2. About the north, I am glad you mention that you advocate for education and that you mentioned that in education the north is under-represented (this is only amongst certain set of people). As an educated individual , where do you think this almajiri's come from - is it the rural areas in the north or the more developed areas in the north, have you been to the north or have someone work in the education system in the north. the nigerian education system itself is ineffective and this is not only in the north. Your claims that the east gets high grade in exams but you ignore the fact that exam malpractice and all manner of runs in educational institutions is quite present in eastern schools. I happened to take my NYSC in delta state camp , though I was posted to Lagos several years ago - they where several students from eastern nigeria with commendable degree's who could not construct simple sentences or fill forms properly - one of these students did not know where that taraba state in part of Nigeria.

Lets not debate on the issue of the east good grades in education we know most of them are compromised that is not to say easterners do not have brilliant students and also have higher national averages in the education.

2. The quota system does not promote one student over the other - the quota system ensure's equal opportunity. What you suggest is certainly unethical - every individual has a right to education and one region - though has more intelligent students should not deny another region from enjoying that right to education, simply because they have better grades, better schools or better teachers, resources are not infinite hence provisions must be made to protect and provide for the under-served/underrepresented .Also note, I doubt this quota system is in effect in state owned institutions . The quota system is used in several developed countries - in the US it's called affirmative action. Hello fellow nairalanders I posted this cause I really need to come to terms with my computing needs I'm in my 200L in school studying geology and I really need candid advice on a laptop to get to suit my Needs and my pocket ....m for the macbook I know stuff from apple are always expensive and what not but I got a great deal from a friend for less than 90k, I have always loved the smooth tech apple dishes out never really had the chance to experience it one on one , but I also love the specs on the lenovo g50_70. So I'm really hanging here I need pro advice please help me out ................... Thank you

All I can say is dont get a mac book becos its cool. If it breaks its going to cost you to fix it. Its not like a windows machine where the parts are easy to find - charges cost less than 2K a mac charger is within 15 - 20 K last time I checked.

I dumped windows and mac - am running on ubuntu simply because i dont to pay for the license and ubuntu works as better and uses less resources just not that use friendly.

I would advice you to get the windows machine. It should much better than a mac - i dont think a mordern mac machine - even used could be sold at 90K - For 90 K you can get a high end brand new windows machine in the states that performs just a good as any mac - runs every software, has a large range of free applications or paid.
