and your wife kiss in front of her? No matter how sly or fast you think you were in the kissing, desist from it if you don't want her to replicate your actions. You can do kisses on the cheek or forehead for her to know show of affection is okay but it's not okay to go around kissing strangers. Also make sure the movies you watch don't have those things and family/friends don't do them in her presence. Back when my niece was going on 2, there's this pantosaurus video her mom usually puts for her. It goes "what's in your pants belongs only to you, your pants cover up your private parts.... if someone asks to see just tell them NO!" The video is hilarious but very educative and catchy. It's been stuck in my head for more than 3 years now. And it was acted out. Showing them such videos will help. Children are very innocent. You have to train her now so it'll stick. It's never to early to start this kind of education for your kids whether male or female. A lot of pedophiles seeking their next prey in this world o. For the disobedience part.. you never see something. You'll vow never to beat kids and encounter the greatest temptation of your life. It's hard but try not to beat. It's because you were beaten that your mind is first going to that line of action. Discipline does not mean beatings. You can take away her favourite toy, stop her from watching her shows, sit in a corner, face the wall or tell her she won't follow you to whatever place she likes visiting (like grandpa/ma's house/park/farm/supermarket etc) till she apologies/cleans up her mess. Don't beat o because one day she'll either become immune to such beatings or she'll challenge you when she's grown. Let's not even talk of the trauma and self esteem issues beatings give children. You want your child to be free with you and not fear that Daddy will beat her till she sees stars. Also, she's still very young. This is what they do at this age. My niece that's currently 6 eh.. I've seen shege in her hands. What I normally do is give myself timeouts when she annoys me too much or shout at her I absolutely hate beating children and seeing them get beaten. The best part is the child will eventually seek you out and apologise when their tantrum passes. Children like affection and being cuddled. Once you shout at her or punish her and she begins to cry, just give her 5 mins, she'll come and hold your leg and be crying. That's your cue to pick her up and then talk to her. Talking to them in the midst of their tantrum is useless. Wait till it passes. |

thebosstrevor1:Who are the importers selling to? Don't you think the importers will pass on the cost to their customers? Who are their customers if not Nigerians? The people paying school fees abroad are converting their naira to dollar. For those that legit earned their naira, dont you think it would pain them? The school fees are even more expensive for them. If they budgeted $10k 5m when $1=N500 and now $1=710, don't you see there is a shortfall? For those that looted their naira, they will have to loot even more naira to meet the dollars required. Also, inflation can be caused when cost of production goes up. As Nigeria imports most goods it means that invariably, cost has gone up. These things go hand in hand. You can't expect purchasing power of a weak currency to be high especially when the country imports way more than it exports. |
Politics / Re: $1 = 730 Naira??? Please What Makes Dollar Rise In Nigeria? by Lastbornbuns: 7:52pm On Jul 27, 2022 |
It's majorly because of the political and economic situation in Nigeria. Insecurity has a lot to do with it. Foreign investors are trying to recoup their losses. The country is very unstable. Plus the mad policies CBN keeps bringing out. I honestly don't know where that Governor got his own econ degree from. Demand for dollar keeps increasing and there's no supply of it. They've successfully emptied Excess Crude account.. something that could've been used to help the naira 3 Likes |

RealLagosBoy:£1200 since 2015? Your cousin did not tell you the truth. It is not possible to be earning £1200 per month in the UK and have enough left after meeting all your expenses to build a duplex. £1200 is not even up to minimum wage assuming its broken down to hourly earnings. Besides he is living there and paying bills there. So stop converting the income alone to Naira. 2 Likes |

Jman06:What research and community services have they rendered? Who has felt the impact? It is useless to produce work that nobody needs/reads/can even find. All these "reputable journals" were started by somebody. What's stopping them from having their own? With time and quality work, won't it become reputable too? I dont know about you but in my school, it's mostly the postgraduate students that teach the undergraduates on behalf of "their professors" Why don't these professors apply for grants for their research work? Is that not how its done in the West? They probably won't/don't apply/get grants because the research most of them do is of no relevance especially in the Social sciences/Arts etc. They just keep recycling the same work. Also in those countries they keep trying to emulate, their universities are not wholly funded by the government. The professors there bring in funds to carry out their research and even pay postgraduate students to either teach/research. The only thing the government does is set a constraint/subsidise the fees undergraduate students are charged for their program. If ASUU insists universities must be autonomous, they should be autonomous in full. You can't do want you want and expect someone else to pay for it! They're being paid with taxpayers money and are keeping taxpayers children at home. A quick Google search would've shown the source of the lead poisoning. Fact is; for workers in the public sector (not just ASUU), most times, their output doesn't justify the pay. It is hypocritical of ASUU to demand to be paid on similar levels of their counterparts in developed countries when this country is nowhere near developed. Are they the only public workers in the country? Why do they keep insisting on UTAS? Why can't they fix the problems with IPPIS and make it like their dear UTAS? After the 9 month strike of 2020 they're giving us another 6 months strike and you say they render community services? How chaotic would it be if all sectors had their own payment system? The cost of doing BSc, Msc and PhD shouldn't pass 8/9 years in total but because of these same professors that'll go on strike, "sex for grades", "sorting" and all sorts of rubbish, people can't even estimate how long they'll stay at BSc level. Whose fault exactly is that? Student ID card has expired yet somebody is still a student. In as much as FG is to blame here, ASUU should stop painting themselves as saints. Always talking about money that was looted as if they don't commit their own sins. Infact their meetings should be aired live on TV so the public will know what's actually going on. It's not to come out after meetings and say "agreement is on President's desk" and Ngige will reply that there's no such thing. 5 Likes |

Jman06:A primary school teacher teaches the foundation of all subjects. You'd see one person teaching maths, English, computer, French and even religious subjects to small children that don't know right from left. But a professor concentrates only on an aspect of a subject. The professor might have just one or two classes in a day then it's back to the office for them (that's if they even come). Primary school teachers stand on their feet all day! They even supervise lunch breaks. Have you ever spent a whole day with a child between the ages of 5 and 10 that's not yours? Do you know how active they are? Now imagine when you're in charge of a class that's 15+ in number, imagine getting them to keep quiet and learn. At the end of the month you're paid less than minimum wage and someone that's earning way more than what you're earning is keeping your own children at home and wasting your money. The structures in public secondary schools are even worse than those in the universities What do these professors even do? Who reads their work? When Oxford professors and scientists were working on the AstraZeneca vaccine, where were they? Now they want to earn what those people are earning. Always complaining their pay is low when the entry level pay is like 150k per month (500% of minimum wage) as if its not what's obtainable in the public sector. 5 Likes 1 Share |
