With better quality 'eyes in the sky', say with the airforce grounded, how easy is it to fix guidance kits on pre existing 155mm artillery shells for precise hits on enemy targets. Is it a project with easily available off the shelf parts? Or do you think guided arty shells are a luxury?

what I understand from DOPRI is that 'it wasn't operational' in the sense that it wasn't fitted with sensors and optics for active service.

if you notice none of Gulmas pictures come with sensors but this new UAV (still can't spell it) has a sensor (optics) package underneath it.

I believe Gulma was a testbed for further research and development (R& D) which led to this new UAV (can't spell). DOPRI response was vague and sketchy as usual...

well let's see what tomorrow brings

First Trump has cancelled Egypt's military aid since last year so a tit for tat vote from Egypt is expected.
KSA is fighting a full scale war in Yemen, US is looking forward to sustaining that profit so it doesn't matter how KSA votes.

I took a day to respond to your comments because I believe your comments were and are in good faith.
Here is where you get it wrong.
Nigeria has history of going against apartheid regimes, Israel for lack of a better phrase is turning from a right wing regime into an Apartheid one.This is a personal opinion from someone who has actually admired Israel for a long time.
Israel and Nigeria have extensive diplomatic, agricultural and Military ties.
Military ties started during the Yaradua era, here is where you get it wrong religion has nothing to do with it.
The Shaldags were bought and paid for.
As recently as 2016 Military Instructors from Israel were training NAF special Forces .Buhari did not cancel the contract nor did the CAS ..
Training is based on capabilities.
Some of Nigeria's secret services still use the Uzis.
Nigeria wants the A29 and America wants to sell it to them and at $500million , One vote is not going to change that
Also put it in the perspective of it is only one procurement.Over the next 4-5Years, the NAF will make several procurements irrespective of how Nigeria votes and judging on the work done by the Israeli Military Private group and the ovation received they will be back too.
Lastly the last official statement on the deal by the US after the vote by Nigeria was the Ambassador and the CAS signing the Contract.

Not quite. Pratt and Whitney engine is Canadian. Are there US made components? Yes. Is this a barrier? Not necessarily. Only if you want to use US weapons, do the Yanks insist you buy Tucanos from the Florida factory. Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Angola, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Indonesia all bought directly from Brazil.

the point from where a contract is signed, it takes time to deliver especially if the lines r idle , and on confirmed orders , OEM places order for consumerables to hundreds/thousands of vendors and then waits for delivery , which again takes time and then plate cutting for fuselage is undertaken after materials r delivered , add in various tests and when the various components, consumerables r delivered integration begins which is interrupted by various tests at various stages , once the aircraft is completed , factory level tests then tests by the user etc takes places .

All in all just saying for any primary OEM time frame of delivery will be same give or take some months after the contract is finalized.

That's the reality which u guys r not aware or r overlooking

The deal was blocked by US government. Even though the Tucano is Brazilian made most of its components come from USA.
The engine, targeting pods, Flir system etcetera... are all US made.

$350M will get us 10 good SU30 fighters. MOD should procure weapons with the balance. In Jesus name the Tucano contract shall fail.

No doubt about it, Super Tucano is one of the cheapest platforms to operate. CAS, border patrol and training. NAF should have gone directly to Brazil. As for weapons - gun, rockets (unguided and guided) would suffice for what you need them.
No pilot is ever going to justify to his OC why he fired a GBU at a Toyota technical. Even with the integration costs for say guided rockets, still cheaper than the deal Nigeria wants with the US.
