Politics › Re: Governorship Elections: PDP Targets Victory In 24 States by lastpage: 8:29am On Apr 05, 2015
Monogamy:
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adamu Mu’azu, has charged members of the party nationwide to ensure that it wins 24 states in the April 11 governorship elections.
In a statement on Saturday, Mr. Mu’azu listed the states the party must win to include Lagos, Rivers and Imo whose governorship candidates he described as “first class materials.”

So PD.Pigs are still planning on stealing RESULT SHEETS, like they did in rivers State, during the Presidential election?

What is Prof Jega going to do about this?
How will jega prevent "some" of his Staff who have been compromised, from dashing PD.Pigs, the result sheet to fill-up as they wish?

Finally, I hope Jega and INEC had done a thorough iNVESTIGATION on how its Card readers, which were working alomost perfectly,, suddenly started FAILING in PD.Pigs areas of interest!
I have a strong feeling they found a way of disabling those card Readers so as to discredit its use and make way for "manual voting"...... something those PD.Pigs thugs like Fayose and our Military, have perfected how to Rig it in their favor!

Prof Jega, abeg no fall hand this second time, you have no excuse!

I don't agree with most of you. It is better to cut a deal and let her stay in the country. At least a lot of the money stays here, and the ones outside will be brought in. It will not be good for GMB if people start running out. And in any case, how many will have to run out. There's a Hausa saying (Gaba tafi baya), which GMB himself acknowledges will be a guiding principle in this regard. When translated, it amounts to something like: There are more days ahead than what has passed.
Zero tolerance for corruption..means exactly that: ZERO!

No deal-cutting!

We need to set examples of those who ruined this country so that young folks coming up will realize that such crimes against ones country is TREASONOUS!
GMB was right, what was looted is enough to pay every unemployed graduate ....and Widows, a small monthly "living allowance".

Is time to really know who wears pampers between buhari and fayose. When baba said he will soon write another apology letter, he thought it was a joke because Jonathan was in control now he is on his own. No witch hunting but certainly 16 cant be greater than 19 under buhari's watch when he doesn't drink ogogoro like the other man, and i also know that the issue of ekiti gate will not go under the carpet like farouk otedola, oduah etc cases.
There is a fine Captain of the Nigerian Army, Captain Sagir, who was the Whistle-blower on Ekitigate and his Army career is currently in limbo because he saved the nation from Thugs like Fayose.

It will be a travesty of justice is that Soldier is suffering while Fayose is enjoying the pecks of office.
Fayose MUST go.... and Capt. Sagir must be re-instated on given full honors military discharge and posted to the DSS, SSS, NDLEA, POILICE or other para-military formations, if he cant work in the Army due to "official" positions in military dictum.

trust me fayose, if you really worked hand in hand with koro, jonathan and others to rig the ekiti election in your favour, then you must be impeached when the evidence is brought before the high court. Nonsense. Two months ago you were acting like a god over your people, but now that jonathan is going, you wanna act all innocent. SMH

Modified*

Infact fayose must be impeached, legally or illegally. There shouldn't be any room for PDP in the entire odualand angry
*Fayose is a CANCER, irrespective of which party he represents.
*Fayose subverted Democracy and must go!
*Fayose used just 4 lawmakers to impeach the Ekiti Speaker so, only just 4 Lawmakers is needed to also impeach him.... what is good for the geese should be good enough for the Gander.
*HAd it been truly that it was majority of the Ekiti people that elected you (and not that #EkitiGate Rigging), then what he is saying would have made some sense
.

Fayose is a disgrace to the people of Ekiti and an insult to their intelligence.

Lastly, Fayose should calm down, his day is very much around the corner.

I wonder if the locals would have been so quick to make off with the livestock if it were Fulani cattle herders - the notoriously violent ones to be specific. They often travel with firearms (illegally acquired) and they are definitely not a soft target.

For those in the insurance industry - is there any kind of insurance cover for merchandise in transit on Nigerian roads, and what are the subscription rates? Do these traders take out such policies?
The location of the battery of that your VolvoS60 is a nightmare! I hate Volvo! sad

Back to Goat things:
There was this incident somewhere in the "East" when those Fulani used to graze their cattle on people's farm and cause complete crop destruction.
So, Villagers acme up with a plan to dig big trenches on their farm and when the Cattle came calling, they fell into the trnch and could not get out.... neither could Musa-the-Cattle rearer carry it out.

When he finally gave up and left, villagers descended on the Cattle and yo know what happened..... They took their own "pound of flesh" ! grin grin grin

It kept repeating itself on till one day when the fulani decided that if they must loose the Cattle, they wont allow Villagers to eat it.
So, anytime such happens, they pour a very strong dose of POISON on such cattle and left it to die.

Brothers, come and see how a whole village almost got wiped out when they descended on the poisoned cattle and ate-away with the usual reckless abandon.

Our able "cattle-rearer" from Daura, our one and only #SaiBaaba, knowing the problem first-hand, should please speed-up measures to enact laws which prevent the cattles from damaging people's crops.....so as to prevent further clashes between farmers and Fulani cattle rearers.
Particularly, the practice of -graze-roaming cattles should be discouraged, we are no longer on the 16th century and grazing land is not that available like before.
Properly managed grazing range can be set-up in exclusive areas for them, if the practice is difficult to stop......and properly enforced.

Lastpage!

BTW: Vote APC/Omo Baaba (Ambode) for Governor, Lagos State cannot afford another 4yrs of being an opposition state.... we need #SaiBaaba to build and complete that 4th Mainland bridge. We also need assistance on the Mono Rail!

I am a GEJ fan but as far as this elections is concerned Buhari's victory was a better option for the Country but I cannot support an arrogant idiot cow like Amaechi.
Why do you spew so much idiocy like this?
So Igbos can support whoever they like but it is a crime for Amaechi to support who he likes? huh

GEJ has conceded defeat and he has no choice than to handover.
Whether he does or not, he is already a "gonner"..... and Buhari is the President-elect. Period!
Handover is jusy a "formality".

If the killing sin Rivers extend ad far as May 28, Buhari has all the authority to declare a state of Emergency ....and that wont be funny fo people of Rivers, including Mama Piss and Wike because Buhari will just assign a military Administrator for Rivers State.
That is bye-bye Governorship for Wike, even if he wins the election! grin

Lastpage my man, thanks for your time. I wish we will meet someday. I am also glad to know that whatever most of the people say here, ends here. That being so, don't you think that it is hypocritical to assume that what the Igbos said about the Yorubas and Hausas on NL, is the true reflection of the totality of the SE? Why shouldn't it end here as well? Why castigate a whole tribe because of the actions of some on Nairaland? How many igbos are on NL?

I don't care whether the haters are igbos, Yorubas, Hausas, ibibios or Tivs, the bottom line is that I personally, am tired of tribal comments and sentiments. I really hope most of the thrash I read here, ends here and are not the way we truly feel about one another.
Please, dont let it get to you.........
I use N/Land as a means of unwinding and that s why, if you go through my posts, you will see some that are in the jokes section and some in Religion while some are in Romance! grin
I would not want anyone to take comments on N/L very serious for one, we are all faceless to ourselves!.
The Cow insulting me up there might have sold handkerchief to me in slow-traffic yet he did not abuse me and wouldn't dare but on NL. everything goes! grin
Again, we can generalize! Stereotyping a whole nation, whether Yoruba or Igbo or Hausa, has NEVER worked simply because in every tribe, there are wonderful people, people who are sure better than you, who is making the generalization.

Having said that, there could be "predominant Character traits" which can be extrapolated to the point of "assuming" it is widespread enough to represent a group of people..... but even at that, there are still samples that wont fit that generalisation.

Bottom-line: Take anything you read on N/L, with a pinch of salt and please, develop a thick skin for "abuse", if you want to delve into N/land.
there are cases where someone would not even read what you wrote and will go ahead to heap the worst invectives on you ... like you are his bad neighbor living next door! grin

I have very wonderful Igbo friends who have "individually" earned my trust. Those ones l can trust with my life, irrespective of what some Igbo clown says on N/L. They in-turn, understand our differences, our strength and weaknesses. We have all come to terms with our past and we do not let it hold us down or prevent us from forging a good and rewarding relationship, going forward.

Most of the ranters on N/L are actually have "personal issues" in their private life and do "vent" on innocent people they dont even know, on N/land! shocked shocked

My assumption (in real life) is that every human being is good, irrespective of their religion, language, tribe, sex or belief and would be treated thus....until such person can prove otherwise.

I know Buhari will fight corruption and l can vouch for his independence of mind to the point that he would never witch-hunt anyone.
Yorubas complaining here actually do not want him to witch-hunt Igbos, they are just annoyed that it an Igbo (generalization) who did not vote for Buhari, is the first to start putting him under pressure or making undue demands of him.
I think that is the point everyone is trying to put across. But dont let it bother you.

I am not pained in anyway. That's why I also gave you this like. grin. What I hate is double standard. Hypocrisy. Unfortunately, a lot of people still think that the SE didn't vote for Buhari because of the civil war. Well, I don't know why everyone voted the way they did.

I only tried to point out what I see as double standard in most of the posts and comments. In the past, the SE always split their votes. They never bought into this block vote stuff. The truth is that before the emergence of pdp, there was never any party in the history of Nigeria that was so nationally embraced.

Do you by any means mean that the SE was wrong to have voted for Jonathan en mass in 2015 but were right in 2011, 2007, 2003 and 1999?

The SW stood by AD and whatever othe party it transformed into, until finally APC arrived. Did anyone call them tribalistic?
If pdp hadn't chosen Obasanjo, just to balance the injustice that was done to MKO, wouldn't the SW have come out empty in 1999-2007? The SW did not contribute anything to the emergence of Onasanjo. Yet they claim all the glory.

Today, there's no doubt that the SW played the most important role in the emergence of Buhari, but does that now make the SE poor strategists and enemies of the Nigerian State?

Enough of all these derogatory posts and comments. There's nothing wrong is backing jonathan. The north supported GMB in 03,07 and 2011 and he lost. No one singled the North out for criticism. No one should single the SE and SS out either. Everybody voted for different reasons but whether we like it or not, those reasons are basically the same across every region, tribe or religion.
Dont take everything you read here, personally.
I for one, "erase" these comments from my memory, once l shut my browser.
I used the word "pained", not in the derogatory sense but like a sort of "wish it were not so".

Now, at times, we write comments that hurt others... and some people dont forget it that easily, like others.

I was doing a review of comments "Before and After" the election and l can tell you, if we are to be honest, the Igbos not only stuck out their neck for Jonathan (which is normal, that is politics and its their right), but they also went a little bit far in the "personal attacks" on other tribes. They made it "too obvious" that the only reason they would not vote Buhari is that he is a Northerner!. They also insulted his religion, his Education and when they saw that the Yorubas were not going to abandon Buhari, they started attacking the Yorubas as well, calling them name like Slaves! Even on this thread, l am sure you would have seen it more than ten times. grin grin

"Action and reaction, tend to be equal and opposite" so l will add that the other tribes also responded "in like manner".

I suspect that now that we have a Victor and a Vanquished, the Yorubas are trying to get under their skin in retaliation but this is still normal and Politics (though not desirable) if not that the Igbos seems to be "brazenly" making a U-turn and trying to assume some form of "glory and vanquishing" (if you read posts like Igbos won and Yoruba lost,... GEJ achieved what OBJ could not achieve", e.t.c)

Okay, personally, l see "some" of these things with some sense of humor and skin-deep. Others dont.

Let me suggest as somebody pointed out: The animosity is not that deep!
As a Yoruba, l can swear that l dont judge Igbos (in the real world) based on the nonsense we exchange online. That would be unfair...
We are like siblings of the same father, ... we fight and make-up ...but we can never be sworn enemies.
If some Igbos can marry Yorubas.........and vice versa, producing offsprings that l will call "YoGboba" grin grin ...where then is the hatred?

More importantly, l will "humbly" suggest that Igbos should let by-gones be by-gones as it relate to the Civil War.
It is not an act of cowardice but there is a lot of bravery in saying "I forgive and forget"

Without that, they can never find peace in this country called Nigeria.
Biafra may not come as quickly as envisaged, it may never come, but for the time being, why cant we commit to what we have at hand - Nigeria?
How do you think other Nigerians feel when Igbis keep harping about breaking away..... instead on harping on "fairplay and justice, equity and respect"?
Mistakes were made by both sides which resulted into war.
But to still hang-on to those memories (l blame "Papa" for this) and reflect it in thoughts and deeds...after fifty years?
Its not positive and forward-thinking.

Do you know that your attitude to me (even online) has affected my disposition towards you? That is a fact of life.
What is inside you, affects the aura surrounding you.
I know its easier said than done but we ALL need to make effort to say "hey, lets wipe the slate clean and let us deal with ourselves based on face-value".

Its a job for the new generation.
But let fellas relax, Buhari wont marginalise Igbos or anyone. That would be unjust and you cant repay evil with evil...

BTW: Did you realize that myself and probably 85% of Yorubas of the S/West voted for Jonathan in 2011, just as we were ready to "war" with the North if they dont allow him to take over, after the demise of Yar Ardua? Do you still think we could not have sided with the Northern cabal back them..... if we are not always on the side of justice and equity?
Think about it for a moment.

It will be well, after all the brouhaha.
Cheers.

In a Biafran Country, these same "problems of Nigeria" will still rear its ugly head.

Instead of S/W Vs. East or East Vs.North or Igbo Vs. Yoruba or Vs. Hausa, what you will now have is say Anioma Vs Mbaise or Ijaw Vs. Irhobo! grin grin

What we need are
1.)Equity and Justice amongst the Nations

2.) Strong Leadership

3.) Zero tolerance for Corruption

4.) Rapid industrialization, starting with Power, followed by Steel

5.) Last but not the least... Mutual respect between the Nations. No nation should arrogate anything to itself by mere arrogance

Atimes, I read nairalanders post and I shake my head in dismay, seeing shallowness in human thoughts and reasoning

We all should see the beaty of what just happened. GEJ's action should enlighten us cos what it means is that he has giving the Nigerian People a voice. That voice is power and thus he has handed us the power to manage our government and not the other way around.

We should learn that in Nigeria, too much investiture of power to one political party is unhealthy for our democracy. It undermines our powers as citizens. And as such, we need to groom either the present strong opposition inpreparation for the annomallies of current government in power. A good instance is the APC to checkmate the PDP whenever they mess up. The question now is who checkmates the APC when the mess up? Every present government needs competition and as each government's party afilliation compete to perform and deliver on their manifestos, the real beneficaries are the citizens. That is the power of our voice wielded by us over the government of our choice

For a strategic state like lagos, we have the opportunity to balance the power. Especially the one at the center. Let's take a cue again from the our latest success as a country. Southwest, especially Lagos is so key to our political growth. APC from lagos is what was projected to what they are today. So it is right to say that Lagos is key to any political growth. Even the power at the center can't afford to joke with a State like lagos. Largely because, it gives vulnerability to the current dispensation.

Why am I saying all these? As we progress in to the second phase of our electoral process, we shouldn't just consider our individual interest as our current president has just shown us but to put our state and our country first. We must protect our voice, our democracy and the only way is to create competition. In our various states, when choosing governors, it is not about who we like, its bout balancing power and driving performance with our voice which is our vote. So, its bout what can you deliver to challenge the party at the center or what the party center can deliver to challenge what the party at state wants to deliver.

For this reason, I won't want to concede Lagos to APC, but would prefer PDP at the mantle of leadership. The reasons are clear: which is to strengthen our democracy by creating competition and to balance power.

PDP are ready to address their issues. They are willing to work on the deficiencies. They are ready to perform better and to win the confidence lost in the people and what better way to show this than to deliver on their promises of a better lagos. This return challenges the Party at the center to also deliver cos they will see that should they behave funny and fail on their promises, they again may be overtaken. So they can't afford any loopholes. Who are the real beneficiaries, the CITIZENS of our beloved country. It is time to hold our governments by the balls and hold them accountable on their words.

For this, in Lagos, I implore we allow the PDP take charge. Their Statesmanship is the reason we need to. If they can show statesmanship at federal level, it means there is hope of better performance if given an opportunity to serve again. They know its business unusual and can't joke with the people anymore and its proven by their defeat at the federal level so they just have to deliver.

We have everything to gain I believe. The citizen's voice will be golden and we can keep substituting to enjoy the dividend of democracy.

If not for anything but to create competition for performance, vote PDP in lagos and yes, we will experience true change like never before. Our lives will be better for it.

Look at it this way, if APC hard to perform so hard in lagos to gain popularity to reach the center, PDP will work twice harder to regain the peoples confidence again as they find their way back to the center.

Thank you
No way!
Let them prove everything you wrote up there, in the STATES they won first!
Then, they can be allowed to come replicate it elsewhere.
For now, their REPUTATION in the last 16years, is what we can use to judge them......... and that is FAILURE!.

You mean you actually want to use lagos as a "scape-goat"...... as an opposition party-state, for another 4years, just coming out of it for the last 16yrs?

Abegii, this your "strategy" no dey work. We cant be fooled again.

Ambode all the way!

So no hope for minority to rule this country abi? let them Grant us Biafra Nation so that with our number, we can produce our own President..
There is, Jonathan was a minority.
What l think needs to happen is for minorities to "align" with themselves as a block vote and support the best candidate with a proviso that "it will be our turn in so-so years".
I think that agreement can be respected...though GEJ did not respect it.

Democracy is good but unfortunately, it is about the "numbers' such that the majority tend to dominate the minority.
Also, we can enshrine an "affirmative action" in the constitution which says that "A minority tribe must produce the President say every 12years".
The only cache will be that the Minority must produce "THE BEST" they have..... not some mediocre person.

Every tribe has brilliant folks amongst them. I dont even think Jonathan is anything near the best that the S/S can put forward. I will rather an Amaechi than a Jonathan, be president.

Also, with the "eventual" perfection of the Electronic voting system, the ensuring that each Vote counts, l think masses will get to a stage where they will decide they want to vote for a PERSON (say Rochas or Amaechi) irrespective of where he comes from or the party he represents.
Religion and Tribe are what is being used to cause the problems and prevent everyone from thinking straight, right now.

We will get there.

Eluwilussit:
When have they been treated fairly? Those guys have earned every kobo they have. They have never depended on FG handouts. So they earned the right to vote for any party of their choice.

I hate all these hypocritical posts and comments. Didn't they vote for Shagari en mass and what did they get? Didn't they vote for Obasanjo in 99 and what did they get? Did they not vote for Yar 'Adua, what did they gain? They voted for Jonathan in 2011, what did they get? Now that they didn't vote for Buhari, what will they get?

The answer to all of the above is a resounding 'NOTHING'. It is surprising that when the SW voted for AD and AD lost, they were not criticized. The SS, SE and North were the ones who voted for Obasanjo. Did they get any credit for that?

For the first time, the SE voted in an election that the presidential candidate lost, they have suddenly become bad political strategists. They have become haters of the north and SW. In the past, wasn't the SE known for splitting it's vote across many parties? They were mocked for that too. Since 1999, they have embraced pdp and vote accordingly, yet they are still criticized.

Didn't the north and SW vote overwhelmingly for their own? Why the double standard? Even northern pdp members sabotaged their party because of religion and ethnicity. No region or ethnic group should be singled out for contempt. It is so unfair.

Buhari has won. He's the president of nigeria and not that of APC or SW and North. We will all support his effort, from North to South and from East to West. It is that simple. Why make it complicated?
I am one of the two that clicked "like" on your comment..........l guess GeneralShepard is the second! wink
I so much appreciate the comment because it comes from a heart that is:
1.) Annoyed
2.) Flabagasted
3.)Worried
4.) frustrated & Searching for answers
5.) Wants a change from the status-quo
6.)Seems ready to embrace "change", to move forward.

I will like to engage you on the issues you raised.

Lastpage!

I would have loved to discuss in detail but l am "engaged" seriously at the moment so, l will make short comments.
It seems you are saying "either way", Igbos dont seem to be accepted, which ever way they vote.

Seems so, really.

IMO, l think "voting in-block" is a good thing.
The question and the very important decision is:Who or which party you GIVE these BLOCK VOTES TO?
I think that is where Igbos usually make mistake.....wrong choice of candidate.
Also, some igbos always try to play the "spoiler" in every election, after colelcting MONEY....and the general Igbos follow such ignoble decision, with the result that others dont take Igbo serious.
read: Youth Democratic party, Authur Nzeribe, Kanu (Youth Earnestly Ask for Abacha), e.t.c

Suggestion: If Igbos can sit down and decide who gets their block votes, without the bias of religion, tribal hatred and reference to the Biafran war, believe me, they would make a good choice, a balance choice..... and reap the rewards.
BTW: Such decision is a "dynamics" and changes or may change from each election-cycle to another.

The above is my honest, respectful and dispassionate opinion, l stand corrected.

I still maintain my stand that the Igbos are being marginalized..
What stops the APC from appointing an Igbo man as their Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate?
What stops them?
ANSWER: Democracy is a "game of numbers" ..........and IGBOS dont have the numbers!

WHY: They dont register in numbers, those that do, dont collect their PVC and those that have PVC are too busy selling their tribal agenda such that ANY Party that chose them as VP will likely suffer a hemorrhage at the polls.
For the average IGBO, its all about money/selling, all the time. Not bad but....e get limit.

What you should be more concerned about is "the CAUSE" of the so-called marginalisation.
I'll give you an example:
When the other parties in Lagos Guber elections "saw the hand-writing on the wall", what did they do?
They quickly CHANGE tactics and aligned with APC, knowing that if they dont, their effort at election will still be futile.... but in doing so, they are poised to "REAP" in the windfall of an APC/Ambode win, in the future.

If left to the "Igbo-mentality", they will, out of tribal hatred, still fight doggedly on, even though it is obviously futile! ...with the attendant loss in patronage that comes with such attitude

Trust me, Igbos will still vote for PDP-Jimi Agabaje in the next election even though it is a foolish political calculation.
That is how they "rationalize".... just to justify their hate for Yorubas/APC/Tinubu! grin grin grin

But when the winner is announced, you will (wont) be shocked to hear them either complaining of marginalisation ... or claiming and "boasting" they have a "right" to be accommodated/patronised! shocked grin
WTF? sad

"ATTITUDE" really needs to change and this rabid hatred of others is not paying-off, rather its a curse!
