Ayekotoo:Yes that is a Hausa cap, but that is just fashion! Does wearing English dress make you English? Great civilizations like the Japanese and the Chinese wear English clothes and that doesn't stop them from being what they are! There are South Westerns who were that cap too, so would you say they are Fulani too? |
Ayekotoo:Have ever been to Kwara to come to this conclusion? Maybe they love their religion, but how many of them have you found to be fighting a jihad? |
kehinde1588:Actually, Gambari is a Yoruba word. It is a corrupted borrowed word from the Hausa word Kyamberi (oro ayalo aifojuri). Same with names like Saraki and co. |
agulion:Because those that divided Nigeria knew nothing about the people, so they just did things as they liked. The same way they divided many Africa into countries. Imagine attaching Edo and Delta with the old Western region and neglecting Kwara and parts of Kogi. |

Every time you blame Yoruba for this and that. When are you ever going to own up to anything? Igbo dispersion in Nigeria is not as a result of loving Nigeria's unity more than other Nigerians, but for pure economical reasons! Can amagiri also claim their migration to the south means they are the champions of one Nigeria. Or Igbo migration to other countries means they are doing so because of the unity of the world. Even if I accept you argument that you the face of the country's unity, how come you are also at the forefront of dissolving the country without considering the implications for the over 200 tribes that make up Nigeria? |
Justiceleague1:Please, attempt to answer some the questions the op asked? |
Chikpat:How was he ungrateful? What did you do for him that he didn't return in kind? The man did right by Igbos and you don't have the right to play victim yet again. |
GreatChizzy:Did you notice that no one that commented above you tried to answer any of the questions? The questions the op asked are very valid, regardless of the real author of the questions. Weldone, sir. |
SpecialAdviser:WHO said Covid19 might be here to stay. Are going to keep being obsessive about it? Our lives has we now know it has to move on. I wish the Prof Gambari the best in his job. |
Azmanaty: mrvitalis: Ogonimilitant:https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/05/police-seize-10-ipob-members-recover-13-ak-47-rifles/ The SE has to be careful -- you might just be grooming terrorists! Read about the RIRA (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Irish_Republican_Army), though they call them a "paramilitary" group. |
EVILFOREST: At least, they are still doing something. |
EzeNdiAra:Actually, I read that it fell into the Atlantic Ocean — off the coast of Africa and just missed hitting New York City. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-8316795/Massive-chunk-Chinas-failed-rocket-fell-Earth-missed-hitting-New-York-City-MINUTES.html |
The body of a spent Chinese rocket became the largest piece of space junk in decades to fall, uncontrolled, back towards Earth on Monday. On May 5, a Long March 5B rocket launched a prototype crew capsule resembling a SpaceX Crew Dragon to orbit for a test. After almost a week orbiting the Earth, the core stage of the large rocket re-entered our atmosphere. It appears that whatever bits didn’t completely burn up might have made it to the surface, likely splashing down into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa, according to the US military. “It is the most massive object to make an uncontrolled reentry since the 39-tonne Salyut-7 in 1991,” wrote Jonathan McDowell, a prominent Harvard astrophysicist who tracks objects in orbit, on Twitter. The military, the private Aerospace Corporation and others were tracking the 37,000 pound rocket as its orbit began to decay days ago toward an inevitable blaze of glory. The rocket body was more massive than the Chinese Tiangong-1 space station that plummeted back to Earth (presumably landing somewhere in the ocean) in 2018. It’s about a fifth the mass of Skylab, which came back to Earth near Perth, Australia in 1979. Most of the rocket was expected to burn up, but small pieces could have made it to the surface. Rocket re-entries are notoriously difficult to predict, as the object is moving at thousands of miles per hour. When it breaks up, debris that makes it to the ground can be spread over hundreds or thousands of miles. So far there have been no eyewitness reports of the rocket breaking up in the sky or of debris on the ground. Often, larger space vehicles are equipped with means to steer the craft to re-enter over a safe location (typically the south Pacific), but that doesn’t seem to have been the case with this rocket. The spent rocket, which was labeled CZ-5B by the agencies tracking it, orbited within about 41 degrees north and south attitude. That means any bits that made it to the surface landed somewhere in that range, which includes New York in the north, Australia in the south and everything in between. The updated information from the military makes it likely most of the rocket burned up or wound up in the ocean. We will see if any debris turns up onshore in West Africa. The blue and yellow lines show the rocket's paths above the planet. THE AEROSPACE CORPORATION The good news is that there’s almost no reports through history of space junk injuring or killing people, as it typically falls in the ocean or remote areas, which make up much of Earth’s surface. However, it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the sky. https://www.forbes.com/sites/ericmack/2020/05/11/a-chinese-rocket-is-out-of-control-and-falling-towards-earth-right-now/

knowledgeable:Did you read the OP at all? No one is forming any nation with anybody! Nigeria's unity is what the article is questioning. How would Yoruba form a nation with Igbo when there are far better and richer options in a split Nigeria. Nonsense! |
Those who claim the south-south can not defend themselves should take note. |
Paul Osuyi, Asaba A Fulani settlement in Obodogba community of Okpanam town, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State has been razed by irate youths from the town. The razing of the settlement, Daily Sun learnt, was in retaliation to the killing of two persons including the leader of Okpanam local vigilance group by gunmen. The vigilante members had stormed the bush in search of a woman and her daughter who were kidnapped from their home in Okpanam, when they were ambushed by gunmen who opened fire killing two and injuring another in the process. Peeved the killing, youths of the town who accused Fulani herdsmen for incessant attacks, killings and kidnappings, mobilised and stormed the camp of the herdsmen to raze the small huts, killed one cow and destroyed other property. The irate mob was said to have stormed the settlement when Fulani men were in the field tending their cows. They met defenceless women, some of whom alleged that they were abused after their children ran into the bush for safety. Leader of the Fulani settlement, Abubakar Haruna alleged that the irate mob also carted away their money from their homes before setting the structures ablaze. Haruna said none of their members has ever be involved in any crime, adding that they properly negotiated with Okpanam community before the land, which is located in the interior, was released to them for an undisclosed amount. He appealed to the state government to come to their aid, lamenting that they have been exposed to insecurity and the elements of weather. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/irate-youths-raze-fulani-settlement-over-killing-of-delta-vigilante-leader/ |
gidgiddy:Okay. Start the process from your side. I wish you the best. |
gidgiddy:Yes we are, and how would the breakup of the country going to solve that problem? Are other countries in Africa with a smaller population rich? Do you behead yourself because you have headache? Our problem as a people is that we are unproductive! We don't produce what we need, and import what we don't need. Let's all chase productivity and enlarge the country, if it is possible. |
rationalhuman:Yes these civilisations were great before, but that didn't stop the Western Europeans from colonizing them both. My point is that, your greatness might be another person's starting pointing. Europeans did not rise by breaking up their empires, rather they expanded them! While the east were stagnate and depreciating, the west were only interested in growing. They formed bigger cities and empires and got involved in more trades with other people of the world! And how did the east bounce back? Did they breakup their country into miserable chunks? We stand to benefit lesser from the break up the country. Let's us all chase productive! Like every civilization that ever rose in this world. |
Difrent:Yes, you are right. |
gidgiddy:What did these 101 countries get in return? Many of them have become aids recipients from the EU. That is one of the reasons the UK had to exclude themselves from EU. The UK were tired spoon-feeding many of them. So, what would be our gain if the country breaks up? Are we breaking up the country to be poorer? I hope AU would be nicer to the new countries that emerge from Nigeria, than they are to South Sudan. Not forgetting, the "bad belle" conflicts that would result from the breakup (old Oyo empire and Russia-Ukraine are a very good examples.) Don't forget that these conflicts would also compound our poverty o! So I ask you again, what do we have to benefit from a breakup? |
https://sunnewsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/images-2020-05-01T204342.194.jpeg Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja The World Health Organisation (WHO) has disclosed Nigeria has indicated interest to be part of the solidarity trial of vaccine for coronavirus (COVID-19) and that efforts are underway to start the process in the country. The WHO Country Representative in Nigeria, Dr Fiona Braka made this disclosure at the daily briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 of which she is a member. According to her, there are rigorous processes involved in approving a vaccine for any disease adding that 89 vaccines are currently in development globally. Braka said: “on the subject of vaccines and clinical trials for COVID-19, I will like to say that research and development is an important aspect of the response and researchers around the world are working hard on accelerating the development of vaccines and therapeutics for Covid-19. “WHO has launched various working groups to accelerate various aspects of vaccine development. “Together with global health actors and partners, over the past week, WHO launched the Access to Covid-19 Tools ACT Accelerator, a global collaboration to accelerate development for equitable access to new Covid-19 diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines. “We have a total of 89 vaccines that are in development globally, including seven in clinical evaluation and several therapeutics are in clinical trials. “WHO is committed to ensuring that as medicines and vaccines are developed, they are shared equitably with all countries and people. “We do have the solidarity trial which is an international clinical trial to help find an effective treatment for Covid-19, launched by the WHO and partners. “More than 100 countries have joined the solidarity trial and to date, over 1, 200 patients have been randomized from the first five countries to evaluate the safety and efficacy of full drug and drug combinations. “Nigeria has also expressed interest to be part of this solidarity trial and efforts are underway to start the process in Nigeria”, she added. Meanwhile the Director General of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has urged citizens to learn to live with the COVID-19 until there is a vaccine to halt its spread. He said “we really encourage all Nigerians, because we are at the beginning of a journey and the most likely scenario is that until we have a vaccine, we would have to learn to live with COVID-19 in our country. “We have to tell ourselves the truth about this and encourage one another because there is no point doing that. All of us here are just as vulnerable as catching the virus as are many other people. We will do our best, but we will always have to remember that it is a virus, you cannot build a wall and anything can still happen in spite of our best efforts”, he added. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/covid-19-who-to-commence-vaccine-trials-in-nigeria/amp/ |
gidgiddy:You are the one who have not found unity in the country. There are so many rainbow families in the country. Husband is Yoruba, wife is Igbo and father in-law is Hausa. What kind of family is that, if not united one. Not forgetting mixed religions too. Outside the shores of this country, so many people enjoy benefits that other Africa countries would only dream of, because they are from the most populous country in Africa. Break the country into miserable parts and see this benefits vanish into thin air. Many of you shouting Nigeria must break are only breading worse poverty for our children! And I hope you don't succeed. |
Difrent:They have a right to react to the losses. Our president should have accommodated them in his government, but the man is too myopic. He keeps running a country of 200 million people like his nuclear family. But some Yoruba groups too have joined the bandwagon of those that want their country. |
DontCough:I get your point bro. |
gidgiddy:Where are you from and I would convince you that Nigeria is best for your people? For your information, China and India used to be the poverty capital of the world, but where are they today? |
DontCough:Buhari is the problem. That man is not intelligent at all! Imagine people talking about 2023 election when we just in 2020, and others talking and making moves for the dissolution of the country. |
But Atiku would still get the PDP ticket ahead of him. If I were Tinubu and the APC, I would hijack the man into APC and pair him with a Muslim from the middle belt. TKO! |
AiteeAitee:Nice dp. Can I pm you? |
okpalaAnambra:Peace would not be achieved like this! The fact is that no one is actually anything. |
By Ajiri Daniels https://sunnewsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gunmen-2-750x563.jpg The age-long communal war over a piece of land between Allah/Onugwa and Odekpe communities in Anambra West council area of Anambra State took another dimension on Thursday as the Divisional Police Officer [DPO] in charge of the council area and two of his men were reportedly abducted by suspected warlords at Odekpe community. The DPO had led a team of police officers to the two warring communities to restore peace following the renewed hostilities that claimed seven lives from both communities. While Allah/Onugwa people said that four persons were killed on their side with 150 buildings destroyed, Odekpe claimed that three of their members were killed and three buildings touched. A resident of Allah/Onugwa, Uzor David, told Daily Sun that the DPO first led his team to his community and after assessing the level of carnage in the community, also proceeded to Odekpe to also carryout similar assessment. He said that stakeholders from the area including the representative of Anambra East and West in the National Assembly, Chinedu Obidigwe; the Commissioner for Lands, Bonaventure Enemali; and a traditional ruler from the area, Igwe Pius Omachonu, had met and resolved that the police should embark on a fact-finding mission to the areas. “After they deliberated on many issues yesterday, they resolved that mobile policemen should be sent to go and view the area and bring information back to them. “Those mobile policemen that came were many. They passed through Allah/Onugwa, they saw what happened. They proceeded to Odekpe. Our place is not that motorable. When they got to Inoma community, they stopped. “They packed their vehicles and picked motorcycles. They passed through our place and on getting to Odekpe; when the people sighted them, knowing that they are mobile policemen, they started shooting at them. “The policemen had no option than to fire back. Two people fell down from Odekpe side based on the information we got. They captured three policemen now. The DPO representing all of us is in their custody. “As I am talking to you now, he is unconscious. Somebody called me to tell me that the DPO may not survive it. The other two mobile policemen are still in their custody. They are dealing with them”, he narrated. Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, a Superintendent of Police, proved abortive as he did not pick calls to his phone. He had, about two days ago, confirmed that there were clashes between the two communities. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/tension-as-warlords-abduct-dpo-two-other-policemen-in-anambra/amp/ |
