The dwindling fortunes of Nigeria football has being brought to fore once more as the country’s national team, the Super Eagles, dropped 14 places to now occupy 57th position in the latest FIFA rankings released by the World football governing body on Thursday. The position is the worst for the Eagles team in recent times especially when one looks back that the same Nigerian team had soared as high as the 5th spot in the order of football ranking across the world before now. Though the Super Eagles recorded a 2-0 win over Chad in the period under review, it did not in any way help the ranking of the three-time African champions who now occupy 10th position on the continent. Algeria, who are 19th in the world, remain the highest ranked team in Africa while Ivory Coast, Ghana Tunisia , Senegal , Cameroon, Congo, Cape Verde and Egypt are all placed above Nigeria. Meanwhile, Argentina are the new top team on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. Despite losing to Chile on penalties in the final of the Copa América, the Albiceleste have leapfrogged over Belgium and Germany to take the top spot in the world ranking for the first time in seven years. Chile, who emerged Champions in the South America tournament, moved up eight positions; only just missing out on a top-ten ranking at number 11. As explained by FIFA, the volatility of the ranking this month is due in part to the many matches that have been played: with 26 Copa América matches, 99 qualifying matches for the World Cup or continental tournaments, and 88 friendlies, the number of matches taken into account has almost doubled the amount for the year so far (477 matches in total). The world football governing body said that the other reason is that the matches from last year’s World Cup have been devalued. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/sports/186366-fifa-rankings-super-eagles-crash-14-places.html

As with the fabulous smiting and magical eloquence that talking drums, ‘ilu', such as bata, gangan, sere, sakara and gudu-gudu have accorded the Yoruba music industry, the Igbo's have equally enjoyed the overwhelming effect of Ekwe, Udu and Igba in the Igbo music scene. Interestingly, the exhilarating sounds of those drums combined with the enchanting soulful voices of musicians have made Nigerian music what they were back in the days. Nowadays, the so-called reigning Nigerian songs are gradually lacking the power to inspire, as someone recently put ‘they are more of nuisance than inspiration which they're meant to be', contemporary songs in the Nigerian music world nowadays often lack rhythm, tone, symphony, good voice and soothing words. In short, they are simply becoming an unbecoming. Below are musicians that really rocked it back in the days. Trust me, you will surely have that nostalgic feeling if you had the opportunity to sing to these songs back then.

The Presidency has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its demand that former President Goodluck Jonathan should be given credit for funds recently approved to be shared between Nigeria’s states and the Federal Government. The Presidency also accused the PDP of creating unnecessary controversy over “the well-intentioned effort” of the President. This was contained in a statement released by Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina. It reads: “Mr. Metuh’s claim that a significant amount of the funds came from savings accumulated in the Excess Crude Account and handed over to the Buhari administration is completely false and deliberately intended to mislead the public.” “As we clearly stated yesterday (on Tuesday), the funds approved by President Buhari for sharing to the three tiers of government on Monday came entirely from dividends and taxes paid to the Federation Account by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company, not from the Excess Crude Account.” “The disbursed NLNG dividends and taxes were paid into the Federation Account in June this year and confirmed by the Central Bank’s statement to the Federal Government on July 7, 2015.” “The funds cannot, therefore, be considered ‘savings’ by the Jonathan administration which left office in May, 2015, as disingenuously claimed by Mr. Metuh.” “Instead of being repeatedly impugned and castigated by the PDP and its agents for honestly telling Nigerians that the nation’s treasury has been immensely depleted and its resources looted or squandered under previous administrations, President Buhari should be commended for the openness, transparency and accountability which he has now brought to the management of national funds.” “It was in keeping with that disposition that the President promptly disclosed the accrual of the NLNG dividends and taxes to the Federation Account at his recent meeting with state governors and approved the convening of a special session of the FAAC to share it.” “Mr. Metuh and others, who now ungratefully see Monday’s disbursement of the NLNG proceeds as their “legitimate” earnings and not a “bailout” from the Federal Government, may wish to tell Nigerians if such earnings were ever disclosed by the PDP Federal Government and paid to the states in the past.” “The public may also wish to note that the Buhari administration itself has never referred to the actions which it was taken to ease the current financial difficulties of states as a “bailout.” The funds were approved for sharing by Buhari on Monday, July 6. http://pulse.ng/politics/unpaid-salaries-bailout-funds-not-jonathans-savings-presidency-blasts-pdp-id3953816.html

Always ensure you read the manual of any product you buy very well before using/operating.

Good. It means that Bill gates have money generating capital assets. He may not have up to $10 billion liquid cash in his account but he is valued at more than $70 billion. Why? Assets. Even if he gives out all his $10 billion to charity, bill gates can never be broke. Why is that? Because he has assets geneting revenue on a daily basis.
