Tucano and Spitfire comparisons are infantile. That said, I'll be pleasantly surprised if Nigeria gets the Tucano in this current session. Republican Trump has not been able to get anything approved by the Republican-controlled Congress and Senate. What does Nigeria offer to Jacksonville, Florida -besides the 12 aircraft- that compels those representatives to lobby their 480+ counterparts to approve this transaction? The US House and Senate Sessions are in congruence from Sept 25 after the summer recess and no mention of Nigeria's acquisition so far.
Of course, I won't mention Obama approved this sale and a Republican Congress blocked it: why spoil a neat narrative?

45 who also could of approved it through a waiver has already signed off on it.
The deal is done.
There is nothing more to add.
Obama deep down IMHO never intended to sell this Plane with the accompanying bombs and logistics to Nigeria and he is gone with his left wing buddies at the State Department.
Lastly Nigeria has $600M to offer to the U.S.that is why in 45's mind the sale is done.

Many of us most likely would prefer a totally different type of aircraft to the Tucano. I for one would have preferred the J-10, MIG-35 or the JF-17.

Be that as it may, the Tucano is still and will always be a very brilliant acquisition for the Nigerian Air Force. I have always advocated for the Tucano, although not at the expense of a proper 4 Gen multi-role fighter.

The Tucano is intended to replace our ageing Alpha jets in the light attack role. It is this role where the Tucanos is King.

The Tucano is a very modern aircraft that can carry all modern Air-to-Ground ammunition, Data-link, has a very brilliant loiter time, is cost effective to fly and is combat proven in some of the most hostile combat zones.

It is very far from being a waste of resource, it fills it's own niche in the Air Force combat structure.

You should also consider payloads. UCAV launched missiles ain't this big.

It is worthy of note that the C-130H aircraft and the Super Puma helicopter play a crucial role in the prosecution of the ongoing operations in the Northeast. It is therefore gratifying to note that the Jordanian Team indicated its readiness to immediately initiate support for the operation and maintenance of both the C-130 aircraft and Super Puma helicopter since the 2 aircraft are also on the inventory of the RJAF. Furthermore, th Team visited the 643 Equipment Supply Depot of the NAF. The Team Leader then expressed the willingness of RJAF to collaborate with the NAF in the area of capacity building for aircraft spares inventory management.
