Nayah:

I've just read LAX75's message and I'm really really flattered that you guys have accepted me on NL, first of all I thought it would be very difficult to integrate to this big family expecially because I'm non Nigerian but sisters like Pendo ( God I love you girl), Hottie Tima, Ijaw, Mrs Chima and ore recently Ogugua and for guys 2buff, my Jay Bee, 2buff, Davyland and the wonderful message of LAX75 make me say: I love Nigerians and thank God I don't hear what people say about Nigeria because you're welcoming, warm and very funny (Mr Cork lol)

So for all this love you give to me I think the less I could do is to give it back to you so, you're the reason why I'm proud to be AFRICAN

I love you all kiss kiss kiss kiss especially thanks to you LAX75 I'm touched

PS Mods to move this thread please this is a form of Romance and I wish every single brother read it

Sister Nayah.

Its all to the good. I'd consider myself one of the more quiet/shy ones on here, but I do notice your posts. And your inner beauty definitely dwarfs those females on NL who wish they had 1/10th the beauty and intelligence, and positivity you radiate. Please be true to yourself and don't let no chicken-head like CandyLESS rub off on you. You, and sisters like Pendo89, Ogugua, Shyone give us hope  grin

May all the chicken-heads go up in flames. Amen  grin

Then again it makes sense. I didn't know chicken-head was also a commodity traded on wall street.  grin

Your lame azz opinion means nothing. Am hot and a well paid City chick. And if you must know, go educate yourself by looking up the meaning of:: NYSE. Thats where I work. When you get to that level in life, let me know and I can help you. Good day!

LMAO!!!!

You see what I mean The more she opens up her mouth, she gets dimmer and dimmer. Women who are sexy KNOW they are sexy. They don't even have to go round blowing their own trumpet because guys/admirers do that on their behalf.

Note to CandyLESS:- You blowing your own trumpet is the equivalent of a dude riding round in his bently with a sign on his door saying "I'm rich b.i.t.ch!"

What a waste, if you even had 1/10th of the attitude, intellect, humility, wisdom and positive spirit of Nayah, Pendo89 or Ogugua, I would gladly post you on a billboard. But with your "package," you're not even worthy enough to be in my trash can.

Bro, i tire for these ppl o! and their mentalities, its only God can save Nigerians from poverty with the way many Nigerian folks reason on here as if the west is like a paradise to 'em.

Its ok. Let them continue demeaning where they are from and their own people. Who needs Nigerians like that? Do you? I am proud to be a Nigerian, despite the foul reputation that the "no goods" have earned the majority of smart, hopeful, lively, and ambitious Nigerians. The other day, I ran into Teddy Riley while hanging out on Rodeo Drive. When I told him I was Nigerian you should see how he stood back like one omo aje paki and was like "bros, I've been trying to come out to Nigeria for ages with Blackstreet!!" His had an EXTRA excitement the moment he found out that I was Nigerian. He's not the only one who has displayed this reception towards me after finding out I'm Nigerian. At any given day out west, you can run into anyone at any given time.
Romance / Re: Why Don't Women Go Back Home To Marry? by Lax75(m): 5:30pm On Oct 12, 2011
Tosinville:

But why ppl think that its every Nigerians would love to live in the west even though they have a good job in Nigeria? where do they get their statistics from? thats nonsense!!!

Omo T, Bros.

The only people that would have this mentality are those who see nothing positive in themselves. These are people who basically tell God that he made a mistake by creating them and making them Nigerians. And this is coming from someone who lives in the west coast in the midst of hollywood celebs, nice beaches, restaurants, shops, dimepieces etc, It angers me the way our own people look down on their own people and land. I know many people who moved back home and are doing big things and wouldn't even move back to places like LA, San Diego, NY, Atlanta, Miami etc.

Personally I think many women in diaspora have a hard time finding eligible bachelors in Nigeria because those men that are doing well (socio-economically) in Nigeria would not trade Nigeria for the west. Yes, Nigeria has its challenges, and many, however, they are still enjoying a quality of life that the west can't match and many of these women are not willing to move back home.
Celebrities / Re: Based On Profile Pics, Who Deserves To Be "The Sexiest Of The Romance Section" by Lax75(m): 5:15pm On Oct 12, 2011
This is obviously an example that kills the assumption that guys ONLY look at what is on a woman's outside. I would say the reason why guys gravitate towards sister Nayah's milkshake is because her inner beauty and positive spirit amplifies her outer beauty. She is positive, humble, intelligent and wise (at least online, don't know her offline). She is not typical, and ordinary like your average chick who thinks that all it takes to attract and keep men are BATs (i.e. B.oo.bs, @ss and Thighs). She doesn't attempt to elevate herself by putting down other people (especially other women). I would say, this is the reason why NL guys find her sexiness absolute.

I DID (past tense) like candyness' picture (note: I said picture and I never said she is the sexiest). But like many chicks out there who seem to be attractive on the outside to the point where it seems like they shine, she just got dimmer and dimmer the more she opened up her mouth on here (quote from Candyness: the females on Niaraland have nothin to write home about. They just ok .please dont hate the messenger). One thing that makes a woman unattractive is putting down other women, in a pathetic attempt to make herself appear attractive. I think a lot of broads could use a tip or two by echoing the attitudes of REAL sexy sisters like Nayah, Ogugua and Pendo89.

My two cents.

Jenifa_:

for people who have lived in lagos all their lives and have lived long enough to survive the worst, their body is acclimated to the air so there is not much problem with it. as long as you don't live under third mainland bridge (for the person who made the comment about molue and danfo) you should be fine.

for me, I don't favor the idea of gyming. it's for people who have lots of leisure time.

Hello, first of all, it is Molues and Danfos are all over the streets of Lagos (not just under third mainland bridge)

Second of all (bolded statement) - This is false. There are 24 hours in a day, and many people spend more than an hour on the internet, watching TV, and engaging in other activities that are not work-related. I have an EXTREMELY busy schedule myself, but I am disciplined and dedicated to reserving at least 1-hour a day to carry out my workout schedule.

I know mothers with children who have jobs (not one) that have little leisure time and still work out (bare in mind you don't have to go to the gym to work out).

So what I'm saying in other words that what you said is an excuse. The activities you mentioned, such as parking minutes away from destination, washing dishes with hands, washing clothes with hands etc. are all fine and good, but are not sufficient for those who really want to achieve high target heart rates and get very toned. The activities you mentioned would not enable people like Jennifer Hudson to achieve the body she has today. It took aggressive physical activities to achieve that, along with a healthy diet ofcourse. Take a look at all your fitness magazines and you will see for yourself that it is filled with exercises and activities that are more aggressive than mere physical activities.

Lol working out in Lagos is useless. Not only for the reasons you stated, but the air is terrible. Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul. Sure, your body needs the exercise, but your body also needs clean fresh air. Going outside to walk or run, inhaling all that nonsense, is not worth it. The only safe exercise is indoors, either in your home or a gym facility.
That's my case too. Smaller amounts of eba and rice, more meat, and more water.

This is true. Try jogging or biking outside in Lagos w/out Danfo or Molue taking you to your grave. I usually do my triathalons (run 5 miles, bike 12 miles and 30 mins) on saturdays and I enjoy the biking part the most. One thing San Diego has is good weather and very fresh air. If you are trying to work on your torso/mid section, and don't like running, try biking. You will see results and I am speaking from personal experience.

As for the diet, just cut down on your "whites" and put more colours on your plates (i.e. Veggies and fruits). And I always tell my female friends that its all about patience and consistency. Rome wasn't built in a day, and people tend to give up when they don't see immediate results. Working out and Dieting should be a lifestyle and not a "project."

@ Jenifa_ - That's why I keep referring to "whites" (carbs and starchs) that we Nigerians/West Africans, love so much.
Health / Re: Why Do Nigerian Girls Hardly Visit The Gym? by Lax75(m): 5:55pm On Oct 11, 2011
@ogugua

This is true. The way we "bathe" our foods in oil when we fry everything is scary. I don't even touch palm oil anymore. I broil my meats and have been doing so for a while. I can also understand why it would be hard to maintain a steady workout schedule especially in lagos, where one might be stuck in traffic for hours after a long day of hardwork. It would kill the motivation to work out after work.

I actually was able to achieve more definition when I cut down on the "whites" (iyan, eBa, rice, bread, yams, etc.) that we love so much.
Health / Re: Why Do Nigerian Girls Hardly Visit The Gym? by Lax75(m): 5:28pm On Oct 11, 2011
ATLgal:

WRONG, .most of our carbs, eba excluded are actually complex carbs and our meals are low in fat compared to other diets, now i do agree palm oil is saturated but it is used in moderation, if you can imagine how many servings are in soup. our problem is in activity. plus the stout like u said, and of course other factors.

I never said that our meals are the problem, I said eating the "heavy" meals AND not working out is the problem we have. These types of foods, if not burned down through heavy physical activity, would lead to the health problems that I stated. And the oils are hardly ever used in moderation. We, especially Yoruba, FRY EVERYTHING. A major cause of heart attacks.

I know a good number of Nigerians who eat eba in the morning, eba in the afternoon and eba at night. For others, it is rice, and too much of it. There is nothing wrong with our foods, we just need to eat them in moderation and also exercise too.

Many Nigerian women focus more on cosmetic beauty than health. So the amount of effort is focused more on the "accessories" such as: make-up, fake hair, fake eyes, nails, etc. I tell my female nigerian friends all the time who want to get in shape (and contrary to many myths, you can still work out and exercise w/out losing your curves), that working out is like the construction of Rome. That is, it wasn't built in a day. Those who say they want to work out, need motivation, need a mentor, etc. often give up when they don't see results, but they forget that it is a gradual process.

Working out is beyond what the eye sees. People forget this. Exercise helps to prevent many diseases that we Africans tend to have a higher probability of getting.

This culture of lack of exercising is not only common amongst the women. Nigerian men also are guilty. Eating "heavy" meals like pounded yam, eba, and other foods stuffed with starch and heavy oil, then simultaneously drinking stouts and not exercising not only gives that "big man belle" that many of our men have, but leads to diseases that shorten our lifespans.

I think another factor that may cause this "culture" is the lack of facilities that are readily available in the developed countries. I usually do weekly triathalons and have become used to it. It became a part of my lifestyle back when I was training to join the army. 3-5 times a week, I go jogging along the pacific ocean. But in Nigeria, especially lagos, it would be difficult to jog out in the open unless you live on the island where you have more private communities.
