ferari90:OBJ. HAS MADE IT CLEAR, IF JUNE 12 ELECTION HAS NOT BEEN ANNULLED BY IBB, THEY WOULD HAVE NOT PUT HIM THERE AS A COMPENSATION TO SOUTH-WEST, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE ZONING OBJ GOT TO POWER THROUGH NORTHERNER TO EASE THE GRIEF OF JUNE12. IF THERE IS ZONING INDEED, NO NORTHERNER SHOULD HAVE CONTEST 2ND TERM WITH HIM, BUT THEN YOU SEE ATIKU AND THE REST OF THEM. ZONING SIMPLY MEANS THERE WOULD BE ONLY ONE GE0-POLITICAL ZONE AS ALL ASPIRANT OF ALL PARTY AND THAT HAS NEVER HAPPEN IN 2003. WHAT IS SIMPLE MAN AGREEMENT THAT ENSLAVE THE CITIZEN IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY. |

A pressure group, Arewa Citizens Action for Change, over the weekend, filed a suit against the National Assembly at a Federal High Court in Abuja, protesting the statements credited to President Goodluck Jonathan on the October 1 bomb explosion in Abuja. The group asked the court for an order of mandamus to compel the National Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Jonathan. The motion exparte is brought pursuant to Order 34 Rule 3(2) of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure) Rules 2009, Section 5 and 6 of EFCC Act 2004 and the inherent jurisdiction of the court. The palintiff, Usman Salihu, who sued for himself and on behalf of the group said the President’s handling of the bomb explosion was capable of painting Nigeria and Nigerians bad in the international arena. They supported the application by a four-paragraph verifying affidavit deposed to by Salihu, who is the National Chairman of ACAC. They also expressed surprise that Jonathan cleared the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) in the complicity, even after the militant group had claimed responsibility. He petition state, “That Mr. President’s statement over the October 1, 2010 bomb blast is capable of polarizing the country; “The President in his reaction to the bomb blast said “he knows those who were behind the dastardly act.” Salihu is contending that such reaction by the President was “capable of exonerating the prime suspects that claimed responsibility. He also averred, “That the statement was nothing but pre-empting the investigations by the security agencies and thereby the possibilities of contradicting their findings. “That Mr. President’s act is capable of soiling Nigeria and Nigerians in the international arena. “That only the National Assembly by virtue of Section 143 of the 1999 Constitution has the power of initiating impeachment proceedings against the president.” , Pro-Jonathan group wants Ciroma arrested Kunle Olasanmi, Abuja The call by the Northern Elders and Political Forum (NEPF) for the resignation of President Goodluck Jonathan within seven days or face impeachment has received the condemnation of the Congress for Equality and Change, a group loyal to the 2011 presidential ambition of Jonathan. The organization described the NEPF call led by Mallam Adamu Ciroma, “as clear evidence of admission of defeat and manifestation to destabilize the polity and preempt the results of the 2011 election.” The Chairman of the group, Senator Ameh Ebute, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja regretted that Mallam Ciroma who was unable to curtail the activities of Boko Haram in his domain was now spearheading those calling the resignation of the President to cause chaos. Ameh, a Senator in the aborted Third Republic said, “Threatening Mr. President to resign within seven days or be impeached is to say the least, clearly a treasonable felony. It is unfortunate that Mallam Adamu Ciroma who has been in government since the birth of this country does not know the grounds on which the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria can be impeached. “It is clearly mischievous to feign lack of knowledge of the grounds for impeachment. His comments are treasonable and the security agencies know the consequences of treason. We hope the security agents are alive to their responsibilities to keep these unpatriotic elements in check.” He said further, “Such wicked acts of terrorism by misguided miscreants was being exploited and mischievously manipulated by the likes of Adamu Ciroma to score cheap popularity and overheat the polity, thereby threatening the nation’s corporate existence.” Ebute described the Adamu Ciroma-led group as recycled politicians and called on the National Assembly to ignore them. I am waiting to face prosecution, Kaita dares FG Ted Odogwu, Kano The former governor of the old Kaduna State, Alhaji Lawal Kaita, has reacted to the comment by the Director-General of the President Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organization, Senator Dalhatu Tafida, that Kaita might face prosecution for making inflammatory statements. Kaita, during a telephone interview with the Nigerian Compass over the weekend, stated that he is not scared of anybody, as long as his actions and utterances are not in breach with the provisions of the constitution, which respects freedom of expression and opinion. It will be recalled that about three weeks ago, Kaita had said that the North would make the country ungovernable for Jonathan if he won the 2011 presidential election. And, in reacting to that statement, Tafida was quoted by some national newspapers as saying that the Federal Government would institute charges of conspiracy and treasonable felony against Kaita for allegedly inciting the North against the rest of the country over the controversial zoning policy of the PDP. Kaita, who is a major stakeholder in the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has been a principal antagonist of Jonathan’s ambition to contest the 2011 election on account of the zoning of the presidency to the North till 2015 by the PDP. He said, “There is no way the North will accept Jonathan or any other Southerner as Nigeria’s President in May 29, 2011. Should that happen, the North will make Nigeria ungovernable for Jonathan, because as far as we in the North are concerned, it is not his turn or the turn of the South to give Nigeria President in 2011. “Anything short of a Northern president is tantamount to stealing our presidency. Jonathan has to go and he will go, even if he uses the incumbency power to get his nomination on the platform of the PDP, he would be frustrated out. “If stating the obvious has been interpreted as a constitutional breach, then I am ready to face the action. I am around and waiting to be picked up.” No justification for Abuja bomb blasts – Princewill Lateef Ibrahim, Abuja The governorship candidate of the Action Congress (AC), in Rivers State during the 2007 elections, Prince Tonye Princewill, has condemned the last Friday’s bomb explosions in Abuja, describing it as sad and unfortunate. Princewill, who is now a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, pointedly declared that there was no justification whatsoever for the wicked and callous act that sent no fewer than ten persons to their untimely graves with several others badly injured lying in their hospital beds. In a statement by his Media Consultant, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, yesterday, he said “I hereby condemn, unequivocally, the bomb blasts that rocked Abuja during the golden jubilee independence celebration of the nation. It is sad and unfortunate. “My heart goes out to the innocent victims of Nigeria’s dirty laundry washed in the full glare of the international public and to those whose loved ones were killed in the bomb blasts in Abuja yesterday. “There is no justification whatsoever for that dastardly act. We should learn to see dialogue as the route for settling whatever differences we may have. We should all ponder that engagement rather than brute force is the pre-requisite for peace and only then can we secure much needed development. Be it in the Niger Delta or Nigeria as a whole.” http://www.compassnewspaper.com/NG/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68584:abuja-bomb-blast-arewa-group-sues-jonathan&catid=43:news&Itemid=799 |

Posted by Bala Hassan on Oct 07 2010 The truth is always hard to believe, i am from North and it is true that we love to bury the Truth. What the Nigerians want to hear from Goodluck is lies. It is better he choose the way of the truth. Say it and say it loud, people will say what they like. TRUTH is TRUTH. HE is the head of the security in Nigeria, for those who said he should have waited for the result to come out. He is communication well and getting upto date information better than any person in Nigeria now. He is truly incharge, so no point t discredit him or say he is not capable. The problem is in us as Nigerian who dont want to believe truth. The Truth is that those who set the bomb are the people who are using it against the president. No doubt, we must learn to accept the truth and not to praise evil. I am worried that we are jumping into issues like people that never set eyes on the 4 walls of a school. Allow the president to tell us what actually happens http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5627275-146/government_asks_me_to_implicate_north.csp |
Street Journal can authoritatively reveal that these are not the best of times for former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa. Troubles and controversies seem to have a way of getting themselves attached to him. As a result of his activities during his time as the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Aondoakaa has been barred from entering the United States. A Federal High Court in Calabar also recently ruled that the embattled lawyer stands banned from holding public office. The ruling was based on a lawsuit brought before the court by a petitioner who claimed that Mr. Aondoakaa violated the creed of democracy by corruptly impeding the judgment of the court in an election case. Street Journal has gathered that The Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has suspended the former Attorney General of the Federation as a "Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)," pending investigations over a petition submitted by the Committtee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR). The Committee had requested that he should be removed as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. |

A former leader of the Nigerian militant group Mend has been arrested in connection with two blasts on Friday in Abuja which killed 12 people. Henry Okah was arrested in South Africa, said Nigerian intelligence agency spokeswoman Marilyn Ogar. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan labelled the attackers "terrorists" who pretended to be fighting for a cause. The State Security Service confirmed it had been warned by foreign intelligence services that an attack was imminent. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend), which says it is fighting for a fairer distribution of Nigeria's oil wealth, said it carried out the car bombings not far from the official celebrations. Mr Jonathan, who is himself from the Niger Delta, dismissed Mend's attempts to link the bombings with poverty in the delta region. "It has nothing to do with the Niger Delta. These are terrorists," he told reporters after visiting victims in hospital. He said people "use the name of Mend to camouflage criminality and terrorism". Continue reading the main story Nigeria at 50 Learning peace Blog round-up Nigeria's influence around Africa What does Naija mean? It was earlier reported that Mr Jonathan said Mend had not carried out the attacks, but his comments were later clarified by news agencies. Mr Okah told the BBC on Friday his group was not responsible. The BBC's Caroline Duffield in Lagos says Mr Okah has barely been heard of outside Nigeria, but within the country he is notorious. Mend signed an agreement with the government last year, in which former fighters were offered an amnesty and small amounts of cash in return for handing in their weapons. Our correspondent says Mr Okah, known as the gunrunner of Mend, is widely believed to lead a splinter group opposed to the amnesty. His friends expect him to be charged on Monday. Continue reading the main story Analysis Martin Plaut BBC Africa analyst Mend said the bombings were to "draw attention to the plight of the people of the Niger Delta". However, Mend leader Henry Okah, who lives in South Africa, denies involvement. His house was raided by the police early on Thursday. "They informed me that they were acting on the instance of the Nigerian government, which had petitioned the South African government that I was manufacturing bombs in my home and my home was a warehouse for weapons which I was shipping to the Niger Delta," Mr Okah told the BBC. The British Foreign Office issued warnings to all travellers to Nigeria. Clearly there were straws in the wind that the intelligence services were aware of. Mend sent a warning shortly before the blasts, saying "several explosive devices have been successfully planted in and around the venue by our operatives working inside the government security services". It added: "There is nothing worth celebrating after 50 years of failure. For 50 years, the people of the Niger Delta have had their land and resources stolen from them." Mend later accused officials of acting "irresponsibly by ignoring our forewarning". British dignitaries stayed away from Friday's parade marking 50 years of Nigerian independence, raising questions about how much foreign intelligence services knew about threats to the event. The UK Foreign Office confirmed it had "received indications of a heightened security risk" and took immediate action to update travel advice after the Mend warning on Friday morning. The Queen's representative, the Duke of Gloucester, had been scheduled to attend the parade but did not do so. His office declined to comment on why he withdrew. Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown also did not attend. Amnesty Since the Nigerian government and Mend signed an amnesty agreement last year, incidents of violence and kidnapping in the Delta have fallen. However, many fighters complain the government has failed to deliver its end of the deal. Oil production has increased since the amnesty came into effect - from about 1.6 million barrels a day to about two million. Most of Mend's attacks have targeted pipelines and supply terminals in the south. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-11460188 |

This things always baffles me, when Pakistan was flooded i know how much Nigeria government donated to Pakistan, what about Hait and a lot not to mention, now Jigawa has been flooded, where is UN, USA and the rest of the world for relief.I'm tired of our government follow-follow of western relief effort. Flood victims sleep by roadsides in northern Nigeria By Susan Njanji (AFP) – 5 hours ago HADEJIA, Nigeria — They sleep where they can, the men seeking dry spots on roadsides, women and children piling into houses still standing as huge numbers of displaced return to flood-hit villages in Nigeria's north. In the daytime, they dig through mud that used to be their homes to find anything salvageable. Fishermen work the floodwaters surrounding marooned villages while children swim nearby. "It has been hard," said Musa Ibrahim, who has two wives, nine children and three grandchildren. "I'm begging my brother not only for food, but for shelter. He has given me one room and I am sleeping there with my whole family." Officials in Jigawa state say two dams opened last month caused flooding that displaced scores of people and destroyed huge swathes of farmland, and they have heavily criticised the agency in charge of the barriers. The local government initially put the number of displaced at two million. Governor Sule Lamido now says they have a better handle on the situation and estimate two million people were affected, with 50,000 families homeless. The dam agency denies its flood gates in Kano state, which neighbours Jigawa, caused the disaster, saying heavy rains were to blame. Whatever the cause, the disaster has added to flood misery that had already hit large areas of the north of Africa's most populous nation. Entire villages have been swept away in some parts of the region. Many of the displaced had been sleeping in a school in a dry area, but they have returned to their villages to salvage what they can. A Red Cross official said there were sometimes up to 40 people sleeping in two rooms. Thousands of mud-and-pole houses caved in when the waters hit. In Jigawa state alone, officials say the waters destroyed villages over an area 120 kilometres (75 miles) long and 15 kilometres wide. In one village, Mohammed Auwal said he and his family were struggling for food and shelter. He and his four brothers have 44 children, and all their homes collapsed. Neighbours have offered temporary shelter. At another, at least 25 mothers and scores of children were squeezed into nine rooms. Their husbands were sleeping along the fringes of a highway outside since there was not enough space for them. Binta Ousman, 60, threw her hands into the air as she described how the floods hit her village one August night. "It started around 5:00 pm and we put up sandbags thinking it's the usual build-up of water we are used to in the rain season, but around 11:00 pm it came as a sudden gush and flooded all this place," said Ousman. Drinking water wells have also been been contaminated and aid agency officials fear disease outbreaks in the northern region already ravaged by a cholera epidemic last month. Flood misery has also hit Nigeria's northwestern corner, where a dam burst earlier this month. Local chiefs told aid workers in Sokoto state that 40 people were killed in the rush of water, but the number has not been confirmed. Sokoto state authorities say more than 30 villages were inundated and more than 130,000 residents displaced. The flooding from the dam also hit an estimated 150 villages in neighbouring Kebbi state, killing seven people and displacing over 200,000 others, an official of the state?s environment ministry said. On Monday in Kararar Rima village, white turbaned Muhammad Fodio gathered his flowing robe to his knees and inspected his demolished home for the first time in three weeks. "We have lost over 300 homes and over 2,000 people have been displaced," the village chief told AFP. "But nothing is more painful than the loss of five members of my community, although I lost all that I owned, including my home." http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5iguvcTEOiu7FW6ptKz_UKMeKNOgQ?docId=CNG.df9e6a188a034ac23300ab0760b91861.8f1 |

When a girl reaches 30yrs the fertility rate of the egg reduces, so if she get delay she might not be able to get enough kids as she wants, the early the better for the eggs to be fertile for reproduction. Without that, no other implications. |
