Reyginus:
Great writers write for all to understand. Back when I started writing Poetry about ten years ago I wrote complex. Words only me or someone like MF DOOM will understand. I loved it.

But it was selfish and the goal–the dissemination of information in a beautiful language–defeated. For some ignorant reasons I thought being complex and difficult to understand is the highest form of Poetry. Most people are trapped in this Asylum.

I kept confusing people(or was it myself) and the thought that my information relay well suppressed my writing further(the effects). Some read my poetry and say I'm mad. Not that I couldn't relay simple but better poems, but then, simple was for simpletons.

And for some stupid reasons I also considered madness at that stage a great feat. Of course it is a great feat. But great doesn't mean good or even positive. Great doesn't mean negative or bad but my kind of poetry was bad and negative.

I started writing for people. Ladies of course. You know when they touch those places and tease you demanding for one. It lacked fluid. The poems made no sense to them. Imagine! If a Love poem doesn't make sense to a Lady who else will it make sense to?

I had to adjust. Today, I can pass the best of ideas and all things that know what ideas look like get it. Thank you, Seun, for springing my diversity. I don't mean this Seun. Gentle touch. Tenderised hands. Soft everywhere. Now you know.

You should try to write for those who know what ideas look like. Except you are writing a diary. And a diary isn't a license to go mad.

I have no qualms with your opinions. It is very valid. Most importantly, it is valid for you. If i were doing rap professionally, i would write for the audience because it would translate into more cash for me. Still a selfish reason.
Now my dear friend, since writing is just a hobby of mine, the only thing that is important to me is why i write. I honestly dislike battling but i found that battling could make a writer more versatile, and hence a better writer. That's the only reason i battled during the short time i did. I write mostly to motivate myself. I'm a complex being and so sometimes my lines may look complex but it just my thought process. What i write at any point in time is directly attributed to my mental state. i however agree with you on scripting to who you are writing for. In fact i encourage it. I write love poems too. So i got you loud and clear there.

When i write such, i want the lady to understand everything i am expressing, but when i'm battling, i don't care about the win or about connecting with the voters. Mostly because most judges are technical enough to comprehend whatever i script.

ELYMAXiimus:
Then, you're a selfish writer. It isn't better to write for yourself without considering the general audience. Where did you see such a laughable quote?

True, when you write, you're your first audience. However, this doesn't mean you shouldn't consider your subsequent audience.

If you're writing for yourself alone, then, the write-ups are probably meant for your personal diary. What you're saying is just like saying it is better for a circus performer to perform for himself, the way he pleases -- even when the audience are dozing off.

Whatever homie. I only care about those who can relate with me. It's okay for me to be selfish with it. I ain't eating off raps or scripts.

You have said well. Be that as it may, I think you also encouraged such ignorant attitude portrayed by rebel in his write-ups: you hyped that coogar's style. I'm actually surprised this is coming from you.
Coogar used unnecessary vocab to delude members and you were part of those who extolled the practice.

If rebel were coogar, I'm sure you would have lauded his efforts regardless of the lickety coherence lacking in his bars as a result of his use of extortionate, rare words. tongue
(Only God knows how thecrook got you guys enchanted).

That said, only maladroit writers don't consider the varying intellect of their audience. Some might understand you, but the majority won't. Unless you're satisfied with satisfying very few of your readers, you should endeavor to carry everyone along.
Fine, you're endowed with a gargantuan amount of words. You should, notwithstanding, consider your readers ability to decipher your writing, and fast. This is easily achieved by using a general language (not simplistic).

The best writers are not those who use rare and sesquipedalian words. No. They are those who are able to relate best with their audience. People will pay you no attention if they feel you're being pompous, which is what verbose grammar, sometimes, insinuates to people.

I hope someone picks one or two things from this.

Shalom.

Not entirely wrong. However, people have different targets and different methods when it comes to how they like to write. I for one, i write how it comes naturally to me. I can't take on someone else's style because i want to connect with the audience. Each writer must decide for himself what he wants. I decided. I write for myself and if anyone can relate to what i write, then i write for them too. That's it. I leave with one of my favorite quotes(Don't know who said this):

"Its better to write for self and have no audience....than to write for an audience and have no self"

This country is just too backwards, value of human lives is close to zero. All the pictures of accidents I have been seeing on NL over the years follows the same pattern, no qualified medical team on the scene to check if the victims are really dead, they are just thrown on the ground with people taking pictures. Many injured victims have died due to this non chalance attitude to human lives.

Go to developed countries and see how accident victims are treated, and to Seun stop posting gory images on your site, this is getting too much. Most reputable publications blot out such images or don't post them at all, NL is now nothing more than a site with gory pictures of dead and dying accident victims this is a disgrace.

Did he post it himself?

Fighting procrastination but i feel like Uriah on the frontlines
Adjusting my clock to see if i can recover the lost time
Stuck in the dark even at lunchtime
My now light skin yearns for another feel of the sunshine
Trying to connect to reality but I feel mentally offline
I target my goals but the mis-hit ball goes to the touchline
Sometimes i feel alone in this world despite the overpopulation
A star feeling out of place in the constellation
Both eyes stopped crying, dried in cooperation
Cos the prize for hardwork's been nothing more than consolation
Face to face with my fears, losing all confrontations
No space for butterflies in my tommy, its full from the constipation
Supposed to reap what i sow but the soil is bad for cultivation
The land's impervious to my sweat and farm implements
Cost of living just went through more increments
Too much on my plate but a bitter taste in my mouth from my lack of ingredients
These agonizing incidents..
makes me relate to the messiah's identity
Crown of thorns placed on my head heavily
Causing me blood, sweat and tears as i try to rule my destiny
The supertitious say there's an entity
Steadily testing me
Teaching me life's worst lessons to bring out the best in me
Optimists claim positivity is the only remedy
In that light, This hell on earth has been nothing but heavenly

Career / Re: How Much And How Do You Save From Work Every Month by liricyst(m): 2:48pm On Mar 04, 2016
queenfav:
While serving, i was able to save abt 10k monthly from my 19800.I plan to save 60 percent of my salary from this month end, when i get paid at my new place of work. Some confuse good money management to bring miserly. Wheras it can be achieved by proper planning and prioritization of ones's needs. Here are some tips that has helped me over the years.
1.Buy foodstuffs in bulk..Its relatively cheaper.I restock on foodstuffs every 3 months. I spend 15-20k on that. Its better than buying 3 maggi 20 naira, when you can get the whole pack with 100 cubes for 250-300.By so doing, you save time spent touring the market, since you have most ingredients at home.
2.Learn to avoid impulse buying..I plan my major purchases like 2 months ahead of time.Dont fall for advertising gimmicks that makes people buy what they really dont need e.g expensive smartphones and other luxury items.Be very sure its something you cant do without before paying for it.
3.Be your own person.Learn to enjoy spending time all by yourself. If you keep very outgoing friends, who club and turn up at expensive lounges, you wont be able to save at all ,as you would have to foot the bill at one time or the other. If you get bored on weekends read books, watch movies or just basically relax at home. There is always sth to do on weekends around the house in terms of cleaning and preparation for the next week.
4.Try to cook your own meals. This is not easy for me now because i just switched jobs and it requires me to work 8-6,Monday through saturday..My work leaves me mentally exhausted that i just want to sleep when i get home.I still try to cook break fast and dinner. For lunch i eat out sometimes,on some days i take food to work when i can. This would reduce your living expenses.
5.Its advisable to move to an apartment close to work to reduce transportation costs.
6.Make family and friends understand that you may not be able to assist them financially at all times, else you would go bankrupt being a father Christmas.
7.Do well to leave your atm at home, very far from where it can be easily reached. Thats to reduce the temptation to withdraw money frequently. What i do is to withdraw say 15k,and it sustains me till month end in terms of Feeding lunch and transportation. If i am not with my atm card,i don't feel pressured to make impulse purchases, because the cash on me would be just a little above what i need to have lunch and pay fare to and from work for that day.
Those are few tips that has helped me develop good saving culture over the years..Occasionally, its nice to give yourself a treat;go to the movies or get yourself a Luxury item you have been craving..You only live once so you have to pamper yourself occasionally. However, it shouldn't put a dent on your savings.

Finally...a comment that i agree with 100 percent.

When you check a King, the Queen moves for the piece so the wordplay is OK
Except the Queen is in no position to move

Cc Liricyst emaprince

Bro..

the wordplay is valid na..
i like it

i only pointed out the assumption made on the chess game itself

when a king is attacked, 3 options
1) the king moves
2) a piece comes to block the line of attack
3) the attacking piece is captured (which must have been under attack when it checked the king)

Now, checking the king while under the line of his queen won't even be done by a rookie. Only reason for that is if you plan to capture the queen.

Too many assumptions made bro

But the wordplay was excellent to me

i dont understand what you mean. But then, incase you are not famillier with whats going on in the battle rap realm, let me put you through...

CHESS is a very young battle rapper who just broke out from being a rookie to slaying top vets. This is why he referred to him as a teen. There was a 2 on 2 battle where chess and steams battled DNA and Kshine. A scuffle broke out and chess pushed DNA. Like i said before, i'm not so much into chess game(but i understood him). I only watch people play it and get a little idea.

I knew this...that's why i commended the wordplay

Its the chess game i made reference to

Check his chess scheme(though i'm not well knowledged in the chess game) where he said something like...

"...on smack you was getting pressed by a teen/
When 'chess' move/ your set proved/ you aint rep for the street/
Cos i thought when 'kings' got checked, the 'queens' went for the piece/"

Remember DNA is from queens..

Well, he made an erroneous assumption about chess but the wordplay is valid
