PoliticsRe: Fayose Prevents The Arrest Of Johnson Suleman By DSS by Longman6(m): 9:06am On Jan 25, 2017
This is what you get when you make a former military General National security Adviser, didn't they tell the DSS officials that the man is a christian leader who has the ability to generate emotional empathy even if he is wrong..Religious induced violence are the most difficult issues to solve.. go and ask Israel, Pakistan, Iran Afghanistan etc..

Back to the issue, i see notin wrong in what the man said considering the fact that government has paid lip service to the treasurous activities of the fulani herdsmen and even promised Boko-Aram members amnestry at some point despite their crimes against humanity.

The pastor spoke out of his human feelings, do you know how many people have been killed? only Jesus performed better when peter voluntered to come against those who came to arrest him.

This government is treatened on every ground, where is that area of the society that has withnessed gowth since this administration came on board. Who is Audu ogbe to replace Akinwunmi Adeshina as minister of Agriculture?.

Fashola, Fayemi and Amachi where given ministerial portfolios to compensate thier political loyalty.

I dont like GEJ either but i give it to that man when it comes to having a consience, nobody was arrested for hearing their views, the man allowed freedom of speech to the fullest, he was go kind that he sometimes tried to explain himself..

The central bank is cut in a tight corner here theoretically : any reduction in interest rate would increase inflation rate. The economy would stabilize temporarily when oil prices go up.But in the long run we need superstars to run the monetary and fiscal policy section of the economy, not commercial bankers
RomanceRe: 5 Reasons Why Women Cheat by Longman6(m): 4:57pm On Jan 23, 2017
I really don't believe an average Nigerian lady is capable of loving a man sincerely without yielding to temptation, sometimes i pity them..the pressure is just too much for them and unfortunately we live in a generation where character isn't much of a common virtue. However i can boldly say that of all creatures on earth, women are capable of the greatest kind of Love after Gods love, it just that they reserve such love for their children..most Nigerian Girls have been battered emotionally, they have had they heart crushed at one time or the other and this has made them rationalize the love process, they unconsciously feel undeserving of real love, (the type genie nice boys offer) so they seek solace in tangible achievement and excitement which is often unsatiable.

Unfourtunately most girls cheat emotionally and not sexually, once a girl/lady starts talking to another guy more than she talks to her boyfriend, trouble is brewing,(trust boys to take advantage when the cards are down),A ladies chances of cheating is also influenced by the type of friends she keeps...

Though i might be wrong i don't believe in all this Jargon that some ladies say: "I like guys better as friends they understand me". it is usually a symptom of a lady with deep seated issues..Dont get me wrong i have noting against male-female friendships and would allow my girlfriend to express herself without restrictions but i know deep within my mind that that stuff is trash especially when its not defined.

Love is difficult to come by from both gender..if you find one...you deem lucky.Ladies who cheat have unresolved behavioral issues, ladies are emotionally stronger than men, they only do what they want to do while a guy no matter how emotional he is,contemplates...A ladys conscience is either alive or dead at a particular time, while a mans mind is never fully resolved.
EducationRe: OAU Vs UI, Which Is The Best? by Longman6(m): 9:03am On Jan 22, 2017
I find it difficult to reconcile the sayings of certain individuals here and the realities on ground. on what basis are you comparing UI and OAU?UI has a better academic calendar than OAU,UI is fast becoming a fully fledged postgraduate institution with an dmission ratio of 65% postgraduate and 36% undergraduate, No university in Nigeria can attempt this especially in a school like OAU where a lot of MR's are lecturers. May i add that the university of Ibadan has produced the highest number of PHD graduates some of whom are lecturers in OAU.

When it comes to lecturers-student ratio, i dont think i have to compare statistics here
I finished from Ui in feb 2015 and finished NYSC in April 2016, You should ask my mates who went to OAU how NYSC is coming on.

UI is so merit driven that the present Dean of the faculty of Law is a lecturer from OAU, this is in a faculty that has lots of professors. That is yet to occur in OAU, the present Dean of the faculty of pharmacy was formerly in OAU. My point? UI attracts the best without disregard for merit or selfish egos.

While it is difficult to compare the values of their research papers and level of social impact, i take refuge in the international university ranking that has consistently placed UI ahead of OAU.

OAU is hard, unnecessary stressful and too traditional but UI is has direct approach to learning, the lecturers are student friendly, you can break barriers in UI if you are brilliant.

Note: Nigeria's educational system is noting to write home about but i rather not put OAU ahead of UI, i think Covenant might beat UI few decades from now

Hello, am an advocate of free education and believe a country's growth is proportional to the quality of knowledge in its society. The nusery school has committed no crime on this two stance:
1,it is creating wealth in the society through the creation of employment and tax payment.
2 it is contributing to the value of Naira no matter how minute, imagine if those kids where studying abroad:mini capital flight.

In as much as you disagree with the outrageous fee charged you must acknowledged the fact that quality education does not come cheap, knowledge is the most potent weapon in the world today, take away knowledge from the united states and their economy would come to "zero". I wont be suprised to see that at the age of 9 this kids can speak more than 4 international language and have a positive approach to life, they would probably turn out to be well cultured and refined than their equally talented age-mates whose teachers have not been paid by the state government.

its no big deal, how much does #2million amount to in dollars? asides that knowledge is quite expensive,80 percent of past British ministers attended Elton college, that school is damm expensive, all the mark and Bill Gates of this world attended top notch secondary school.Knowledge is power, its only in this part of the world that we fail to acknowledge that...The rich folks know that.

You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. You’ve made me proud. You’ve made the country proud.

PoliticsRe: Details Of Nnamdi Kanu's Secret Trial Today by Longman6(m): 7:20pm On Jan 10, 2017
God, please change the mindset of Africans, i see noting wrong in what Kanu has done so far, the man only clamoured for independence, the chater that established the United station recognizes the right to self determination, so does the constitution recognize the right to freedom of expression. The issue was a simple one till the federal government made a violent conduct out of it. The Nigerian government has never had the moral support of the people hence military action at any instance, the same thing extends to all west African Nations who for instance are planing to millitary action just after 2 peace talks in Gambia,

It is just because we live in an unjust society where a Buhari drove out a democratically elected president through a coup is now a president in a dispensation where kanu is simply asking for independence, Boko haram members who are among st the top 4 terrorist organization in the world are being offered peace deals despite killing thousands of people and throwing an entire region into turmoil.

Am of the yoruba extraction but i strongly believe its would be so difficult for Nigeria to breakup courtesy of factors like poverty, corruption and the difficult process of splitting our national identity..Buhari should not make a martyer out of Kanu, if he makes that mistake then Nigeria is a step closer to breaking up, pakistan, Isreal and south sudan got their independence because some powerful people where killed.

Hope DSS wont arrest me!
EducationRe: Nigerian Universities That Won't Offer Law And Accounting Anymore by Longman6(m): 12:56pm On Jan 10, 2017
I dont know the person advising the Minister to take certain decisions, MIT and Imperial College London both have Business Schools, are they going outside their scope on engagement? No, Am waiting for the day we would have a minister that would initiate a policy that would make those who went to college of education serve in the NYSC program since what most corpers do is teaching.

It is this same administration backed with the morons in the senate that told universities not to conduct post Jamb, saying there was no need for it since jamb was already in place forgetting the fact that the American SAT idea they copied does allow universities to conduct post examination on students they want to admit which has more layers than the one we have in Nigeria..clueless leaders everywhere.

We really dont need to learn from developed countries in the world to kickstart Nigerias development program
1 Lagos state the smallest state in Nigeria generates the highest IGR in Nigeria
2 It is the state with the most diversified economic structure in Nigeria
3 It has shown leadership to the Nigerian society by allowing individuals from other states to win and contest elections
4 It attracts the best human capital to itself from other parts of the country
5 The Nigerian budget would probably not be approved till March, and a state is about to start implementing her own.
6 The budget size for a single state makes mockery of our national budget
7 The partnership that brought Lake Rice into play between Lagos and a northern state shown that our national leaders are simply clueless despite having more resources at their disposal.

Hello Nairalanders,
I am currently in a dilenma which i don't know what chioce to make. Currently, i am a student of yabatech, still in ND1. Due to our late resumption, i picked up another jamb and fortunately for me, i was admitted to Unilag for the same course i am studying in yabatech. I really dont know if runing the two might be good for me or leaving my ND programme for Bsc. I met with some people who have graduated and ask for advices. Some told me to run both since they are not far from each other while some told me to leave yabatech so it affect both. Up till now, i have not made a decision. I decided to come bk here and ask for your advices on what to do about this as unilag will be starting lectures fully on Monday. Your comment will be appreciated.
Thanks and God Bless.

In as much as i envy your decision to seek out better opportunities to further increase your chances in life, i find it difficult to reconcile the logic behind your dilemma and some of the funny advice you are receiving here, why go to different institutions to study the same course?if you ask me thats not reasonable at all!,if they were two different courses maybe there would have been an angle to it.

In an era where people who have MSC are siting at home, some folks are telling you ND would be of advantage!, to secure which kind of job?

You just want to put yourself into unnecessary confusion and distress at such an early age, OP why?

How would you sell your story to an HR when asked why you went ahead to complete two different degrees in the same disciple at the same time?

No truly successful person does this kind of task, successful persons stick to a path and divert when necessary not waste time pursuing unnecessary things..Go to the university stab Yaba tech
RomanceRe: 'my Boyfriend Of 4 Years Just Got Engaged' - Heartbroken Lady Shares Story by Longman6(m): 9:56pm On Jan 04, 2017
chronique:
The reason why the world is messed up, relationships are failing, marriages are crashing, infidelity is on the high, etc, is cos most people in this generation, do not want to make efforts to be responsible, but want the best things of life. I've tried doubling up just to see if it's possible to keep several partners at once but it doesn't work for me. It's difficult paying attention to your work /biz, and also paying attention to different ladies. At the end, my conscience won't let me be, I begin to wonder what excuses I'd give if caught, etc and at the end of the day, I just give up on trying to double date. I really must commend guys and girls who are good at doing this, and would love to congratulate them for contributing in the destruction of love, relationships and marriages. I'm also happy that karma has a way of dealing with people as some of these folks, usually get served in their own coins... Is there a day we don't read about infidelity on nairaland? Definitely, no. It then goes a long way to tell you how bad our society is, and then explains to you why divorces and broken homes will be on the increase in naija...

I'm a Nigerian and from experience, I can tell you that most Nigerians are not honest in so many ways but expect the best. It shows why the country is in a mess of a state. Ordinary making efforts to be in a committed relationship, Nigerians cannot; what then, can they do?
In as much as i usually avoid commenting on this section of Nairaland, i find myself unable to restrain from commending your thoughts, my views on the issues of love and betrayal centers around the culture of irresponsibility within the Nigerian society, most people did not grow up in good homes, even the seemly good homes aren't good at all, we Nigerians want the glamorous life style without working for it,a lady posted an update about surviving a virgin hunter gang leader some days ago and i noticed people applauded her for her bravery and smartness instead of asking her why she just hopped into the car of someone she just meet and was suddenly expecting to get a mobile phone of #400000 as an instant gift.

people get away with irresponsible behavior and pass a wrong message to others: an honest girl mets a guy who batters her heart and subsequently decides to stop loving forgetting that she is doing herself a lot of injustice, another man entices the girlfriend of another man without a sense of guilt,We simply have a dead conscience in this part of the world. And i see a lot of funny post on Nairaland about why it is not good to be a nice guy, please guys if you want to be successful in life be a nice guy because only irresponsible girls find nice guys repulsive, they just cant stand the aura of sanity around you, they are used to disorder, to the ladies avoid the initial excitement that comes with getting to know a bad boy, ask yourself would he stand with me and my kids when things get hard?. Give me a wife like patience Jonathan, Hillary Clinton and Mitcheel obama, you i just doubled my chances of having a successful life.

so these funds schemes and t-bills dont breed laziness too abi?
They dont, MMM is an "hallucinatory" scheme that adds nothing to the economy,it is just a continuous transfer of money among the participants,Its not an innovative scheme neither does it create value. The stock exchange, money market and Treasury Bills on the other side of the divide is governed by intrinsic value(third party evaluation), wealth is either created or reduced through a network of macro-economic factors like National productivity, exchange rate, employment rates, innovative finance and most importantly the sweats of Individuals/investors risks.MMM would bounce back in January to the amazement of the depressed souls but trust me the founder is just playing on the poverty mindset of Nigerians to sell this scheme, Ask yourself: i pay help to someone and after 30days get help from another person with a top up of 30%, and the expectation is that i inturn pay help to another persons days after.. so where is the wealth aside the temporary feeling of sudden wealth considering the fact that most people doing it are poor people who dont have the creative ability to transform that money into sustainable capital investment..
CareerRe: I Need Advice On Career Change From Medicine To Management Consulting by Longman6(m): 9:40am On Dec 22, 2016
KayTheHuman:
I just turned 26 and I'm completing my Housemanship (Internship) in less than a month.
Since I resumed Clinical years (400 Lvl and Up) in Medical School, I had lost my enthusiasm for Medicine and somehow knew that being excellent at Clinical practice was going to be difficult for me.
I graduated with average grades, and in the course of my internship, I've just been an average doctor.
I know I can easily get by with private practice as a Medical Officer, and make enough to live a basic life but living an exceptional life would be hard in Medicine.
I keep talking about being exceptional because that's the kind of life I want. I had all distinction in my O Levels, and was also in top 10 students in my class before the Clinical years.
I was involved in a number of extracurricular activities in school (from Digital Technology Projects to NGOs, etc.) some of which had significant national impact.

I had thought about options like starting a Technology Startup, or doing a Post-Graduate Degree in the Basic Medical Sciences.
But I've noticed that I like taking on big and ambitious projects, and I also easily get bored.(I don't enjoy working on a project for more than 6 months). This makes technology startup difficult, and a post graduate degree in Nigeria might also not be exciting enough to hold my attention.

I started considering Management Consulting after watching tons of McKinsey, Bain & BCG videos on youtube. It feels like a sweet spot between liking to improve your intellectual vitality, working on big ambitious projects that you can immediately start seeing the impact, and being boredom proof since there would be multiple projects at once. I've also not been satisfied with my education in Nigeria so far and I'm hoping to take an MBA top 5 Business School. Management Consulting seems like a reasonable stepping stone to that.

So overall, I'm wondering;
How easy would it be to get into consulting with an average Academic Record?
What other areas of assessment can I improve to increase my chances of getting an offer?
What are the peculiarities of Management Consulting in Nigeria? How are things different from the 'oyinbo' videos I've been watching on youtube?
What are the salaries like? What salaries can I expect as a Business Analyst?

I"ll appreciate your advice.
Thanks.
Bro your case is simple just write GRE and TOFEl, then study a course like Masters in public Health, You would need two years experience to apply to a top ranked business school, so skip that idea for now, i know a Mckinsey consultant peter Okebukola,a medical doctor who never practiced medicine beyond NYSC, today he leads Mckinseys medical consulting practice in New York , Another one Adana..went for an MSC at oxford and how works at the world bank, I could go on to tell you more like that.I attached peters profile/CV to this. check it out.You think you are good? then try to leave your comfort zone

Google search FBN quest or First Bank mutual funds, their website is self explanatory, and you can start with a minimum of #5000, while that of Stanbic IBTC is a minimum of #50000, the good thing about mutual funds is that they attract average returns with little or no risk, and you can pull out your cash at will, please note that you would not gain" as much as you would when compared to all this ponzi scheme.I would have loved to tell you about Treasury bills but do not have a first hand experience on how to go about it, but i know it is the safest and highest paying idle investment in Nigeria because you are lending the Federal government/CBN cash, it is treasury bills that pension fund administrators and Most banks invest their cash in, the interest rate is as high as 15%..The minimum amount used to be 1million but all this investment banks Like FSDH, Afrinvest and Chapel hill have a way of collecting 100000k and allowing you access the plan.

As an individual i usually don't speak against people in authority but i feel this Buhari government isn't taking proper advice
First we all know you want to increase revenue but why do that at the expense of depriving individuals access to knowledge(in case you dont know, internet has the potential to reduce illiteracy rate over time, at least individuals considered illiterates can learn about few things about through social media.
secondly this policy might slightly threaten mobile money platforms and other financial inclusion strategy.
Where in the world does government increase tax rates during recession
Does new companies should go and hire Mckinsey and BCG to help them navigate their pricing problems.
