Isn't there a law that clearly states that a prescription drug like codeine shouldn't be sold without a doctor's prescription? Why then does the greedy ibo drug store owner clearly flout that law?
Codeine is actually an essential component of some cough mixtures. And there is no need to produce a doctor's prescription, before buying cough mixture...

PropertiesRe: Landlord Or Tenants: Who Is To Fix Damaged Water Pump Machine? by laudate: 7:14am On Apr 05, 2018
Boss13:
The Landlord is responsible for all repairs and maintenance because he/she owns the asset and enjoys benefits in the form of rent from the usage of the asset and in order to continue to enjoy this benefit, he/she must ensure the asset is in good form.

However, you must review the tenancy agreement you have with your landlord or estate management company. If the contract stipulates that repairs and maintenance would be undertaken by the Tenant, then you may have to contribute. If there is no such condition in the agreement, the Landlord would be responsible for such repairs.

On the other hand and because many Landlords in Nigeria are ill exposed and vindictive, you may consider contributing to avoid future problems which may result to termination of the contract at a point you may be at a disadvantage position.

I am giving you this advice based on what is expected and what is practically obtainable and what I have experienced. I remember my bachelorhood, when I was residing on the mainland, my Landlord insisted I pay N4,000 per month as PHCN. I was paying for his power consumption and mine and there was even change. He never issued me any receipt. I discovered this after my investigation, and after paying for 3 years. I went to PHCN and they were shocked. I saw the monthly consumption and payment. I confronted him and that was the genesis of our very toxic relationship till I relocated to the island.

On the island, the estate management company is responsible for all repairs and maintenance even down to my doorknob. Any issue, I escalate and they fix it. However, if there is any delay and I can no longer wait, I can proceed to fix it, send the receipt to them and deduct it from my rent.

Hope you are able to note the difference.
First of all, how much do you pay as annual rent on the Island? huh Let us compare it with what you used to pay on the mainland. sad It is most likely to be much higher, and it is also obvious that a service charge has been bundled into your annual rent on the Island, which is why you can enjoy such prompt repair and maintenance services, at no additional cost.

The most sensible thing to do while you were still living on the mainland, would have been to acquire a pre-paid meter for yourself, after discovering your landlord's duplicity, in order to be able to monitor your power consumption and utility bills. undecided It would have prevented any toxic relationship between both of you.

Their boastful nature has cost them a lot. sad But their contemptuous, scornful attitude towards other ethnic groups, and their sense of undue entitlement is what baffles me. They are still unable to see the damage it has done, to their relationships with others. Is it that you people have not evolved to the point of understanding that chest beating and lack of modesty is generally socially unacceptable?

Did the world evolve into valuing modesty & humility and leave Ibo's behind? Ever heard the wise saying that pride always comes before a fall?

Even one of your greatest intellectuals wrote many years ago that one of the greatest weaknesses of the ibo is their tendency to irritate "through noisy exhibitionism". To think you people are still ignorant of the negative consequences of your chronic immodesty shows you have a very long way to go in this country.

I'm not saying that you should change your behaviour because you're clearly helplessly plagued with this social handicap, but I'm just surprised that you think immodest behaviour is welcome anywhere in the civilised world, even by those that actually have things to brag about.
Even Chinua Achebe tried to offer them advice in this regard, but they ignored it. What a pity! undecided They only went to town waving sections of his book, that favoured their use of propaganda against other ethnic groups and the nation, while discarding the portion that suggested they should improve their behaviour. sad

Yet, not one Nigerian of pure eastern ancestry is on the Forbes list. undecided

What is your defination of "ahead of you". I have eastern relations pure and mixed; I know what poverty in the east looks and unfortunately feels like.

The eastern part of Nigeria is the worst part of Nigeria to live on less than a dollar a day.

The entire wealth generated by most eastern businessmen comes from the ports (import). The current disapproval from the eastern elites towards the current government is largely associated with the new policies in the ports.

The large rise in IGR from the customs and sister agencies came out of the improvement in revenue collections, the bans of tooth picks, rice and others affected more eastern business than others.

I have said it in the past, eastern businesses cannot compete with the current changes in the Nigerian economy, they are already making less money, than their counterparts in the north; south-south and south-west.

I can write a whole academic paper on the demise of the eastern commercial hegemony. Coscharis recently accessed a 10billion naira loan from the FGN and our pride Innoson loan from GTB was about 3BN; compared to Rabiu BUA or Aliko Dangote accessing loans running to hundreds and billions of dollars. BUA $400+ M, Dangote $10+ B.

I mean you cannot tell anyone than Osha (Onitsha) has far more millionaires than Kano city; you can claim it but the IGR tells us a different story; generally.

Half your productive workforce is either in Lagos or offshore. You have a big problem in the east, and your solution lies in real and not suppose commercial and industrial output on Nigerian soil.

What will become of eastern business as more products are banned?
It has been a long time since I read something so incisive, astute and interesting. cheesy Here sir, please do have a drink. You deserve nothing but the very best for your efforts. cool A toast to your good health.....cheers!

Nobody is saying being a virgin adds to character.

Being a virgin is a show of good character, one must have good character and self discipline. It is weak women that sleep around, a strong woman would never allow herself be used
No sir, being a virgin is NOT really a sign of good character. sad It just means that such a person has not had sex. Does it mean he/she cannot be a liar, a thief or a backstabber? huh No. In this world, there are only good and bad people. Just as you have virgins with good character, you also have those with bad character. Same thing goes for non-virgins as well. I have done extensive work with adolescents, and you will be surprised at their thinking.

There are very many strong women who do not sleep around, and do not allow themselves to be used, but are non-virgins. undecided The world is more complex than you have painted it....

Please give specific examples of this communities up North.
Google is your friend.

In Nigeria, 43% of girls are married off before their 18th birthday. 17% are married before they turn 15.

The prevalence of child marriage varies widely from one region to another, with figures as high as 76% in the North West region,
and as low as 10% in the South East.

While data shows a 9% decline in the prevalence of child marriage since 2003, action is needed to prevent thousands of girls from being married in the coming years. In northern Nigeria, parents have complained that the quality of education is so poor that schooling cannot be considered a viable alternative to marriage for their daughters. https://www.girlsnotbrides.org/child-marriage/nigeria/
Nigeria has one of the highest child marriage prevalence rates in the world. With 1,193,000 women married before the age of 18. Nigeria is the third country worldwide for absolute number of child brides (United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)).

In 2013, about 47 percent of the women in Nigeria aged 20-24 were married in union before age 18. Child marriage occurs when one of both parties are below the age of 18. While boys can be affected, the practice predominantly impacts girls.

According to UNFPA child marriage by sub-national regions in Nigeria showed the northwest region having 72 percent, northeast region 72 percent, north-central region 37 percent, and southwest 15 percent; the south-south region reported 26 percent and southeast region 17 percent. Child marriage occurs more frequently among girls who are the least educated, poorest, and living in rural areas.

Child brides are more prevalent in northern Nigeria, particularly in rural areas because girls living in rural areas tend to marry before those living in urban areas. This was why the UNFPA in collaboration with the Kaduna State government in northwest Nigeria launched the Adolescent Girl Initiative in Northern Nigeria. The collective is looking to improve safety for school girls, delay marriage, and promote female empowerment through access to education.

Members of the initiative held an event in Kaduna on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Dignitaries at the event included the Governor of the State Nasir El-Rufai.

Nancy Smith, a representative for the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria who was also at the event in Kaduna said northern Nigeria has the highest rate of female illiteracy in the country and accounts for negative health outcomes, which include: the highest maternal mortality ratio (MMR), infant mortality, as well as the highest rate of early marriage. http://nigerianreporter.com/2016/08/20/child-marriage-in-northern-nigeria-nigerian-newspaper/
