A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was Principal Security Officer to the wife of the former President, Patience Jonathan, has been shot dead by unknown assailants. Igbomie’s corpse was found in his Honda Accord car last Friday along the Airport Road, Abuja. The former PSO, who was married with two children, was believed to have been killed by assassins who shot him at close range in his car and left the engine running. A source said the body of the DSP was found early in the morning with all his phones, wallet and other personal effects in tact in the car. “We believe Tamuno was killed by hired assassins because they did not take away anything in his car. His phones and wallets were still with him when his body was found in the car with the engine steaming. “He was shot in the night and his body was found early in the morning; we don’t know if he was killed over a business transaction or disagreement with someone,” the source who served with the deceased at the villa stated. It was gathered that the deceased, who hailed from Okrika, Bayelsa State, was serving at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command before he was deployed to the Presidential Villa as Aide-De-Camp to Patience when her husband was the Vice President. He was later appointed as the PSO to Patience when her husband became the President in 2011. Findings indicate that the late policeman had just been redeployed back to his former position at the FCT Police Command, where he was in charge of posting of junior officers. The Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, confirmed the killing of the policeman, noting that investigation had started to unravel the assailants. “Yes, a DSP attached to the villa was killed last week Friday, investigation has started to find out the people behind the murder. No arrest has been made yet,” he said over the phone on Sunday. The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Anjuguri Manzah, said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, had ordered an investigation into the tragic incident. http://www.punchng.com/news/patience-jonathans-ex-security-aide-killed/

The Presidency, through the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, has directed the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, to refund over payment of salaries running into millions of naira. The Registrar of the university, David Suowari, was also directed to refund cumulatively the sum of N130, 692.71 per month in excess of his due salary. The over payments were said to have been discovered during the commission’s visit to the institution on May 12, 2015 to carry out an inspection of FUO’s remuneration practices vis-a-vis the extant government’s pay policy. The VC and the registrar were accused of appropriating certain allowances to themselves which were not approved by the government. These concerns were raised in a letter from the NSIWC to Aluko, signed for the Chairman of the Commission by the Director of Compensation, Chike Ogbechie. The commission said, “The findings of the inspection in respect of your institution (Federal University, Otuoke) were as follow: “The Vice-Chancellor was being paid total emoluments of N1,970,476.76 monthly, whereas he should not earn more than N922,810.23 if he were paid furniture allowance en bloc earlier, or N1,043,176.79 if he were being paid furniture allowance. “Much of the difference was attributed to certain allowances which were not approved by the government.” In the case of the registrar, the commission said he was being paid N130,692.71 in excess of his due salary of N502,580.25. The commission also said the university disaggregated its staff salaries against the government’s policy of pay consolidation. The NSIWC, therefore, directed the university to stop “the wrongful practices” and comply with relevant rules and rates. The commission added, “We hereby direct the vice-chancellor and the registrar to refund the cumulative overpayments made to them. “You are to report to the commission in writing, your compliance with this directive within four weeks of this letter.” It will be recalled that Prof. Mobolaji Aluko became the Vice-Chancellor of the university in February 2011. But reacting to the commission’s position, Aluko said in a text message to our correspondent that there was neither disaggregation of salaries nor overpayment of salaries. The vice-chancellor said, “Rather, pension and health insurance allowances were due to three of us, Diaspora Vice-Chancellors who are on Sabbatical from our foreign universities, and co-paid monthly in naira to us for payment to those foreign universities. “Without that concession occurring, our own local salaries would have been wiped out completely, and we could not have accepted the job.” Aluko wondered why the issue was coming up in the fifth and final year of their tenure. “However, the need for accountability is welcome, and Salaries and Wages Commission will be fully reconciled to the full facts,” the VC stated. Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent statement that his government will ensure it retrieves looted funds kept in foreign banks, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has confirmed the move. Speaking in an interview with Saturday Punch, Adesina said the search for the funds, which are kept in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, British Virgin Islands, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg, will not be limited to these countries alone. “The search will not only cover UK, US, Switzerland, Germany and other known havens for Nigerian looted funds but will cover everywhere under the sun. Anywhere and everywhere that the looted funds are, we have an assurance from the United States of America to assist us to repatriate these funds from anywhere under the sun,” he said. According to report, the Federal Government’s investigation is meant to identify the individuals involved in corrupt practices and ascertain the sums of money involved with a view to retrieving them. It was gathered that anti-corruption agencies play a vital role in the corruption fight, which is targeted at corrupt government officials in the recent past administration and their private sector collaborators, among others. Adesina said that the Federal Government plans to engage the services of foreign private investigators who will in tracing and find looted funds belonging to the people of Nigeria. “Everything that needs to be done to get all those funds repatriated will be done, including engaging private investigators,” the Presidential spokesperson said. Buhari had lamented that the Goodluck Jonathan administration left behind a near empty treasury. According to Adesina, the foreign search for looted funds that belong to Nigeria is part of the mandate Buhari was tasked with at the recent G7 summit in Germany. He said, “when the President met with the G7, the promise that the American President gave him was that Nigeria should just provide all the facts, the figures, the statistics, including the banks. “He promised that if Nigeria could make the information available, then the US will help in recovering the stolen funds.” “The assurance the President has given is that within the next three months, we have to concentrate on getting those monies back to the government coffers.” A few days ago, Buhari had said that his administration has received firm assurances of cooperation from the US and other countries in his bid to recover funds stolen from Nigeria. http://pulse.ng/politics/buhari-heads-to-roll-as-presidents-anti-corruption-war-takes-off-id3913406.html

Barely 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari dismissed all the members on the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, a Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Festus Keyamo, has reiterated his call for the erstwhile Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to be probed. Keyamo had, on June 17, written a letter to the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives asking the National Assembly to commence investigations into the activities of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, especially with regard to the crude oil swap programme and offshore processing agreements of the company. He alleged that some NNPC officials, in collaboration with some local companies, were looting the country’s resources. In an interview with Sahara TV on Saturday, Keyamo said there was an array of issues necessitating investigations into Alison-Madueke’s management of the ministry. He said, “It is about a whole lot of issues. In my petition, I was particular about what has come to be known as the crude oil swap deals. Under this arrangement, we never knew that a lot of our crude oil was given to private oil companies in exchange for their bringing in petroleum products. Under one arrangement, they were supposed to take it out. We signed (out) the products and then took them back to Nigeria whether they were petroleum products or by-products. “Under the other arrangement, we were supposed to be given the crude oil to sell at the international market and then use the money to import petroleum products into the country. Now, there have been reports in the papers of late that under these arrangements, certain Nigerian oil and gas companies made very huge, unwarranted profits and the simple reason is that they imported far less than the crude oil that they bought. “Under this arrangement, some of them bought private jets, property around the world and began to live large. Certain individuals in the NNPC were seen as collaborators in this deceitful and grand plot. Before the minister left office, she picked up her pen and wrote a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, inviting it to probe these individuals and these groups. And I asked myself some imple questions: It is a bit curious who had supervisory authority over these individuals and these issues.” According to the legal practitioner, Alison-Madueke had access to all the relevant documents. He explained that she could have easily called for the offenders and given queries to them. “Why did she wait till the last minute to write a petition to the EFCC to probe these deals? And I told myself: It is not a safe person who runs to a police station to complain that is always the victim of the crime,” Keyamo said. http://www.punchng.com/news/why-diezani-must-be-probed-keyamo/

Breasts do not look nice when they are sagging. The sign of a sexy woman is a healthy bust that holds shape on its own and sits straight like the shoulders that adds to her existing svelte. If your breasts are sagging, here are a few points to help you figure out the reason: 1. Big Breasts If you are naturally blessed with big breasts, it could be a cause of your sagging breasts. The weight of the breasts might be causing it to droop downwards. Gravity eventually plays a big role when it comes to weight. You can solve the problem by wearing bras with good support and even try to lose some weight. Another more complicated solution is surgery, which can be resorted to as the last solution to the problem. 2. Blame the Genes Some women might naturally have breasts that are structured the way that they are. So if you feel they are droopy and if they are structured that way, there is not much that you can do about it. If the problem of sagging breasts is troubling you that much then you might want to try some breast muscle strengthening exercises or wear uplifting bras. 3. Smoking Smoking apart from ruining the overall health of your body also kills the collagen in the body, responsible for the elasticity of your skin. So nip this bad habit in the bud unless you want to suffer from sagging breasts forever. 4. Weight loss or crash dieting When you gain weight the skin expands and fills out with the extra weight gained. Similarly when you lose weight suddenly, the skin does not get enough time to cope in reducing the extra skin. The skin cannot snap out and snap in according to your convenience. It’s a time consuming process that affects elasticity of the skin that only gets repaired over time. 5. Wrongly-Fitted Bra Nearly 80% of women wear the wrong sizes or wrongly fitted bras. So if the fitting is not right, it might cause the bras to sag, thereby causing or adding a lot of stress to the collagen in your skin, especially near the breasts. Always wear a bra that holds it right. 6. Bad Posture When you stand or sit straight, your breasts also stand out. Make it a habit to maintain a good posture so that even your breasts get the benefit of it and do not sag. 7. Sun Damage The UV rays of the sun damages the skin to the extent that it loses its elasticity. So if you have been exposing your breasts to the sun, the chances are that they are sagging due to the damage caused by the sun. http://www.completehealthnews.com/7-reasons-why-your-breasts-are-sagging/ |
