Eaztzide:To go far in Data Science, you need an advanced degree (Masters or PhD). Interestingly, all the Meta DS roles I've seen so far for the UK ask for a PhD in econ/stat/math etc. Most others ask for at least a Masters. DS is extremely Stat-heavy. In my opinion, it is far better to do a masters in Statistics than in DS because I've noticed most DS Masters are still new and don't really have great math or stat component. They'll just teach you python/SQL/ML which you could learn on your own. Beside DS is not really an entry level role; that's DA. Most DS have like 2/3 YOE in DA or something related or an advanced degree. |
I don't like this ASUU chairman. Instead of tackling the message, he keeps tackling the individual. Tfinterviews asked him a question and he's talking about how people that fled the country shouldn't be invited to make contributions or so (53rd minute) because Toyin is in Houston, USA Or is it how he threw out Rinu's statement of students' mental health because he hasn't been paid for 6 months? Like he won't be paid once they resume. Are his own children in public universities (if he has/they've come of age)? |

OK, thanks |
ultrazone:BC has an international Post graduate pathway for graduates of natural and applied sciences (Masters or PhD). No job offer required. Check bc pnp page for more details. They have a pdf of eligible courses in eligible universities. |
sinkhole:But according to Punch, a member of ASUU NEC said FG isn't serious. Osodeke said "the meeting wasn't good" How much longer will this last oh Lord? |
So the struggle is at an end at last. |
Ihee01:Internet hackers? |
Ihee01:Those numbers don't exist in any ptdf list for Imo PhD (interview and award). All the winners in Imo are on the interview list. The first 2 on UK list got it and the first person on GFM and 3rd to last got it. So what else are you saying? Seems your mind is made up to believe what you want. As for your earlier quote, I'm still an UG from the South East and I know my profile is already competitive for ptdf oss if I were to apply. That doesn't mean there might not/won't be people with better profiles than mine. Just 4 people got in and they're over 50 on the interview list for Imo. Let's be realistic with our expectations abeg. There are other less competitive and anxiety inducing scholarships out there. Find them and move on.

Hormorbusaryor:Keep up, don't relent. Don't mind school na scam sayers. Don't mind anybody that tells you first class is rubbish. If you can get it, get it. It's better to have it and not need it than otherwise. You're lucky you get to see your results after each semester. Some schools won't even let you know where you stand till you enter the next level. Work smart. Before you know it, you'll be done and even if you didn't get the first class, you'll still have a high grade. Devote the next 3/4/ years to improving yourself and you won't regret it. Sha don't bite off more than you can chew. Time management is key in everything. Take time to also chill and make useful friends. The friends you make form your network. Also befriend your coursemates/senior colleagues so you'll get tips from them on how to make things easier. Ask questions and understand how your lecturers like their questions answered. Learn how to follow them. Some lecturers don't want you to think outside the box; just return what you were given. Some lecturers want to see the extra effort from you. Just find one senior colleague that's where you want to be and follow their footsteps. Goodluck! |
Ihee01:Oga rest with your 2.2 please. You're from the South East where competition is very thick and you think you stand a chance with 9 credits, 2.2 Bsc and 4.5 msc when there are people with distinctions in o level and first class in both degrees ![]() Please let's take it as a learning experience and move on. This bitterness is unnecessary. If you think your claims are founded, there's nothing stopping you from posting on twitter and tagging ptdf handles and other "influencers" and activists. I'm sure more people will support your cause if what you're saying is true. |
MyFlair:Nawa. Why not state what you know instead of insulting somebody? Of what use is your "true" info if you keep it to yourself? |
Let us not be sore losers please. Congratulate the winners in good faith and move on. Please people with reliable insiders help us with LSS news |
Thanks for the update. |
Octave006:Please do you have any info on the lss list? |
Congrats to all the new awardees |
Ajala101:There's nothing to be scared of in maths. Work on improving your skills and you'll be fine. There are also non IT roles in demand in canada. You'd have to do your research. Or you/your wife can switch to nursing if you like. I'm sure there's no country that'd reject nurses. |
Zeekaycn:Come back to do what? When average people are being targeted by kidnappers, how much more the rich ones and the returnees? If you're so pained, you can go, educate yourself then proceed to give 20-40 years of your life and service back to Nigeria. Come back to roam the streets with certificates abi? |
Just when you think you've heard it all ![]() |
Okay, thanks for the update |
Sacramento85 and Sinkhole By Tuesday, do you mean next week Tuesday (16th August 2022)? |
Silentgroper:Even in naija here, people are doing animals. |
guobe:You still don't want to post the picture? This image you attached is showing a fat woman's leg. So basically, your issue is that a fat lady was wearing shorts. Na why you create thread make people cast her abi? Na so. Trying to feel better about yourself by mocking others. |
Ajala101:If you/your wife are willing to learn French (to boost your scores) you could try express entry. Though I don't know how your HBP could affect things. Or try Canada study visa. Your wife could apply for an undergraduate program in canada. If she's in year 2, I think she can transfer (not all unis will accept). Canada is the most cost effective (and best option imo) for studying. Even cheaper if you go as a PR. Though EE takes a lot of time nowadays. The earlier the better. Start learning a relevant tech skill (data science, software engineering/development, Web development, cloud engineering etc) since you already have the educational background. You can decide to do a diploma/certificate or even a masters to help you transition well. It's best and way easier to make the move before kids come. You could try France but the process isn't as straightforward as Canada's Good luck |
