I saw it coming; the way Amaechi came down to his car and went straight to the electoral officer shows that he was there to forment trouble. We saw honourable men in the likes of Fashola, Ambode, JK etc queued-up for accreditation, he rather went to the electoral officer demanding for result sheet when accreditation is still on-going. He was there just to forment trouble.

At the end of the day, he did not vote. Its a big betrayal to APC, cos they lost a vote of a party leader. He did it intentionally, so that he can be vindicated before his kinsmen that he never voted for GMB

Exigency:
Comments on this issue have been rather bias and sentimental. We should not forget that Amaechi was once in the fold and so he knows the game plan. He knew the result sheet will never be there and so that was the first thing he went for. He was not prepared to vote cos he knew it will never count. He probably has done that before too.

But what happens to all the people who stood in the sun and rain for so many hours for accreditation and voting? If their votes didn't count then a crime has been committed. It doesn't matter of their party won, their votes still didn't count and by extrapolation they really won't have a say in the gov't. If that is how the people want it, too bad. Then our democracy still has a long way to go. But I would think that reasonable people in all eras where such happens will really want to follow this up and get to the bottom of it to prevent it from happening again.

There was mild tension in parts of in Imo State on Sunday as armed security personnel, including men of the Department of State Security, the Police and the Army barred journalists from collation centres in the state.

At the collation Centre in Owerri Municipal Council Secretariat, journalists were turned back from the gate by stern looking security operatives who could not give reasons for the action.

The anxious journalists who were at the centres to get the results of the National Assembly and Presidential election results were told to return home and wait until the results were announced.

All efforts to reach the Resident Electoral Commissioner, George Ada, were abortive as his phone was switched off.

Meanwhile elections were conducted yesterday in the polling units where the exercise could not hold yesterday as a result of non availability of voting materials.

It will be recalled that many supporters of the All Progressives Congress were arrested and manhandled by security operatives at the alleged instance of the People’s Democratic Party.

Soldiers have surrounded the Kashere, Gombe home of former Gombe State governor, Senator Danjuma Goje, in an alleged bid to effect “orders from above” to arrest him.

Goje, who spoke to some Senate correspondents in a phone chat from the sieged house said he could not understand why they were after him when there was no incidence of violence or any related matter.

Describing the scenario, he said an armoured tank was stationed in front of his house with seven other hilux vehicles, while his front door has been brought down by the soldiers who were restrained by his security personnel from doing further damage.

“As I speak with you, there’s an armoured tank in front of my house led by one Commander Eze. It has been there since four o’ clock,” he said.

Going further, he added, “They have broken the front door of my house and they are only being withheld by my security. My security told me they came in seven Hilux vehicles and the order given to them is that I should be arrested by any means possible.

“They came with handcuffs to effect my arrest. For more than four hours, I have been under house arrest,” the senator disclosed.

He continued, “There is no reason for this siege because there was no incidence of fighting or disruption of public peace in Kashere so I do not understand the reason for this siege.”

A member of Gombe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Aminu (APC), and eight others are feared killed by insurgents on Saturday.
The insurgents who attacked Dukku and Nafada local government areas of the state were said to have killed the lawmaker representing Dukku South Constituency.
The insurgents, who came from Yobe, initially attacked Shole, Birin Bolewa and Birin Fulani towns of Nafada and later attacked Dukku.
There was confusion in the two areas as some voters left the polling units but others later returned to be accredited, the source said.
According to a source, the insurgents killed three persons in Nafada Local Government Area, including a policeman and killed six persons in Dukku Local Government Area, including the legislator.

Voting is not done on INEC website. Neither is accreditation or any sensitive info regarding the election transmitted through the website. Only information regarding the election. So, election goes on whether PDP likes technology of card readers or not .
