can you pinpoint where the military base is ? the US do not need a military base in Ghana . The major US Base in Africa is in Djibouti. Ghana is one the 12 countries in Africa where they have COOPERATIVE SECURITY LOCATIONS. And even if they had a military base in Gh what is the big deal :- JAPAN,SOUTH KOREA and GERMANY are all industrialized and rich nations yet have US Military Bases on their soil 2 Likes 1 Share

Education / Re: Ghana University Reacts To BBC Video: No Evidence Of Sex-for-grades by Legonviking: 6:40pm On Oct 08, 2019 |
The University of Ghana’s attention has been drawn to a BBC documentary entitled 'Sex for Grades Undercover in West African Universities' fully aired in the evening of October 7, 2019. We would like to state unequivocally that the University places great importance on issues of sexual harassment and misconduct, and condemn any of such acts. Given that commitment, the Business and Executive Committee of the University has taken a decision to interdict Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor, the two lecturers featured in the documentary to allow for further investigations into the matter. In line with University regulations, the two will be invited by the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee in the next few days to assist with further investigations into the BBC documentary. While the University of Ghana believes sexual harassment is fundamentally about exploiting power imbalance and voicelessness, we also understand the harmful impact it has on individuals, families and institutions. It is for this reason that the University has taken steps to encourage students and employees to report any form of sexual harassment and misconduct, and has also instituted measures to punish anyone found guilty of the offence. In all instances where the University has been provided with information and/or evidence of sexual harassment or misconduct, our Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee has investigated the matter, interviewed the parties involved, and after making a determination, we have applied the appropriate sanctions as outlined in the policy, including dismissals. The University will prosecute the current matter under investigation, in addition to all outstanding cases before the Committee. We would like to state emphatically that the University of Ghana does not and will not shield any employee or student found to have engaged in sexual harassment or misconduct. No member of the University is considered above the law. The University would like to assure all members of the university community, including students, employees, our stakeholders and the public that it will continue to actively fight against sexual harassment/misconduct, and other acts of indiscipline. Further, to assure members of the university community and the public that the University of Ghana will use the existing structures to handle all matters of sexual harassment and misconduct, while protecting the rights of the victims. Meanwhile, members of the University community are reminded of the provisions of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy, and also encouraged to report any acts of sexual harassment and misconduct accordingly. To facilitate this process, additional communication channels have been created. |
I have watched the full video and I speak on behalf of the two Ghanaian lecturers who never touched the girls. The girls likewise claim they were not their students in the video. They were asked to be in a relationship and they refused and that was it.No grades can even be promised since they claimed they're not in their class. You see in Ghana we're strongly patriotic and we don't wash our dirty linens in public. In the University of Ghana’s ANTI-SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY of 2010 , the colored is what was stated Abuse of Authority. A demand by a person in authority for sexual favors in exchange for work or academic related benefits (for example, a wage increase, promotion, higher grades, a training or scholarship opportunity, etc). In determining whether abuse of authority has occurred, factors to consider include: Whether the harasser had actual supervisory authority over the employee; the alleged harasser demanded sexual favours in exchange for an academic or employment-related benefit. Dr Butokor clearly erred when he asked a prospective Masters student to take him as her Side Guy. Prof Gyampo also asked for hug from the lady who wanted to undertake her internship at the institution. Both men abused their authority when they encountered the ladies and should be punished. Until the 13 member anti sexual harassment committee is constituted and its report published, I would not take what Prof Amoakohene says serious 2 Likes |

samorobo: You have no idea the number of Nigerians in prostitution in Ghana logo Headlines | Oct 15, 2017 Young Nigerian Prostitutes In Ghana...High Commissioner ‘Weeps’ By CitiFMonline Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Olufemi Micheal Abikoye, has met over 500 Nigerian girls who are engaging in commercial sex activities in Kumasi. The meeting forms part of measures to liaise with relevant authorities to find decent jobs for the girls who are mostly trafficked to Ghana to engage in such illegal activities. Efforts are also underway to repatriate girls who have been trafficked to Ghana to engage in commercial sex work. Olufemi Micheal Abikoye is outraged at the increasing number of Nigerian citizens engaging in illicit activities in some parts of Ghana. The High Commissioner cited cyber-crime, prostitution and child trafficking, as some nefarious acts Nigerian nationals living in Ghana were engaging in. He made the remarks at the Ceeta-Kel hotel in Kumasi as part of his tour to meet the Nigerian community in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions, as well as city authorities in both regions. Mr. Abikoye also met police in the Ashanti region after over thirty (30) female Nigerian sex workers and child-traffickers were arrested by the command in a massive swoop. He said it was high time the Nigerian community in Ghana supported the High Commission to work at nipping such negative activities in the bud. He indicated that, the activities of these young girls were denting the image of Nigeria. “Let's face the truth, let's talk to ourselves as Nigerians. Go and see what aged 14, 15 little girls are doing here. I mean, I am a parent and it is something that bothers my heart that can make me cry. How can a 10-year old, a 12-year old girl be engaging in this type thing. I am going there. Is that the place I should be going? Is that what I should do as High Commissioner?” He expressed concern about how teenage girls who have been trafficked from Nigeria to Ghana are engaging in commercial sex work. Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah, told Citi News the meeting discussed ways to send young girls trafficked from Nigeria back home. He said some of the girls the police arrested were sent back to custody after they were screened. COP Yeboah disclosed that police have begun investigations to identify persons behind the trafficking of the young girls. –--- Ghanaian police arrest 41 Nigerian prostitutes Published September 1, 2018 Jesusegun Alagbe with agency report The Weija District Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested 41 Nigerian prostitutes, as well as 14 male clients. According to online Ghanian newspaper, ghanaweb.com, the prostitutes were arrested around a place called Choice, where several pubs operate at night. Chief Inspector Diana Tei Eninful, who led the arrest, said the police had received several reports from residents of the area about the nuisance activities of the prostitutes. The residents also lamented that the prostitutes had turned the vicinity into a haven for drug peddlers and armed robbers. Based on the complaints, Eninful said the the police laid surveillance and subsequently arrested 41 prostitutes, most of whom were between 18 and 25 years. She said the prostitutes sometimes intentionally hoot at and accuse passersby of refusing to pay them after allegedly having enjoyed their coital services, and so pounce on such clients with the help of their gangs of pimps – a situation she said had brought insecurity to the whole neighbourhood. The report added that 14 male clients were arrested alongside the prostitutes by the police for allegedly soliciting. Copyright PUNCH. |

darfay: @bolded is one of the stupid assertions i have come across. Tell me the number of Nigerian students in Ghana public universities like University of Ghana, KNUST,University of Cape Coast,UMAT,UCEW and GIMPA. I bet the number of your students in the above listed institutions would not be more than 3000. The fact that some of you come to some private universities in Ghana to further your education does not mean you are in the majority. What a phucking claim! List one university where Nigerians outnumber Ghanaian students. You guys are funny with chest beating claims .As at September 2017 , there were 53 TV Stations in Ghana, apart from the failing crystal tv, name the so called 'most tv stations nigerians own' Which phucking phone and electric market do you control.Name the supermarkets you claim you own. Tarkwa: Police arrest Nigerian woman for trafficking; rescue 10 girls Source: Ghana| Myjoyonline.com | Naa Sakwaba Akwa | E: faustine.akwa@myjoyonline.com Date: 25-10-2018 Time: 02:10:34:pm Police at Tarkwa in the Western region have arrested a Nigerian woman for allegedly trafficking a number of girls from her country to Ghana to engage in prostitution. Victoria Omotayo promised to offer the young ladies lucrative jobs in Ghana because her company was in need of sales girls. “She approached them and her parents and told them that she is a businesswoman in Ghana with a very big business and they are into sales so she needs about four ladies to help her with sales. “So pursuant to this information, the ladies were given to her to come to Ghana,” Superintendent Kwabena Acheampong told Joy News correspondent Ina-Thalia Quansah. The sales job never happened. The girls were forced into prostitution by Ms Omotayo who further threatened them with death if they ever informed anyone about it Sup. Acheampong said the girls who walked to the police station to report their ‘boss’ at dawn on Thursday after two weeks of being forced into the illegal act. “When they arrived in Ghana their hair, pubic hair, nails, brassieres and panties were taken to put fear in them that if they dare run away from what they came to do, they will be killed so out of fear they also obliged,” the police officer said. Police acted swiftly, followed the girls to their hideout and arrested Victoria and three others. They have so far, rescued 13 girls between the ages of 18 to 26 from the hideout where they were forced to live. The police have also mounted a search for a 16-year-old girl who is reportedly seriously ill following an illegal abortion conducted on her by Victoria. |
