Yeah we pay tax in Canada but we also get money back from the government.
In addition to that, we get a lot of free services. Free or subsidize education, free healthcare and so on.

cc:maternal

I'm a born and bred Londoner I proudly pay my tax too. There is no-one living in a country whose tax goes into a working system that would be against paying tax. Healthcare and education in Canada like the UK is free AT THE POINT OF SERVICE and NOT free per se because it's largely subsidised by the taxpayer including you and I, right? And so it should be.

My point was that most Nigerians while doing calculations based on hourly rates do not factor in costs such as tax. They think they'll just carry 100% of what they earn to build so called mansions. They have very little perception of reality when it comes to how the system works abroad if they have never lived abroad. Contrary to what you thought, I'm not criticising Canada at all, the UK works the same way in fact I was introducing some reality to the discussion and calculations being thrown around. In fact, I am the only one that mentioned tax and other compulsory rates paid on income.

Exactly, I would never complain about the taxes and contributions I pay and I'm proud of the system I invest in. My point was that people in Nigeria are not considering these costs but only what someone is paid hourly. Surely, bills are important if you are talking about using the wage from a minimal job to 'build mansions'. That was my point.

As I stated it won't build a mansion. That's what I stated in my quoted comment which inspired this topic.

People seem to think you take home 100% of what you earn abroad and that you have no additional expenses. That's not the case.

Also people are talking about Canada but 14 Canadian Dollars is 11 USD and about £7.80 per hour.

What about rent, food travel?

The tax rate in Canada on taxable income is 15%, then 20.5% then 26% then top rate is 45.7%
There is also a 13% sales tax at the cash register and let's not forget paying for the health system through taxes just like most working countries in the West. There are probably a number of rates and taxes they pay for local amenities and the road infrastructure if they drive.

Also mansion is different from a house imho. The same way a Peugeot is different from a Porsche although they are both cars. The claim was about building mansions as the quoted comment says at the start of this thread.

I feel sorry for this poor mama. You can tell by where she lives that she was struggling a Nd not rich yet she brought up her son to manhood.

Akwa Ibom, why? First the killing of children accused of being witches now killing mothers?

Honestly, there is so much gullibility in Nigeria.

They believe any thing a pastor says. They always say 'there is a witch in the family' it's their default 'prophecy' whereas the Bible talks about the fight not being against flesh and blood.

No it isnt. Nigeria should be the most corrupt nation in Africa.

I am sure Dangote only made those statements because the deal doesnt favour his business. Whn you are as rich as Dangote, you can accuse any nation of being corrupt

No, infact there are 17 African countries now below us in the World Corruption Index

Make him go sit down,Nigeria is the most corrupt country after Romania and Pakistan.

Dangote is complaining because Kenya politicians failed to look after him like Nigerian politicians does,he always corrupt any leader that comes in.
p

Kenya has always scored low on the corruption index. They are only five places above Nigeria and for a while they were only one position above Nigeria on the corruption index.

The truth is Nigerians are hardly aware of what goes on in other African countries. They are only aware of Nigeria's corruption and don't really research before forming an opinion which they present as facts.

Dangote knows what he is talking about. Whereas maybe you've never even stepped foot in Kenya before let alone had business dealings there.

**This is my opinion.**

For such large amount to be deposited into your account, it's either your account is being use for Fraud or the mistake comes from depositor or Cashier.

**My advice**

Wait for 2 days at least or 1 week at most. If this problem comes from bank, I don't see why they won't rectify it before 24 hours. If your account is still active or the money is still there after the given time please start making plan for big money.

** NOTE**:: If you decide to alert your nearest bank, this money might not get to the owner. If those at the bank are corrupt, they might make use of this cute money cool. My brother, you will still attend court if there is problem in future cool.

**My advice**

Move this money to another bank and fix it. The interest that comes with this should be yours. And when Casala burst, you can pay that crazy bank and keep your interest. Make sure you spend the money wisely and don't compete with Gee' boys in club..

***FINALLY**

please don't let this opportunity pass you by. This opportunity comes once in a while. Be ready to attend court for that 100million. That money worth any stress you will pass through

**SOME NAIRALANDER'S WILL CALL ME CRAZY GUY. YES NIGERIA MADE ME THIS WAY. IF YOU LET OPPORTUNITY PASS YOU BY, YOUR CHANCE OF MAKING IT IS VERY SMALL tongue tongue

Noone will call you crazy, but a thief.

You're not a child so stop blaming 'Nigeria' for your criminal bias.

There are too many stories of your fellow Nigerians that returned physical cash left mistakenly in the back of their cab by passengers to the owner. They are no less Nigerian than you. I myself have witnessed people return money and property they could easily have stolen and gotten away with, in that same Nigeria.

Time to take responsibility for your own choices buddy.

If anything it's a person's upbringing and personal ethos that will dictate what they do in this situation.

So, not even your religious belief would provoke you to make a more honest decision?

I disagree with you fundamentally and your comments to an extent reflect why Nigeria and many parts of Africa are the way they are- no progress. The quest for a better life should not entail ;

A) scamming your employers;

B) exploiting their kindness;
C) Committing immigration crimes.

Where do you draw the line? You're trying to rationalize crime. This is the same line of thinking that drives politicians to loot billions, justifying their actions by convicing themselves that they aretrying to help their families. Exploiting, cheating and scamming people for selfish gain and interest.

Also, she is NOT entitled to be in England without me. She was NOT issued a tourist visa- she was issued a domestic worker visa on the basis that she would work for me in England and crucially, return to Ghana after wards. She is NOT even allowed (by law) to carry out domestic work for anyone in the U.K./ work for anyone in the U.K. other than me. It is not about ownership, I am merely stating the terms of the visa which she was granted and which were set by UK immigration authorities.

Again, the issue isn't the nanny terminating the employment relationship. She is free to terminate our employment relationship at any point, however what she is NOT entitled to do is attempt to remain in the U.K. illegally using a visa which I procured for her as her employer and which stipulates that she MUST depart U.K. with me when I am leaving. What she did was utterly selfish and wicked. We did our best to make her life comfortable in Ghana and England, why repay kindness with wickenesss for selfish gain?

I don't see how anyone can argue with the above. 100000% agree

with the money you get paid by ]the menial jobs in Europe, it can help you erect mansions in Nigeria.

Nigeria is not a country worth living in.

No, that's not true.

If you are doing menial jobs abroad and you are building mansions in Nigeria there is some illegal money making happening.

After tax and rent, food and transport there is no way mansions can be built.

If you had said nursing, fine but not menial jobs.

Even if Nigeria is not worth living in there are over 50 others on the continent people could start from with the money paid to traffickers as investment rather than a straight loss. Imagine how much money a bus load of 25 people had raised and what it could have been used to do if they had only looked at things differently instead of with rose tinted glasses, yet some would have died, became slaves or raped on the way.

And for what?

Op the pregnancy may belong to your husband and because you have been so good to her she feels extremely guilty.

Since you have helped her in addition to what's expected it makes no sense that she would run like that.

On the other hand maybe it was planned by her to get to stay abroad.

That's why some of you ladies 've fish brain. Will destroying that car restored her relationship? The ideal thing to do is to work out modalities for separation or divorce . With what she got , she can live a happy life with her kids instead of living with an unfaithful idiot called husband. With this her anger level. I put it to you that her attitude was responsible for the man seeking a better life elsewhere. She need deliverance

What makes you think she wants the relationship restored?

She should have divorced him and taken 50% of everything and asked for that car if they have children together.

it's worth it if you eventually succeed in getting to europe but note that the journey is a herculean task, out of 100people that will venture into it,about 30%will make it,40%will be end as slaves,25%will die and 5% will be wanderers in libyan territory.those 30% that made it are doing great in their respective european destination, menial jobs, some has already gotten a legal base(resident/work permit)in the country.IT'S ALL ABOUT LUCK

Do you not think the money they pay to traffickers can be better used in Africa in maybe starting a trade or business? Even going to another African country if they must leave Nigeria?

Why go through all that risking of life and abuse just to end up doing menial jobs? Even if they eventually get some form of immigration status their lack of education will keep them at the bottom in terms of jobs.

With all you have said above I, struggle to see the sense in such a perilous venture.
