what you know as the Nnewi house is the apapa towers, it used to be known as Apapa towers until the 90's when they revert to Nnewi house, you see the issue of Ojukwu's property is not one that I wish not to discuss because collectively the family have accepted the outcome I only revisited it here because one or two person made the claims that Igbo properties in SW where given back to Igbo's, which is not totally correct.

As for me being the ignorant one here that is really funny, you guys have manage to derail this thread and I have been trying to stay on topic so i do not intend discussing anything other than the topic, so far, I have done justice to it since, however trolls bitter by the revelation have been foaming in the mouth and I had to address their lie, but now I have kids all over the place trying to sound intelligent I really don't have the time for kids.

At least not tonight.
Guy, a grown man like you should not lie. undecided Nnewi House was never known as Apapa Towers. A few people call it Nnewi Building. But when the late Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu built it, he clearly wrote Nnewi House in stone on the front of the building. So who was the person who called it Apapa Towers? You? shocked

Oya, I am still waiting for you to give me the address of your so-called Elephant Building which you claim was listed among Ojukwu's properties, as well as the Ikoyi Towers, you spoke about. Am waiting! wink

So you are ignorant to facts and reality and you are forming I too know here, I am done with you, I even thought you were older and smarter than that totits of a fool. And to think you don't even know the difference between elephant towers and elephant building yet you ignorantly claim that all Ojukwu's property was given back to him when you have no slightest idea what properties he had. Then you go the Afonja media as your source of information you case is a lost one you are simply irredeemable, you should just die already. ITK.
Guy, I have given you facts and details. sad Provide your own facts and lets us see. Give me the addresses of each of those buildings, and I will trace the history for you. Everyone can see that you are the ignorant one here! angry

My former boss was a lawyer & expert on land matters and many of these cases ended up in his chambers. Where exactly is this your Elephant Building located in Lagos? Is it in Iikoyi, Victoria Island, Apapa, Ikeja or where? shocked And this is not a case of Afonja media. When Ojukwu was fighting to regain his father's properties, all the newspapers carried it at that time from Guardian to Vanguard to ThisDay. Are those papers owned by Afonjas? huh

You mentioned Apapa Towers, in your previous post. There is nothing like Apapa Towers in the list of Ojukwu's properties. There is Nnewi House which is a tall storey building located on Creek Road/Wharf Road Apapa that belonged to the late Ojukwu's father. It is still there till today. sad

See the list of Ojukwu's properties again:
These property which were at a time compulsorily acquired by the Federal Government were later released to OTL and the late Dim Ojukwu continued to manage some of them until his demise last year. The property include those situated at 58, Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta, Yaba, Lagos; 29, Queens Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos where Ojukwu once resided, 41 Macpherson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos, 13 Hawksworth Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, 14 Probyn Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, 2A and 2B Park Close, Apapa, Lagos, 32A Commercial Avenue, Yaba, Lagos, Nnewi Building, 1/3 Creek Close, Apapa, Lagos, 120 Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos, 4A and 4B Park Close, Apapa, Lagos, 196 Igbosere Road, Lagos, 15 Oshodi Street, Lagos and 15/16 Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt.

Guy where is Elephant building? Apapa Towers? Ikoyi tower and his other office towers scattered across choice areas in Lagos in the 60's The Ojukwu's only got a few residential building and not all they did not even get "Ojukwu's court", Ojukwu's fathers personal private residence, so Mr stop saying what you don't know to feel alright.

Go to Surulere, Ojuelegba, yaba, lawanson, road and see afonjas still living in Igbo houses today, in Ojuelegba just before under bridge there is a twin 2 story building No 31A/31B for both twin towers built by the same Igbo man after the war the houses were occupied the man sha did wahala got one and just last year got the other from the Afonja thief that have been living there for close to 50 years now the Afonja is homeless and begging to be given a flat they are many like that many Igbo's lost their property till date to Afonjas but you folk keep denying your thievery.
Bros, you can lie o!! shocked Are you saying Ojukwu owned Elephant House (it is not called Elephant Building, o!) on Lagos Island? How? shocked It is an 18 storey building comprising over 10,000 square meters of lettable office space, with unrivalled views across the Marina waterfront, and Broad street with internal parking located in the heart of the Lagos Central Business District (Marina). sad That building is owned by the family of late Chief Samuel Olatunbosun Shonibare who was one of the big shots of the old Action Group (AG) in the '60s. After he died, his wife, the late Chief (Mrs) Alice Olaperi Shonibare took it over, as well as the rest of the family. The funds for building it were sourced by their daughter Mrs. Taiwo. Chai! Who told you that Ojukwu owned this edifice, biko nu? shocked

And which one is Apapa Towers? Where is it located? huh And Ikoyi Towers on Awolowo Road Ikoyi was never owned by Ojukwu. It was said to be owned by the late Deinde Fernandez. Please do your research. undecided

After Chief Samuel Shonibare died very prematurely at 44 in 1964, his wife, Chief Mrs. Alice Olaperi Shonibare took over the business and helped not just to keep his dream alive, she continued to dream new ones. She redeveloped Shonibare estate. In fact, it was never called Shonibare Estate, people called it by that name in memory of our first Chairman.

So, after he died, his wife who was an incredible, self-effacing and very smart woman took over. They had been formidable partners. She, it was, who created the Maryland Hotel, a 50 room hotel which became a huge success with a restaurant and dance club. She paid back the loan to Barclays Bank in 1969, acquired the interest to Elephant house from the Pearse Family.

Now Elephant House is widely recognized as one of the most interesting examples of Brazillian architecture in Nigeria. It stood magnificent on the Broad Street but one of the conditions attached to her acquiring this building was that any building that had to be built there must be called Elephant House. So this was the original Elephant House, a holistical monument which people like John Godwin have fought very hard to have listed.

It took ten years to get the permission to build Elephant House because, in those days, the Lagos state government was very strict about the condition under which you could build a high rise. You had to have 50 feet setback at the front, 50 feet at the side. You had to do a survey of the impact of the construction on the environment. You had to submit what you now call, an Environmental impact analysis.

And because the size of the land around Elephant House was modest she had to acquire 3 more plots to make up 2,502.52 square meters of what is now the present Elephant house. So, it took her 10 years to get the approval and she always contended that that was the hardest part of the process and once she got the approval, she handed it over to her daughter, Taiwo Taiwo, to raise the funds for the project. Taiwo Taiwo was just 29 but it didn’t matter to her mother.

She said; “Listen, I have done the hard job; you go and raise the money. Your father was very young when he put together western house so you go ahead.” http://www.sipc-ng.com/vision/alice.html
Look, I do not know what stories you heard, but Ojukwu got every single one of his father's properties back in Lagos. sad He made a joint application to cover all the properties together and filed it in court. So why would the court give him some of the properties and not the others? i do not have info., on his properties in Port-harcourt but here is a list of the ones in Lagos that he got back. undecided

With heavy investment in transportation (Ojukwu Transport Limited) and Real Estate, the man was able to buy choice properties in Lagos and the East.

Some of the properties include: Villaska Lodge, the Lagos home of his late son, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, at No 29, Oyinkan Abayomi Street (formally Queen’s Drive), Ikoyi. This building tested Dim Ojukwu’s fighting spirit because he went through several court battles with the Lagos State Government to reclaim ownership after he came back from exile in 1985. The building which used to be some sort of Mecca for Igbo leaders is presently not occupied by anyone, only security guards and cleaners are seen around. The lawn is still lush green as domestic servants tenders the flowers and clean the surroundings. Other buildings in Ikoyi are situated at 41 Macpherson Avenue, 13 Hawksworth Road, and 14 Probyn Road, Ikoyi.

Another building situated at 58, Ibadan Street, Ebute Meta, Yaba, Lagos is presently rented to an investment company and valued at over N300 million. Other prime properties are situated at 2A and 2B Park Close, Apapa, 32A Commercial Avenue, Yaba, Nnewi Building at 1/3 Creek Close, Apapa, 120 Agege Motor Road, Mushin, 4A and 4B Park Close, Apapa, 196 Igbosere Road, Lagos and 15/16 Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt. http://www.castles.com.ng/magazine/article/AGENCY%20PRACTICE%20/1216

Why don't you list the names of the Igbo that lost properties in Lagos after the war? As far as I know, only Ojukwu's properties in Lagos were seized by the federal govt, as punishment for his role in the war. sad

Thanks so much for this comment. It annoys me when I see some Yorubas accepting the lies and propaganda that Igbos own substantial investments in Yorubaland. There is nothing significant Igbos contribute to Yorubaland that other tribes do not contribute. They claim they have businesses, when you ask them what the businesses are, they tell you spare parts business in Ladipo or electronics shops in Alaba. But for every one naira an average Igbo man makes from those businesses, an average hausa business man makes 10 naira from bureau de change but you don't hear them make obnoxious noise that they own Lagos. They claim they have houses in Lagos but all other tribes in Nigeria have houses even foreigners have houses in Lagos. Like you rightly said, those bastard unity beggers are the one selling Yorubas cheap by making these ingrates feel important. I cant wait for the day they take all their belongings and mischievous acts out of Yorubaland. Enough of this hospitality to people that are ungrateful.
This is deep!! shocked But my Yoruba friends have said that, if they don't respond to the assertions of the IPOB crew about how 'they developed Lagos,' or how 'their ethnic group are the ones who own most of the properties in Lagos,' then other folks reading their claims would think it is the truth. So that is why they always take them to task whenever they make such statements. Their words, not mine though... undecided

Oh, you don't believe that Ojukwu got his late father's properties back? shocked What planet were you living on when Bianca, the widow of the late Ojukwu took his family to court over those properties in Lagos? shocked Would she have been able to do so, if Ojukwu had not gotten those properties back. Oya, make I educate you small:

Bianca Ojukwu, the embattled widow of the late Biafran warlord, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has asked a Lagos State High Court, sitting at Igbosere to reject an application filed by her husband’s second child Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Jr, seeking to be joined as defendant alongside Ojukwu Transport Limited (OTL) and seven others in the suit she filed against the family over property.

The former beauty queen had on behalf of her two under-aged children, Afamefuna and Nwachukwu (claimants) sued Ojukwu Transport Limited, OTL and seven others; Prof. Joseph Ojukwu, Emmanuel Ojukwu, Lotanna Putalora Ojukwu, Dr. Patrick Ojukwu, Edward Ojukwu, Lota Akajiora Ojukwu and Mrs. Massey Udegbe (doing business under Massey Udegbe & Company) before the court over an alleged move by the Ojukwu family to eject her sons from the company’s properties situated in Lagos. The company, OTL, and its property belong to the grandfather of the claimants, late Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu.

In their statement of claim, Bianca, and her two children prayed the court to declare that the alleged threat of forcible ejection from 29, Oyinkan Abayomi Street, Ikoyi, by the defendants as illegal.

They are asking the court for a declaration that her children are entitled to possess the following property: No. 13 Hawksworth Road, Ikoyi (now known as No. 13 Ojora Road; No. 32A Commercial Avenue, Yaba, Lagos; No. 30 Gerard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos and No. 30 McPherson Avenue, Ikoyi.

According to them, the properties were under the possession of the late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, the father of the claimants, from the time the properties were released from government acquisition till date.

The claimants stated that throughout the period their father was fought to retrieve the properties from the government, the second to seventh defendants “never played any role in the struggle nor contributed financially or otherwise to the realization of the struggle.”

I am glad you are privy to this information, please educate that totti guy a little he sounds very young naive and uninformed, however i have to correct errors that you made the flyover was not built be the federal govt the FG at the time ask the traders to build it alongside the Master plan of the market and stated that they would be refunded but the marketers are yet to get the refund they assumed the FG used it to alternate for Land charge. Secondly the Old structures still stand firm and very distinct from the New trade fair complex so that is not in dispute.

However i am glad this report came from you, as these kids just littered this thread with senseless back and forth over the issue.
Oga, Totit is far better informed than you are. cheesy You were the one claiming that all the structures at the old Trade Fair complex was built by Igbo traders, including the flyover. I educated you that the fed govt built the flyover, as well as a lot of structures at the Old Trade Fair Complex. They are separate from the ones the Igbo traders built. The traders only built additional shops. undecided

is the Lagos state government and federal goverment not still using Ojukwus fathers property in Lagos till this day? stop the lie.

So what are you talking about?? shocked Isn't it those properties that Ojukwu's family is dragging with Bianca his wife, till today?

As for our investment and saying countries do not tolerate petty trading in their countries, that will not affect Igbo's in Nigeria rather it will define Igbo's investment in Nigeria by properly stating our worth, values, tax, and our IGR contribution, already Igbo's markets in Lagos are worth well over 500,000.00 USD I am not even talking about the goods, I am talking about the value of property and markets built by Igbo's in Nigeria, markets like Alaba international, ASPANDA (Trade Fair) Oduade (Building materials markets) these markets were solely built by Igbo investors and would beat and mark or investment capital put by the government, take a market like ASPANDA for example it comes with it's own flyover to prevent traffic gridlocks for customers coming to the market, has several police post, Banks, fire station, eatries, a field, etc. Also take Alaba for example it is one of the largest electronic market in west Africa, same for Oduade, these markets have all beat the investment benchmark, The only Igbo market that would be affected would be the Ladipo Auto Market but as we all know the have requested to be given a site to build their own market, so they are equally up to the task..
Point of correction. undecided That flyover leading to the old international Trade Fair Complex was built by the Federal Govt. It is not all the structures there, that were solely built by Igbo traders, like you claim. Don't forget that the site where the ASPAMDA international market is now located, used to be part of the old international Trade Fair site. There were already several large halls & buildings existing there which were built by the federal govt, before the traders were allocated the place. Many of the traders who moved to the Trade Fair Complex used to be at Enu-Owa and Idumota on Lagos Island, before they were relocated to that site along the Orile-Badagry expressway. sad

I am currently being made to beg for my land even after making full payments. If you buy land from Omo Onile no matter the situation you will get your land immediately even start building on it without all the issues.
As if that is not enough Adron is asking for the following ridiculous items before I can get my land
1. Builders profile
2. Certificate of incorporation of the building contractor
3. COREN certificate
4. CORBORN certificate
The government should quickly look into the activities of this estate companies, they are just ripping us off all in the name of selling lands
The true cost of the land is not the advertised amount you will shocked to know that the true cost of the land is almost four times the advertised cost. Omo Onile is better by far.

soulpeppersoup:
So what stops Biafra from joining ECOWAS and what will take a Biafran to Nigeria in the first place if not tourism
So what stops Biafra from joining ECOWAS? huh If the other member countries of ECOWAS refuse to recognise Biafra, and Nigeria is able to muster support within that group to prevent Biafra's admission. Getting membership of ECOWAS, is not automatic. Secondly, article 4 of the ECOWAS Protocol on Free Movement still allows member states to deny citizens from other countries within the region, entry into their borders, if they believe such potential entrants could constitute a security risk, a threat etc. The average Biafran is unlikely to visit Nigeria for tourism, they would want to visit Nigeria for trade & commercial purposes.

GoroTango:
The ECOWAS treaty states that no new member states can be admitted to the community except by the unanimous agreement of all current member states. From everything I have read on this thread, especially the statements credited to Paul Unongo & Yakassai, it is obvious that the 'juju the Yoruba people cooked for the Igbo, was done before the war and it is still going strong. shocked A lot of people from minority groups like mine, have often wondered what could have been responsible for the obsession the SE chaps, have for those in the SW. Now we know the reason. undecided

I mean, if not for this 'juju how can a man (Awo) say that his own people will pull out of the federation, if your own people in the SE are allowed to secede, and on the basis of that, you (Ojukwu) decided to go to war? huh Did he promise you ammunition, fighter jets, funding, soldiers, bombs, resources and other equipment to fight the war? shocked Na simple question, I dey ask, o! huh

How can that same man (Awo) still go back to talk to you (Ojukwu) to jettison the idea of secession, only for you to ignore his latter advice, and still go to war, believing that his people will follow you to pull out of Nigeria? sad Did he (Awo) hypnotise you (Ojukwu)?

And then 50 years later, your people are still blaming him (Awo) and his own people, for not joining you in the secession? Is that not heavy-duty 'jazz at work? Make una check am, nah! shocked

On the night of 15th January, 1966, Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari had hosted a party in his residence in Ikoyi.

Later in the early hours of the following morning some of the very officers who had warmly fraternized with others at the party that same evening returned to his house and attacked the Brigadier under guise of staging a coup d’état.

He was able to escape the initial attackers and exited through the backyard of the residence, only to fall into the hands of his own Brigade Major who it turned out was a part of the coupists. They shot him to death. http://saharareporters.com/2014/05/21/who-was-brigadier-zakariya-maimalari
Maimalari had managed to escape from the first attempt to arrest him by Major Don Okafor, but as he was escaping on foot, he came across the car of his Brigade Major: Emmanuel Ifeajuna. Recognising Ifeajuna, Maimalari waved down the car, and was promptly shot dead by Ifeajuna. Maimalari's murder was a great loss to the northern soldiers who respected him, and to Nigeria as a whole. http://www.nigerialinks.com/Articles/Siollun.html

Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that Nigerians must do everything possible to stop the Biafra agitation led by Nnamdi Kanu.

He warned that failure to do so could lead to a replay of the 1966 coup and the events that led to unprecedented bloodshed in the country.

Obasanjo made this known during the launch of the biography of late Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari on Tuesday at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

According to him, the top most lessons for Nigerians to learn from unfolding events in the country are that the nation has had enough of tragedies.

He said: “What lesson can we learn? The lesson we can learn is that we have had enough tragedies in this country.

“So far, since 1999, it seems that we have got it right. Let us hope that we continue to get it right and learn that Nigeria has had enough of bloodshed, enough of sacrifices by those victims, that Nigeria deserves peace, unity and progress,” Obasanjo asserted.

Eeyah! cry Why was OBJ the one who was asked to launch the biography of the late Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari? sad That gallant officer's death during the 1966 coup, was so tragic, as he was killed by one of the officers closest to him.

Remembering Brigadier Zakaria Maimalari| By Hassan M. Hussein

Brigadier Zakaria Maimalari at the time of January 15th 1966 coup was the commander of 2nd Brigade in Lagos and the highest ranking Nigerian military officer of Northern origin. He was callously and cold-bloodedly assassinated by Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna one of the leaders and executioners of that coup. It was a coup that shaped Nigeria’s political destiny like no other.

On the night of Jan 14th 1966 many senior army officers were attending a party in the honor of Brigadier Zakaria Maimalari who had remarried, his first wife had been shot dead in a bizarre accident involving a hunting rifle. The party was attended by the coup plotters themselves and most senior officers based in Lagos. In the January 15th coup that overthrew the civilian Government, Northern political ( Sir Ahmadu Bello , Sir Abubakar Balewa, Ahmed Ben Musa.) and military leaders (Maimalari, Pam, Kur, and Largema) were murdered by Igbo officers. That means all military officers but one (Gowon), of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and above of Northern origin, were eliminated.

Zakaria Abubakar Hassan Maimalari was born on 17th January, 1930 in Maimalari village of the present day Yobe state. He was an alumnus of famous Barewa College Zaria. Zakaria Maimalari and Umar Lawal, along with the late king of Morocco and a Ghanaian Charles Bua were the first Africans to ever attended and successfully passed out of the world famous Royal Military academy Sandhurst in United Kingdom. As an officer in the army, he attended many professional courses and trainings in England and Pakistan.

Brigadier Zakaria Maimalari was a charismatic, influential, disciplinarian, and intimidating character who would not tolerate any disobedience or disloyalty. He feared nobody and exacted discipline from all his subordinates .He was widely respected within the army, especially among the Northern soldiers who viewed him a role model. It took him eight years to become a major , but after that only two years to reach the rank of brigadier ( a promotion of three ranks) and found himself commanding an entire brigade . The only officers of equal rank to him were Ironsi and Ademulegun. He trained and motivated some of the top ranking officers of the Nigerian army.

A riot almost broke out when an attempt was made to remove Brigadier Maimalari’s name from notices at the 2nd brigade headquarters in Lagos. Many soldiers believed that he is still alive. A heroic mythology grew around his character.

The murder of Brigadier Zakaria Maimalari in particular caused grief and anger among Northern soldiers, they felt it a duty to avenge the death of their colleagues murdered in January .The volatile situation in the Nigerian army was not helped by Ironsi’s decision not to court –martial the executors of the coup ...

A riot almost broke out when an attempt was made to remove Brigadier Maimalari’s name from notices at the 2nd brigade headquarters in Lagos. He was a holder of the campaign star medal, medal forces service star, Queen Elizabeth’s the 2nd coronation medal and United Nation’s Congo medal. http://www.gamji.com/article10000/NEWS10300.htm

To all those who have purchased simply verify your customs duty clearance

Madam dont go adding your friend bought this and faced whatever , she did not buy through tadeus so dont go making a hasty generalisation thereby bastardizing ones business and online personality.

A simple Analogy, if i went to computer village to buy a phone and i was sold a fake phone does that mean all the traders in computer village sell fake..

Let small sense fall on you madam...
Why should they take it down? shocked Let it remain up here please. Thank God everyone can read and draw their own conclusions, by themselves. sad It would serve as a good learning or reference point for others. The mods should just change the title to reflect what truly took place.

Thank goodness, Tadeus too has explained his own side of things, while the Madam has also stated what happened. Now all the readers have come to the same conclusion: Tadeus did not defraud anybody and he is not dubious. Chikena! It was just a case of flared tempers and emotional outbursts on both sides.
