There's always an armoured tank and police personnel always at that fagba junction, but at that particular time, they were none of them around. So people suspect that those people might be communicating with some corrupt police. I dread policemen that I can't even enter their station. But from the information we got that the police around there are aware but can't dare confront those people.
Stop suspecting, guessing & spreading unfounded rumours. I asked you a question: did you personally report your findings to the police, army or any of the armed forces security agencies, before coming to NL to wail?

I'm a proud Nigerian despite that we have stupid, wicked, greedy and satanic leaders who are largely hausas, yorubas and igbos in top position (presidential, senatorial, ministerial) over the years in Nigeria. Every tribe is guilty! For me, I don't fancy anywhere else in 9ja compared to Lagos but calling Nigeria a zoo is what makes me reply you. You are a fool if you still carry that failed kanu-biafran mentality. I thought this has been put to bed? I'm not saying Nigeria is where we want it to be but I don't regret being a Nigerian. I didn't make myself.

Nigeria is not the problem but the people becos of tribalism, nepotism etc. Na here God create me and I can't change that because He has a reason. Once you have the Nigerian blood if you like go to America, you are a Nigerian. You cease to exist if you don't acknowledge where you ar from. Don't think you are dissing other Nigerians, that make you an animal too.

PoliticsRe: Drama As I Was Walked Out Of Stakeholders' Meeting At Abuja Yesterday by laudate:
Throwback:
How can someone admit he was arguing from a position of hatred and bitterness, then betrayed his ignorance, yet surprised he was thrown out of the meeting?

Again Igbos and their love for delusional statistics. Claiming that 50% of the applicants are Igbos is a lie that even shows that there is no educational infrastructure in the East, as such the Igbos are hellbent that their kids must only be educated at the federal unity schools that enjoy a federal subsidy and already have a fair allocation of admission slots for all the states of the federation, to reflect the intention of national unity among the children from the diverse tribes of Nigeria.

But the greedy Igbos want it all, failing to understand that this is not a competition between tribes, but a federal government programme that is deliberately designed to be inclusive of all Nigerians, and not a winner takes all approach that Igbos have falsely attached to these schools, which are not the only secondary schools in Nigeria, nor do they even make up to 1% of the secondary schools that a brilliant Igbo child can attend and pay fees accordingly.

That states from the south have higher applicants and better scores results to the high cutoff for the south as opposed to the North. This is because you cannot exceed your already allocated quota even if all southerners score a perfect 100%, only the allocated number of slots already given to the respective states in the South can be filled.

No matter how this matter is diced, the South always have more applicants and eventually more admissions than the North, who have shown time and time again that they are still lagging behind even in the application, talkless of admission. The slots not taken up by the Northern states that do not fulfill their assigned quota, is reassigned to the rest of the North, then if still unfulfilled, will be reassigned to the same South that has already fulfilled their own quota in a fairly contributive education programme.

But the bitter, hateful and greedy Igbos will always lament and wail endlessly despite already fulfilling their own quota in the programme.

I find it hard to believe the rest of the litany of misinformation you listed, when you already lied that there are only 2 Igbo principals in the Federal unity school system?

Are you saying that the principals of the schools in the East are not Igbos?

Why lament over having 12 unity schools for 5 Igbo states? It simply means each of the 5 states have at least 2 unity schools, and 2 out of 5 Igbo states actually have 3 unity schools. This is the standard in all the other 6 regions of Nigeria where most states have 2 unity schools, but a few have 3 unity schools. So why this lamentation borne out of greed to have it all? Must the Igbos always crave to be the victims of any policy their imagination can produce?

For all the shortcomings you mentioned which I find to be absurd if true, what roles did the many Igbo ministers of Education during the Obasanjo regime do to rectify them.

Prof. Fabian Osuji
Prof. Chinwe Obaji
Dr Oby Ezekwesili.

What did the Igbo beloved Jonathan do to rectify them? What exactly did SGF Anyim Pius Anyim do to rectify them?

Are you saying that the unity schools in the North are left empty without students from the south despite being applied to by candidates from the South?

If indeed they are true allegations.

My position on quota system for Unity schools is well known on this forum.
That you still had to go there to ask why there is low cutoff for Zamfara versus high cutoff for Abia or IMO or Lagos or Ogun, already suggests that you were too ignorant to even be discussing unity school admission policy.
My younger brothers attended Federal Govt Unity Schools in the Middle-Belt and Northern states. And they reported that a high number of Igbo students, made up the total number of pupils, in their respective schools. undecided So I am not sure if the speaker who protested against the exclusion of Igbo students, actually conducted an on-the-ground assessment of the situation, in each unity school.

The funds for running the schools come from all parts of Nigeria. It is not as if states in the SE contribute more funds towards the running of the unity schools, than states in other parts of the country....just saying. undecided

..... TheCable had also reported how Nigeria will be paying $17 million (over N6 billion) to the freshly engaged lawyers who would “help” with the repatriation of $321 million stolen by Abacha.

This amount is nearly thrice more than what was already paid to Monfrini for the same job.

A senior official of the ministry of justice had told TheCable that “this is a case of re-looting Abacha loot”.

“A simple letter from the office of our attorney-general of the federation to the Swiss attorney-general requesting the repatriation of the funds to Nigeria, consequent upon the signing of an MoU, was all that was required to consummate the deal,” the official said.

“From nowhere, Malami went and appointed another set of lawyers to do his job for him, and for few million dollars too.”
The Cable Foundation, a partner organisation of TheCable newspaper, is currently in court to seek an order of mandamus compelling the AGF to release the details of the repatriation agreements with the lawyers.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: FG Uncovers 925 Hard-to-fill Vacancies In Labour Market by laudate: 7:42am On Apr 07, 2018
dre11:
By Francis Arinze Iloani

Despite high unemployment in Nigeria, the Federal Government has uncovered 925 “difficult and very difficult-to-fill vacancies in the country’s labour market.

Skills Gap Assessment report released yesterday by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) revealed that the vacancies that employers find difficult to fill can be attributed to lack of skills, qualifications or experience among applicants.

The report seen by Daily Trust, which relied on responses from industries polled, disclosed that 19.7 vacancies in housing are difficult to fill just as 13.9 per cent in petrochemicals, 14.7 in other goods, 11.4 in auto industry, 10.3 in textiles, 10.1 per cent in steel, 8.9 in services and 3.3 per cent in leather.

The report found that 15.7 per cent of all hard-to-fill vacancies were due to lack of technical skills, 11.8 per cent due to lack of basic IT skills and 9.2 per cent due to lack of advanced IT skills.

Soft skills such as planning and organising skills, customer handling skills or team working skills were mentioned with regards to between 9.7 per cent and 7.5 per cent of hard-to-fill vacancies.

To remedy the shortage in manpower skills, the report stated that employers take remedial actions such as increasing salaries, increasing trainings to existing staff, redefining jobs, offer training to less qualified recruits, and increasing and expanding trainee programmes.

The Director General of the ITF, Sir Joseph Ari, told guests at the public presentation of the report, that the skills gap report would serve as a reference document for human capital development in the country.

Let them place an open advert, and see if there won't be people rushing to fill such roles. There are too many qualified unemployed people with various skills, that lack jobs.

Each time a vacancy is advertised in my own office, we get over 2,000 applications from the public just for 1 single role. sad So what are these people saying? Is it basic IT skills that the average Nigerian graduate lacks? Or is it planning and organising skills, customer handling skills or team working skills, that they cannot learn and deploy?

LAGOS@50: Ambode Commissions 10 Roads, Three Bridges, Other Projects | Monarch, Community Leaders Laud Quality Of Projects

The Lagos @ 50 celebrations took a new dimension this week as the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode embarked on commissioning of several infrastructural projects across the State.

The projects, including network of roads, bridges, seven transformers, Street Lighting infrastructures, monuments and a recreation park, the Governor said was in line with his commitment to make life comfortable for residents irrespective of location within the boundaries of the State.

Among the projects commissioned from Tuesday and expected to climax on Saturday include Ijegun-Isheri-Osun-Isolo Road, Idimu-Ejigbo Road (Phase II), New Market Road, Camp Davies Road/Ishefun Road, all in Alimosho Local Government Area; Brown Road in Surulere; Adisa Ajibulu Road with Bridge and Kolawole Shonibare Street, Ajao Estate Road, both in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area.

Other projects include installation of new transformers in Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, Eredo, Agbowa-Ikosi, Igbogbo-Bayeku, Ikorodu and Olorunda areas as well as Ojuloge Monument located opposite National Arts Theatre, Iganmu; Empowerment Monument at Sabo, Yaba; Drummer Monument at Ebute Ipakodo Roundabout, Ikorodu and Badagry Recreational Park, Topo, Idale.

At the commissioning of Ijegun-Isheri, Osun-Isolo Road, the Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Wasiu Anifowose said the delivery of the road project was part of the efforts of his administration to ease movement of people from one point to the other.

The dual carriage way road project, which included two bridges at Isheri Oshun and Ailegun junction, drains on both sides, service ducts and street lighting, among others, is a viable alternative route for people of Ijegun, Ijeododo and Isheri Oshun to link Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway through Jakande Estate.

The road, which is with a total length of 6,500m long and average width of 20.350m, was also designed to significantly decongest traffic at the ever busy Ikotun junction.

He said the project would greatly improve connectivity and significantly reduce travel time as well as man hour lost due to traffic congestion in the area. While commending the quality of the work done on the project, the Monarch said the road would greatly relieve Ejigbo, Ikotun and Ijegun of the perennial traffic congestion in the areas.

Governor Ambode also commissioned Brown Road in Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) which is a link road to about 12 other roads in the area...
