Hi,

Have you prayed about this meeting yet? The outcome might not be unconnected with your dreams as per ... having to manage scrap when you could have had a glassful ... and also your boss speaking a different language from you.

In your meeting try to be understanding without being condescending and keep a prayer line open in your mind while you have the talk ... that way you don't speak of your own accord but as the Spirit gives utterance. This presupposes that you are connected to God.

). If you receive the degree certificate and the final transcript of records during the application period, it is recommended that you submit them as well. You should point out the anticipated graduation date on the application and submit the documents you have at the time of applying. Do not wait to receive your final diploma or degree certificate if it is not available during the application period

All the best!
EducationInternational Postgraduate Scholarships!!! by lobell(op):
I will be providing details and links to several International Postgraduate Scholarships for which Nigerians are eligible to apply as I find them.
I will also be providing guidance to help you apply properly and stand out to increase your chances of being selected within the ambit of time.
You will need to follow my moniker to keep abreast of these opportunities as I will be creating a new thread for each of these opportunities.
Young academics and people already engaged in an organisation will have preference as these scholarship are mainly targeted at people already in academics and people who work with NGO's and research institutes.
Please bear in mind that some of these opportunities will have a very tight time frame for application and as such you should have some documents and statements at the ready for easy completion of applications.

GOD bless your hustle!

To start with you should have

1. Clean photocopies and scanned copies of your transcripts (needless to say at this point that you should have secured a 2.1 in your undergraduate studies - hard luck to peeps with lower classes of degree, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. If you're still in college and yet to graduate and interested in furthering your studies outside the country, all expense paid, slow down on the girls, alcohol and parties and get your hustle on!)

2. Clean photocopies and scanned copies of all your certificates (SSCE, BSc, MSc, PhD, Birth Cert, LGA, etc).

3. Get an International passport ready (Gotta have some faith! - prepare a scanned copy of the data page)

4. Get a TOEFL or any other English proficiency certificate (Not terribly important but some schools will require them).

5. You might need to secure admission before you can apply for some opportunities (I will be doing a write-up on how to easily secure postgraduate admissions if I can get my lazy a** up to doing it) - START APPLYING NOW!!! ADMISSIONS CAN DE DEFERRED PENDING SECURING FUNDING. Finally got round to doing it. Here https://www.nairaland.com/2139721/easiest-way-secure-post-graduate#30591233

6. A scanned passport photograph.

7. A one-page (at most 2-page) CV...Keep it simple highlighting your qualifications and achievements.

8. Start working on a motivational statement (Not always required though). This should ideally be a one-page document that tells your story. The story should highlight your background, challenges faced in reaching where you are now and how you surmounted them. What drives you to graduate studies and why you think you deserve to be given the award. It shouldn't exactly be a sob-story but it helps if you can move your reader emotionally or compassionately...as long as you can get your reader to identify with you then you're good to go.
Read and edit, give to someone to read and edit. You can always modify the original to fit a different application.

9. Compress your scanned files to less than 200kb but make sure to keep the clarity of the text. It should still be legible (size matters when you're ready to upload). Have both .jpg and .pdf file types.

10. It will help you very significantly if you have referees you can disturb for an urgent reference. For this, I will suggest young PhD's in you school who have online presence. Most times, references are required to fill-out the forms online but if it has to be a hard copy you should have someone you can give a draft you wrote yourself for her/him to just append her/his signature. DON'T FORGET to use different types of envelopes and hand-writings to pen the address(They like and respect confidentiality and the aim will be defeated if they find out the hand-writing is the same across the application forms and referees reports!!!.

I will be updating this parent post with other pointers when I remember them.
Questions are welcome and other experienced go-getters are welcome to contribute as well.

As to why I'm doing this...
I hold a PhD by the special grace of God. I have been to three countries in three continents all by just knowing one Person. My BSc, MSc and PhD are from Nigeria but I carried out the research for the Masters and Doctorate in South Africa, Scotland and the United States. And oh, did I mention that I am a Fulbright Scholar? cool

All things are possible to them that believe. #JustBelieve

So this is sort of like my 'giving back' to the community.

Cheers!

NB: A lot of these opportunities are yearly programmes, so if you miss out this year's you can always prepare for the next installment.

“N27 million is a big sum, thankfully I have personal relationship with the manager of my bank in Kaduna
and I told him that very soon the forms are coming, so, whether I am on red, or green or even black please
honour it otherwise I may lose the nomination.
“I was about to go to Kaduna this morning and I told the Chairman but he said in that case, you better pick

that means there is no excuse,” Mr. Buhari said.

A man is ensnared by the words of his mouth. I have, and I can bet my left hand that you also have 'personal relationship' with bankers but even if your mother is dying they will never give you a loan based on name recognition alone or they could and that can be just what it is...corruption!
27mill is a lot of money but like the 'good' General also said he has at least 1mill in his account, (implying that he has a lot more than 1mill which he probably doesnt want to disclose for reasons best known to him) it is safe to say he has got the money but just wants to whip up sentiments and get a pity party going in his favour. But we can see through the smokescreen, cant we?

What makes you think that the loan was given without collateral? Are you privy to the transaction? Has the CBN or FRCN claimed that the bank acted illegally? Has the bank said there wasn't collateral? Why are we too in a haste to make pronouncements without analysis?
in the 'good' Generals words "...I just shook my head. I called my banker to inform him to honour my cheque when it comes..." paraphrased. I cant be bothered to look for the link to the source.
Ergo, there was no collateral...it was more of an overdraft. But to the tune of several millions is what gets me worried.
If you use paddy, paddy (cronyism) to get your way against the laid down rules, then you are what you are...no different from any other politician. Corrupt as they come!

1. Why should he name the bank? Do you want to rob the bank or what? What made his borrowing a lie? Has any bank or the cbn debunked it ?
Pray tell, if we have bankers in the house...Is it not corruption for a bank manager to loan other peoples money which they kept for safekeeping to someone or an organisation who/which has no collateral? Is this not the same reason Ibru and Akingbola lost their banks?
How does the 'good' General hope to pay back capital and interest?

I need people who work in financial organisatons to sound off on this please.

Rat incisors are highly specialized for gnawing. They are open-rooted, which means they grow throughout life. Ergo, if the rat doesn't get a chance to gnaw on stuff the teeth overgrows and can even puncture the brain leading to death. This explains why rats are so destructive. they chew on any and everything.

BackDatAssUp:
Oil shale in terms of derivative products other than as an energy source is still highly limited than conventional crude.

Even if America wants to depend on Shale as an energy source it can not sustain other high yielding finished products needed in production.

Shale is an interim product the Americans are desperate in relying on to reduce energy dependence from exports. Most of this energy ends up powering clunky yank junk.

Nigerians naturally should not be worried about the development of shale as an alternative energy source as this will get the greasy yanks of our back for the mean time. We must look at how we can develop the down stream sector to produce refined petrochemical products within our local economy.

We export our crude and in return we get virtually all finished products at the detriment of our own local economy, industries and jobs.

It is time we developed our petrochemical industry to service our own local needs, wean us off imports, save forex and create much needed jobs.

This is opposite what one gerriatic general proposed which was to stabilize crude prices in order to continue the lazy Saudi petrodollar mono economy.

Nowadays, we have a huge number of devices and gadgets around us that are supposed to make our daily lives easier. It’s what we’re most focused on, our normal day-to day life – but what if something serious happens, one of the things we’d rather not think about? A fire, a burglary, a child disappears? Some items that can save you in these situations you might own already, some you maybe don’t know yet exist.

1. Flashlight
Most of us have a flashlight at home. Somewhere. It can be of great help when there’s a power outage, for example. The problem is that most of us don’t know where it’s hiding, and if we find it, the batteries are probably empty.
See that you store one or several flashlights in a place you remember, and store batteries next to it.

2. Radio
In case of a natural disaster, a radio can be your line of communication when for example telephone nets break down. It might be your only way of receiving important information and updates. Store a battery-driven radio together with bottled water, non-perishable foods, clothes and other necessities you keep to be prepared.

3. Burglar alarm
A burglar alarm is an excellent device that makes your home more secure and lets you feel safe. With one little code before you leave and after you come back, your entire home will be secured. The entire neighborhood will know if it’s breached, not to mention the security firm who will call or come over on the spot.
Nowadays there are a plethora of different systems available, many are less complicated to install and less expensive than you think.

4. Smoke Detector
A smoke detector should be matter of course in every home. It’s easily set up and doesn’t need any maintenance, except for occasional battery changes. Smoke detectors have saved countless lives – you think you’d wake up in case of a fire, but chances are you won’t.
Install a detector on every level of your home and don’t forget to test them regularly.

5. Timers
There are several different kinds of timers on the market. With the most common ones, you simply enter the start and stop time and plug it into an outlet. The device connected to it will then only be active between those times.

More advanced versions can be installed for example into your stove. After a certain time, these timers will turn off the stove automatically. These devices can be live savers if you forget to turn the stove off, and are frequently used when elderly persons live on their own

6. Safety Plugs
These have been around for a long time, and they work today as well as they did before. Houses tend to have more and more electrical outlets, and even though no one seems to know why, babies and toddlers seem to be drawn to them like a moth to the light. Buy and place a gang of these and save your kids from serious injury.

7. Land-line
This might seem really old fashioned to you, since so many people nowadays only use cell phones. With those, you can carry your home phone with you, so what’s not to like? What people tend to forget is that mobile networks are much more vulnerable than landlines in for example extreme weather. If you don’t have a landline, you may be without a line of communication to the outside world, and you won’t be able to make emergency calls. Remember also that cordless phones won’t work during a power outage.

8. GPS Tracking Devices
GPS tracking is the newest thing in child safety. Since they’re not as expensive anymore, they are used by many parents. They want to be sure were their child is and that it is safe at all times. Simply fasten the small tracker on your child’s jacket or backpack, and whenever you want to you can tune in and check that your child is not skipping school, or something more sinister is happening.

9. Home Surveillance Equipment
With today’s technical advances, home surveillance is not only for mansions anymore. Cameras have become much cheaper, and installation is not difficult. Even us people with “normal” homes can afford a high security standard.

This is a great way of knowing everything that’s going on in and around your home, whether anything sinister is going on or not. And criminals are sure to be intimidated by visible cameras!

10. Video Intercom System
Do you live alone or you simply don’t want you or your children to open the door to anyone unknown? Then a video intercom system is for you. You’ll be able to identify anyone who rings at your door at a glance!
There are so many scammers and burglars around who trick people by ringing at their door and trying to get them to open their homes. This can happen to everyone, so a video intercom system will put one more layer of security between you and the scammers.

11. Child Locator
Child locators are the newest trend to keep track of your kids, most of all in crowded places. Have you ever been on vacation in Disneyland and tried to keep track of one of more excited little ones? It’s almost impossible without either kids or parents getting seriously frustrated.
This little gadget has two parts – one that you fasten for example to your kid’s shoe, and another one you keep. When you activate yours, the one your child is wearing will produce a sound that you’re able to hear even at some distance.

12. Magnetic Door Alarm
Magnetic door alarms can be ideal for someone who doesn’t want to install an entire alarm system, or for someone who wants to go the extra mile.
They are extremely easy to install, one half on the door jamb and the other half on the door itself. When it’s activated and someone opens the door, it produces a sound that is so loud that you want to crawl under the next table. It’s guaranteed to deter anyone from coming in who’s not supposed to!

13. Baby Monitor with Wireless Night Vision Camera
All parents are used to the kind of nagging worry you feel when you and your baby aren’t in the same place. Of course there are baby monitors to tell you when your little one is crying and needs your attention. This new kind of monitor lets you see your baby as well, even with the lights off. You can make sure that everything is as it should be, or simply watch it sleep.

14. Tasers
Tasers can save your life. They will incapacitate any assailant without actually harming them in the long run. You and your family will feel safe and secure even if you’re out after dark.
In most states, you’re able to carry a Taser without needing permission. They can be a great alternative if you don’t want to have firearms in the house.

15. Parental Controls
Parental controls seem like such an easy thing. Parents use it most of the time so that their child won’t stumble upon inappropriate content on the net, or to limit their computer time.
What many don’t think about is that through blocking these sites and forums, you can also protect your children from internet predators who pose as children and try to lure your child in.
