1) I'm yet to understand the one reason why guys are ALWAYS blamed when a relationship falls apart. In answering your first question, I can't speak for other guys...it's a personal thing . But for me, I'm naturally not bothered by things. So a breakup from a relationship or any other pleasurable stuff hardly gets to me. It doesn't mean I'm heartless. I don't see the logic in nursing a past. 2) If you're going to live the rest of your life thinking that things work out well because we make the best choices , then you have a long way to go. Life is more complex than hoping for the best because you've done the best. Shit is really gonna happen. Plenty shit would happen. I'm not the best person to tell anyone if giving their partner everything was wrong. People are different. He may have been making sacrifices for you too. Who knows? And wasn't it a relationship? He didn't give you his time, body, seme.n, money, heart, comfort, jokes....etc while it lasted? 3) It's your choice. Whether you love or not does no one any favour. It won't add one more dollar to the man on the street who cannot afford his daily bread. It won't increase or decrease the GDP of the Nigerian economy. It won't improve the prognosis in drug-resistant tuberculosis. So don't sweat it. Do what you want. It's a free world. |
What happened to her knowledge of birth control? What was she thinking? |
Never go back to a past you've moved on from. You will pull yourself back and down. It can be really difficult especially when you've had feelings for this person. But you've moved on so don't sweat it. The same reasons that made you move on should be the same reason you should think of right now. This should be just like any other SMS to you. |
leatherman: Oh, you think "she chop clean mouth?"....A man's food is another man's poison, but some things are poisonous to all men when done outside boundaries. So what is this boundary that defines the safety margin of sex? Without allusion to religious sentiments, what quality/feature makes this boundary sufficient and satisfactory to all parties involved in the practice of sex? |
That's what you get for poor training of these imbeciles. |
The rest of us are busy on more important things. |
Ngokafor: ..am guilty of this sex before marriage as well *shame-faced*.,i really tried to hold out but my boo was such a sweet caring and ermm wait for it..generous guy!..lol!,his being attractive (which i fought so hard to resist) didnt help matters eitherIn other words, you don chop clean mouth finish.

You mentioned that she bedwets especially after a tiring day or on a cold night. That's striking. Which makes me ask- why does she take "lots of fluid" in the day ? Is she unusually very thirsty? |
Cvesta: i went to c a doc nt 4 nasal congestn but 4 loss of smell ability..wen d catarh started,i cudnt smel,i felt it was probably a blockage of d nasal pathway, but wen d catarh stop 4 days n i noticed i stil kudnt smell, dat was wen i went to c d doc...d doctor only gave vitamin C n a few non special drus, notin i tink i avnt seen b4..my taste ability was a ''little'' affected in d early stage but it has bcum normal 4long..i snore sumtims,i started smokin herb less dan 7months 2d incident, tho occasionally, sumtims i could go a month without smokin, n even in d period i smoke, dey were nt much,a stick or 2 a day, none on sum days....i was a student in d varsity wen it happened....i breathe well,no allergies, stil av runnin nose once in a while,i wsnt workin as @ denI have a strong index of suspicion you have an olfactory groove meningioma. It's subject to confirmation or otherwise as you make an appointment with your ENT doctor. Olfactory groove meningioma is a slowly growing tumour that most typically causes chronic inability to smell as the first presenting symptom. Your ability to smell is due to communication between nerves that transmit between your nose and brain. When a tumour (OGM)impinges on these nerves, you can't smell again. Typically, this tumour grows slowly. As it keeps growing, it might impinge on other functions like your ability to see(optic nerve).....it can occupy so much space and cause more problems. You mentioned occasional headaches that was severe enough to affect your reading during your final year. That's one of the space occupying issues of this tumour. Bottomline: You need to see an ENT doctor ASAP. The faster you do, the better for you. |
Haryanphe: Doc, pls keep up the good work you are doing right here. I would like to know the likely causes of adult bedwetting and the drugs one can take to stop it. Could be as a result of bladder malfunctioning or what. Thank you in advance for your proferred solutionIs this person male or female? How old is he/she? Did the bedwetting start in adulthood or did it continue from childhood? How long has this happened? How many times does this happen per night? And how many nights per week? During the day, does this person urinate frequently(if yes, how many times) ? Does this person feel an urgent need to pass urine in the day? Does this person find urine already in his/her underwear on the way to relief himself/herself of urine? |
Nadia_SA1: Doc please I have a prob of swollen boobs.. my boobs get really swollen nd sore for days then stops for a while thinking I'm better but today it has started againDoes the breast soreness and swelling get really worse few days to your period? Does it improve when your period starts or few days after? PS: Breast soreness (usually accompanied with swelling) is common among women of reproductive age. It can be cyclical (related to your menstrual cycle) or non-cyclical (the opposite). It is typically cyclical most of the time(which is why I asked those questions up there) and shouldn't arouse fear(if it is the only breast symptom you have). Wear good, supporting bras when you have those sore episodes. Painkillers help...topical pain killers most especially. You can get this off any pharmacy. |
adexchamp: Please what can be a problem if someone is seeing blood in his/her stool...Is the blood streaked on the stool or mixed with the stool? Is it dark-brown blood or bright-red blood? Is this person passing hard and scanty stool? Does this person strain to pass stool? |
Lagusta: For example, the case of the guy with parasthesias, I had already known it was likely a thyroid disorder, so I personally won't ask for polyuria/polydypsia, I.e in the body of history, I'll leave that for the past medical history,DM is the commonest metabolic cause of paraesthesias. It was safe to rule it out. But no issues shaa, keep it upThanks. Hail your nurses for me sha ![]() |
Lagusta: lomaxx what are you looking for on this threadI was just strolling around. Now you're here... ![]() But Plss keep your clerking questions brief,Nobody has died from answering too many questions. patients usually get fed up Cos of too many, sometimes irrelevant questions .....I'm yet to notice an irrelevant question. You ask to rule out possible differentials right? I'll highlight some cases I met here. 1) Hyperactive bowel sounds - each question was relevant to the diagnosis, if you noticed. 2) Anosmia of 2 year duration. Each question was relevant too. My possible differentials are nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis, and most strongly - olfactory groove meningioma (a slowly growing tumour that presents typically as anosmia+ dull headache+ other neurologic signs later on). Most commonly diagnosed in late stages when the tumour is big and presents with space occupying signs ). Each question was relevant. Doctors are not trained to be magicians. Especially when the condition is 1) not a spot diagnosis and 2) when it's chronic. I believe any patient that needs help should take patience and answer small questions. For his own good. |

adeola_drg: Good Job Dr Lomaxx. GBUThanks. You're the right person to ask this. Is Rifaximin available in Nigeria ? How expensive is it? |
jfkenny.:I don't how the issue of therapy is done in this thread. You may need to see a doctor in person. PS: I'll still send you a private e-mail. |
Cvesta: i can no longer smel independent of nasal congestion, tho d inability 2smel started ysr back after days of avin catarhSo for 2 years now, you've been unable to smell. Let's go over your history. Sometime ago you had nasal congestion...and you went to a doctor. It's unusual for someone to see a doctor over nasal congestion. That was your first episode of inability to smell. Now you can't smell even without a congested nose. How serious was the nasal congestion 2 years ago? Was it a "running nose" ? What was the doctor's diagnosis? Why did he say it would re-occur? What did he do for you? Just answer some small questions: Did you start losing your smell ability gradually or it just started suddenly? Do you have allergies ? Like sneezing Did you have an inability to taste back then (when u first noticed your inability to smell)? Do you have an inability to taste now? Do you have breathing problems? Do you snore? Or have people complained about your sleeping habit? Do you still have running nose? If yes, how often. Do you have problems with seeing( like seeing double) ? Have you hit your head before? Do you have memory problems? Have you noticed any change in your personality? Do you smoke? Or work in places where you're exposed to toxic gases or chemicals? Has your voice changed over the years? |
cumpaddre: This issue is the buzz of the moment and it aint on FP yet?? MODS!!! ![]() |
edimalo: hello Doctors in the house,Was it fasting blood sugar or random blood sugar? I had earlier gone to the hospital based on my last post of itching/burning sensation and was told to go for test.I followed you post. You mentioned taking some medications without improvement. What medications did you take? what test were you asked to do by the hospital? |
bazrule1: thanks for the reply, my family have no history of diabetics and i had rickets at age 2 which was treated and i was ok up till now. the doctors i have met so far have been giving me vitamin b complex and b-fort i have also done blood sugar test and it was ok.Do a thyroid hormone assay. |
jfkenny.:Right. I'll go straight to the point. From your history, I think you have Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) aka Bacterial Overgrowth Syndrome. How did I get here? Like I mentioned before, bowel sounds are normal. But the absence or hyperactivity of them becomes a problem. Your case is not related to the absence or presence of food. Or any kind of food in particular. So this put off so much. I was left with either of bowel obstruction, bacterial overgrowth, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. Your bowels would produce plenty sound in trying to overcome an obstruction. If you had an obstruction, you would have had either of vomiting or constipation depending on the location. But no. Next was bacterial overgrowth syndrome. Abnormal bacterial growth in our gut produces a lot of gas...causing so much noise. When you mentioned how excessive you farted and how badly smelly it was...my diagnosis was strengthened. No abdominal pain, No blood in stool, etc settled the rest. |
jfkenny.:So your hyperactive bowel sounds is not related to food intake. Within the past 6 months indicate if you've had any of the following: *Have you had frequent stooling? *Have you had inability to pass stool? *Have you had abdominal pain? *Do you fart excessively or not at all? *Has your stool changed colour? * Have you noticed blood in your stool? * Do you belch excessively? * Is your abdomen unusually bloated? *Is your abdomen bigger than normal ? PS: Abdominal sounds are normal. But when they are absent or excessive(like in your case) it arouses a suspicion of an underlying disease. This is strengthened if you have additional symptoms(which is why I asked those questions up there). However, you could still be healthy if those additional symptoms are absent, and if further investigations reveal that your GIT is in order. |
My late younger brother. He was the most cheerful person I've ever met. There was something ineffable about him.....and his smile. You sight him from afar off and you're already grinning sheepishly to yourself. When he shows up, you know that life isn't gonna be the same again. Everyone loved him...well not everyone. That explains why he's no more. RIP Bro. |

A US public relations executive has provoked a storm of online protest for writing a Twitter comment about Aids in Africa. Justine Sacco, who works for the media company InterActiveCorp (IAC), wrote: "Going to Africa. Hope I don't get Aids. Just kidding. I'm white!" Ms Sacco's account has now been deleted. IAC responded by saying the "outrageous, offensive comment" did not reflect the company's views and values. Unfortunately, the employee in question is unreachable on an international flight, but this is a very serious matter and we are taking appropriate action," the IAC said in a statement to the media blog Valleywag. IAC is the parent company of About.com, Ask.com, CollegeHumour, Match.com, OkCupid, The Daily Beast, Dictionary.com, Vimeo, and BlackPeopleMeet.com, a dating site for African-Americans. Dammyoni18: Good day Doc,How did you take the Ciprofloxacin? Did you complete the required course of treatment? You might need to go back to your doctor. And I've noticed there is plenty of recurrent UTIs with Ciprofloxacin. Talk to your doctor, he'll know what to do. |
bazrule1: Doctors Pls what can be the cause of this feeling. I feel like I am having like a pin pinching me in the leg, hand and some time back all day, and at times I feel warm and unable to sleep. Could it be nutrition deficiency and also I had Rickets as a kid but am in my early 20s now, it has been on for a month nowThe pins and pricks in your hands, legs and back could be due to a variety of conditions ranging from Diabetes Mellitus, Back/Spinal cord injury, Abnormal calcium levels, Abnormal Vitamin levels, Thyroid condition etc But I'll be straight to the point here. 1)You have a previous history of rickets. What do you think caused it? How was it managed? How is your Vitamin D intake? 2) There's the possibility of diabetes mellitus. You're 20 so this narrows it to Type 1 most likely. 3) Your feeling of warmth and inability to sleep(probably due to the discomfort) could point to an inactive thyroid. You may need to do a thyroid hormone assay. 4) Have you ever had a back injury? In the past one month, have you had fatigue /loss of energy, hair loss, dry skin, weakness, constipation, blurred vision, fullness in the throat, decreased hearing, weight gain? increased appetite, increased thirst, increased passing of urine, noticed your urine is foamy? Do you have a history of Diabetes mellitus in your family? Muscle cramps, wheezing, painful swallowing? Have u noticed some personality changes? Depression? Are you on any medication- within the last one month? Do you take substance ( cocaine or the stuff) or alcohol ? |
