"Jose thinks!!" huh Hmmm thats a first, but to bad WORLD GREATEST is not given based on the recommendations of managers let alone a manager like Maureen tongue

As a Nigerian, I wish Mikel well, but i keep saying that all the praise should be left till the end of the season, when we see how he adapts to the fast pace of the priemeirship. and with the "win at all cost" mentality of the Russian army.

Once again i still feel he would have developed better under the tutorlage of Sir Alex, but what do i know, Jose might just get the best of him out with his boot camp tactics or should that be GODFATHER TACTICS, I

Ha ha i am just loving today,

FUNNIES
England midfielder Frank Lampard topped a Yahoo! poll of sports flops following his country's disappointing World Cup campaign, despite having more shots than anyone else. Ex-England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson and striker Wayne Rooney were second and third. (Daily Express)

From:http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/5237196.stm

I thought that was supposed to be Henry, well i guess the people have spoken, 21-24 shots and not a single goal, so many blanks if i was Mrs. Lamps i would be worried cheesy

Anyway Lamps has twins so i guess ain't no problem scoring in that department, now where did i see more interesting articles on Chelski!? huh

LESSON 1: when a manger that refers to someone else as a Voyuer, adopts the same attitude, what do you call him, cause i don't get Maureens continous obsession with liverpool

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall, Humpty Dumpty had A GREAT cry cheesy cheesy Well lets wait for it, guess its not only the Gunners that have player problems, anyone would think Arsenal are the wicked witch from the west the way People on this forum talk about the handling of the cole affair. Sort of puts the "throwing stones in glass houses stuff into perspective doesn't it!!"

Lets follow this story till its conclusion, but having a player, or should that be "forcing" a player to stay in a team he obviously wants to leave is a very bad thing, but hey its the new CHELSEA WAY!!, ah ha!! i even forgot about that italian argie crespo, tsk tsk tsk, Expect the queen Bee of Prima donnas to start giving Maureen problems soonest, and i ain't talking about Ballack wink

OK good people hold your horses smiley

people complain about Naija Gonners as being fanatics, Have you been to Asia where they support Man U and Liverpool!! you really have no idea what fanatics are, Go to Manchester and liverpool and you will see what true fanatics are, even Die hard gonners do not even do things that die hard reds do, let me not even talk about Pool fans. Compared to those lot, we are F@$king angels

I will say more later when i have the time to relax and give my Honest absolutely fanatical opinion on the issue.

BIG UP TO YOU VIERA!! And your Son is a GEM waiting to explode on the scene, i shld get his autograph early!! just in case he decides to play footie and become a star, then it would be very difficult cheesy
SportsRe: Mikel Miss First Chance! by loyika(m): 10:18am On Jul 27, 2006
Soori there point of correction to myself, every chelsea player on the last USA tour actually got a game either one halve of a game or some played a full 90 minutes, both stars and fringe players.

Sorri again for my mixup, it's these damn medication i have been on!! cheesy
SportsRe: Mikel Miss First Chance! by loyika(m): 10:06am On Jul 27, 2006
Oga Debo sorry oh!! point of correction, the last USA tour, which funnily enough was also where chelsea went to last year, had every Chelsea player in attendance, Yeah not all players played during the games, but every one got a game,

I remember Chelsea played against Milan, DC united and one other team i can't remeber, yeah Benfica i think it is, all 1st team players got a run out in those matches eiither for 1 half. ( I know this cause i have Chelsea TV, so have no choice but to watch the damn thing since i subscribed to it!?)

The only reason players might be left out is due to the just concluded World cup, where players that took part are still on holiday, like it is with other clubs like Man U, who actually took everyone including Ole!! to Asia last year as well (have MUTV as well, what a strange Gonner i am huh or as Maureen will say VOYUER!! or however it is spelt), and Arsenal are doing the same thing.

On the Mikel issue, i only have this to say "Young lad you better be serious or else you will be over looked and not taken seriously" i repeat MAUREEN IS A NO NONSENSE TASK MASTER and if mikel allows these little incidents to be part of his game, then he will not be given a chance with the team, the last player to do this was Glen Johnson, and when was the last time you all saw him play for the first team, Jose's statement that he has 2 players for every position, means that if anyone is fucking up, you will not be allowed to hold the team to ransom. "A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE!!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: English Premiership: More Hype Than Substance by loyika(m): 3:51pm On Jul 26, 2006
As much as i chose to defend my posts and not bother again about it, this question got me thinking, and when i think so much strange things happen, so with a little research i have come across other arguements on the same topics on other threads, and this guys post explains it all. so here;

This is the first time,i think this topic has had a thread to itself in the warzone :shocking: but now thats its got it, my vote goes to English Premier League, Coz they have the better stars and better youngsters as well  ,better entertainment,u mite not get as many upsets as in the La Liga, but then thats due to the big teams who are not consistent enough or good enough, ,then the action is at a better pace, and wev had three winners in the past three years, so La Liga fans cannot use that excuse either , wink , The EPL big guns have had the better of the La Liga big guns in the UCL in the Last 20 matches atleast. So we have better Teams.Epl is world wide too, broadcasted more than La liga.Epl teams have more money, and rite now The Epl is like a paradise for Spanish Players also, and its nto defenitely due to money, coz Reyes came to Arsenal, Xabi alonso,Garcia,Moro and others to Liverpool, Theres seems to have been alot of La Liga to Epl moves, rather than the inverse, i guess thats due to the glamour and attraction of the league, money plays a role as well  , One thing we dont have his,wat u call World Player of the Years, which u guys most abundantly have, Although most times the polls are right, the 2003 one was flawed for me, Henry deserved it for me,but Zidane won it, Gerrard had done much more than Adriano or Eto,but he was 7th.For me the voting system sucks, some of the coaches just go the big names of the past, when u put Zidane in front of Rooney, for 2005 u know that something is wrong with these awards. So i conclude, watever History the La Liga may have,we have everything in equal amount as well.

Amd btw the only reason, why teams liek osasuna are up there becoz of teams like Real Madrids, hot favourites every year playing like crap now adays, so some team has to be in 2nd position,so Osasuna took it.Thats all.If Real were playing to thier usual best, then there would have never been a Osasuna in 2nd.And the year when Real Sociedad came 2nd was coz Barca were crap before Ronaldinho came there.

And whatever u guys say abt suprises and all, u guys have had 4 different league winners only in the recent past, and wev had 3 aswell, pretty even for me in that department.

But overall package its EPL for me atleast. smiley

The Link to this thread is;

http://z6.invisionfree.com/espnstar/index.php?showtopic=34839

I think they say it all. there are other msg boards that look at this same issue, but i can't be bothered to put up the link, thats why you all have PCs, do some research yourselves, you will find a general concession across the board, that the EPL is far more popular than any other league!!

Later amigos cool Over and out!!!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: English Premiership: More Hype Than Substance by loyika(m): 10:20am On Jul 26, 2006
Mocha and Sage, May be i spoke in Spanish huh, i am so sorry cry let me translate in English.

The rivalry in Spain between Real and Barca has more to do with political undertones than football, unlike Espanyol and Barca which is more of a football rivalry, Like Man U vs Arsenal which is a football rivalry (which was fueled more by the hatred of the two managers involved).

Thats why i could only describe what you are talking about as the El Classico as a match btw Rangers which is a scotish team and Man U which is an English team, definately it might not be as classical as your El classico (besides the fact that Rangers and Man U only get to play each other if their paths cross in an European competition ) but like i said the Rivalry is more of a political nature played out on the football field, the Footie is secondary to the political undertones involved. But i guess i won't get any taker on this view so i will just concede this particular Arguement and Bow down to your El Classico ( OH!! pls give me Man U vs Liverpool anyday!!)

Secondly the mere notion that club sides cheat to make everyone see that their league is so tough is just Childish, if that is the case; then the German league with their cheating referees is the best league in the world, pls give me a break shocked, it would have been better and more matured if someone had pointed out that the fact the Italian World cup winning squad were made up of Home Based players showed the strenght and depth of their league or the fact that players like KaKa, Sheva and so on plyed their trade there, then the Italian league is among the best, that my friend is a good Arguement, the match fixing one is an insult to our footballing intelligence, Match fixing is done for greed, and purely greed!! not to show that the league is tough, So i guess Buffon's bettings are aslo done to show how tough the Serie A is angry

Now to your FIFA awards, i have always maintained that the Foreign players are more technically gifted than the average English player, that is a well know fact, you don't need to be a genius to know this (every football novice can tell there are more skills paraded in leagues in Spain and Italy, than in Leagues in England and germany) but at least English players like Gerrad and Becks have made a strong showing in the awards, also players like George Best, Eric Cantona, David Ginola, Dennis Bergkamp, Ossie Ardillles, David Suker, Thiery Henry, Zola, Kevin Keagan, and so on are and were all skillful players that came into the English/Premier league before Roman's millions. (Chelsea had a squad of Internationals even before Arsenal became the United Nations)

Besides i guess the Foriegn elements in the Spainish league and to an extent The Italian leagues, have no bearing at all in the Technicality of the teams. Besides leaving the Azzuris out of this, I don't see the Spainish National team with all their skillfulness and technicality ever going beyond the worst English squad you can think of in any International Competition Ever!!, or let me rephrase that "EVER GOING BEYOND" with "RARELY GOING BEYOND" (Can you say CONSTANT UNDER ACHIEVERS!!) and having said that, at least the Azzuri mix their game up and play practical Footie, displaying Skills when they need to.

But listen The EPL is popular not because of the skills or lack of it, as the case maybe, but because of the passion displayed during matches by the players and the Fans, and like i said the EPL has SKY TV, which is a major factor of thier success, ESPN show the Spainish league but they don't get as much dough as SKY!! The EPL is packaged and marketed better than other leagues, and unless you are calling everyone that watches it FOOLS then i believe those same people know that the Spainish and Italian leagues exist and they have a choice, but still chose to patronise the EPL.

The Globalcom league in Nigeria might parade teams that if push came to shove, would beat the best South Africa had to offer, But the South African league is far more Lucrative and better packaged and marketed, so people would prefer to sit down and watch their league than a match btw Lobi Stars and Gabros.

That is the Fact of the matter, so you can sit at your PC all day and wallow about how the Spainish League is this and that, doesn't still change the situation, Rappers like 50 Cents and Jay Z are living the Good live, But the African Americans are still poor, i describe this Thread as SS DD (Same Sh@t Different Day!!)

GIVE ME HYPE ALL DAY EVERY DAY, Like Will Smith would say" they called me soft, Yeah!? as in MICROSOFT!! cheesy"

Just my Humble Opinion

Sometimes in life (not always, but sommetimes!) you are faced with very annoying issues, like people!!, topics!!, weather!!, and so on, now on a very bright sunny day, i just decided to look through this thread, which i must say i have been avoiding to the best of my abilities, but it seems it doesn't want to die a normal death.

so Mr Teeducatoroy, lets school you, or as they say in California, break you off something proper!!!

A. The real madrid vs Barca classico as you call it has more to do with politics than football, as barca represents the Basque region of spain who want to leave the mother land, and real is the club of the capital, this was further fanned by Franco's support for R Madrid with government funds, so apart from the wonderful players that play for both teams, the rivalry is more political than football!!, In Britain it would just be like Rangers playing Man U or Arsenal playing Celtic, or Cardiff. or the way When Northern ireland beat England, but since you are talking club footie, i will just leave it at that, cause if you do not understand what your so called El Classico is all about, then i can't help you.

B. The Italian league, Uhm let me see!!, well i guess JUDGE Dred of italy has said it all with his verdit on the so called big teams!! and the notion put by one of you that Italians teams have to cheat to win games because it's so difficult huh is such a childish, stupid and downright annoying statement that anyone that tries to even answer that statement is just as stupid as the post.

C. The English league has stood the test of time, it might not be as Technically gifted as either the Italian and Spainish Leagues, but it has always held it's own even before the advent of the priemiership in 1992. Yes the gulf might seem big at the end of the season, but you do have excitement in the prem, like Man U can beat arsenal one day and lose to Pompey the next. It happens.

D. it's not the fault of the english that the media interest in the prem is so high, isn't silvo in charge of milan and 80% of the media in italy, why is it still not top rating stuff!? Aren't there any Media Moguls in Spain!? and corrections Roman A did not bring interest in the Prem. Blame Rupert Murdoch and Sky!!.

AND finally Mr Teeroy, Didn't an English man add value to the Madrid stock and shirt sales, guess thats hype as well.

I am really bored so my writin is so disjointed and scattered, but i will come back later to do a good job, if this thread keeps popin up.

(Jackal for once i find myself in the same boat as you cheesy, but like it happens regularly in cartoons, it's only for a little while, then we draw swords again!!)

Mr. jackal, "I watch MUTV and the antagonism is not as bad as what i have been seeing here." shocked

is this the same MUTV where viewers refer to Arsene Wenger as Arse Whinger", the same MUTV, where fans and presenters like Paddy Cerrand refer to every player that goes down against man U players as a dive!? Is this the same MUTV where fans called in and said how sick and sad they were that liverpool had won in turkey!?

For players loyalty!! The same MUTV that supports called to blame and criticise C ronaldo for Chelsea last goal against Man U during Jose's first season as the manager, The same MUTV that most fans and presenters like FRANK STAPLETON, PADDY CERRAND, Even Paul Parker, all called and suggested that Rio be dropped from the first team when he wqas delaying in signing on the dotted line during his contract negiosations, some supporters even going as far as booing him on the pitch.

The Same MUTV, that take delight in refering to Alan Shearer as a bully (which he is by the way) simply because he decided to snub man u to go and play for Newxastle when he left Blackburn. The same MUTV that supporters call to insult robbie savage and Paul Dickov anytime Man U play against Blackburn, but then praise Sparky (Mark Hughes) because he was a great player for the red devils, the same MUTV that described Klerberson as "A weapon of mass deception" when he was a Man U player.

Jackal pls hook me up with your Cable/Sat providers cause i have been given the pirated version of MUTV, damn i feel so cheated and abused, i have been roobed!! i will sue the bastards (where did i keep my lawyers comp card again!!)

imagine giving me the R RATED version of MUTV when everyone else has the pg13 VERSION. Robbers!!

Finally abeg wetin Arsenal do Poor Coley self, is it far worst than what Chris Coleman is doin to steed marlbronk or what ever his name is, or how Paul Jewel treated Pascal Chimbonda, or the Souness/Bellamy debacle, or Cisse's love hate relationship with houllier and now the spanish manager, or Jose's statement to carvalho, when he said he needed an IQ test (now that was brilliant) or Fergies's treatment of Becks, Jaap Stam, Ruddy Boy compared to his partial treatment of that other french Genius/Violent footballer before Zizou, Oh! Ah! Cantona. Laurent Roberts constant fights with every football manager he plays with.

Redknaps insult to Africans because of Yaks unavailability due to the African Cup of Nations and his refusal to lambast the player for his actions that got him kicked out of the Nigerian squad (Even use siren pick the boy up for airport)

Damn Coley is getting off lightly oh, in short he is being treated with Kid gloves. United are not Crying because chelsea payed them off for Mikel (this is the same MAN united that took chelsea to FIFA and court over this issue or is there another) and the same United that threatened to take real madrid to FIFA over approaches to ronaldo from Real Madrid.

Or is it Newcastle where fans vilified Lee bowyer for his fight with team mate Kierion Dyer, icould go on and on, but i won't since everyone just feels that Arsenal Fans are so biased and they as supporters of other clubs are very objective.

Oh Well i wouldn't want to be considered biased. so i guess i better leave ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB AND SWITCH TO MAN U!! Poor GONNERSAURUS, i think i prefer the Man U mascot RED DEVIL/DRAGON (What ever he is called) instead, please bear with me this change over will take time and some getting use to

Please Jackal don't forget to pass me that addy, i am serious i need the real version of MUTV you were refering to, and please anyone that knows if there is another better version of CHELSEA TV than the one i have should also drop me the addy for where i can subscribe.

It really pains me when people talk like this

First of all Mr Jackal, if you have really been bothered to read any of my posts on ashley cole, you will see that i have defended his stance to no end, and wished him luck in his future endeavours (i guess a new strain of SELECTIVE EYESIGHT is spreading around)

Secondly i do not really like to expend energy arguing here because i realise it's just for fun. let me say that if you believe that Fans are that fickle, then you are really missing the point. even in nigeria we see how football have turned some Men into fighting boys (NFA DEBACLE, THE FUROE THAT FOLLOWED THE EAGLES NON QUALIFICATION FOR THE WORLD CUP, E.T.C)

People kill and die because of this game, Escobar's death for Colombia because of the goal he conceded (my pal in brazil said it was as if they had had a major devestation like the Tsunami, when they got kicked out of the World cup!!).

Even Chelsea with all the present glamour are still recognised in England as the club that epitomises hooliganism, this is a well known fact for anyone that lives and know British football History.

A, Campbell left on the bosman ruling, and left for free, and like i said, go through any real Arsenal Fanzine Football phone in programs like BBC Radio 5 and non-club official magazines and you will see that from time not all Gunners accepted Sol as their own (EVERY ARSENAL SUPPORTER KNOWS ABOUT THE INTENSE HATRED FOR SPURS THAT HAS A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE!! THAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU LEARN ABOUT WHEN YOU BECOME A GONNER!!)

Even TH14 and some of the players on the last day at Highbury were at the center cirle singing "are you watching! are you watching tottenham!!"

Football is a very emotional game and the supporters know this, thats what makes this game the way it is, even Robbie fowler when he scored against Man U  showed a "five hand sign to Man U supporters taunting them on liverpools 5 wins in europe (and what makes that interesting was the fact that at that time robbie was playing for man city!)

G Neviles celebration against Liverpool, Jose's celebrations at old trafoord when he was with Porto, and at highbury when as Chelsea's manager.

The fights btw fans, the abuse rained down on lamps as a "westham reject", Ronney's need to score against everton, Man u supporters booing Rio over his coontract negiotiations and the list goes on.

If you feel supporters have no passion and are less concerned, sign up for Man U TV, CHELSEA TV, BBC Radio 5, or even BBC 606 board.

No one says that footballers have no right to do what they want they are human beings after all, and like every one of us, if you are not happy with your job, you try to find somewhere else. very simple.

Arsene Wenger has not said anything (ever) bad against Cole, he just said (which Jose also said for that matter, but in a more general way) that he wishes cole will stay and concentrate more on football than the other stuff, what my dear friend was roy keane's sentiments on some of his fellow colleagues, he knows that football is about passion and respect for the fans, thats all, thats why fifa and the fA want a ceiling placed on the wages these players earn so that this kind of lust for money will change.

but according to your analysis, Milan fans had no right to be mad at sheva for leaving. why did Del piero decide to stay with juve, because my dear friend he is loyal to the club, and would rather help his club rise from seria b than chase cash somewhere else, the same for players like robbie fowler, alan shearer, gary nevile, even phil nevile is not really happy that he is playing for everton.

Thats the football i know and love, and if i am one of those drunks in a pub that cries and loses sleep when my team loses a game, i would rather be that than a fan that just wears a jersey but not feel anything either way.

once again adios Coley and goodluck wherever!

Mr. Jackal

Please stop talking absolute rubbish, i try ( i really do ) not to take what you all say personal, but when people just say things believing that no one else has any football knowledge, it really gets on my nerves.

It is a well known fact that Westham supporters are not happy with Franky lamps for leaving also Joey Cole, they really have no problem with John Terry, and they absolutely hate Jermaine Defoe (although he has nothing to do with this topic)

No matter what anyone thinks of Ashley Cole, (and i have been one person that feels the board could have handled the situation better, if not for their intense hatred for Chelsea, and wenger's disdain for maureen), i feel he did what can be considered tresonable and a disgraceful act. paddy for all his pandering never was caught with a rival club's manager,

Even Ruud has the decency to make his transfer business through the right channels. Why do you think Man U supporters are so incensed with Ronaldo?? Supporters spend their hard earned money supporting a club, and part of this money is used to pay the fat salaries of some of these babies that call themselves footballers, even TH14 was not given an easy ride by the supporters, we were just not as vocal as Man U supporters during the Rio ferdinand saga. Fans have a right to demand some form of Loyalty from the players that wear their colours, thats why it pains me when drogba gets booed by his own fans at chelsea (no matter the reason, and they are plenty!!) when it is obvious that he is willing to die for that shirt.

Figo will never be forgiven by Barca supporters and thats a fact. do you really think ashley is welcomed by chelsea supporters (if you do pls i suggest you get chelsea TV and hear the true reactions of fans) say what you want about football supporters, but no body likes a traitor, whether its their club or another club that is involved. thats why Spurs fans will never forgive (even if it was a free transfer) SOL even some Arsenal supporters have never considered him a true Gunner, despite what he achieved for the club. THAT MY DEAR JACKAL IS FOOTBALL LIVE WITH IT!!

Every Gunner has the right (the last time i checked he was/is our player) to express either their disgust or sympathy for Cole. We all in one way or the other contribute to his career, either through wages or support, even prayers (as some did during his injury).

For me, no matter what happens he will always be an Arsenal Legend!! but one with a big question mark?? unlike DB10 who is not only an Arsenal legend or an Ajax legend, but a Football legend full stop.

Adios Coley and goodluck cheesy

Today i am in a good mood so there will be less of the sarcasm cheesy.

But i must admit it's really annoying when a discussion always has to turn to petty arguements. No Nigerian, and i repeat "NO NIGERIAN" does not wish Mikel well in his Career, if he does well itwill be to the benefit of nigerian football. I don't like Bolton that much, but i always looked forward to Okocha's performance, same could be said of any other club that has a nigerian player among their ranks. And i trully think all nigerians adopt the same attitude.

Where we disagree is on the little details, like whether he was right to go to Chelsea instead of the club that wanted him in this case Man U. So i really do not see the need for petty insults like the one above about Arsenal and Walcot. Arsenal FC has nothing to do with this thread, but Gunners have their opinions like anyone else on the topic, and even if you don't agree with it, at least you could respect it and just post your own thoughts.

Mikel belongs to us all not only Chelsea, or where ever he decides to play in the future. So please (as much as i enjoy the little battles that go on btw fellow nairaland colleagues, which i believe is just for fun, as we are one people after all) i feel there is really no need to start unneccessary beef when there is no need for it. the thread is about what we feel about Mikel's progress with Chelsea.

Well lets see how the season pans out for him. i just hope he stays injury free, cause i know the manager he has and Maureen is not a baby sitter Roman A does not give him that leaverage to be, and the last time i looked Mikel's chick (if he has one) is not friends with roman's wife like Sheva's wifey, and neither does roman's son like Mikel, like the way he likes Roberto Carlos, who might come and play for chelsea just to fulfil some Richy Rich fantasy.

Mr. Lordship i was about to logout till i saw your post.

Well could i just give you a little piece of advice, Pls do not say this "MAN U IS THE GREATEST CRAP" near any Liverpool supporter, unless you mean ''MAN U IS THE GREATEST PIECE OF SH@T THERE IS ON THE PLANET". cause if you do, you will be beaten till death.

Actually, you would be killed, resurrected and killed again by Man City fans, but there are not that many in naija, (are there any huh!!)so you are safe.

I will leave Mr. (teddy) Grizzly (any time he cares to join in) to complete this nonsensical thread/arguement, but let me give you all a teaser. "UNITED STINKS" cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal, Manchester United: who is greater? by loyika(m): 5:42pm On Jul 19, 2006
Mr. Kit what i have to say is "YOU ARE A f@CKING GENIUS".

I have to print this and keep in my archives, thanks mate!! all these guys that feel that they have all the footballing knowledge seem to forget that its not really about the statistics or whatever they chose to look at. from 1995 Arsenal has brought something lovely to the British game, love us or loathe us, you cannot deny us that!! and any objective person must accept that, We might still be Euro lites but thats all we need to put this bullsh@t arguement to rest (shame we didn't do it against barca!!)

But then Man U will just keep saying they won a treble, always shifting the Goal post (then they have the nerve to be mad at us when we bring up the UNBEATEN SEASON, yet they are so happy that they ended it, beats me that one huh, but its the bloody mancs what do you expect cheesy)

My team up north is Liverpool never Man U, i even prefer Man City and Everton.

our competition now is chelsea not the reds, Thank God cheesy we have better things now to think about than those lot. Chelsea have raised the bar (sent everyone to sleep with their boring football undecided, but you can't deny them their place in the sun!!)

And we have the unfinished business of the CL, i have a feeling we will get to play Barca again, these things always have a way of happening cheesy. So Man U keep on believing in your past glory wink, liverpool did it for a long time and it stunted them, with a new mentality, see how they are growing (Even starting up a healthy rivalry with chelsea, which we need to put ourselves in the mix and forget about this MAN U/ARSENAL CRAP. (it died a natural death with Keano and Paddy leaving).

God willing the league still has my life time to run out, i can worry about who is greater when i am with my Grand kids (by Gods grace) explaining to them why, as Mr. Grizz will say ''UNITED STINKS''
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal, Manchester United: who is greater? by loyika(m): 4:33pm On Jul 19, 2006
Not to be a real kill joy, but i don't get this arguement!!? But oh well let me put my two cents in. cheesy

Who is greater Man U or Arsenal, wait let me think now ?? thats a tough question??

Sir alex vs Prof Arsene? Ronney vs Th14? Old Trafford Vs highbury/A Grove? huh

Still thinking huh, so so difficult sad

Well let me try and end this arguement!! MAN U is greater than Arsenal in terms of history in the league or elsewhere, what ever parimeter you decide to use, except one "Beautiful Football". cheesy

Arsenal under Wenger has changed the way the priemiership is view, we play like a team in the spanish league. While Fergie introduced a siege mentality at Man U, Wenger made Arsenal admired by all even their opponents.

Wenger's Arsenal was a breath of fresh air to the mudaneness of fergie's army and we actually brought back a sense of pride and competitiveness to the league, which teams like Newcastle under Keegan, Chelsea under Gullit/Vialli, Aston villa under Big Ron (racist) Atkinson and liverpool under Daglish, tried to do, but alas feel under the spell of fergie's mind games.

Wenger showed us all that, Man U are just fake bullies that can be beaten at their own games (playing better football i might add!!), however most recently other teams now feel the same about Arsenal, specifically Bolton and Blackburn.

So let this arguement be laid to rest, Man U are a bigger club than Arsenal (until we win the CL we have no right to compare ourselves no matter how many prem titles we win, Even chelsea know this fact, thats why the priority for them this season is the CL,i am sure every Arsenal fan trully realise this deep down!!) cry

But having said that LIVERPOOL are a bigger team than Man U in terms of everything you can possibly think about and they will be bigger than MAN U for ever cheesy, Man U fans can only dream to achieve what the Pool have achieved (Liverpool have a bigger fan base, although Man U have more financial success) when fergie goes lets see how the reds cope!! cheesy

Yeah might i just add that ARSENAL HAVE BEEN RELEGATED ONCE undecided, in the 30s/40s but only spent one year in the lower league, Juve cheesy well i really do not need to say anything about them, guess they will be gone for a long time ( ALCARTRAZ ) grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by loyika(m): 12:23pm On Jul 19, 2006
We have been hear before, good people football is played on the pitch not with our mouths, so no need to be afraid of the red or blue army, Even with our reserve squad, on our day we can beat chelski, cheesy so i have no problem there, Man U is just a mind thing which unfortunately AW has passed on to the players (the same trend might be developing with the Bolton Wonder) huh.

But all in all we should be good for next season with what we have, if Ashley decides to stay and Reyes decides to be bothered (and yeah Freddie scoring a bloody goal once in a while would help a lot). angry

Anyway expect much from MR. X (Rosicky) cool, as long as we can maintain home form, and stop this fear of the northern team crap, we will be fine.

The players are more matured now and we had the most players at the world cup, so things just have to click soon, hopefully this season, if not a top 4 would be ok, just lets keep these guys together and you will see a steady progress.

Expect us to do well in the CL as well, hopefully getting to the finals again (fingers crossed) wink
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: A New Era At Real Madrid! by loyika(m): 5:57pm On Jul 18, 2006
CORRECTION MR HUC,

Our dream was not broken by Barca, we lost due to lack of finishing by TH14, a rush of blood to the head by Crazy Jens and defending fo the good part of 75 minutes. so no dream was broken by barca.

let Barca play Arsenal 11 versus 11 and beat us, then they can say they beat us, until then 11 versus 10 is a mismatch with barca's quality, if they had not been able to beat a 10 man Arsenal team, believe me they would have been ashamed to go back to spain. (if Italy could do it with australia, trust me!! if they had gone to 10 men against France, they would have been pulverised)

So words like kill Arsenal's dream are not necessary, cause we are still in the CL the last time i looked, and they also failed to sign TH14, who they wanted, despite what you might think of him. You won't hear anyone say Villareal destroyed Man U's entire history and pride will you (Actually they did, not even giving you guys the joy of competing in UEFA!! now that was funny, Man U at the bottom of a group that had BENFICA, VILLAREAL AND Ozase's team!!) cheesy

Believe me if Franko Rik had his way he would add Carnavaro to his squad even Buffon, but right now they have no space, as they sold no one. So he has to make do with light weights like Gio van Bronhurst (Shitty player at Arsenal/Shitty player at barca tongue, some things will never change huh).

Or maybe this is just a Flirty thingy btw u and Madam Prisc wink, sorry my bad!! cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Mikel Obi Kicks Off Chelsea Career by loyika(m): 11:55am On Jul 18, 2006
Really!! smiley i didn't know you became a potential for AFRICAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR, just by training with Chelsea (Which unfortunately he missed due to injury, they say?!) Hope that doesn't become the story of his career?

Listen Mikel like any other player needs to Walk the walk, he will not break into Chelsea's first team, unless there are injuries to any of the superstars, AFRICAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR is not given to players based on the fact that they play for Multi millionare teams, its what you do on the pitch that counts. And Mikel has competition for years to come.

Ya Ya toure, Didier Zakora, Kolo Toure, Manu Adebayor, Obafemi martins, John micoud and so on. least i forget, isn't Samuel Eto still young and what about Kalou.

So once again Mikel needs to show us that he can play with a big club, Playing in Internationals is all fine and good, besides they are usually over a period of 3 weeks, (and could easily decieve people into thinking a player is better than he is) i mean who the hell was Grosso, before the World Cup. So Mikel has his game cut out for him, lets see if he can handle a full season in the Premeir league, where people will be glad to tackle him with some bone crushing play (damn i almost forgot, THE KING OF BONE CRUSHING TACKLES "Micheal Essien" plays for chelsea!!) cheesy.

Cause Maureen is a task master and he won't pity or give mikel any time for rubbish as he wants results now, and is not afraid to ignore you if you are not fitting into his immediate plans (case in study; Robben when he was injured, Carvalho was dropped when jose felt he was not delivering, SWP's dilenma speaks for itself and i could go on)

Mikel is going to have to belt up to fit into chelsea and find his footing in the priemier league. Getting injured regularly is not going to help his cause, as jose gets easily irritated with players that are prone to injures, thats why he is always frustrated with Robben due to his injury prone nature.

I wish him well at BOOT CAMP and i am sure all Nigerians wish him the same, but unfortunately as much as i hate to say this, He would have been a better player under fergie and at Man U than he ever will be at Chelsea where he will just be one more player that has to deliver now!! not later ( A means to an end!!) sad
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: A New Era At Real Madrid! by loyika(m): 5:11pm On Jul 17, 2006
I really do not like to post on topics that do not concern Arsenal but i will make an exception this once ( don't hold me to that statement sha!!).

Well i don't have anything against the Merenges, but i felt for a long time they were heading in the wrong direction, but with the appointment of Capello, expect to see a change in fortune and more competition for Barca ( and expect to see a slimmer Ronaldo cheesy).

Now all this talk of Fergie this Fergie that, let me remind all Man U fans here, Fergie has lost most of his powers at the club, it has been a gradual process for the past 3 years, it's just that he doesn't want to retire now with nothing in 3 years apart from the MILK Cup they won last year. The new owners control what happens and they determine things according to sales and money to be made and generated. Real will always have more pulling power than any other club in the world, LIVE WITH IT

These players are no longer scared of their Gaffers like in the past, cause football has changed and these players see themselves more like superstars to worry about whether fergie or any other manager for that matter wants them to stay or not.

Well Ronaldo might stay this season but expect him to be off sooner or later (more sooner ) but hey!!! thats the way football is now, no real loyalty to a club, just dollars and cents. (see Ashley Cole for Arsenal)

Now as for the whole Man U/Arsenal bruhaha, the sooner you all realise that apart from the hatred on this board (which i pray is just for fun!!) in actual fact GONNERS could not really care if Old Traford or as i like to call it GAY trafford, is hit by a scud missile, if not for the fact we have to head up north every season to play them, we don't really see them as much (never have never will!!) ask any true gonner and he/she will tell you that the only thing we hate when we play MAN U is not the loss but the annoying undecided fact that Wenger almost always concides defeat to them (something like a casualty of war kind of stuff, i.e one lost battle does not mean losing the war!!!) When all we need is for them to recieve a good trashing from us, but oh well as long as LE PROF and TOMATO FACED FERGIE are in charge expect the usual loss and draw with the Reds, so sad but true cry

But what you guys seem to forget is that with all these fake posturing of percieved hatred, The Boys in Blue are walking away with the prize (And as much as i hate Maureen, i must doff my hat to him, he doesn't take all these things personal, for him it's all part of the job, cause he has the self belief that he can beat you anyday, anytime and anywhere.

Getting back to Real Madrid, i guess thats the same mentallity Capello will bring, but unless we get to play you guys in the CL, We gonners couldn't give a toss!! cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by loyika(m): 2:59pm On Jul 17, 2006
Well Mr Kit, thanks for the acknowledgment, how u dey to grin.

Well to get toyour point, i honestly feel for Ashley, cause unlike Sol he is a gonner through and through, from the youth team, he (like many other players) felt slighted that Arsenal and the boss tended to favour the french players at the detriment of other nationals, Reyes also felt that way.

But then he goes and does the unthinkable and most stupid thing i have ever seen, meeting maureen and Peter Kenyon at a hotel!? Although i actually blame his agent, (can we all say MIkel Obi Saga!!) these agents generally play on their players weakness to exploit them.

I do feel Wenger would and should have done better and spoken to ashley over the issue (either to scream at him or gently calm him down), But thats the real major flaw i have against the gaffer, he tends to be partial to TITI and the French Musketters, thank God they have reduced, and i believe its because of this that he has come out belatedly to say he wants cole to stay. sorry AW thats really the difference between Fergie and you, at least with fergie you know where you stand. Le Prof just believes in being quiet and letting things play themselves out.

But i believe if not for the shortages at the back with injuries and such, AW would have let Cole go, so i guess his hands are tied. anyway Coley gives 110% in his games for the club, and he will still do that if he stays, doesn't really know how to play any other way. So i think the board should just call him and increase his salary and assure him ofhis place in the club, cause right now he is the only player at the club that started from childhood, and it would be a shame for him to go like that, the club owes him, cause he has never really disappointed his colours (THE RED AND WHITE ARMY)

thats my little contibution on COLEGATE
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by loyika(m): 2:31pm On Jul 17, 2006
Nah!! i don't think Le prof will ever go for a player like Tommy "send them to their Grave"son cheesy. Arsenal under wenger has never gone for those kind of players, PV4 being the exception, i guess thats why he got diaby, and Berti does most of that work anyway, just needs to maintain it over the whole season.

We don't play that way, the manager's Philosophy is "If you are playing 70% of your football in your oppositions halve all the time, you only get to defend like 15 mins out of the 90. Gravy didn't really work out a Madrid and i doubt you will get much takers on him working out at the Grove from the Arsenal faithful sad.

Like i said our priority now is a defender, SOL has gone and Ashley is 50/50, so thats the area that needs sorting, Cesc has a new deal(and the number 4 jersey), and we bought Rosicky, NO SPACE FOR ANYONE ELSE!!

So people stop torturing yourselves into thinking Wenger will actually change over night and become the Tooth fairy cause he won't and i am sure you already knew this. Expect Curtis Davis. and then the bank closes only to probably be open again in january.

Now people that has always been AW ways and more realistic, if Le Prof wanted another midfielder, believe me he would go for Ribery,or Baptista ( not the wrestler!!), never Tommy Gravy cool
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by loyika(m): 1:53pm On Jul 17, 2006
Hiya cheesy all gunners whats been going on, been so busy today, but i guess thats why it's called "WORK". WHY can't i just be paid to do "SFA!!" cheesy

Well i guess Le Prof has put an end to all the YA YA  and Saviola deal mongering going on. Like i said what we need is a Defender not another midfielder ( or else we would have tried to get our beloved paddy back, before those manure scum get thrier hands on an Arsenal legend and ruin his whole career and reputation to boot in one swoop  cry).

We have so many midfielders and strikers already, what we need is a defender, and a replacement for Jens cause Manu ( let Eto score against me with 10 minutes to go )Almunia is not that good. So i guess we will get Curtis davis towards the end of the transfer market and that will be it till January, or AW hands will be forced if Girls Aloud's new signing Ashley tweedy Cole decides to jump ship, but i doubt Chelsea tongue will want him, and real is not yet stable, so he might stay (personally i think all he wants is a big hug from the manager, telling him everything will be ok!!? grin)

Lets wait and see, but knowing AW don't hold your breathe. just get use to what we have now, cause the Boss is stubborn when it comes to transfers, always has been and always will be ( why we don't get Torres just to piss everyone off i don't know angry, but hey!! guess he ain't a defender )

On a final note, who are these brilliant gentlemen comparing "GAY" Trafford with the "GROVE", well well, wonders shall never cease, what next," MADONNA TO PERFORM A CONCERT IN IRAN FOR THE AYATOLLAH".

I don't blame these mancs when they encourage their plays to act this way, what do we expect. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Why Is Thierry Henry Mediocre In Major Tournaments? by loyika(m): 12:59pm On Jul 14, 2006
CISSE huh how many times has he actually played a full season, please stop talking Bollocks, if you watch football at all you would realise that at Arsenal henry players as a twin attack force in a 4-4-2 system, whereas for france he playes as a loan striker.

The only time he plays as a loan striker for Arsenal is when they play 4-5-1 in the CL, and with that Arsenal still play mass attack and mass defense, it was only in the Final with the sending off of Jens did we have to defend all through the match.

Henry CANNOT play well with zidane, did you not see he played well when zidane was suspended and playing with PV against Togo, that was Henrys best game at the world cup.

He plays better when he has a midfielder that fields the ball to him quickly ( Fabregas, Pires, and now Rosicky) or he plays the role of a supporting striker, thats why he always ends up with the highest number of assists in the league. Whereas for france he plays as a loan striker, and unfortunately TiTi does not play well that way, as he needs a partner who he can play One-two football with.

Having said that he still scored 3 goals at the WC, 1 against the old World champs, WHAT MORE DO YOU GUYS WANT huh huh huh

But like i said. Today seems like HATE WENGER DAY!!
