FamilyRe: Getting Married To Your Age mate by lomaxx: 3:44pm On Dec 28, 2013
There's no issue settling down with your age-mate, other factors being constant.

Once you begin to go romantic on a lady, even if she's 10 years your junior, she don dey see you like age-mate. angry

If you love her, wife her. cool

purpleproperty: Hi doctors,

I am a twenty eight year old female and I have had this lump on the back of my head since I was abt eight. It started after I got cut by clippers at a barbers shop.

The lump has been growing slowly for a while but it is totally painless.

I am thinking of getting it removed but I wonder if it won't be risky. What are the dangers involved?
The "lump" is called a keloid. How do you want to remove it? My best guess is surgery. There are no inherent dangers - if there be any, it's very minimal(it's a local procedure).

It will also help you to know, that a good number of keloids are bound to re-occur after removal.

U won't ...when you do the needful.

A friend (now a fully qualified doctor) whom I used to rank among the gods once told me "Do your homework and you won't be found wanting".

charleymed: A 53-year-old professor and chairman of a department of anatomy received a severe head injury while rock climbing. During the ascent of a crevasse, his companion's ice axe fell from his belt and struck the prof's head, causing a depressed fracture of the frontal bone. After convalescing from his accident, the professor returned to his position in the medical school. It quickly became obvious to the faculty and student body that the professor's social behaviour had changed dramatically. His lectures, although amusing, no longer had direction. Although previously a smartly dressed man,he now had an unkempt appearance. The organization of the department started to deteriorate rapidly. Finally he was removed from office after being found one morning urinating into the trash basket in one of the classrooms. Use your knowledge of neuroanatomy to explain the professor's altered behaviour.
Depressed fracture to frontal bone of the Professor's skull bone caused traumatic neuronal injury in the frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex (which is the seat of all personality, judgement, impulse control, and cognitive ability ).

Charleymed is yet to tell us if the professor was able to perform sexua.l functions with a damaged frontal lobe grin grin

charleymed: Xmas bonanza
A 50-year-old woman with a cerebrovascular leison, on questioning, was found to experience difficulty in understanding spoken speech, although she fully understood written speech. Which area of the cerebral cortex was damaged?
At this level, I should be able to differentiate between Broca's aphasia and Wernicke's aphasia grin grin . Xmas bonanza indeed.

Ans: Wernicke's Area

Decide what you want. Being decisive starts when you place your foothold on a particular line and refuse to look back.

adexchamp: Its been happening for quite a while now and its recurrent,no pains when stooling and no pain in the anus area either, the is frequent abdominal pain and i've bin diagnosed with peptic ulcer before,i was on medication of omeprazole and some other drugs but the chest pain won't go..!!!
What medication were you on? For how long now?

How consistent were you with your drugs?

You may need to see your doctor again. The blood you see in your stool is a complication of the peptic ulcer disease you were diagnosed with. I think you should act fast.

Meanwhile, if you take alcohol, it would be best to stop for now. Also stop the use of painkillers like diclofenac, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDS. Don't eat peppery food.

In my humble opinion, you should:
1) Do a personal research on the demands and responsibilities of every department in the healthcare sector;

2) Understand what you find out and decide if it is what you want;

3) Understand that nothing good comes easy. If you must be the best, you need to put good effort. There's no room for laziness anywhere. ;

4) Understand that no two health professionals in the same field are the same in terms of prospects, satisfaction and returns. It's purely personal.

5) Decide on possible areas and somehow we could help you.

TCD:

Hello , permit me to give my opinion on this...
Emzybrown: Am sorry but i have to reply you, for displaying your ignorance on a public forum or deliberately trying to malign medical laboratory science with your myopic points.
There is a difference between facts and opinion. If he claimed to state facts, you would then have been very justified to step in and make the corrections.

But he gave HIS OPINION....which he is very entitled to- whether it is myopic, hypermetropic or in between. . We are in a public forum and people should be free to air their opinions and experiences - no matter how averse it is to our interests.

And most importantly, we should learn to respect them not because they are true/false, but because they are people's opinions- and they may help someone make some life changing decisions.

I have however noticed that this place is not the best to give your opinion- especially as it regards opportunities between health-related fields. I have long resigned from such effort as I want to be the last person to give someone sleepless nights over an opinion.

adexchamp: @ Lomaxx.....The blood doesn't mix with the stool it comes out by itself after stooling and its dark red, meanwhile the person doesn't strain to pass the stool..
That means you see it on the tissue paper after stooling and it is dark red, right?

Is this the first time it's happening or has it been recurrent?

How long has this been happening?

Is it painful when you stool?

Any pain around your anus independent of stooling?

Did you have difficulty in passing stool just before the bleeding started?

Do u pass stool frequently?

Any abdominal pain?

Have you noticed any change in your bowel habits, change in appetite, weight loss?

Have you been diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease before? Do u have "heartburn" ?

For how long?
What pain relieve drugs did you take?

Meanwhile: You should adjust your posture- esp when sitting and lying down.
If you're overweight, work on reducing weight.
If you lift weights, try to apply correct ways to lift weights.
Try not to be inactive. Make an effort to always be on the move.

brytandre: Hello doctor, please I have a growth in my left eye, it occupies an area between my sclera and iris. Its yellowish in colour. The left eye is always red and cannot withstand smoke or dust without causing severe pain. I've used several eye drops (as recommended by my optician) by the growth is still spreading. What do u recommend? Thanks
The bump ( what you called 'growth' ) is called Pinguecula. Typically inflamed by exposure to dust, sun, wind. When it becomes inflamed( as evidenced by the redness and pain in your left eye) it becomes pingueculitis.

Typically presents as reddish painful eye that doesn't resolve on administration of antibiotic eye drop. This is because antibiotic kills bacteria but not inflammation.

Treatment of the pain and redness of pingueculitis is steroid eye drop. The steroid won't make the yellow bump(pinguecula) go away. It would remove the inflammation so you won't have the pain and redness.

The only way to remove it is surgical excision.

Meanwhile, see your ophthalmologist. And avoid sun rays. Your shades should come handy here.

PS: I love your history. Straight to the point and very helpful for instant diagnosis.

She most likely has either of Type 1 diabetes mellitus or Diabetes insipidus. Her bladder is okay.

Meanwhile, you can do the flly tests: 1) Fasting plasma glucose 2) Serum electrolytes, urea and creatinine 3)
Urinalysis.
RomanceRe: After 3 Abortions, He Will Marry Another Lady This Month by lomaxx: 10:28am On Dec 24, 2013
Foolish girls will always get pregnant, abort and claim she did him a favour by aborting.

I mean what the fucq was she thinking was going to happen after she had unprotected sex with a man? That she will develop wings and fly? What happened to her knowledge of contraceptive? If the man was stupid enough not to use condoms, then she was more stupid not to have plan B.

You have unprotected sex , wake up and celebrate the feeling ....then act surprised when the doctor declares you pregnant. You must be very foolish.

There is one power you cannot take away from anybody. Even God cannot take that power from you. It's the power of choice. Anybody can choose to marry who he/she wants to without any explanation to anybody. You don't have to kill people over their choices . They didn't kill you to make yours. So why the sweat?
