Happy birthday to an achieving governor.

What every Nigerian should seek for is a leader who would actually do TANGIBLE work in the sector he/she is elected/appointed in, no matter if they steal a bit. Just develop the country!

As for those having issues with the passport uploads, please kindly crop your picture to show only your face and resize it 600x600 pixels. You can use your phone or PC to do this.

Here is a picture example.
This helped a lot. Thanks !

PoliticsRe: BREAKING: Sanwo-olu Leads Agbaje With An Unassailable 400,000 Votes With 5 Lgs by linkin8k(m): 7:10pm On Mar 10, 2019
I still strongly feel we are manipulated by politicians to continually divide ourselves. These politicians don't care about Igbos in Yoruba dominated areas or Fulanis in Igbo dominated areas, all they want is to get elected into office, and if ethnical divide is the best way to achieve that, they don't care.

Talk about hosts is foolish given we are a Federation, no one can lay claims to any land except the government.

googi:
I have heard this comparison many times.

Look, there is no country more tribalistic than USA. Jews, Irish, Italians, Polish etc, not to mention tribal politics live together in certain neighborhoods all over US.

Note that when they talk about that freedom of movement or "only in the USA", it does not include you, African American, Native Indians and people of color many of those are disproportionately locked up in their correctional system, more so than any other country in the world.

Stop it. Igbo are more accepted in Western Nigeria than anywhere in the world. Igbo mend your bridges and appeal to your hosts. Yes, I mean HOST.
PoliticsRe: BREAKING: Sanwo-olu Leads Agbaje With An Unassailable 400,000 Votes With 5 Lgs by linkin8k(m): 5:23pm On Mar 10, 2019
It breaks my heart the way politicians and certain individuals have turned this Lagos election into a thing of tribe.

Look at someone like Hillary Clinton. Born in Chicago, married to an Arkansas native and yet a won senate seat in New York.

A nation that can not overcome ethnic barriers will never develop. We are Nigerians , but those interested in getting into political office and/or helping their benefactors getting into said offices will stop at nothing to continue dividing us along ethnic lines. We are foolishly blinded to this and go on insulting each other.

One love.

Lol see story. The turbines they claim to have fixed was actually done by TCN and funded by World Bank.

The contract was awarded before the power plant was concessioned to MESL and was completed by the time they got the power plant.

Ever since, they claim to have fixed it.

Deceitful subject. The book starts at 5k for the paper back and 10,500 for the hard back. Why didn't the OP state that it starts at 5k.

It's reasonably priced.

oratorOdunayo1:
TODAY ; everyone on NL should learn this new thing about grey hair. It’s a medical condition called POLIOSIS.

The white hair caused by poliosis is due to a lack of a pigment called melanin in the hair follicles.

The condition is usually associated with the hair of the head. It can affect any hairy area of the body, however, including the eyebrows and eyelashes.

While poliosis itself is not a harmful condition, it is associated with various other medical issues. Some of these are harmful, and some are not.

Thank me later if you can read more about it. Get enlightened
Thanks! I'll read on this.

Consider this proposition, " You are what you eat"

In Nigeria in the 80's 90's and maybe longer we didn't have GM modified foods, we didn't have our vegetables soaked in pesticides, we ate 100% organic.

Our meat wasn't juiced up with hormones and antibiotics.

Check out the levels of pesticide in corn and black eye peas it's scary. Add our predominantly sedentary life styles and it's clear thier is a problem.

What is the impact of all this, I don't know exactly but we see cancers and other ailments that were hitherto very uncommon. Could thier be a connection to premature greying POSSIBLY
This has been my exact thought! The change in our dietary habits might be strongly linked to this early greying epidemic. Our agricultural sector needs to be researched into to give a rough picture of what the impact of all these new ways of producing food is doing to Nigerians.

My theory is that if you have hair that grows rapidly, soon the pigment producing cells die out leaving your facial or scalp hair free of pigment. I have had them as far back as I can remember. My hair dey grow like craze. But suffer still join sha oooo, I no lie. The genetic factor then becomes the different hair growth rate among different people.
Interesting

Serendip:
Here is the answer

Back in the days men used the razor blade.
With the razor blade, the grey hair only comes at the ‘normal time.’

However, with the advent of shaving creams and certain types of powders, men tend to dump the regular use of the shaving stick. Especially the busy/affluent/ rich ones.

The creams and the powders genetically impact the areas where they’re constantly applied, and that leads to the white/grey hairs.

I use razor and I don’t have such problem.
Good observation, however, I have never used shaving cream or powder to shave and still I am greying.

Those days grey hairs and bald head were all evidence of an advancing age group but dis days hardship dey make person old quick... D hardship these days don dey affect every body gene
Those days all U had to do was go to school or learn handiwork or trade.. These days we go to school and have to have multiple streams of income to even make ends meet.
Good point, however, there has been studies to show that stress does NOT lead to greying. What it does is that it could accelerate balding but not greying.

Let's keep this convo going!
HealthRe: Growing Trend Of Young Men With White Beard by linkin8k(m): 6:26am On Nov 17, 2018
This has been on my mind for a long time, thanks for opening this topic @OP.

I think it has to be related with our feeding habits and environment, genes aside. There is need for research on this as the trend is getting alarming.

Please political warriors should stay clear of this discussion, go and fight elsewhere I beg
HealthRe: Please Help! How Do I Get Rid Of This Growth On My Wrist by linkin8k(m): 12:37pm On Oct 28, 2018
OP I had similar on my wrist also, though it was about half the size of yours. It looks like a Ganglion Cyst.

I was advised by a doctor to leave it and monitor it for a while, as it would go on its own but if it didn't I should see a doctor after a couple of months.

Guess what, this topic reminded me of mine and I saw it was significantly reduced on its own (to be honest it's hard to notice now) as mine was small and was prominent when I bent the affected wrist.

Your best bet is to see a doctor (whom is not hungry for surgery lol) and get proper advise, but to me, I would say leave it and monitor it for some months.

Hello everyone!

I plan on visiting soon for a couple of days as part of my annual leave from work. I was granted a visa after appeal.

Please what are the documents I might be asked to present at the border; what should I expect from the immigration officer; and any advice would be appreciated.

zone51:
The 7.5m contract job is a state government job, while the 150k job is a private company job
RED FLAG: State government job!!

If there present administration fails to win the upcoming election in a little over a year from now, you would not get paid fully.

Also, being a government contract, you would most likely have to "sort" some officials along the way to fast track payment.

Asides from the above, if you are willing to take the risk, then go for it. Else stick to the private company job.
PoliticsRe: Rare Footage Of An Industrialised Nigeria In 1960s. This Will Make U Shed Tears. by linkin8k(m): 9:42am On Feb 03, 2018
Deadlytruth:
How really good a person's intention is about an action is judged against the prevailing background circumstances under which he took that action.
The coup and its resultant anarchical situation back then was as a result of the fact that the government at the center (headed by Balewa, Zik and Okotie Eboh) abused powers grossly by disobeying the Privy Council-Supreme Court equivalent, imposing falsified and disputed census figures on the nation, rigging elections in broad daylight, using the police to unlawful silence the opposition, etc.
A military officer who really came to the rescue and sincere about that mission should have found a way to further weaken the centre and strengthened the regions more in order to prevent future abuse of powers by the center by way of illegally interfering with the internal affairs of regions, thus avoiding a repetition of the ugly situation. But Aguiyi Ironsi, with his Unification Decree, took more powers away from the regions and gave them to the center whose abuse of power had just landed the country in anarchy. And you call that good intention?
I think he was just dishonest and after an agenda up his sleeves.
Well, this is an eye opener to me, never knew all this. Thanks for the detailed explanation, always appreciated.
