@Aktopgun,

Thanks for the Candle light on Thomas Wyatt. The company just came off TS after issuing a Rights Offer of N250m. The company is indebted to the tune of N38m and made a loss in 2003,2004,2005 and 2007. Infact they were about to go into receivership for debts owned to their major creditor First Bank in 2002 before they were salvaged by Leadway Assurance who bought their Abebe Village  Rd Head office building and leased it back to them (they used the proceeds to pay off First Bank).

A venture capitalist named Moorhouse Management Ltd bought 30% stake into the company with a view of revamping their lost fortunes (hence the scarcity of the stock).The concluded Rights Offer marked down the end of the phase one of the turn-around strategy for the company. For a company that just depends on the production of exercise books to support itself, it needs to conjure more viable alternative streams of income or assets. There is a feel good factor about the company in terms of the turn-around syndrome that briefly pushed up Dunlop plc recently. I will be tempting my Ajebo broker (I share the same broker with Wanaj0) with some units tomorrow for speculative investment.

stocknrock:
I might not be an insightful poster on this thread as I do not have up to date stock market tips

But I have made money from this thread as have alot of people.

and I really do not care how old you are, or how achieved you are, or how many units of each stock you hold. It all doesnt matter as this is a faceless forum.

If you are not willing to disclose your account balance, or portfolio balance then you do not have to disclose your name, age or any other personal data of yours.

The only one thing I think should be different amongst everyone on this forum should be their wealth of knowledge and how they intend to share it with others.

As long as this remains a faceless forum I believe myself to be a female or male or young or old, it all doesnt matter, we are sharing stock market tips and I do not think it necessary to deviate from that up until a point whereby we start calling each other names over matters that don't pertain to the stock market.

I have enjoyed reading each post on this forum, as I am a silent reader and my hand is always on the refresh button. Right now I have so many CICO opportunities but not enough money to put in all of them, thanks to all the gurus who are sharing their knowledge relentlessly on this forum.

I do not plan for the knowledge sharing to end as I still have alot of money to be made from the NSE as do alot of us here.

So I kindly indulge everyone here, regardless of your age or status to kindly BEHAVE AND RESPECT YOURSELF

Thanks all Folks!
and your point is ?

There are various threads here and there in the Travel and Property section involving UK Diasporans (I stopped contributing there when I got incessant emails from people/forumites soliciting for letters of invitation/visa sponsorship,etc-trust Naija).

Can anyone direct me to a resource where I can get the Ex-Dividend dates for all NSE quoted companies ?

I came across a Book on Dividend Investment and they did mention about a strategy of buying into some companies just before the Ex-Div date.

I have made some easy money from Linkage and I wonder it there is more juice to squeeze?
The Stock must be reaching its resistance level at around N5 or under, maybe nothing more to squeeze

@wanaj0,

Thanks for the info.I have not received any contract note for the execution of the orders from Afrinvest.I don't know how many Dunlop shares they bought, how much they bought it for or when they bought it and they couldnt even bother informing me about it. Mike Murdock did say that its better to "go to where you are celebrated instead of being tolerated"

@wanaj0,

Pls could you kindly help me contact your 'Relationship Officer'-Susan@Afrinvest for me. She has refused to reply my last 3/4 emails to her over the past 2 weeks and has refused to tell me the outcome of my previous Dunlop purchase instructions. She has refused to send my requested CSCS statement and Stock a/c. She has refused to respond to my text messages too. I copied one of their bosses in my last email but to no avail. Just because we are in Diaspora does not mean we should be treated with disdain.I even emailed the Broker directly but got no response.I cant even log on to their website again.Thanks

Wanaj0 please comment on Amakpe. It is more viable than orient and if the fed government can get its act together it is a long term income earner. Londoncool na your people. All things being positive it is a good one.

@Napoleon,

Thanks for the info on Amakpe Refinery (as an ex-child prodigy I took 2 seconds to decode the origin of the companies name from their owners-Chief Amanam and Mrs H.Ikpe).

Do you know when the PP would commence and the price per unit/minimum number of units ? It looks a better viable option than Orient Petroluem's PP. I remember my O/Level Economics classes when they used to ask us about factors that influence the location of an Industry-the first answer was always Proximity to Raw Materials. The siting of the Refinery at Eket close to the Qua Iboe Terminal makes lots of operational sense to me.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by LondonCool(m): 11:14pm On Feb 23, 2008
@Londoncool
A nominee account puts the broker entirely in charge of your affairs. It is like a trustee account with the trustee (broker) having full powers to sign on your behalf. You have to trust the broker although with an individual CSCS acct you also need to trsut the broker as he can sell without authority although you may report him and get some redress.

A nominee account can also help you make strategic moves without showing your hands. Imagine, for whatever reason, that Otedola starts buying Oando shares. This may be quickly noticed if he is using his regular CSCS account. But a CSCS account in the name of the nominee "Londbroker Nominee/FO" will not cause significant anxiety at Oando. Londonbroker being the name of the broker and FO being Femi Otedola.

A nominee account is also useful if you are not around to sign mandates and similar documents. It also provides an additional name to buy IPO (really?) with. So Londoncool, if that is your real name, can be used on 1 form and Londonbroker/LC can be used on another form. The broker will sign this second form.

Core Trust. I cannot speak for their trade execution but they are a respectable (integrity-wise) house. I don't have information about Fidelity securities
@sdeck,

I appreciate your insightful explanation. Would a Nominee a/c be the best option if given a Margin Facility ?

@Windywendy,

Thanks for your advise. Most of my Dunlop acquisitions were within the N2.80 to N4.30 range last year,  and N4.80 to N5.00 range this year. I have cycled out of  some of the one's bought last year and gradually mopping up again. Lets see what this months Candlesticks have to say !

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by LondonCool(m): 8:03pm On Feb 23, 2008
Has anyone used the services of Core Trust & Investment Ltd and/or Fidelity Union Securities for their stock trading? Can I have your experiences please, especially with Trade executions. I am about making them my 3rd and 4th stock brokers.

Also, what is the advantage of my Stock Broker opening a Nominee account (instead of an individual a/c) for me  with the  CSCS ?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by LondonCool(m): 6:30pm On Feb 23, 2008
aktopgun:
exactly sir! what do u think this means for CILEASING in the short term?

please indulge me
@Aktopgun,

The Inverted Hammer which is also a Shooting Star sends a warning that the top is near and its formation
at the bottom of a trend, is a bullish signal of a  bullish reversal pattern.

As the market opened yesterday below the close of the previous day (i.e Thursday), the Buyers made a brief rally, but not enough to close above Thursdays close. Since this leaves the stock in a losing position, the Inverted Hammer presents the potential for an upcoming rally. Confirmation of the trend reversal would by an opening above the body of the Inverted Hammer on the next trading day (i.e Monday). If the open and the close for Monday are identical, the pattern would be considered a Gravestone Doji.

It is important to wait for the bullish verification for C& I Leasing, although it lost 4.85%  yesterday it could be in for another short burst Bullish run. What sayest thou ?
