Good morning Bosslady. My name is Kenny and i am new on this thread. I have been reading post on it and i find out you are quite popular and highly respected. Cool! anyway,i have never traveled out of the country before,but now i am going to be traveling to Aussie sometime in October. I just want to know the dos and dont from airport(PTA,immigration, what to expect at the airport and stuffs i can travel with, etc) here in Nigeria down to Aussie.

Thank you and God bless.
Aussie is not a place, its what Australians are called, so i think you meant Oz. Anyways, i don't know it all, just think i should correct you before you make the mistake somewhere else.
By the way, Bosslady is no longer here

Justwise, please take this man and bring back bosslady. Meanwhile, thanks Lawland and aleori for your clear response. But suppose I don't include her in my visa application but later want to do it after the visa is out, any hope? I am asking this because I may not make up my mind too soon, and folks there say 9ja girls are scarce, meaning I have to decide here
If you don't include her now, you won't be able to add her again unless you prove that the relationship was not existing at the time of your application. Its just gonna be hard. Are you coming for masters?

@Lawland thanks for your reply.

Please how easy is it coming back home to marry, as a student, and going back with her immediately, or is it advisable to get married here before leaving so as to make it easier for her to join
Whichever way you chose will be fine... its still the same process. If you are sure she is the girl you want to marry, you might wanna add her to your application that way it will be easier to get her over.

Dear all,

Pls I want to find out from those who have gotten their offers, can an extended family member (with different surnames) sponsor someone on SVP? I heard yes from some, and no from some, thats why am throwing it to the house to clear my confusion. Thanks all
Yes, an extended family member can sponsor you. Usually, Financial requestment does not apply to SVPs but be sure that your CO can request for it if the case officer is not convinced that you have enough money to take care of your education. I believe that the close relationship sponsorship only applies to Assessment level 3 applicants.

Your age isn't a factor have seen a 37years old going for TAFE, actually some TAFE courses require just O level result like ETI WA any other certificate will be an added advantage, checkout www.eti.wa.au consult an agent & iron things out.
Are you in Perth?

Hi Lawland.

Are you saying advanced diplomas are not on SVPs too?
Not all Tafes is eligible for SVP... If yours is eligible, then your AL is svp...

Thanks everyone, I wi ldefinitely inquiry before any comittment.

Another question which my little research hasn't been able to answer is, after an advanced diploma, how many years post graduate work permit can I get?

I know bsc and MSc and PhD lead to 18 to 4yrs.
Getting a graduate visa with advanced diploma is a long process, almost the same as Skillselect only that its not points tested. You have to make sure that your qualification 2 years study and is related to an occupation in SOL not CSOL list and you will have to undergo a skill assessment with the appropriate assessment body.

I have said this before and i am saying it again, if you have submitted a visa application and haven't heard from Pretoria, Send them an email requesting an acknowledgement of your application and they will surely get back to you either with a grant or acknowledgement letter.

They only don't want you to call them on phone. This is what i did and have seen people even in this thread do.

@lawland,

Thanks for your response sir, although that is not what I meant, I mean Visa Sub-Class, not Assessment Level. e.g. Bachelors Degree and Masters by Coursework are Sub-Class 573. So which one does Advance Diploma falls into?
Oh that? My bad.. Its sub-class 572.

hello house. i know i am not suppose to post this here, but becos the new zealand thread has been inactive for some time and new zealand and australia have a lot of similarities i believe this is d next best place where i will get answers to my questions.

i want to apply for a new zealand student visa. i will b studying for a phd program with a duration of 3years and the requirement is that i have a minimum of 15000NZD as annual living stipend. so i will like to know the minimum amount i could have in my account for my student visa to be granted.
I haven't read New Zealand website before but i think you pretty much answered your question. I think they want you to have a minimum of 1 year living stipend in your account which is 15000NZD.

@Lawland, thanks for this info. btw i got an offer from TasTAFE for Computer System Technology package course from Cert II, III and IV to Adv Dip level 3years for $33k and also Gordon Institute of TAFE for Adv Dip Computer Systems Engineering, but am reluctance to accept the offer, since peeps on here said the IT job has been taking over by the Asians and very had to get job after studying IT courses. Pls wat about QLD is it a regional area? TasTAFE is the only VET have seen in Tasmania if u have any other school, kindly share if u have any other school in that state. Thanks
The entire Queensland is not classified as regional area, just some selected postcodes... That the Asians has taken over IT jobs shouldn't discourage you from doings it if its your dream, i believe you will be hired if you are amongst the best. By the way, the SOL should guide you on which course to apply for, if you are aiming for PR. Make sure to check with the assessment body to know the least qualification needed for the occupation.

Hello guys, i sincerly need an advice. I am applying for a tafe program which is 18 months, can I qualify for a PR after? If yes which route? Hope the minimum 2 years won't hinder my getting a PR? Any advice plshuh

Thanks

Cc justwise
I advise you go for a 2 years program unless you want to register for another 6 months program after you finish the 18 months program.

@Lawland,

How can some1 get a State Nomination after studies in Melbourne?
I don't think Victoria gives special treatment to their graduates so you have to apply like everyone else. .

This is really helpful bro. How about schools in Western Australia(Perth specifically)... After Postgraduate(masters), is it feasible to get PR easily?
Perth is not a regional or low growth metropolitan area so no 5 points. For Perth to nominate you for 190 or 489, you must have at least 1 year working experience and there is no exemptions for its graduates.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by lawland: 3:51am On Aug 08, 2015
Hello house,
If you are applying for school in Australia and you want to apply for PR after studies, Pls chose school between South Australia, Tasmania and Northern Territory. That will give you extra 5 points for studying in regional/ low growth metropolitan areas. This states also give special exemption for students that graduated in their state when it comes to state nomination.

Please, do you know if one can claim points from job experience gotten before the highest evaluated degree?

For example, one got his Masters in 2014, but had about 5 years job experience before that time, will those 5 years prior to the Masters count?
Thank you.
Naa.. You can only claim work experience you got after your highest qualifications. But you can claim the point if you assess your B.sc as your highest qualification.

Dear all,

I'm new to the thread. I had read some post and follow up some answers, but non of them is specific to my need. I'm already 30, without a tertiary education degree. Can I secure a student visa to Australia for undergraduate program. Do I stand a chance or it is already to late for me?
Still have the strong urge to study and I have saved up some funds to sponsor myself. Suggestions will be appreciated.
Of course you can can, you just need to write a good SOP giving good reason why you have the education gap...
