CelebritiesJesse James Heads To Rehab To Try & 'save His Marriage' by lizfab(op): 4:13pm On Mar 31, 2010
As alleged mistresses continue to come out of the woodwork and Sandra Bullock remains silent and unseen, Jesse James has checked himself into rehab.

A rep for the West Coast Choppers boss released a statement confirming reports that the star had entered a rehab facility to seek help.

"Jesse checked himself into a treatment facility to deal with personal issues," his rep said in a statement to People. "He realized that this time was crucial to help himself, help his family and help save his marriage."

The type of rehab facility James' is in was not disclosed, however, both TMZ and Radar Online reported it was a facility which deals with sex addiction.

A source told People that rehab was "100 percent his own idea."

James' rehab stint comes just two weeks after allegations first emerged that the reality star cheated on his Oscar-winning wife with a tattooed woman named Michelle "Bombshell" McGee.

Several women have also been linked to James since McGee's claims first surfaced in In Touch magazine. McGee claimed she had an 11-month affair with James, including while Bullock was away filming her role in "The Blind Side," the movie Bullock won an Oscar for earlier this month.

Nairaland GeneralMy Wife Cannot Cook- Festus Keyamo by lizfab(op): 7:40pm On Mar 18, 2010
Popular Lagos lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo yesterday told an Ikeja High Court presided over by Justice Elfrada Williams-Dawodu that his wife, Irene cannot cook.

Keyamo who had last year instituted a divorce proceeding against his wife on the ground that their marriage had broken down irreparably told a bewildered court yesterday that his wife is absolutely irresponsible, foul mouthed, ill-tempered and cannot cook.

In the suit, he had also asked the court to separate the six years old wedding which was blessed with two children, but agreed that the wife should take custody of the children.

However, the wife, Irene in her cross-petition accused the husband of being tight fisted, philandering and grossly irresponsible, and prayed the court for a N20 million alimony from Keyamo.
The couple got married on May 15, 2004 in Benin City.

Narrating his ordeal before the court, Keyamo alleged that his wife severally harassed him at home and office, including barring him from his matrimonial home.

He said: “She is absolutely disrespectful, foul-mouthed and ill-tempered. I even had to greet in the morning. Worse still, she can’t even cook. Sometimes I had to make the food myself.”
Keyamo also denied the allegation made by his wife in her cross petition that he abandoned his children and that he was a wife beater. “I never abandoned my children. That is a wicked lie. My wife prevented me from seeing them to spite me. Despite that I continued to send her money for their upkeep. She said I battered her. That is also a blatant lie. I never laid my hands on her”
He recounted an incident when the wife prevented him from entering the house, after he had arrived late, despite repeated knocks at the door.
“I came and knocked at my door but my wife refused to open the door for me. I left in anger and my wife did not bother to look for me until after a month when she had finished the money for the house keep,” he said.

He also accused the wife of wild behaviour, stating an instance when she onced stabbed the four tyres of his Toyota Jeep, after assaulting him in the office.
The wife, Irene in her cross petition, had accused Keyamo of severally physically assaulting her and lacks respect for womanhood.

Keyamo, however, refuted the allegation and assured the court that he would not falter in his fatherly responsibility of taking care of the children.
“I proposed at the critical stage of their life (children), I might not give her the full custody of the children. In the event that she is married, I will get my children from her because I do not want them to grow under the tutelage of another man.”
Keyamo continues his testimony on 21 April, 2010.

Celebrities'My Romance With Dbanj Is A Private Affair' - Genevieve Nnaji by lizfab(op): 2:38pm On Mar 16, 2010
Genevieve Nnaji "I can only say that I would like to keep my private life private and I really don't have anything to say"

But if one part of a couple reveals that he is going out with someone as high profile as yourself, it makes the story credible if you can actually confirm this,
Genevieve "Dbanj is an adult and he has said something. Let's just leave it at that, "

But can you clarify the whole thing by simply conforming or denying it?
Genevieve "I don't want to talk about my private life. I don't do it. I am well aware that people will say things. People have been calling me to find things out, but I am not going to say anything. I have learnt over the years that no matter what I say, people will say and believe what they like, you can not please everybody. This is my own way of handling things. I just don't talk about my private life. It's the one thing I can control"

But is it real or a publicity stunt? Is Dbanj lying?
Genevieve "Does he lie?"

By that are you inferring that he wasn't telling a lie and what he said is true.
Genevieve "I am not inferring or insinuating anything. One person has said something and that really is enough. I am not saying I will never talk about it, but for now I do not wish to say anything about the matter."

Nairaland GeneralWonder Twins, Head For High School At Nine And They Are Nigerians: by lizfab(op): 4:29pm On Mar 03, 2010
Paula and Peter Imafidon

Nine-year-old twins are expected to become the youngest pupils to be admitted to a secondary school.

Paula and Peter Imafidon have already broken world records when they passed A/AS-level mathematics papers at the age of 7. Today, the twins will join hundreds of thousands of other families across the country to find out which secondary school they are going to, despite being two years younger than most of their counterparts.

Peter and Paula, from Waltham Forest, northeast London, attend a normal State primary school but have received provisional offers from more than 12 leading secondary schools.

The so-called “wonder twins”, who come from a family of high achievers, set two world records when they passed A/AS-level maths papers. They became the youngest candidates to pass A-level maths and were also the youngest school pupils to do so, as the previous record holders had been taught at home.

A year later they took and passed the University of Cambridge’s Advanced Mathematics (FAM) paper, becoming the youngest students to pass the rigorous examinations.

Chris Imafidon, their father, said that the twins would cope well with secondary school despite their age. “We’re delighted with the progress they have made,” he said. “Because they are twins they are always able to help and support each other.”
Peter and Paula’s sister Samantha, 12, passed her maths and statistics GSCEs at the age of 6, as did the twins. Their eldest sister, Anne-Marie, 20, holds the world record for being the youngest girl to pass A-level computing, at 13. She received a government scholarship to study at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Another sister, Christiana, 17, was the youngest schoolgirl to study at undergraduate level in any British university, at the age of 11.

Mr Imafidon said that all of the children had taken part in the Excellence in Education programme, which helps disadvantaged families, and their achievements were due to being nurtured rather than natural "genius".

“Every child is a genius. Once you identify the talent of a child and put them in the environment that will nurture that talent then the sky is the limit," he said.
Peter has ambitions to become Prime Minister while his sister wants to be a maths teacher. Mr Imafidon said he was confident that they would achieve their goals.

CelebritiesTiger Woods Finally Speaks: 'I Am Deeply Sorry' by lizfab(op): 7:48pm On Feb 19, 2010
On the 84th day, Tiger Woods finally spoke. He let the world know that he is sorry for what happened, that he will continue to get help for his addiction and that he will not be playing golf anytime soon.

Tiger gave us what appeared to be a previously outlined statement from his PR team, finishing with a plea for people to "believe in me again." His first message was that of sorrow, but the 14-minute statement turned heated when Tiger spoke of rumors that his wife Elin had chased and/or hit him with a golf club:

"There is one issue I really want to discuss. Some people have speculated that Elin somehow hurt or attacked me on Thanksgiving night. It angers me that people would fabricate a story like that. Elin never hit me that night or any other night. There has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage. Ever."

Tiger's mom, Tim Finchem and fellow PGA Tour player and former Stanford teammate Notah Begay III were in attendance, but Elin was not. That didn't stop Tiger from speaking about her most of the time.

Tiger admitted that he is the only one to blame, admitting, "I was unfaithful." He also apologized to his family, friends and fans, and said he thought he played by different rules because of money and fame, but agrees that those "actions were wrong."

Tiger admitted "he has a long way to go," but he is taking steps in the right direction, and said that no matter what people want to know about his marriage, it is going to stay within the family. "Please leave my wife and kids alone," Tiger stated.

As for golf, Tiger said that he will return to golf one day, he just doesn't know when that day will be. He also didn't rule out returning in 2010, but no date was promised.

All in all it was the statement we expected -- preempted, selective and, in typical Tiger fashion, guarded. Nobody will ever know if Tiger has changed, but it sure sounds like he meant it.

CelebritiesKingsley Of Kc Presh Speaks Of His Engagement by lizfab(op): 2:56pm On Feb 18, 2010
"The ring I gave my fiancee is pure diamond (supposedly worth $20, 000). The date has not been fixed for the wedding yet but we have done our introduction. We did that in my fiancee's father's Okota home in Lagos this January. The engagement was in Dubai, the choice was Dubai because I wanted to surprise her. I told her we were going to Dubai on holiday and we stayed at the tallest hotel in the world, the popular 7 star hotel in Dubai, Burj Al Arab Hotel. The hotel room rates starts from $1, 767. 66. I hired a parachute for just the two of us and when we were about 40, 000 feet above sea level, I brought out the ring and asked her to marry me. She said yes. The time we spent in the parachute was a memorable one. When we returned to Nigeria, I bought her a car - a Honda Ridgeline - she deserves it. My wife-to-be is beautiful but above that she's beautiful on the inside. She is brillant, intelligent, generous, and an understanding woman. She's so much fun to be with. Her name is Ijeoma Oduah and she's from Ogbaru LGA Anambra State and she's still a student studying mass communication. I love my woman and I am going to have a loud and classy wedding very soon." ~ Kingsley Okonkwo of KC-Presh

CelebritiesCaptain Ekeinde's (omotola's Husband)interview by lizfab(op): 5:47pm On Feb 16, 2010
Captain Matthew Ekeinde has been married to star actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde for almost fourteen years. He spoke to Sunday Sun about their marriage,
Except -

How long have you been together?
This year marks our 14th year.

How have you been coping for 14 years with a celebrity?
First of all, I think it is God , because a few people have asked me that question and I have searched over the years and I’ve come to know that if she was not my God- given partner, I can guarantee you that we wouldn’t still be together today and that is the problem with a lot of married couples especially the pilot and the entertainer. If you want to compare those marriages that are not God approved, you’ll see that they don’t last a year talk less of 14 years. So, if I’m opportune to preach to singles, I will tell them to wait for their God-given partner because if they don’t wait, they’ll always fall apart. She (Omotola) is my God -given partner and that is why we both can tolerate each other and be patient with one another.

Some people say to build a working marriage, you should play the fool or you need to be a fool. Sometimes, do you play the fool?
No, because I think we are open and honest with one another. I get the feeling that my wife travels much more than I do and I’ve never had to fear whether she is cheating on me or something. I trust her with the whole of my heart, 100%. So, I don’t play the fool, there is no need for it. I believe I am straight forward with her and I believe she’s straight forward with me.

Can you tell us about your love story so far?
Our love story so far has been great though it’s been quite challenging. Challenges especially from the press about things they write about her but like the bible says, those who know their God shall never be shaken like Mount Zion. So, for me, I know my wife and my wife knows me and like I said earlier, I trust her with everything I am. When these issues come up, we talk about it and we move on. Our love story so far has been good and I know a lot of people look up to us. So even when we don’t have any other reasons, we’ll stay together because of the people that look up to us.

How did you meet her and how did the loving start?
I met her in church. My immediate elder sister introduced us because I was ready to get married. Then my sister said, there is this cute girl in my church, although, she is a bit young. Tola, was just sixteen (16) and I was twenty-six (26). So, she invited me to their Wednesday service. I got there from work around 7:30pm when the service was up and I met her there. We were friends until she turned eighteen (18), but I have always liked her but I wasn’t really interested because of her age. When she turned eighteen, I saw her from another perspective and that was when I told her I was going to marry her. At first, she thought I was joking, so I went behind her back and told her mom because during our two years of friendship, I have known her mom very well.

So, you went to church looking for a wife?
(Laughs) No. I didn’t go to church to hunt for a wife, I went to church to meet Tola because my sister wanted to introduce her to me. So, I didn’t go to church hunting for a wife, rather, I went to church to meet Tola. To me, hunting for a wife means, to scan all the women in the church and finally pick one. I didn’t do that, I was only there to meet her.

Why did you decide to get married in the air?
Oh, excellent; that was my idea. I told her and she complied. We’ve always wanted to do something different and in the uncommon way. If you’ll remember, I was the first to start using a personalized plate number and she was the first in the industry when I bought her a brand new car .The number plate was ‘OMOTOLA1’. A few months after I bought her the car , Saint Obi bought the same car and used ‘SAINT’ as his plate number. I like to do my things in a unique way; I mean, everybody goes to church to get married, let’s do ours differently. Luckily for me, I was able to convince the MD of the Israeli airline (Sky Line) that I was working for then and I told him that it would be a marketing medium for airlines because I know newspapers and television will cover it. So, we got married because we wanted to do something different.

There is this tendency for one to be married and the love fades, when you get to that stage, what do you do to renew your love?
The good thing about it is that it is God’s doing. Don’t forget that it is not your doing that makes a marriage work. You do 10% and God does the rest because if you are married to your God-given partner, there’s nothing that can break you two up, nothing. Not only that, you need to be strong in the Lord as well. There are a lot of people that have gotten their God-given partner but they have allowed the devil to come in to scatter it. So, spiritually, it is God that is renewing it. Of course, there are times I don’t feel like I am 100 percent in love, but it happens once in a blue moon and for just few minutes. I mean there are times I see her maybe after taking her bath and I still get turned on and she’ll say ‘oh boy, you no dey tire? After fourteen years your blood is still pumping’ (Laughs). For me, I am not tired at all and the good thing is that she keeps her figure and that was why I gave her the nickname because the first car I bought her was ‘OMOTOLA1’, the second was ‘OMOT’ and third one, which is the Jeep, is ‘OMOSEXY’ because she has got this sexy figure that is a turn-on for me.

Has sex actually become boring for you and your wife?
If I tell you this you may not believe but God is my witness, 14 years on sex with my wife is not boring, you can understand why I could dig deep to give her that name omosexy. When you find something sexy can you be tired of it? You see the same appetite a man has to look for different women because they are bored with one, is the same appetite I use in looking at her all the time . That is why I gave her that name and like I said she has managed to keep her figure even after four children …she is looking more gorgeous. That is the truth my brother.

Has money been an issue before because your wife once said that romance without finance is not sweet, what’s your take?
Well, she can say that now because I am there buying her all the cars. (Laughs) If I didn’t have the money to buy her a thing, I don’t know what would have happened; but then, she’s a well brought up child; there is no woman that doesn’t like to be pampered, there is no woman that doesn’t like money, there is no woman that wants to suffer; but I thank God that we are both independent. In fact, it is one of those things we’ve never argued about from day one. Sometimes, when we talk about it, I call her attention and say, ‘OMOT’; you know we have never argued about money? The reason is simple, my salary and my allowances as a captain is paid into an account that she has access to and her money is also paid into that account. So, what we do is that, whatever project we have, either to build a house or buy a car, travel abroad and stuffs like that, we’ll put it in our monthly budget and if the money we have in the bank is not enough to cover to budget, we sit down and sort out things we can eliminate or carry over till next month. So, we do it together and that is one reason why we have never quarrelled over money matter. We are open to each other, we know how much we have and then we do things together and that is where some people have problem.

Do you maintain a joint account?
Yes. All our joint accounts and current accounts, our shares, our house, our cars bear our names, Matthew and Omotola Ekehinde.Yes because we have learnt and by God’s grace, we watch T.V. programmes and we hear what’s happening. It has been in my upbringing because if you are open from day one, there is nothing that can bring you back.

Do you foresee anything breaking your marriage?
Only God can and I am sure He won’t because the Bible says “what the Lord has joined together, no man should put asunder” I trust my wife to the extent that, even if she’s in bed with a man, naked, nothing can happen. (Chuckles)

What is your advice for married couples?
Well, the first advice I have for them is that, they should stick to the Lord; they should continue to have the fear of God in them. God will show you how to treat your spouse, how you guys can live in harmony, how you can raise your kids, how to relate with your relatives. So, the first thing any person that wants to get married should do, is to seek the face of God because marriage is a life-long thing. So if they can observe a three- day fasting and prayer session and have their Pastors pray with them they will succeed. Once they can pray and God gives them the go-ahead they should proceed. Also, they both need to be disciplined because the devil is always at work, they must learn to resist temptation.

Nairaland GeneralAdenuga Set To Offer Equitorial Trust Bank For Sale by lizfab(op): 6:24pm On Feb 15, 2010
Billionaire business mogul may have decided to exit banking business apparently after his sour encounter with Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, who has ordered him to dilute his holdings. AYO OLESIN reports.

Billionaire business mogul, Otunba Mike Adenuga Jr, may have offered to sell his stake in Equitorial Trust Bank and already two banks have shown interest, authoritative industry sources have disclosed to our correspondent.

Adenuga, who owns controlling stake in the Second National Operator, Globacom, and petroleum marketing company, Conoil and its upstream sister firm, Conoil Producing, is believed to have lost interest in banking business following the takeover of the bank‘s management by the Central Bank of Nigeria on October 2, 2009, on grounds of insufficient capital, according to sources close to the discussions.

Governor of the CBN, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, who replaced the bank‘s executive management team along with those of Bank PHB and Spring Bank after the second round of stress tests on banking sector operators, had also removed Adenuga from the board.

The business mogul was however reinstated a few weeks later after he met with Sanusi and agreed to pump in over N30bn to recapitalise the bank and correct other lapses in its management. He also executed a Deed of Covenant to that effect.

Sanusi‘s decision to review the action was reportedly based on the non-discovery of evidence of insider abuse or money laundering or other criminal activity during the special audit of the bank unlike the situation in other troubled banks.

ETB, which had merged with its sister firm, Devcom Bank, in the 2005 consolidation round in the banking sector, is the only universal bank not listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange.

In restoring Adenuga to the board, the CBN had also tacitly asked him to reduce his holdings in the bank by floating its shares on the Nigeria Stock Exchange among other options.

This, according to the CBN, will allow for better corporate governance and was in line with the policy of not allowing ”sole proprietorships” of banks.

According to the terms of the Deed of Covenant, the shareholders of ETB are to recapitalise the bank by way of injection of additional capital latest by June 30, 2010; restructure, diversify and enlarge the capital base of the bank either by way of a public offering of shares, securing a core investor or merger with a local bank within a year period; and address the corporate governance issues in the bank.

The shareholders are also obliged to reconstitute the board of directors of the bank specifically by retiring two non-executive directors and appointing four new non-executive directors, subject to the approval of the CBN.

At least 20 people were killed in Port Harcourt on Saturday when a cable fell onto a bus and electrocuted people inside, the police said.
The police confirmed 20 deaths, but a spokeswoman, Rita Abbey, said the toll could climb higher.

Most of the dead had been passengers on the bus, though some had been passing nearby when the cable came tumbling down during heavy rains that have pummeled southern Nigeria.

The police could not say how many had been on the bus.

CelebritiesWhy I Didn't Attend The Grammy Awards - Femi Kuti by lizfab(op): 5:13pm On Feb 11, 2010
"Everybody was worried why I didn't go. I said I would not travel because it's not my thing. After the Kora Awards, I didn't like the feelings I got. I nearly suffered high blood pressure. 'And the winner is, ' Everybody was apprehensive. And when they pronounced me the winner of West Africa, and they wanted to do the overall, I refused to come out. I didn't go into music because of that; not to go and sit in one hall and be pronounced a winner or not. I didn't want that. I know how I started, I was playing for three people who were my friends. They used to laugh at me. I would play for five hours until I got a break in France, Switzerland and Germany, then I moved all over. I was in Spain, Italy and I conquered Europe and I then I entered America. It took me nearly ten years before I entered America. To be nominated, is it a small thing? Do you know how many artists we have in this world? Already I have drank champagne over it. I'm not disappointed one bit about not winning. The reason I did not win are technical reasons. It's not by the sale of the album. There are judges and they must have their reasons for picking whoever they picked. I was even shocked to have been nominated again, because the first time I went to the awards during my first nomination, I walked out in annoyance. First I thought we were going to be televised, but it wasn't. They only televised the Madonna's, the Jay Z's and the Beyonce's of this world. I was 41 then and everybody by my side was apprehensive to win and I could not stand it. I was upset. When I arrived at the red carpet, nobody came for me, my record company didn't come, I felt stupid and so I knew I could not win. I sacked my manager, a French man, and they sacked me too. The journey back home was very long. I felt sad. Since then I vowed never to attend the Grammy Awards again. My father never went for any awards, and where they presented him an award, he didn't go personally and when they brought the award to him, he would send them back with the award. One day, I was at the World Music Awards and I brought the awards, he said did I send you? You better take it back. As I grew older, I understood what he was saying then." ~ Femi Kuti

PoliticsUnemployment, Reason For Crises In Nigeria - Minister by lizfab(op): 6:59pm On Feb 09, 2010
THE Minister of Labour and Productivity, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, has said major crises being witnessed all over the country are traceable to unemployment.

Prince Kayode said if the people were engaged and employed, it would be difficult for them to cause crisis in the country.

He, however, promised that efforts were ongoing to ensure that jobs were created for the majority of Nigerians so as to put an end to such crises.

The minister stated this in Abuja, during a reception for the 47-man delegation of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) who travelled to Turkey on a study tour.
The minister, who said this year was year of employment, added that “the duty of every government is to put its people to work.

“When a government creates opportunity for the people to be employed, then it is really responsible for the welfare of the people and this is the mandate of government.”

Kayode then challenged the Federal Government and the National Assembly to ensure that 2010 was a budget of employment and empowerment of the people.
