If Oyetola was a "prudent manager" who cleared half-salaries, why is it on record that Governor Adeleke is the one who has actually spent over 80 billion clearing inherited pension debts and paying two-thirds of the old half-salary arrears? Even prominent political figures from that era have publicly confirmed they are currently receiving their long-overdue arrears under Adeleke. Oyetola sat on those debts for four years while serving as Governor and previously as Aregbesola's Chief of Staff.

More importantly, your macroeconomics argument falls completely flat on two massive points:
On debt reduction, Extra FAAC doesn't force a governor to pay off old loans. Usually, reckless governors use extra revenue to borrow even more. Yet, official DMO records show that Adeleke slashed Osun’s domestic debt by 69.18 billi, bringing it down from 148.37 billi to 79.19 billi. Oyetola left that debt practically untouched.

On the education leap, Money alone does not pass exams. Moving Osun State from 33rd nationally to 7th in the NECO rankings requires active policy shifts, school renovations, and motivating teachers, etc things Oyetola completely ignored.

How can you appraise adeleke as a maverick without actually acknowledging the bigger amount of resources at his disposal compared to oyetola,it would have been foolhardy of him not to be able to clear the salaries and pension arrears considering the far better financial circumstances of the state,otetola didn't have that much resources.

On your second paragraph, I haven't come here to cast adeleke in bad light and it will be grossly unfair to declare he hasn't done well......we are only analysing the socio- political circumstances of tbe state,its not about who is better.

If adeleke had the kind of financial and administrative constraints left behind by the aregesola govt,he perhaps might not have been able to achieve so much in the educational sector.....these are the realities we are bringing to bear.

In fairness to oyetola, he at least stemmed that devious policy of his predecessors in its tide with the little resources at his disposal.......he didn't have that much financial muscle as adeleke has and even adeleke hasn't been able to clear all the backlog of salaries and pension arrears.

I beg to differ,the circumstances oyetola met in 18 is really different from what adeleke met......oyetola is on record to be the most prudent gov osun ever had comparable to baba akande.......when adeleke came in, salary and pension payments were no longer a problem in the state......oyetola's far lesser faac allocation and revenues were used to effectively stabilise the finances of the state,he reversed the half salary payments by aregbe and cleared pension arrears ,there was barely anything left for projects or jamboree.


Adeleke met an already normalised governance structure and very efficient financial management in place,now coupled with the increase faac and igr enabled by the tinubu govt, its easier for adeleke to focus on other aspects of the state.

The economic circumstances oyetola operated under is different from the more robust and better macro adeleke is enjoying now.....the faac and igr figures alone tell the story.......oyetola took over a tanking osun state economy left behind by aregbe with so much huge debt.......it took his entire first 4 years to try to stabilise the states finances and clear the arrears of salaries and pensions.

Tinubu's economic reforms are really benefitting the current govs compared to those under buhari,this is really a vindication.

Osogbo

Osogbo is the most populous town in the state and remains a genuine toss up. Adeleke holds the traditional institution edge, with the Ataoja publicly backing him, and he is also set to benefit from incumbency machinery through SSG Tesleem Igbalaye. Yet some Olomooba princely factions have turned against him over rumours that he would cede part of Osogbo land to Ede, while Basiru's APC network remains well dug in across the town. On balance, the lean favours Adeleke, though only by a thin margin. Given its voting weight, Osogbo is the town most likely to decide the outcome of the entire election. It is imperative to state that Aregbesola's candidate will get significant numbers of votes from Osogbo as he still commands respect amongst the locals owning to infrastructural projects executed while he was the Governor.

Ife

Ife is genuinely unpredictable, and the reason is Omisore. If his loyalists formally swing to Accord as rumoured, Adeleke would likely take Ife comfortably. If Omisore stays nominally APC, Oyebamiji retains a fighting chance even while Omisore himself sulks on the sidelines. The lean is toward a slight Adeleke advantage, but that lean is entirely contingent on which way Omisore's bloc actually votes, making it the single biggest known unknown in the Osun East.

Ede Town

Ede is simply not competitive. Adeleke polled 43,368 votes to Oyetola's 14,607 there in 2022, and Adeleke's dynasty loyalty combined with visible infrastructure spending, the very spending that draws nepotism complaints elsewhere, will lock the whole town down for the incumbent.

Former Speaker, Adejare Bello's APC challenge may chip at the margin, but it will not alter the outcome. Ede's township votes will be won convincingly by the Accord Party.

Ejigbo

The Ejigbo vote will split three ways. Rt. Hon. Najimdeen Folasayo Salaam of the ADC is the hometown boy backed by former Governor Aregbesola, and he will likely win a plurality of the local vote even though he stands little chance of translating that into meaningful numbers statewide. Sen. Mudasiru Hussein's personal grudge against the Adeleke family will pull some APC leaning votes away, while Aare Mojeed Alabi's faction adds noise without adding much lift for APC. The net effect is that this LGA probably dilutes Adeleke's vote share more than it helps Oyebamiji, since Salaam siphons votes from both sides. The real damage to Adeleke here is symbolic, the possible loss of one of the major towns in his Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo will be significant.

You have left out aregbesola's influence in the ilesa axis and that is also large voting block and whoever nicks that place stands a great chance..... aregbesola and fadahunsi then of the pdp gave adeleke that area in 22 but it will be really interesting seeing aregbe and fadahunsi in opposing camps.

We also have the lagos state entertainment park also coming up in same VI and I think its of 12k capacity.

In 2014, incumbent President GEJ lost to Buhari.

In 2023, an incumbent governor Bello Matawalle lost to Daudu Lawal.

In 2015, Ramalan Yero lost to El Rufai.

Ikedi Ohakim lost to Okorocha.
