Earlier this week, someone wrote here on Nairaland that "Nigerians don't hate corruption, we only hate when we are not the ones directly perpetrating it".

That said, politicians are corrupt, bankers are corrupt, civil/public servants are corrupt, security agencies are corrupt, political appointees are corrupt, oil marketers are corrupt, business men are corrupt, etc.

Let's talk about the petty traders, artisans and self-employed like the POS operators, anyone wants to rip everyone else off at any given opportunity. We complain about corruption but we also aid and abet corruption.

Today, it's the bankers and POS operators smiling and having a field day, tomorrow is for the oil marketers and the black marketers, next tomorrow is for the immigration officers and their street agents who will rip you off before you can get an international passport, the next day is for public servants who are always seeking ways to siphon public funds or are lackadaisical in service delivery because they believe they are more important than the general public whom they are meant to serve. The next day is for the police, military and paramilitary agencies who are either trying to extort the average Nigerian through bribery, colluding with oil vandals and/or criminals to loot the nation's resources, requesting for "mobilization fees" before helping to apprehend a criminal, pursue justice or even attend to a petition. Then the politicians will form an unholy alliance with the public servants to divert public funds, fund terrorism, banditry and criminality for their selfish interests and personal aggrandizement.

Another day is for the religious leaders, another for the petty traders. Even the corporate businesses like the telcos and the banking institutions are systematically stealing from their customers through hidden, ridiculous and frivolous charges.

As far as Nigeria is concerned, it's a dog-eat-dog society. Actually, it's the way the world is wired but for the fact that some countries have managed to instill discipline by force or by setting in place active systems to curtail human greed. But here, nobody cares. It is a nation of impunity where only the poorest of the poor and the uninfluential face justice.

To conclude, let me borrow someone's analogy about Nigeria. Nigeria is like a fan whose oscillator (mechanism of even wealth distribution) is broken and therefore cannot offer air (equal opportunities) to everyone except those who manage to stand in front of it (the politicians, the corrupt public servants, the greedy businessmen and contractors, the shady security officials, opportunists and beneficiaries of terrorism, banditry and sundry crimes). Instead of us to all come together and find a way to fix this fan's oscillator, we are all struggling to get in front of this fan.

I have stopped praying for Nigeria. Nigeria will be better and great if we all allow it to.

This is clearly my opinion. I did not quote anybody nor oppose anyone. If you are benefitting from the systemic corruption and therefore think you can quote me to share a nonsense contrary opinion, GOD WILL PUNISH YOU!!!!!!

My broda you have said it all...if it benefits you then is cool but if is not then is corruption.Someone once told me the problem of Africa is that we don't love ourselves but pretend to love ourselves..Even if peter obi wins he needs to change the judicial system of the country ie No one should be above the law whether rich or poor that's why these western world are working

I can't tell for Atiku or Obi but if Tinubu wins next year general elections,e nor go funny for everybody whether rich or poor.Sometimes I wonder what they do with all this money they steal.At the end one of their children fall into a big man child sickness that sucks this ill gotten wealth(That senator for example and that's the one we all know for now).The westerners will always be better than us(which is a lie ) except we collectively choose or make the kind of decisions they make.If am given the opportunity to lead this country you see politics,politician I will make it look less lucrative and focus on health, education,electricity, agriculture (where is our cocoa,rubber,timber,grains,coconut,palm,pineapples etc),manufacturing,fat pay for civil servants,doctors u just name it...To achieve this Nigerians also needs to change their mindset about Life...Thank you for reading I know say e nor go fit work that's why suffer go dey Wella and I repeat whether rich or poor

Peter obi will emerge as the president if only he has a strong Northerner as his VP.If the merger between LP and NNPP doesn't work out as we hope for then it will be either Tinubu or Atiku.But am hoping it works out though because to be sincere many Nigerians are tired and the only people not tired are those benefiting from APC or PDP and the movement is about the betterment of all Nigerians not just some few selected Nigerians only.2023 will be an interesting year

Vegetable soup ( water leaf 50), ugu/pumpkin (5 for 200 asaba), meat 200. Of course every reasonable person should have always have a reserve of Maggi/ pepper/ grinded crayfish. .Total cost for this healthy blood giving meal is 450.

Though this system of saving money have been here for long now but most people shun away from it and I don't know why...I was also a victim of this neglect not until this year when I thought about it and am amazed how much I have been able to save even without knowing the actual figure but for a start I know is encouraging....Save box..give it a trial even if you are a career person or business person even if is as low as #500 or more daily or in two days you will be suprised how much it will amount to in just a month or in a year...Thanks

We only started counting all over, that's where AD started, so we didn't start from year one(AD) the way you put it o. We started long long long long looong ago before 'year one'.

I believe we started from year 1.....now is year 2021..and there are so many things we don't really know as humans....I doubt if anyone living now we live up to 3021...and come 3021 those living by then will be told about covid 19 and they will doubt it...There are so many things that is hidden in this world that we don't know and can't know but the Westerners have a clue because they are researchers and they keep records....I strongly believe humans lived in the 200 or 1300....I once googled the history of marijuana and I was amazed the year I saw....

Armed robbers are smiling already to come out in full force, to steal, kill, rape and destroy Nigerians, in every part of the country.
What I want is for the biased officers among SARS to face serious repercussions for their crimes, not stopping them outrightly. These same armed robbers and fraudsters are the one supporting the outright ban of Special Anti Roberry Squad, and not serious punishment that will deter other officers from doing the same. (The same fraudsters that will resort to stealing and armed robbery if their maga refused to pay anymore, they will resort to crime to keep up with their flashy lifestyle). For every 10 good arrest of robbers and criminals that we see on Nairaland everyday , there must be one killing of innocent people by the bad eggs among them. Cutting off the head is not the solution to headache.
If SPECIAL ANTI ROBBERY SQUAD is banned instead of serious punishment for the bad officers involved, Nigerians should get ready for the aftermath, I am only sorry for the good and innocent people that will be affected, many that will be robbed, raped, beaten and stabbed and they look back and regret the day they support END Special ANTI ROBBERY SQUAD in Nigeria!

Though it would really affect lots of Nigerians but it's the right thing.

I wish the FG can remove fuel subsidy then make electricity steady. Car owners won't feel it, it's business owners that will, alot of businesses waste millions yearly on fuel that money could have been used for sth else

...what is the per capital income of an average Nigerian?what is the minimum wage of an average Nigerian?just like you rightly said is there steady electricity?these are some of the things to consider before taking certain decisions if really a particular govt cares about it's citizen......

These men were the major problems we are currently facing in this country...they knew the right thing to do but they didn't do it rather looted which was the foundation of this supposed great country....so looting and embezzling will always continue in Nigeria no matter how we try because leadership is like a circle in Nigeria...it rotates round that particular circle...when it deviates from that circle that's when we will have a good Nigeria and it will take so many decades (say 100 years from now ).........I love Nigeria...

This whole thing will soon be over.....it will definitely be a story to tell in time to come.....Though is iffy here in Nigeria but the illness is real..Leaders want to cash out small first....

This country self how come we only have Northerners in power....Our leaders are failures.The one when dey pain pass be say they do travel and see how the Western world do things but still can't do things rightly in Nigeria...na the youths go make this country work....We need a president of 45-55years of age...that knows what it means to be hungry without no hopes....That's the state some Nigerians are right now....
