Thanks. I wrote at British Council at Odi Street. Depends. Me, I prefer CBT. There's no need to worry about handwriting/cancellations/messy work etc. Plus the result comes out faster (in 3 days as opposed to 13) and its sent to your mail and can be redownloaded. I think for the paper based, you'd have to physically go in to pick it up and it's just that one copy. Also, some centers use loudspeaker for the paper based listening but for cbt, you get your own headset and can adjust the volume as you like. Your words are also counted automatically in the CBT writing. You can cut/copy/paste/delete as you please. When I took mine, PBT and CBT were the same price. There's a 10k difference now so it's up to you to decide. laurelbae: Congratulations again. Pls where in PH did u write. Do u advice I take computer based, really don't want to make mistakes.
Thanks |

Felicitations! Vous avez ete trop serieuse avec CO cette fois thelma76: Hello Lovely People ! An update I owe to this platform, following my previous post and your words of encouragement, j’ai repasse l’examen le 10 Juin et par la grace de Dieu, c’est termine!
CO 505 C1 CE 518 C1 EO 13 B2 EE 13 B2
I have said this story so many times, so I’d spare you the details. I’d close this with three points:
1. It’s definitely attainable! I heard about this French route a few years ago but I kept telling myself “nahh, the scores would go down, I shouldn’t have to go to this length or kill myself this much”. Last year confirmed this wouldn’t be the case with the trend of the draws, and I had to dive into action. All thanks to people who shared their timelines and stories honestly on this platform to encourage others. I saw it was possible for others juggling job, family, and many other things and figured I could do this also.
2. Find a community! This is super important. This journey is challenging especially for English speakers, starting from scratch (A0,A1 etc). It is not one of those things or hurdles you navigate privately ooo 😂, it is emotionally and mentally arduous. Thus, you need ALL the support you can get (from relatable stories/experiences, astuces, conseils, and exam stories). One of the communities you can leverage is the Telegram group (I discovered this only after my first attempt). Shoutout to those amazing human beings!!! Madam Labelle, ma belle (in her words), you all are too too much! God Bless You!
3. Leverage all resources possible but don’t overwhelm yourself with them. Get a tutor that can guide you and narrow your focus on the most important tools/resources. My tutor was instrumental in this entire journey (I posted previously about this). If you can, try to enjoy the process. If you can’t enjoy it for whatever reason…. just focus on the target and do your best. Ca va aller. Que Dieu nous aide |

Iamblessed85: What exactly is your role on this thread? You don’t come here to offer help nor enlightenment but to spread misery and dampen the morale of others. I promise you, there’s something you know right now that could help someone, but you won’t share that. I’ve never seen you respond to any genuine query here other than to be a spokesman for canadian natives that are anti immigrants.
I’d cut you some slack to say perhaps youre doing it unconsciously. If you are, then stop because your posts would discourage alot of people. I’d rather go through the process hoping than to stop along the way becsuse of a discouraging post from someone “who should know”. Remember, most times, all you need to keep going is hope, even if its false hope. Donot take that from people. I wish you the best But aurora,e is not wrong. Back in 2019/2020 a score around 470 was considered quite high. Now, that score is going nowhere unless its a category based draw. There's a category that cuts high now sef (STEM). We just have to be realistic while being optimistic. There's no point staying in the pool with a score of say, 460 and hoping the scores come down when the last general draw cut off was around 550 or so. We have to find other ways to better position ourselves. Anything you can do to help yourself/boost your points, do it French draws seem stable now but for how much longer? No one knows. Initially, french draws were cutting 300s. That last French draw was 410. It might increase further, it might not but its better to act quickly especially as learning a language is not easy at all plus the costs associated with it. I think its a bit unfair to say She's been spreading misery. This is someone that went through the French learning process herself back in 2023 when scores were not even as high as they are now. She's also quite active and helpful on the tef thread. So advising people to learn French (or find some other way to increase their odds) because the general draws don't seem forthcoming is not wrong. |

eniola1010: Abeg what is the beginner step to learning french. And which should someone go for tef or tcf. Na only jomapel i sabi o. The first step should be to properly learn the basics of the language; time, date, how verbs are conjugated, when to use what tense, masculine and feminine words with their plural forms, the different pronoms and when they're used, pick up some everyday vocab etc. I'd advice joining a school if you can for the community and immersion (if only for a few hours) but online works very well too. You could self-learn if you're someone that doesn't need the "structure" that a school will provide or something. You can check out what is expected at each cefr language level from A1 to C2 Check out the tef thread. It's a gem. |

Hushh001: Good evening nairalanders...
I just want to make an enquiry about this redeployment stuff...
I was posted to delta state to serve..after camping, I never went to my ppa because I applied for relocation outside camp to another state which is yet to b approved just processing anytime I check the portal over a months now. I later go back to delta for my documentation and clearance after missing 2 clearance but still can’t stay because of my business I’m running
The question is that....how long would I wait till my relocation get approved Nd move or I should just forget about it because it’s taking forever for it to be approved ...
Plz I need the way to go...thnx You've missed 2 months of clearance already. Be careful lest you get queried/extension of service. This is not ethical but what most people, whose relocation requests fail, do is to "ghost" their ppa (and cds) by coming to an agreement with their ppa (and cds) to not be physically present in exchange for a cut of their 33k. In which case, you'd have to show up at the LGI office once a month for biometric clearance. Just assume your relocation won't be approved again. Though I believe you can try again after 6 months of service. As you've missed 2, I don't know how that would work out for you. |

eniola1010: but its very painful watching your chances go down the drain just because you passed above par. while someone who did not do as much as you get picked Reducing your score shouldn't be that difficult now. Its a matter of claiming 1 year of work experience (instead of 3 or more)/ evaluating only your bachelors (instead of 2 or more, masters etc). The main challenge is raising the score. Not including spouse's ielts (if any). |

emmaodet: You still don't get it. It is relative. I can keep dividing it till it gets smaller then maybe you will get the big picture. While it is true that only a fraction of Nigerians can get a 3m per month job, then let's go further down. A man earning $1000 in Nigeria is better than $3000 in Toronto. Still very hard to get a $1000 job in Nigeria. A man earning $500 in Nigeria is better than a man earning $1500 in Toronto. Now, $500 job is not uncommon in Nigeria in some sectors. Let's go further down. A man earning $250 in Nigeria roughly 400k will live a better life than a man earning $750 in Toronto. Infact from $1,500 downward in Toronto, you live will start becoming miserable but you can't say the equivalent in Nigeria. Please don't do this type of comparison again. In a country that more than 50% are living below poverty line, how can you say 400k jobs are common? Minimum wage in Toronto is 16.55 CAD while in Nigeria, its 30k Naira. Most private SMEs dont even pay up to this amount. That you're earning 400k in either you're in top tier finance/tech/health. How common is that? Someone that's earning 750Cad per month in Toronto is either working part time because that's like 1 week's worth of wages. Abeg abeg. Don't do this again. Now that 1 litre of fuel is 1k and bag of rice is more than 2x Minimum wage?? You can't compare the top earners in one country to the bottom earners in another country. |

demsy21: Hello, I'm new here. I have a youngie who would like to go to Canada. He's in Ivory Coast but he's planning on coming to Nigeria to start the process. He has a C.E.P.E (Equivalent to Nigerian School Certificate). He owns shops. He's into spare parts. So, obviously, he hopefully intends to do menial jobs as a non-skilled individual over there. I need your guidance. Thanks If he can take the french exams and get nclc 7 across all bands, there's hope for pnp in certain provinces. (Ontario, for instance, has a french speakers stream for pnp). The French draws used to have cut off far below 400 but the last one had a cut off of 410. It may still come down.. He runs his own business so he should search and see what noc he can fit into. In the past, people have been able to claim work experience from their own business. Go through previous threads or search to see who it has worked for. Also, ensure he is able to meet the 67/100 eligibility for express entry with the diploma |

SemperFid: Good day everyone.
I studied optometry in Nigeria and have been working since 2022. I will be 32 by August 15 and I have created an Express Entry profile. I have my IELTS score after taking the exam last month and i scored 7.5 in everything.
I relayed this information about me to two immigration lawyers who sort of counsel people on how to get to Canada. The first one suggested that I retake the IELTS exam and aim for bands 8 or 9 OR just learn French and write the test for French.
The second immigration lawyer said I should use the PNP to bridge any gap between my application and the cut off mark.
At this point I'm confused. I know I don't want to retake the IELTS or even study any French. I just want to go with the PNP as I have read about it a lot here but I need guidelines on how to go about it.
Any other suggestion is welcome.
Gracias If you've been working as a Doctor, you might be eligible for health occupation-based draw. For reference, the last draw for that category had a crs cut-off of 422. Join the pool, Retake ielts. You can as well try learning French on the side because that one seems more frequent than the occupation draws but learning a new language takes lots of time Different provinces have different requirements for pnp. If you're in the medical field, you might be able to tick the boxes for some provinces |

aworhmabel: Hi Guys
Please i av a question.
I was in Ukraine during the war, so i applied for something called Uk Ukraine Sponsorship Visa Scheme, but unfortunately my application was refused. (This is not a normal visa, it was even free and open to only people affected by the war in Ukraine)
To cut the story short, i applied for the normal visiting visa to Canada and was approved (but i did not indicate that i have been denied a visa before, which is the Uk Ukraine Sponsorship scheme). Now I'm processing an express entry application in Canada, do i need to indicate that i had a refusal before?.
Or should i ignore as i did for my tourist visa? Please, just disclose it. Someone got a procedural fairness letter for undisclosed visa denial just a few posts back. |

Please what are the requirements to register for IELTS? I heard of international passport, do you know if NIN can be used? It can but try to use international passport because sometimes, nin might cause small wahala at the test center. The guy that came with his nin at my test center had to reschedule. His own wasn't accepted although he said it was accepted when he registered. I think I've heard something like there's an nin card that comes with a chip or so.. that might fly but I'm not really sure. Just use your passport if you have it. |

You've been receiving sound advice but seems like you want to do what's on your mind. Not only your money, you risk being banned from USA. How can you say Vesti helped you with job offer? What's the job? Do your skills match? Why would an employer hire you and pay all the fees involved in H1B for you? These are questions you need to ask yourself and be honest with yourself.
Regardless, H1B visa costs do not reach 7k usd even for the employer. Do your due diligence, not just by asking people's opinions, but by checking the official US Web pages for h1b applicants |

They told me it was done and gave me a form to fill and submit to my school, which I did. Months later I checked my JAMB profile and noticed it was changed. Until yesterday I registered NYSC batch A stream 2 2024 and when I was done with the registration, the last page that was supposed to bring up my call up later brought out to collect my exemption letter from my school because my DOB showed June 2 1966.
