Agbanagba1:Brother you are right, but one of the things I would look at for in a lady is her way of thinking, most guys make lot of mistake here forgetting that their wife is probably going to be the determinants od their children's life till they are probably 15, I don't want kids who would take to nairaland one day to proclaim that sex is almighty during a relationship, poverty has also affected ladies sense of self worth, |
bayooooooo:Lot of loan facilities, bro |

Vavana:My dear you have no problem, it's your conscience at work, and you are still innocent at least to some extent, girl don't go and fall for one boy's skills, if you don't feel like don't do it,and be careful of the funny things on nairaland while some advice are good, most are usually given by over eager teenagers, Sex is not love, you should ask girls that got dumped after having serial sex with their boyfriend in the name of love. |
Yes intimacy (not sex)is good in a relationship, but the way many are sounding it seems most ladies are really cheap,or they have been meeting the wrong ones, guys when you get to a certain level in life sex would be the last thing you look forward to get from your girlfriend, sex is really overrated and slightly insatiable" maximum 1hour.And maybe all of you claiming that you can't date without sex haven't met a lady who respects herself and has more to offer than sex or just a beautiful face. |
Hmmm, the difference in between is insignificant, but I see no difference between a lady who is engaged to a guy because of money and people referred to as ashawo".most ladies no longer know their worth, they prefer the excitement that bad boys give them and neglect the care and respect the so called nice guys give them, Look at women like Mitchel, Hillary Clinton, Folunsho alakija, they went for the men who gave them healthy respect and therefore prevented been compared to sluts, ladies be that woman in the book of proverbs.Who can find a virtuous woman?? |
Brother, except your uncle is speaking from a spiritual point of view, I think his advice is born out of fear, Do you know you can die before that girl? death is not programmed, and concerning you kids you can't give birth to an SS,Brother always remember this: Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.Go and beg that girl. |
I like you sweet heart, you are either starved of attention at the moment or trying to appear trendy".Have you been hurt before,? if so I think the guy who did that to you must have made a social monster out of you.Try to change |
Folks, I had six distinctions when I wrote WAEC(2010), and I believe it's actually possible for one to make A in all but my reservation are: when I got to the university I met folks with better results some of which were sent packing in their first year, some finished with a third class, I also observed during my service year in Edo state that most results are gotten through miracle centers, I even offered to coach some students for WAEC they simply told me " uncle don't worry they would help us" some students pay as much as 50k for WAEC registration.Don't get me wrong, I believe it is easy to get 9As in WAEC at least some folks abroad finished a Phd at the age of 22, but most of all the As we see are product of cheating. |
Folks, am not against anyone but have observed that those who claim to be rich aren't really rich, there are so many rich guys who don't go up and down announcing their wealth, investment bankers, Assets managers entrepreneurs etc, Do you know Nairaland is worth billions in valuation?? yet seun is relatively unknown |
Folks am a Nigerian and I believe in the Nigeria project, I know how much is been spent on the Niger delta project but my points are this: 1, The get more money than others but its still not enough, remember they literary feed this country 2 corruption is worse in the Niger Delta, scholarships are politically distributed, most militants are fighting for their own selfish interest, and they have insincere government 3 in a federal system of government the federating" unit should have access to resource control. 4 government itself is insensitive just look at the present Nnpc board, it is full of Nigerians from the HAUSA extraction, in a normal society no problem but in this Nigeria its a cause of fear. 5 Awolowo built Oau, cocoa house, bodija housing estate, offered free Education, didn't make IRemo his town capital of the old western region, neither did he build a university there, he did all this with just cocoa money, Folks our problem is not tribalism neither is it about resources rather it is about bad. leaders, we all don't ask them to be responsible, have you ever watched a US presidential debate?? |
seunakin231:Best Advice, no need for schooling just do some private reading and brush up your skills. |
I think this would not solve the problem, but am indeed happy for the poly guys, government got it all wrong with the establishment of poly, what should have been obtainable is to make technical oriented degrees only accessible in poly, where it becomes impossible to study Engineering in conventional universities, and everyone comes out with a BSC, just like MIT and caltech, including imperial college..if this plan falls through we all should get ready for a classification of universities in Nigeria by prospective employers. |
Dear Mr. Odutola,
I think it will be an exceeding saving of time and
more business-like if I avoid all sweet preliminaries
and go straight into the object of this letter and say
that I am writing to ask you to be good enough to
lend me a sum of £1,400 (One thousand and four
hundred pounds) free of interest for twelve years.
It is a staggering figure! More staggering indeed
does it become, when it is realised that I, who am
asking for this loan, have nothing in all the world to
give as a security for this money, excepting my good
faith and my brains which again are of value only so
long as I continue to breathe the breath of life!
Nevertheless, I here proceed to outline in brief why I
want this big loan from you. And I hope you will be
kind enough to sacrifice some time to go through
what I have to say, even though , in the end you
might find yourself unable to do me this grand
favour.
One great ambition of mine since my boyhood days is
to be a lawyer, a politician and a journalist, rolled
into one. I cherish politics and journalism as a
career. ; and I desire advocacy as a means of
livelihood. For you will agree with me that a politician
or journalist who has no money with which to support
himself and family comfortably ,is like a blade which
has no razor.
Now, at one time, I was on the verge of making
enough money with which I could proceed to England
in order to pursue the object of my ambition; but I
suffered a twist in my fortune, and I crashed. Ever
since, I have tried without success to recover lost
grounds, financially. But spiritually and
intellectually, I have made appreciable advance in
spite of towering difficulties, all of which have now
been surmounted.
As you are aware, I have just passed the
intermediate Bachelor of Commerce Examination. Next
year, I am taking the final B.Com. Having a degree is
not my goal; I hate to be a government or mercantile
employee. Otherwise, there are opportunities for me
here and there to get a suitable and well paid job
under government or one of the mercantile houses.
As you know, however, once I become an employee of
government or a mercantile establishment that is the
end to my career as a politician and journalist. I
have therefore resolved that under no circumstances
will I take up such employment.
That is just by the way. I am now thirty-four years
of age. After careful thought, I have come to the
conclusion that if I could raise a loan free of
interest sufficient to cover expenses , I should go to
England , this year and within three years, I should
qualify as a Barrister –at –law, and also obtain with
Honours the LL.B Degree of London University. In
addition this degree apart from giving me good
backing as a solicitor and Advocate will help me
immensely as a politician and journalist.
But where on earth could i get the money? Who in
Nigeria today could give £1400 free of interest to
help his fellow-man? J.Henry Doherty, Esq., of
illustrious memory who did the like to many
successful Nigerians is no more. But after
meticulous, shifting and weighing, I hit upon you.
I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that out of
the bounty with which providence blesses your grit
and efforts as a businessman, you can well easily
afford to advance such a sum of money. I have no
doubt too that as a young and progressive man you
will be quite happy to give the money for the pursuit
of the project for which I desire it.
But then, could you take this risk?
That is the question. As I have said before, I have no
security for this loan. Moreover, I want it free of
interest. So that you stand to gain absolutely
NOTHING in the whole transaction ,except the
satisfaction that by helping me to achieve my
ambition you are indirectly or even directly helping
Nigeria or even Africa.
This risk becomes greater when it is borne in mind
that I might die in the course of my studies or
immediately after , so that, since I have no security
or surety, you stand the chance of losing not only
the money but also the satisfaction which you may
cherish that you are contributing to the uplift of
Africa. It is indeed a great risk; the greatest any
man ever embarks upon.
But, this is a big BUT, if I live, as I have no doubt I
will do, you will not only get your money back in full,
but you will , to the end of your days , have cause to
rejoice that you have done one of the most
outstanding and most philanthropic acts any human
being ever does. Among other things, I shall make
excellent use of the money while in England by
breaking records in my examination. On my return to
Nigeria, I shall strive to be one of the foremost
advocates, politicians and writers in West Africa, and
while I do all these, I shall make it a point not only
to pay your money back in full, but also to repay your
kindness and generosity towards me in every way I
can.
All the same, it is a big risk! So , Sir, I like you to
think seriously about it, and see if you can take it in
the interest of a young man who has brains ,industry
and determination to back his ambition , but lacks
the money. I know we have never been close friends,
but I have a shrewd idea that you may take the risk
and help me.
On this assumption, therefore, I proceed to the next
and last stage of this letter.
I shall not require the whole £1,400 in a lump sum.
To start with, you will help me pay a sum of
£208-13s-3d to the Inner Temple. I have already
received an application form from this Inn of Court;
and from the details forwarded, I gather that the
sum of £208-13s-3d will cover all the cost of
training as a Barrister, examination fees excluded.
When I am ready to sail, you will advance me a sum
of £100 to cover passage, provision for my family and
any other incidental expenses( NOTE: If i got
torpedoed on the way, you would certainly lose this
£100 but you will recover the £208-13s-3d).
At the same time you will remit to a London Bank the
sum of £491-6s-9d. It is out of this amount that I
shall pay the university fees for LL.B course a, and
for special courses in political science and journalism,
when I land in England. This is to say, the initial
advance will total £800.
At the end of the first year, provided I make
satisfactory progress in my studies, you will give
instruction to the bank to honour all cheques from
me drawn on this account. There will be an
arrangement to be signed by me on my return.
On my return, I shall require TWO years within which
to establish a solid practice and build a good
reputation. After these two years, I should commence
to pay at least £200 per annum either in monthly,
quarterly or annual payments. So that in seven years
after the first two years, I should pay back the
whole sum of £1,400. That will be TWELVE YEARS
from the time you help me to pay this in April or so
this year, then I should be due to pay the whole of
£1400 by April 1955.
Now, as you yourself will see, this is the farthest
limit within which I can pay the money. It may be
possible for me to pay the money within THREE to
FIVE years of my return. As a matter of fact, the
sooner I pay it off, the better. But it is much better
to be on the safe side in a matter like this. It is no
making promises now which will be difficult to fulfil in
future. On the contrary it is better to mention a
period of twelve years and pay within SIX or EIGHT
years than to mention FIVE YEARS and fail to pay
within TEN years. Personally, I prefer that I should
fail to get the loan under theses unattractive but
sure conditions, rather than succeed in getting it
under attractive but precarious conditions.
Now, this is all I have to say. You have my request
before you, and the reason why I make the request.
It is left to you to decide whether it is worthwhile to
take the risk of helping me in the manner outlined
above or not.
If you do me the great favour, not only myself and
all that are mine, but also God and Africa will be
grateful, I shall have no cause whatsoever to grumble
or to blame you, FOR THE RISK IS GREAT.
Since this is a very selfish request, I enclose
herewith a stamped addressed envelope for a reply to
be sent to me under registered cover.
With very kind regards.
Yours sincerely,
(Sgd) Obafemi Awolowo |
Folks have read lot's of African literature, and don't seem to fancy foreign writers but when I read: paul cohen the alchemists,I knew I might have read the best book I would ever read...has anyone tried it?? |
I understand where you are coming from especially with your feelings, dating someone for more than 3years one might tend to lose the glamour but girl, love isn't that good chil that runs through one's mind, take for instance when you got admitted to university, you were so excited and all but as day turned into months you lost that initial excitement and got used to the routine of schooling.Go and ask your mom,she no longer feels the hormonal love she once had for your dad, rather she is more concerned about the character of your dad, love is patient and the soul of this world would test everything including our will.Don't make this boy know that he can do without you(He can)He is still innocent.if you leave him you will get the excitement you want but it would only lead you through a series of hearbreaks, Define loyalty? |
malosky79:brother TsA isn't that good for a developing economy, have explained why in an earlier comment, you can check it,and do you think the government is supposed to be the highest employer of labor in a sane evonomy, just imagine how many jobs Facebook,Twitter, google,Microsoft,Amazon, and LinkedIn has added to the US Economy..and that's just the IT sector alone o |
While the introduction of TSA is a good move to reduce corruption,it has created a problem in the banking sector as,accounts have been closed, money available for banks to transact business has also reduced, interest that would have been generated is been lost as the TSA is just a dommant"account.Again can anyone help us tell buhari that the focus on Agriculture is just too myopic, the world has moved beyond that stage, industrialization, and a service based economy is the key,The operating profit of google and Amazon in 2015 would fund Nigeria's budget conveniently..The government should also focus on Education and research, the world is now knowledge driven. |
The national assembly is full of evil individuals, how can you be diverting public funds when your allowances are just enough to take care of your basic needs for like, and the average Nigerian is struggling to survive.Folks some individuals don't even have water in Nigeria,we just have selfish people up there, who don't care,is this a product of a selfish society??But let us face it,this corruption scandal is as a result of fall out with the initial Gbajamiamila speakership failure. |
We thought obasanjo was the guy, many gave Good luck Jonathan the benefit of doubt to rule Nigeria while Yaradua was seen as a clear case of imposition,at last we had Buhari who promised to change the whole system,a year into governance the misery continues,my subjective opinion is that Nigerians deserve the leaders they get,how can a president promise to deliver positive results by just listing his intentions, without explaining how he intends to go about it, why didn't we ask the governor who promised to deliver the dividends of democracy how he intends to go about it asides funds from the federation account? What kind of electorate are we,?? |
let's be sincere all this local ranking aren't worth celebrating,Nigeria's education system is down, great research going on in some schools" but,no practical dividend to show for it, Folks I finished from Ui,but I think if government does not increase spending in Education five years from now, covenant university is going to be the nation's pride.Either ways it is not going to be bad news. |

Sexytemi:what kind of novels do you like?African or foreign? |
The reality of the Nigerian society is telling on every aspect of life not excluding relationships,on a normal day spending money should not be an issue in and after a relationship, but because most people have had bad experiences in the past or heard about people who have, everybody" is unconsciously trying to be careful of spending, which makes them practice excessive economy in spending and affection.because nobody knows who is who,Real love I would say don't get scared of spending,Hillary Clinton was taking care of more of the finances before marrying Bill, but poverty in Nigeria has made love difficult.people value the money they spend than the affection they share. What's love if not companionship,? |
At any rate I hope the story is really friction" but what is wrong with we youths, sex is becoming more important than normal,Don't get me wrong I look forward to having great sex with my wife but I bet it when the children comes, when we both have to chase our goals, when the need to hold our hands through tick and thin comes, cuddling, companionship, smiles joyfully" shared tears" would mean more than the lustful passion of sex..Example if your mum or dad is around 4o+years, they become more interested in guiding you through life, seeing you getting married, getting each others respect |
mimzy:Pardon my manners ms,I know you had a good day sweetie. just wanted to paint your sky with stars tonight.would I be allowed |
