You lied and tell your dad he needs to retrace his ancestral history oncemore. Anioma has nothing to do with biafra and will never have anything to do with such faceless, derogatory and evil-prone terrorist organisation. Has it occur to you what it be like under these zealous, callous and greedy people calling for biafra? You'll be a first class minority and will be treated with despair and hate. You and your dad better have a rethink cause it's better felt than explained.

My brother not only Ika ooo, even me from that region you mentioned(Asaba) can't think of what life will be like to be tagged that rag-tagged terrorist organisation called Biafra. I won't hesitate denouncing it immediately. But thank God it's just a day-dream from attention seekers that won't even see day light. What happened in 1967 is about repeat itself again. Igbo folks should be wise now and see the handwriting on the wall. Else they'll cry foul to have been massively killed and their land disfigured.

(1) Unless you enter a deal with your neighbor, do not assume his sympathy or friendship with you mean he will lay his neck for you. Blaming him when he has exhaust his own limit should never be termed backstabbing or sabotaging. Define boundaries before blackmailing anyone. Because you help a lady get an appointment does not mean she must marry you; separate deals must be entered.

Very true! Terms of engagement need to be spelt out in black and white, before the deal proceeds. Assumption is the father of stupidity and conflict. angry

Olabestonic001:
(2) Seems that Igbo's are too emotional to form a stable society. Its obvious that Igbo's mostly are sensational and bear grudges way too easily. They need to outgrow that folly.
(3)Igbo's seems not to wanna learn how to deal with people. Diplomacy is alien to most comments I've read from most of you guys. That's a gross weakness which has caused severe backlash from the communities they reside in. From all indications, its a gross weakness that they need to work on immensely
Yep...this is true of those Igbo pro-Biafra e-warriors on Nairaland, but I don't think it applies to Igbo in the wider society outside NL. undecided

(4) Igbo's are a hateful bunch when you don't share their views. .... Unless they outgrow the childish tendency of -a kid who prayed that his father looses his job because he did not buy him his toy- they will forever be viewed badly. It was even such that Tonyebarcanista is facing.

I hope in the next 50years, Igbo's (Biafra or not) would have outgrown this their sensational, illogical and emotional hate on others. Only that can help them.

Also known as Olumirin waterfalls, the Erin-Ijesha waterfalls is located in Ipetu-Ijesha in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria. The waterfall is a tourist attraction for several people miles around, and it is a sight to behold for tourism purposes. There is also a thriving mat-weaving market in this area.
Thanks a lot for this. These pictures do not do justice to those waterfalls. They are truly majestic. It's official. You truly are brain dead if you can't differentiate a sarcastic comment from a real one. I'll repeat exactly what I told you cause I had no interest reading a long out moonlight story telling. Yes... You know the Douglas family, just like you know Mendela, Buhari, Barack obama, etc. Nigga you know the entire planet. What a pathetic loser!! Tufiakwa!!!

Even with visual picture and you are still unable to differentiate between a home library and a BOOK SHELF, then nothing on earth can assist you.
Someone once said: “Ad hominem attacks are the refuge of a lazy and illogical mind.” sad So your attacks and disparaging comments, have actually provided an insight into the laziness that exists within your mind. In order to mask your poor logic and laziness, you have decided to dub your comments as ‘sarcasm’. Okay o! If it makes you feel better, you can continue to pretend along that line. For some strange reason, the fact that I know a few members of the Graham-Douglas family upsets you deeply. Eeyah! Try not to choke on your pain. undecided

ikechu1278:
I'll repeat EXACTLY what I said before. NIGERIAN HOMES do not have a library FACT!!! And since you asked how many homes I've been in, considering my father has multiple business partners, I've been to more homes than I can count. Hell I've in more than 4 cities in that country therefore, my statement isn't focused on just one state, nor one region but spread out. I'll repeat my earlier statement: Your university library is nothing but a joke yet your @ss is arguing you people have home libraries? Dude take a several seats back
Hehehehe….I laughed really hard when I got to this part. cheesy You still could not answer my question. How many homes in Nigeria have you visited? Your response of “many homes than I can count,” is nothing but pure conjecture which is not quantifiable. Did you visit 10 or 20 homes? Or probably 50 or 100? Kindly let us know. Lagos alone has 1.2 million homes with over 15 million inhabitants. Abuja too has several hundreds of thousands of homes, just like Port-Harcourt. So, if we can safely assume that maybe 5% of those homes are owned by wealthy folks, one would have to wonder how you were able to conduct all those visits. Well maybe you used telepathic means. undecided

Just for the record, here are a few people that owned librariries in their homes:

Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo former President of Nigeria, has a multi-million naira library called the Presidential Library, in his Hill Top Mansion in Abeokuta, which he set up after he left office;

Chief Fredrick Rotimi Alade Williams, BA, MA, CFR, SAN, regarded as a man of monumental stature, both in physique and in the legal profession, was the first Minister of Justice and Local Government in the old Western Region of Nigeria, and the first Chairman of the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. His private library contains more volumes that many tertiary institutions.

The late Justice Kayode Eso of the Supreme Court also had a library in his house. Do a Google search to confirm all the info. shocked

ikechu1278:
Despite all this, you couldn't answer my question because deep down, despite your shameless attempt to deny commonsense, you know there's nothing justifiable to disprove what's written. I'll bet a million dollars you went looking for a Col Ojeh from any other author and till now, couldn't find one hence you desperate attempt to act like an illiterate without a single ounce of sense. Am I right?
Wow! You take relish in using derogatory language, sha. It must give you a high, but sadly it shows how uncouth you are. People who continually do so are reported to have deep-seated unresolved psychological issues. So I would advise you to seek help before it is too late.

You used the word ‘illiterate, shameless, lack of common sense etc.’ These insults have merely given everyone an insight into the contents of your mind. Is there something you are trying to hide?? Or is this person related to you and you are trying to cover up his atrocities?? shocked

A Rivers man Alabo Abiye mentioned Col. Ojeh in his article on the civil war. If the man did not exist, why would Alabo Abiye come up to accuse him of atrocities, 45 years after the civil war? And why are you trying to discredit Alabo Abiye’s accounts of this soldier by acting like he did not exist? Biafra was reported to have had over 7,000 soldiers under its military high command. Do you have all the names and identities of each of those soldiers?? Kindly let us know. If such a list exists, and this soldier’s name cannot be found, then you would have a case.

ikechu1278:
Ths is what you get when someone is desperate.
Are you for real? The Igbo has higher community and people than Ijaw yet every Igbo that fought for Nigeria and murdered Igbo are known by the entire Igbo community. Hell Igbo in Ebonyi can give you detail account of which Igbo man that assisted Nigeria commit the atrocity they did in Aniomaland. Yet in your PITIFUL attempt to save face, you claiming that the Ijaw are so far wide that they weren't of one of their own that was busy killing Ijaws. Even so far wide that one of their own who worked alongside the government equally was not aware of this Ijaw mad man. WOW!!!! What a reach. Then again, what do we expect from someone that's desperate. Kudos to you dude. Kudos
There is no desperation anywhere. I have given you an explanation to this, which you chose to discard. Sorry, it is not my job to make you see reason, if you have decided to perpetually close your mind to accepting the truth. The reason why so much is known about the Asaba massacre has been given. Apart from that, the nature of the atrocities committed in Asaba against the Anioma, was different from the atrocities committed against the eastern minorities as outlined by Alabo Abiye.

Those minorities have not coordinated themselves to embark on a project to bring to light, all those who wreaked havoc on their people during the war, just like the Anioma were able to do which culminated in the documentation on the Asaba Massacre which was placed before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in 2001, which was more than 30 years after the war. When the Eastern minorities are able to do so, the facts would be made plain for all to see. undecided

ikechu1278:
Like I said you truly do have a reading comprehension problem. First no common sense, second unable to read sarcasm and now still unable to read someone already written.
Since I'm tired of breaking things down to microscopic level and your brain still demonstrate difficulty grasping it, as I said I'm not a Teacher and I'm not interested becoming one for some clearly slow therefore, I am just going to keep requoting myself.

Common sense tells going by who was doing the protecting and where they were held at that the answer is B. Judging from Douglas book, he mentioned that both the igbos and minorities were inching for revenge and stemming with anger, once again...that points the anwer to B.
Again, my earlier response to you still stands. Kindly go back and read it, with an open mind. You have tried to potray your own claims as being superior to others, yet when confronted with your failings, you resort to verbal attacks of the worst kind.

Your propensity for insults and slurs shows that you have unresolved psychological issues. Seek help. You claim that the Igbos and minorities wanted revenge and were steaming with anger….against who?? huh Anger against who and revenge for what?? Kindly let us know, as your response is incomplete and does not contain a direct link to the causes of their anger.

ikechu1278:
Is this nigg@ for real? WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Newsflash dude: A war was going on, preparation of war was going on. Stop asking stup1d and start using that God given brain lord gave you. I'll repeat what I've told you many times: COMMON SENSE IS A BEAUTIFUL THING. Use it more often
You are joking right??! shocked Because your statement implies a breakdown in law and order within Biafra if the police could not arrest the arsonists, and bring them to book! It is on record in most books about the war, that people were being arrested on a regular basis and thrown into detention, especially those branded as saboteurs. So, if the so-called saboteurs could be arrested and detained, what stopped them from arresting the arsonists, especially since in your view they were eastern indigenous people?? Don't replace one lie with another lie.

So you would like us to believe that because a war was going on, the police in Biafra were incapable of fishing out offenders and making them account for their crimes, but they had enough time to round up so-called saboteurs! Brilliant analysis! cheesy

Nah, in this case it is your own lack of common sense that is glaring. No matter the amount of insults you recycle on this thread, it will not cover-up the truth. It is obvious that your inability to provide answers to this simple question is causing you to hyperventilate and lash out in fury. Eeyah, sorry o! sad

ikechu1278:
The rest of this is just laughable trash. So because of the no victor, no vaniqushed is the reason why your government couldn't provide not one proof to justify what they claim occurred despite their opponent LITERALLY told them it's okay and they want to see it?
I repeat what I told you earlier..You are terrible in lies. .
Again, you have not said anything new other than to take refuge in the petty insults and disparaging comments that have become your trademark. It shows how you have been schooled. sad

Even Achebe as pointed out earlier, did not write his memoirs until more than 40 years after the civil war, in order to document his account of what transpired during the war. Sam Enadeghe Umweni who wrote 88 Days in Biafra, also took 37 years, before he could share his story with the public. Don't forget that the Gowon administration banned all references to the war and discussions concerning it under the 'No Victor, No Vanquished' policy. He also had the power to incarcerate anyone who breached that law. So the Biafran side that was calling people to come out openly to discuss their war experience, did not have power to protect or shield anyone who breached that rule promulgated by Gowon. So many folks including the Eastern minorities kept quiet.

People (especially eastern minorities) went through a lot of traumatic experiences during the war, and for some their minds would never truly heal, even though the physical scars are long gone. sad

Some folks start talking after they have recovered emotionally, to confront their traducers. This recovery process could take days or even months, or years. Others keep their pain buried for life, because talking about it would renew the pain and trauma that has held them hostage.

So don’t worry, the Eastern minorities who suffered atrocities in the hands of the Biafran soldiers, as well as the federal forces, would one day write their own account when their healing process is complete. undecided

ADEBAYO OGUNLESI:Meet the Nigerian who led Gatwick Airport Acquisition!

A Nigerian, Adebayo Ogunlesi, has acquired the London Gatwick Airport as the new owner. The Gatwick deal is a £1.455 billion agreement with BAA Airports Limited. Adebayo Ogunlesi, 56, is the chairman and managing partner, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), an independent investment fund based in New York City with worldwide stake in infrastructure assets,is the new owner of the London Gatwick Airport. cheesy

The Nigerian who led Gatwick Airport Acquisition attended prestigious King’s College, Lagos. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association. He was a lecturer at Harvard Law School and the Yale School. Ogunlesi, whose father was the first Nigerian-born medical professor, studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford and then earned law and business degrees from Harvard.

Ogunlesi has lived in New York for 20 years and is active in volunteer work. But he also cultivates his ties to Africa. He informally advises the Nigerian government on privatisation. The late Manute Bol, former NBA center, visited Ogunlesi in his Park Avenue office, seeking donations for a charitable foundation in former basketball star Manute Bol’s homeland, Sudan. Ogunlesi walked the late Bol around the hallways, introducing him to junior staff. It was just another day in the Bayosphere.

Prior to his current role, he was executive vice chairman and chief client officer of Credit Suisse, based in New York. He previously served as a member of Credit Suisse’s Executive Board and Management Council and chaired the Chairman’s Board. Previously, he was the Global Head of Investment Banking at Credit Suisse. Since joining Credit Suisse in 1983, Ogunlesi has advised clients on strategic transactions and financings in a broad range of industries and has worked on transactions in North and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. undecided

In the US, he is known as the Nigerian who clerked for late Supreme Court justice, Thurgood Marshall, who they say was unable to pronounce his name and quickly dubbed him Obeedoogee. Colleagues and friends call him Bayo. wink

As at present and has it was in the past, the political rudder of Kwara state is geared towards North and Arewa unity, so how can that be in synchrony with South Western developmental plans? These people can be very irritating how they behave sometimes.

Look at their governor, who by the way is 100% Yoruba, looking like an almajiri sympathiser
smh...*sigh! I will hold my peace, after I say this. Please do not take offence. Since I am not from your ethnic group, I seek for erm, what is that word now?? huh Erm, 'gafara' or permission to say this. Among the Yorubas of the North, there has been a lot of acculturation, so their dressing and culture is heavily influenced by their proximity to the North, as well as religious factors.

This is not their fault really, as these cultural influences diffused into their communities over several generations, through no fault of theirs'. sad

Take the Itsekiri, for example. They wear double wrappers like the Niger-Delta communities, they have strong cultural practices that are unique to themselves alone, even though their language sounds like a dialect of Yoruba, and many of them bear Yoruba names. They have a unique identity. Yet, the Yoruba people have not sought to influence them in any way, or accuse them of being aloof. They are accepted, just the way they are. wink

Why can't that same relationship exist with the Ilorin folks?? Just wondering. Yes, Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara bears a Yoruba name and speaks Yoruba. But is his paternal and maternal ancestry, pure Yoruba or has it been mixed with other influences through the ages? Many of those families no longer bother about what Afonja or Alimi did, even though there is still a measure of subtle rivalry among various communities in the town. undecided

In fact, when I did my training there, some of the indigenes when they were lost for words in describing someone, would just say 'Omo Fulani Ilorin, ni' and everyone would immediately understand the subliminal message they were trying to convey. There was no need to go into too many details. Kindly forgive my poor use of Yoruba language - I can follow some words, but can't speak, because my accent is atrocious. I know all the cuss words though! cheesy

Like I said in a much earlier post, a lot of acculturation has occurred within many of these families, and their communities. And it did not start today. Ilorin is just a peculiar case, unlike other communities outside the town.

I would advocate caution in approaching them, and also an open mind, in trying to understand their lifestyle. Just my 2 cents. Apologies if my post has offended anyone. Peace. undecided

Massob protest in Port Harcourt… last week

• I’m Against Lugard, Would Die For Biafra — Nnamdi Kanu
• DSS Complicates Kanu’s Detention
• FG Mishandling Free Speech-Intersociety
DID embattled Biafra self-determination activist of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, fly into Nigeria to actualize his declaration that the geographical expression known as Nigeria would cease to exist by September 30, 2015?

The Department of State Services (DSS) arrested the activist on Saturday October 17, 2015 in a Lagos Hotel shortly after he came into Nigeria from his United Kingdom base. He was flown to Abuja where he was also arraigned in a Magistrate court, which granted him bail to the tune of N2m and a surety in the same amount.

However, after perfecting the bail conditions, Kanu could not be produced in court on October 23, being the return date given by the magistrate, even as the DSS did not give reasons for not bringing the activist to court, thus fueling speculations of extra-judicial detention over the separatist comments of the pro-Biafra activist.

Chairman of Intersociety, Emeka Umeagbalasi condemned the extra-judicial detention of Nnamdi Kanu, even as he urged the DSS and Federal Government not to repeat the mishandling of the Yusufiyya movement that led to the extra-judicial killing of the group’s leader, Mohammed Yusuf stressing that Kanu’s fundamental rights should be respected.

In an interview with select journalists in Enugu during the 47th anniversary commemoration of Biafra Day, on May 30, 2014; Kanu projected that by September 30, 2015 Nigeria would cease to exist even as he declared his readiness to fight all the way until Biafra is carved out of Nigeria as a separate republic.

He traced the killings of Igbo people, whom he called the indigenous people of Biafra; in the northern part of the country to the lopsided development and federal superstructure that tended to reward mediocrity to the conspiracy against Igbo, saying that, “injustice makes life unbearable to our people.”

He regretted, for instance, that 47 years after the war, war veterans from the Biafran side had not been paid their allowances like their colleagues, saying; “These men fought under the Coat of Arms of Nigeria. The war broke out and they fought for their country Biafra and they have not been paid. It is a great injustice. It is a continuation of the same injustice that led us to try to extricate ourselves from this Luggard creation called zoological republic of Nigeria. That is why it is very disheartening that you see old men in every blessed month crying and wishing that their money will come to them and nothing happens”.

“As long as the intention and purpose of the amalgamation of North and South were designed to cheat the South,” he went on, “the nation would never move forward, because any country that makes injustice its watch word can never prosper.”
“The Yorubas have been paid, the Hausa Fulani have been paid; then those of them belonging to Biafra have not been paid. It is an injustice that must be addressed and it is part of the reason why we are doing what we are doing because in the new Biafra we would not have this level of injustice”.....
They fought on the side of Biafra. They did not fight under the coat of arms of Nigeria. So the proponents of Biafra should pay them. Period. sad

The yoruba Okun people speak is as clear as the one the yorubas in Lagos speak
Sir, with all due respect I beg to disagree. The Yoruba spoken by the Okun people in Kogi, sounds like a mixture of Ekiti and something else. Only the Yoruba spoken by the Offa and Ilorin folks, is pure Yoruba. I guess you wanted to refer to the Ilorin Yorubas.

yeeeeeeee mo gbe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have been duped. I accepted the story hook line and sinker, I also read it up and that was what i read. i need to read up more niyen sha.
Bros, let me explain the bit that I remember. There are certain areas in the northern part of Igboland, that share borders with Igala land.

That is why areas in the north of Anambra, like Odekpe, Nzam & co, have Igala communities living there. It is their ancestral land of those Igala communities. There are also parts of the northern axis of Enugu (e.g. Ette, Nsukka side) and Edo State, that share the same border with Igala communities, so you find a few places there inhabited by Igala. There has been quite a bit of acculturation, sha so it is not unusual to find a few Igalas in these parts bearing Igbo names. undecided

Now in historical times, a few places in the northern part of Anambra state that share a border with Igala land were believed to have been founded by Igala ancestors (e.g. Ossomala, Odekpe etc.) But those towns in northern Anambra, are now acculturated with mainstream Igbo and many of them have lost any ties or Igala influences. I do not think you would find any indigenous Ossomalans who self-identify as Igala today. sad

That is what I remember. Igalas are peaceful. But when the guys across the Niger started their territorial expansion, by including their land in the map of their proposed country, all gloves were off. Tempers also flared when the oil refinery issue came up as many fish ponds and farmlands belonging to the Igala communities, were destroyed. undecided
