I've got an iced block machine I'm currently using but want to sell off.
It's locally fabricated and is fully functional. The a/c unit's compressor is only what's faulty and 15k only or less will fix that.

It's a 50 block pieces machine with 10 turnings and freezes within 7 hours of constant light supply (generator or NEPA)
It's less than three years old.

We're only disposing it because we can't keep up with the 6am - 7am rush hour which is the prime time & part 1 of the two peak periods of a good sales day.

I thought of something like this, but for the same psycholohical reasons I figured it wasn't necessary but the upvotes and downvote would work better ans they'll push negative stuff down the viewing order and all the useless ads and porn stuff would go down too and would even be easier for mods to filter that way

You just inspired me to add that, if it's possible, Seun & co. should code a Nairaland comments algorithm that will relegate the most disliked comment to the very bottom. This will lead to positive comments on the first pages and that will sure feel like a breath of fresh air from the negative comments flooding in here.

Interesting observation but the dislike button on social media platforms has done more damage than good over the years.

Suicide and depression among young people can be attributed to social media (trolling or disapproved via dislike buttons). And with a platform as Nairaland where there are divergent views, a dislike button might trigger or see a sharp increase in depression, and possibly suicide among Nigerians.

So many social media platforms are either muting the dislike buttons or not showing dislike counts for those reasons.

From a psychological point of view, a dislike button will see Nairaland become a troll farm.

I think you might need to visit the comment section (of a post with lots of comments) on LindaIkeji's blog like I earlier suggested to Seun to see a sample of what I mean.
Whatever psychology is stroked through liking of comments should also be reprimanded by people against the person's point of view/bias through disliking such comment.

Suicide and other stuff you stated as a probable result seem unfathomable to me, especially as these suicide are results of having low likes on attention seeking platforms like Instagram, NOT on forums like Reddit; and also from troll comments on the attention seeking platforms.
Nairaland is a faceless forum with people of different opinions dropping comments, I believe we should be able to express our silent displeasure to our fellow Nairalander through the dislike button.

E.g. People against my point of view on this topic that aren't willing to comment could simply hit a 'Dislike' button and move on.

Also, those of us against tribalism comments could simply hit the dislike button, especially if the comment was subtle and doesn't warrant reporting the comment.

As you may know, Nairaland might be your 'baby' since it's your sweat and hard work, but I (and I suppose a lot of users) as a stakeholder share a similar view about Nairaland being a project I'm part of and whose growth is dependent on my contributions and addition.

The 'Like' button is encoded here for users to express their agreement/likeness of posts or comments which is a commendable addition, however, I suppose it might have skipped your mind that users also need to (silently) express their dislike for posts and comments they don't agree with or that they dislike.

An example is me disliking the recent news about NBC's 5million naira fine to Naija Info FM over the broadcast of an interview of a former CBN director. Asides making a comment, I also want to express my disgust at such news by hitting a 'Dislike' button.
Another is me encountering comments about subtle hate for certain tribes, or opposite gender, religion, etc. I may not be in the mood or right state to call out the poster/commenter in a comment, but still want to express myself to the commenter silently.

I would like you to take a moment to check out the comment section of LindaIkeji's blog, and also YouTube as references to how Nairaland might look like if you implement my suggestion.

I hope you fully understand my point and references. I am looking forward to a reaction from you & your team.

If your family can support you, fine; just know from now onwards, you're raising your child on your own and don't ever expect anything from him, even a phone call, but whatever he offers, collect it as a form of support.

It's not surprising that people like the OP are oblivious to the fact that it takes money to develop visible projects because most southern Nigerian youths lack knowledge of how governance is being ran, other than how it should be ran.

The problem that befell the Buhari administration in 2015 is the same problem with Mákindé's current government - lack of funds.

I really don't expect people like the OP and his supporters to know that there's an unwritten law in Nigerian politics that once you lose an election, you deplete the government's account by disbursing funds to bogus projects.
Why? Because your opponent, the winner of the election will be running helter skelter to provide funds to run his government for the most part of his tenure, thereby positioning him to lose his second term bid since the public will say they can't point to any major project he did during his first term (just like the OP has just done).

If you study Òsun State during the past administration, you will realise Mr Rauf Aregbesola added more petrol to the fire of his state's near bankruptcy because he had to go looking for funds that the administration before him didn't leave in the state's purse.
The current governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola is facing the same challenges.

Nigeria hasn't and mustn't leave the mixed economy we've been practising.
Socialism will make Nigeria look as redundant as Niger and her neighbours to the left because the Nigerian government can't properly and profitably run public enterprises of this country like it is done in Arabia.
Capitalism will lead to outright exploitation as the quality of goods will drop (thanks to low funding of Standard Organisation of Nigeria), and the price of this low quality goods will be high because business men will maximise their profit potentials to the fullest.

I love how Chinese government is supporting their private companies by buying stakes in them though; just like Britain did with British Petroleum and other others.

My advice is for the Nigerian government to privatise our public enterprises, but make them profit oriented and also be the majority shareholder in these companies. They will be properly managed and also be innovative.

My advice is idealistic anyway, but it seems like the best way to go.

The answer is simple, in other continents, they enforce laws, over here, the law enforcers allows you to flout laws if you've got money.

We all know President Bubu isn't an inspirational leader, so Mr. Timi Frank, I suppose, said these to score political points.
However, we shouldn't ignore his points about private institutions (and individuals) partnering with state governments to provide welfare packages to vulnerable citizens.
Also, we should share the little we can afford to the vulnerable people we know in our neighbourhoods.

This write-up was sweet to read. It's like eating margarine and freshly baked bread.
However, Nigeria currently cannot afford a welfare package for it's most vulnerable people, unless private companies and individuals do so instead of the Federal government.
A country that needs to borrow to fund it's yearly budget shouldn't try such.
The best advice is for us (in the affected states) to go out and share whatever relief materials we can afford with people in our neighbourhood.

The OP sure made a good point from the Economist point of view.
It all boils down to fixing our infrastructure to attract more investors and also produce better and cheaper goods. If we are still lagging behind in this aspect, then we are heading the Zimbabwe way.
If wasn't for Nigerians in diaspora remitting about $20bn yearly, the Naira would have been more valueless than it currently is.
Good roads and well electrified industrial areas around the country should be our current priority

Yes I have, I just haven't stayed in one long enough to notice the heat level. I commented based on assumption.
But if it is as you say, I'm in full support of the innovation.

Nigeria has a very warm weather condition, and living in shipping containers will seem like an oven, especially since we don't have stable electricity in most places, neither are air-conditioning systems cheap. Hence why we shouldn't try this innovation.
