In a split decision of five to two on Friday, a seven-member panel of the Supreme Court affirmed the July 21, 2016 judgment of the Court of Appeal, Lagos, which set aside the October 17, 2014 judgment by Justice Grace Onyeabo of the High Court of Lagos State, which upheld the hiab restriction

IslamThe Types And Ages Of Animals That Can Be Used For Eid Sacrifice by Lukgaf(op): 7:14am On Jun 17, 2022
Eid-ul-Adha is less than a month today (may Allah spare our lives till then and beyond and provide us).

The best type of animals for udhiyah are: camels, then cows – if sacrificed on behalf of one person; then sheep; then goats; then one-seventh of a camel; then one-seventh of a cow. The best type of animals are those which are fat and have more meat, and are physically complete and good looking.

In Saheeh al-Bukhaari it is narrated from Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to sacrifice two horned rams that were white speckled with black.

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sacrificed a whole (i.e., not castrated), horned male sheep, with a black face and black (circles) round the eyes, and black legs. This was narrated by the four. Al-Tirmidhi said, it is hasan saheeh; it was also classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 2796.

On the age requirement of these animals, attached from DawahNigeria detail the ages (and conditions) of animals that can be used for Eid sacrifice. May Allah provide for us and let us witness Eid (Ameen).

IslamProtection From The Nightmares by Lukgaf(op): 6:59am On Jun 17, 2022
Last week, we discussed what you need to know about dreams and their interpretation. If you miss this thread, read here. Following requests on what to do as protection from nightmares, I present below an excerpt from IslamQA on what to do as protection from nightmares.

Dreams that disturb a person and keep him awake come from the Shaytan. In general, the dreams that people see are either good dreams which come from Allah, a reflection of things that a person is thinking about, or a third type, which are dreams that come from the Shaytan.

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Towards the end of time, hardly any dreams that the Muslim sees will not come true. The one whose dreams are the most truthful will be the one whose speech is the most honest. The dreams of the Muslim form one of the forty-five parts of Prophecy. Dreams are of three types: the good dream which is good news from Allah; dreams which cause distress, which come from the Shaytan; and dreams concerning matters which a person is thinking about…” (Narrated by Muslim, 2263)

Du’a for Nightmares
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told us how to rid ourselves of the influence of Shaytan during sleep. This can be achieved by reciting verses from the Quran and du’as narrated from him before going to sleep .

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) put me in charge of guarding the zakah of Ramadan. Someone came and started to scatter the food. I took hold of him and said, ‘I will take you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).’… He said, ‘When you go to bed, recite Ayat al-Kursi and you will be protected by Allah, and no shaytan (devil) will come near you until morning.’ The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘He told you the truth even though he is a liar. That was a shaytan.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 3101)

Abu Mas'ud al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘The last two ayahs of Surah al-Baqarah – whoever recites them at night, they will be sufficient for him.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 3786; Muslim,807).
Al-Nawawi said: “Concerning the phrase, ‘The last two ayahs of Surah al-Baqarah – whoever recites them at night, they will be sufficient for him’, it was said that it means, they will be sufficient for him instead of praying qiyam al-layl, or as protection from Shaytan, or as protection from vermin. It could mean all of these things.” (Sharh Muslim, 6/91, 92).

‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to his bed, he would blow into his hands and recite Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad (Surah 112) and the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surahs 113 and 114). Then he would wipe his hands over his face and his body, as far as they could reach.” ‘Aishah said: “When he fell ill, He would ask me to do that for him.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 5416; Muslim, 2192)

Abu Hurayrah said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to tell us, when any one of us wanted to sleep, to lie on his right side, then say ‘Allahumma Rabb al-samawati wa Rabb al-ard wa Rabb al-‘Arsh il-‘Azim, Rabbana wa Rabba kulli shay-in, faliq al-habb wa’l-nawa wa munazzil al-Tawrati wa’l-Injeeli wa’l-Furqan, a’udhu bika min sharri kulli shay-in anta akhidhun bi nasiyatihi. Allahumma anta al-awwal fa laysa qablaka shay-un, wa anta al-akhir fa laysa ba’daka shay-un. Wa anta al-zahir fa laysa fawqaka shay-un wa anta al-batin fa laysa dunaka shay-un. Iqdi ‘anna al-dayna wa aghnina min al-faqr (O Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth, and Lord of the Mighty Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, Splitter of the seed and the date stone, Revealer of the Tawrat, the Injil and the Furqan, I seek refuge in You from the evil of all things that You will seize by the forelock [i.e., have full control over them]. O Allah, You are the First and there is nothing before You; You are the Last and there is nothing after You. You are the Manifest (al-Zahir) and there is nothing above You; You are the Hidden (al-Batin) and there is nothing beyond You. Settle our debt and spare us from poverty).’” (Narrated by Muslim, 2713)

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Abu Bakr said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I can say in the morning and in the evening.’ He said: ‘Say, Allahumma ‘Alim al-ghaybi wa’l-shahadah, Fatir al-samawati wa’l-ard, Rabba kulli shay-in wa malikahu, ashhadu an la ilaha illa anta. A'oodhu bika min sharri nafsi wa min sharr il-shaitan wa shirkih (O Allah, Knower of the seen and the unseen, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that there is no god except You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self and from the evil and shirk of the Shaytan). Say this in the morning and in the evening, and when you go to bed.’” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3392; Abu Dawud, 5067).

What to do when you have a bad dream
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also taught us what to do when someone sees something unpleasant in a dream and wakes up as a result. That is: to spit dryly to the left, to seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytan, to change the side on which one was sleeping, and to pray if one wishes.

Abu Qatadah said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Good dreams come from Allah and bad dreams come from the Shaytan. If any one of you sees a bad dream which makes him afraid, let him spit dryly to his left and seek refuge with Allah from its evil, then it will not harm him.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 3118; Muslim, 2261).
Jabir reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If any one of you sees a dream that he dislikes, let him spit dryly to his left three time, and seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytan three times, and change the side on which he was sleeping.” (narrated by Muslim, 2262).

Abu Hurayrah said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘If any one of you sees something that he dislikes (in a dream), let him get up and pray, and not tell people about it.’” (narrated by Muslim, 2263)
If the Muslim follows this advice given by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), before he goes to bed, it is hoped that no shaytan will come anywhere near him, and if he follows this advice when he wakes up from a bad dream, it will take away all anxiety and distress from him.

And Allah knows best.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUfqTQ509X8
In this session, I continued by explaining Program 2 of the book (introduction to algebra) from frame 8, page 68 in Yoruba. We covered topics such as terms, like terms, similar terms, coefficients, expansion, factorization, and nested fractions. Since algebra is concerned with using alphabets and numerals to perform arithmetic, the book's author interestingly revised powers (indices) & logarithms which we have covered in the previous frames. So, I covered the topics again also in detail.

IslamIt's Roughly A Month To Eid-ul-adha Today. Are You Preparing? by Lukgaf(op): 7:31am On Jun 10, 2022
It's roughly a month to Eid ul Adha today and many Hujaaj (including Nigerians) are currently in the holy land of Makkah performing their hajj rites (May Allah make it easy for us also).

Do you know about Eid-ul-Adha and what it entails? I provide below excerpted from IslamQA, the brief description of Eid-ul-Adha and what it entails

https://theguidedone.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/FullSizeRender.jpg

Eid al-Adhaa is the tenth day of Dhoo’l-Hijjah, the last (twelfth) month of the Hijri or Islamic calendar. It is, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The greatest day in the sight of Allaah, may He be blessed and exalted, the Day of Sacrifice . . .” (Reported by Abu Dawud; see also Saheeh al-Jaami‘, 1064).

It is also the greatest day of Hajj, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) told us. (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, see Saheeh al-Jaami‘, 8191).

The reason why it is described as the greatest day of the year is that it combines so many acts of worship which are not combined on any other day, such as the Eid prayer, offering the sacrifice, reciting Takbeer (glorifying Allaah), and widespread remembrance of Allaah. For the pilgrims in Makkah, it also includes offering a sacrifice, stoning the pillars representing Shaytaan (the devil), shaving the head (for men only; women merely cut a little off their hair), and performing Tawaaf (circumambulation of the Ka‘bah) and Sa‘ee (running between the two hills of Safaa and Marwa).
Are you preparing?

May Allah spare our lives to witness the Eid in peace, good health, wealth, and sound faith.
IslamWhat Is The Ruling On Closing The Eyes When Praying? by Lukgaf(op): 7:18am On Jun 10, 2022
When observing solat, many people consciously/unconsciously close their eyes. What is the ruling on this? Is it permissible?

Praise be to Allah.

The scholars are agreed that it is makrooh to close the eyes for no reason when praying. The author of al-Rawd stated that it is makrooh because this is what the Jews do. (al-Rawd al-Murabba’, 1/95). The authors of Manaar al-Sabeel and al-Kaafi stated likewise, and added that it looks as if the person is asleep. (Manaar al-Sabeel, 1/66; al-Kaafi, 1/285). The author of al-Iqnaa’ stated that it is makrooh unless there is a reason for doing so, such as fear of seeing something one should not be looking at whilst praying, such as seeing one’s concubine or wife, or a non-mahram woman, naked. (al-Iqnaa’, 1/127; al-Mughni, 2/30). The author of al-Mughni said likewise.

The author of Tuhfat al-Mulook said that it is makrooh without discussing the ruling when there is a need to do it. (Tuhfat al-Mulook, 1/84). Al-Kaasaani said: it is makrooh because it goes against the Sunnah, which is to focus the gaze on the place of prostration, and because all of a person’s faculties have a role to play in worship, including the eyes. (Badaa’i’ al-Sanaa’i’, 1/503). The author of Maraaqi al-Falaah stated that it is makrooh unless done for a purpose. He said, closing the eyes may be preferable to looking in some cases (Maraaqi al-Falaah, 1/343).

Imaam al-‘Izz ibn ‘Abd al-Salaam said in his fatwas that it is permissible when necessary, if that helps the worshipper to focus more fully on his prayer. Ibn al-Qayyim said in Zaad al-Ma’aad that if a man can focus more fully on his prayer by opening his eyes, then it is better to do so. If he can focus more fully by closing his eyes because there are things that may distract him from his prayer, such as adornments and decorations, then it is not makrooh at all and the view that in this case it is mustahabb for him to close his eyes is closer to the aims and principles of sharee’ah than saying that it is makrooh. (Zaad al-Ma’aad, 1/283).

IslamWhat You Need To Know About Dreams And Its Interpretation? by Lukgaf(op): 7:08am On Jun 10, 2022
Without doubts, some dreams can be distressing, such as when one sees his head cut off and he is following it (lol). Many Muslims have turned to disbelievers on account of the bad dreams they had. Is a dream a big deal? Should we be "much" concerned about it? How do we interpret dreams and what should we do when we have a good or bad dream. The collections below on dreams from IslamQA provide answers.

Praise be to Allah.

Significance of dreams in Islam
1- True dreams are a part of prophethood, as it was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “True dreams are one of the forty-six parts of prophethood.” (al-Bukhari, 6472; Muslim, 4201)

2- Dreams marked the onset of Revelation. (Al-Bukhari, 3; Muslim, 231)

3- The truthfulness of the dream is related to the sincerity of the dreamer. Those who have the most truthful dreams are those who are the most truthful in speech. (Muslim, 4200)

4- Towards the end of time, hardly any dreams will be untrue. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “That will be because the prophethood and its effects will be so far away in time, so the believers will be given some compensation in the form of dreams which will bring them some good news or will help them to be patient and steadfast in their faith.” (al-Bukhari, 6499; Muslim, 4200)

The same may be said of the miracles which appeared after the time of the Sahabah. This did not happen during their time because they did not need them, due to their strong faith, but the people who came after them needed them (the miracles) because their faith was weak.

Types of dreams in Islam
5- Dreams are of three types : Rahmani (those that come from Allah), nafsani (psychological, they come from within a person) and shaytani (those that come from the Shaytan). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Dreams are of three types: a dream from Allah, a dream which causes distress and which comes from the Shaytan, and a dream which comes from what a person thinks about when he is awake, and he sees it when he is asleep.” (al-Bukhari, 6499; Muslim, 4200)

Dreams of the Prophets
6- The dreams of the Prophets are wahy (revelation) for they are protected from the Shaytan. The Ummah is agreed upon this. This is why Ibrahim set out to fulfill the command of Allah to sacrifice his son Isma’il when he saw that in a dream; may peace be upon them both.

7- The dreams of people other than the prophets are to be examined in the light of the clear Wahy [i.e., the Quran and Sunnah]. If they are in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah, all well and good; otherwise, they should not be acted upon. This is a very serious matter indeed, for many of the innovators among the Sufis and others have gone astray because of this.

What you should do to have true dreams
8- Whoever wants to have true dreams should strive to speak honestly, eat halal food, adhere to the commandments of shari’ah, avoid that which Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have forbidden, sleep in a state of complete purity facing the Qiblah, and remember Allah until he feels his eyelids drooping. If he does all this, then his dreams can hardly be untrue.

9- The most truthful of dreams are those that are seen at the time of suhoor [just before dawn], for this is the time when Allaah descends and when mercy and forgiveness are close. It is also the time when the devils are quiet, unlike the time of darkness just after sunset, when the devils and devilish souls spread out. (See Madaarij al-Saalikeen, 1/50-52)

Types of dreams according to Ibn Hajar
Al-Hafiz ibn Hajar said:

10- All dreams are either of two types:

1- True dreams: These are the dreams of the prophets and of the righteous people who follow them. They may also happen to other people, but this is very rare, such as the dream of the kafir king which was interpreted for him by Yusuf (peace be upon him). True dreams are those which come true in real life as they were seen in the dream.

2- Mixed up false dreams, which warn of something. These are of different types:

Types of mixed up false dreams
1- Games of the Shaytan to make a person distressed, such as when he sees his head cut off and he is following it, or he sees himself falling into a crisis and cannot find anyone to save him from it, and so on.

2- When he sees some of the angels telling him to do something forbidden, or other things that cannot possibly make sense.

3- When he sees something that happens to him in real life, or he wishes it would happen, and he sees it very realistically in his dream; or he sees what usually happens to him when he is awake or what reflects his mood. These dreams usually speak of the future or the present, rarely of the past. (See Fath al-Bari, 12/352-354)

11- Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If any one of you sees a dream that he likes, this is from Allah, so let him praise Allah for it and talk about it to others. If he sees other than that, a dream that he dislikes, this is from the Shaytan, so let him seek refuge with Allah from its evil and not mention it to anyone, for it will not harm him.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhari, 6584, and Muslim, 5862).

Abu Qatadah said: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Good dreams come from Allah, and (bad) dreams come from Shaytan. Whoever sees something that he dislikes, let him spit to his left three times and seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytan, for it will not harm him.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 6594, and Muslim, 5862). The “spitting” referred to here is a soft, dry spitting with no saliva ejected.

It was reported from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Alaah be upon him) said: “If any one of you sees a dream that he dislikes, let him spit to his left three times, and seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytan three times, and turn over from the side on which he was sleeping.” (Narrated by Muslim, 5864)

What you should do if you experience good dreams
Ibn Hajar said: to sum up what has been said about good dreams, we may say three things:

A person should praise Allah for the good dream
He should feel happy about it
He should talk about it to those whom he loves but not to those whom he dislikes.
What you should do if you experience bad dreams
To sum up what has been said about bad dreams , we may say four things:

He should seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the dream
He should seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the Shaytan
He should spit to his left three times when he wakes up
He should not mention it to anyone at all.
In al-Bukhari, Bab al-Qayd fi’l-Manam, a fifth thing was narrated from Abu Hurayrah, which is to pray. The wording of the report is: whoever sees something he dislikes (in a dream) should not tell anyone about it; rather he should get up and pray. This was reported as a Mawsul report by Imam Muslim in his Sahih.
Muslim added a sixth thing, which is to turn over from the side on which one was lying.
In conclusion, there are six things to do, the four mentioned above, plus praying two rak’ahs, for example, and turning over from the side on which one was lying to lie on one’s back, for example. (See Fath al-Bari, 12/370)

12- According to a hadith narrated from Abu Razin by al-Tirmidhi, he should not tell anybody about bad dreams except a very close friend who loves him very much, or who is very wise. According to another report, he should not talk about it except to one who is wise or one who is dear to him. According to another report, he should not tell of his dream except to a scholar or one who will give sincere advice. Al-Qadi Abu Bakr ibn al-‘Arabi said: as for the scholar, he will interpret it in a good way for him as much as he can, and the one who will give him sincere advice will teach him something that will be of benefit to him and will help him to do that. The one who is wise is the one who knows how to interpret it and will tell him only that which will help him, otherwise he will keep quiet. The one who is dear, if he knows something good he will say it, and if he does not know or he is in doubt, he will keep quiet. (See Fath al-Bari, 12/369)

Dream interpretation
13- Imam al-Baghawi said:

“Know that the interpretation of dreams falls into various categories. Dreams may be interpreted in the light of the Quran or in the light of the Sunnah, or by means of the proverbs that are current among people, or by names and metaphors, or in terms of opposites.” (Sharh al-Sunnah, 12/220)

He gave examples of this, such as:

1- Interpretation in the light of the Quran: such as a rope meaning a covenant, because Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah…” [Al 'Imran 3:103]

2- Interpretation in the light of the Sunnah: such as the crow representing an immoral man (fasiq), because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called it such.

3- Interpretation by means of proverbs: such as digging a hole meaning a plot, because people say “Whoever digs a hole will fall in it.”

4- Interpretation by means of names: such as seeing a man called Rashid meaning wisdom.

5- Interpretation by means of opposites : such as fear meaning safety, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear” [al-Nur 24:55]

14- As for the book “Interpretation of Dreams” that is attributed to Ibn Sirin, many researchers doubt that it can be attributed to him at all, so we should be certain that this book was written by this prominent scholar.

And Allah knows best.

IslamAdopting A Gentle Approach When Advising People Is Sunnah by Lukgaf(op): 5:53am On Jun 03, 2022
Adopting a harsh, rude, and arrogant attitude when inviting people to good or when admonishing them to refrain from bad is far from Islam.

When Allah Ta'ala commanded Moosa and Haroon (Alae solaatu wasalaam) to go to Fir'aun, He instructed them with the following; “Speak to him (Fir'aun) in a gentle (soft) manner, perhaps he will accept or he will fear (Allah).” (Surah Taha)

Abdullah bin Mughaffal (RodiyaLahu anhu) narrates that Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Verily Allah is gentle (kind) and loves gentleness. He gives (rewards) for being gentle (in actions) what He does not give when being harsh.” (Abu Dawood)

Aisha (Radiyah Allahu anha) narrates, “I was on a camel that was stubborn.” Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Be gentle. Gentleness is not added to something except it beautifies it and it is not removed from something except that it spoils it.” (Muslim)

Jareer bin Abdillah (R) narrates that Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Whoever is deprived of gentleness (kindness) is deprived of goodness.” (Muslim)

Gentleness is the opposite of harshness. A harsh, rude and arrogant attitude is contrary to the Sunnah. From the Quranic advice, we learn how, despite the haughtiness and arrogance of Fir'aun who proclaimed himself to be the Supreme Almighty, the command was to adopt a gentle approach with him. There is a greater chance of a person accepting and taking heed of the message if it is conveyed with gentleness and wisdom.

Therefore, be gentle with others and invite them towards good with wisdom and kind words.

IslamThe Worst Food, Unsunnah: 'where The Wealthy Are Invited And Poor Are Left Out’ by Lukgaf(op): 5:33am On Jun 03, 2022
There is a societal trend to limit the invitation to people of affluence and of a certain 'social standing'. The ordinary poor, weak and downtrodden people of the community are not considered to be part of such functions. Such invitations are disliked and contrary to the Sunnah.

It is Sunnah to invite people for a meal with the intention of feeding people, Da'wah or for a special occasion like a Walimah. One important etiquette of inviting people is to ensure that poor people are also invited. There is a stern warning in the hadith for a general invitation where only the wealth partake and poor are left out.

Abu Hurairah (RadiyaLahu anhu) narrates that Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “(From among) the worst of food is the food of that Walimah wherein the wealthy are invited and the poor are left out …” (Bukhari & Muslim)

There is a societal trend to limit the invitation to people of affluence and of a certain 'social standing'. The ordinary poor, weak and downtrodden people of the community are not considered to be part of such functions. Such invitations are disliked and contrary to the Sunnah.

Our community should seek to rectify this malpractice and make it a point to identify people and families who are generally overlooked and invite them with honour and respect.

If we adopt simplicity, and avoid extravagance and lavishness, we will be able to extend our invitation to more people of a diverse backgroundand in this way foster unity, brotherhood and cohesion in our community. This could be a means of our forgiveness and eternal salvation.

IslamHow To Sustain The Goodness Of Ramadan Even After Ramadan? by Lukgaf(op): 8:05pm On Jun 02, 2022
Ramadan has come and gone. Shawwal also. BTW, did you fast the 6 days of Shawwal before the month ends (If yes, may Allah reward you abundantly and accept it). During this month, many engaged in different good deeds - feeding people, giving alms to people and observing a lot of ibadah. How do we sustain the goodness of Ramadan after it? This thread provides an answer.

Shaykh Sa'd ash-Shithree حفظه الله was asked at the Haram after his explanation of Sunan Abi Dawud, "How do we remain upon khayr (a good state, goodness) after Ramadan?"

The Shaykh حفظه الله said (summarized),
There are certain actions one can perform that will allow him/her to attain many rewards:

1. Acknowledge the blessings of Allah upon you. One of the major goals of Ramadan is for a person to recognize and show gratitude for these blessings. Allah said,
"The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion...Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you,
*and perhaps you will be grateful.*" (2: 185)
Recognize the health Allah has granted you (do you need a machine to help you breathe? A wheelchair to move? Do you have a sound mind??)
Recognize what Allah has blessed you with from wealth, family, friends, etc...
Recognize that Allah has guided you to Islam (...Allahu Akbar...a chance to be saved from the Fire...)
Recognize Allah has granted you success in having the desire to practice Islam and the Sunnah...
(Then be grateful to Him for these blessings by devoting yourself in His worship: pray 5 times a day, give in charity, be good to parents, family, neighbors, etc.)

2. Have sincerity in all actions. Think about the intentions for every action you do, no matter how small they might be. Will it bring you closer to Allah or no? If yes, make sure it is sincerely for His sake. (Quality over quantity).

3. Perform all of your acts of worship with perfection (ihsaan) by paying full attention to what you are saying and doing while knowing that Allah is watching you. This is a means of obtaining tremendous rewards.

4. Preserve the limbs against disobeying Allah. Guard your tongue against backbiting others, guard your eyes and ears against looking and listening to Haram, protect your hands and feet from disobedience (as they will testify for or against you on the Last Day).
In turn, the reward is the HIGHEST ABODE IN PARADISE.
"Successful indeed are the believers: those who humble themselves in prayer; those who avoid idle talk; those who pay alms-tax; those who guard their chastity Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed - but whoever seeks beyond that are the transgressors; ˹the believers are also˺ those who are true to their trusts and covenants; and those who are ˹properly˺ observant of their prayers. These are the ones who will be awarded Paradise as their own. They will be there forever." (Mu'minun: 1-11)

5. Safeguard and uphold the obligations of the Deen with the most important (after the Shahaadah) being the Salah.

6. Avoid evil thoughts and suspicions of others and discrediting their intentions.

7. Constantly remember Allah.
وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
"...and remember Allah abundantly, so that you may be successful." (8:45)
The Shaykh mentioned that there is a difference between نَجَاح and فَلَاح and the former (najaah) takes the meaning of being successful in one particular affair while the latter (falaah) takes the meaning of being successful in ALL affairs (this is why in the adhaan it is said come to FALAAH).

May Allah reward the Shaykh with good in both worlds for his advice and guidance. May Allah grant us SUCCESS in applying these points in our lives starting from THIS moment onwards. Aameen.

IslamDifferences Between Blood Of Menstruation And Blood Of Istihaadah by Lukgaf(op): 9:09am On May 27, 2022
We know what menstruation means. According to Oxford dictionary,
"It is the process in a woman of discharging blood and other material from the lining of the uterus at intervals of about one lunar month from puberty until the menopause, except during pregnancy."

Al-istihaadah” means irregular, non-menstrual vaginal bleeding.

This is different from menstrual bleeding. It is governed by rulings that differ from that governing menstruation.

1. Menstrual blood is black [dark red] whilst the blood of istihaadah is red.

2. Menstrual blood is thick and heavy, whilst the blood of istihaadah is thin.

3. Menstrual blood has an offensive odour whilst the blood of istihaadah does not because it comes from an ordinary vein.

4. Menstrual blood does not clot when it comes out of the body whilst the blood of istihaadah does clot because it comes from a vein.

Rulings on Istihaadah

These are:
1. Ghusl (Ritual Bath) is obligatory in the case of menstruation and the blood is impure, whilst ghusl is not required in the case of istihaadah.

2. Woman is not allowed to pray during menstruation, whilst a woman is allowed to pray if the bleeding is istihaadah. She has to do wudu’ for each prayer if the flow of blood continues to the next prayer and if blood comes out whilst she is praying, it does not matter.

Requirement of Ghusl after Menstrual period

When the menstruating woman’s period ends, she must do ghusl by purifying her entire body, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to Faatimah bint Abu Hubaysh: “When the time of your menses comes, stop praying, then when it ends, do ghusl and pray.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari.

How Ghusl after the Menstrual period is done?

It is obligatory to ensure that water reaches every part of the body, even beneath the hair. Complete steps are the same as in steps of ghusl janabah but with the addition of soap confirmed in the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), when Asma’ bint Shakl asked him how a menstruating woman should do ghusl. He (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

· One of you should take her water and lotus leaves and purify herself and purify herself well.

· Then she should pour water over her head and rub it vigorously so that it reaches the roots of her hair,

· and pour water over herself.

· Then she should take a piece of cloth that is scented with musk and purify herself with it.”

Asma’ said: “How should she purify herself with it?” He said: ‘Subhaan Allaah, let her purify herself with it.” ‘Aa’ishah said to her:

· “She should follow the traces of blood.”
al-Bukhaari 314, Muslim 332.

Unless the hair is tied so tightly that one fears that the water will not reach the roots a woman does not have to undo her braided hair when she does ghusl following janabah or menses according to most correct scholarly opinion, but she must make sure that the water reaches all parts of her body, including the hair and its roots. Majmu’ Fataawa Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 10/182, Majmu’ Fataawa Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 10/161. Majmu’ Fatawa Ibn ‘Uthaymin, 11/318, 319. Risalah fildima’ al-Tabi’iyyah lin-Nisaa by Shayk Ibn Uthaymin.

May Allaah grant us an understanding of His religion.

IslamAkhee, stop Comparing Yourself With Others! by Lukgaf(op): 8:46am On May 27, 2022
With the rise of social media, materialism and consumerism, the world is gripped by a desire to have everything instantly. Constantly desiring what others have can lead to feelings of low self-esteem and depression, especially when one cannot have what others have.

Allah Ta'ala says in the Noble Qur'an, “…And do not crave for what Allah has favoured some of you with over others.” (Surah An-Nisa – Verse 32)

Abu Hurairah (R) narrates that Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Look at those who are less fortunate than you, not at those who are better off than you, as this will make you consider the bounties of Allah upon you to be insignificant.” (Muslim)

Ubaidullah bin Mushin Al Khitmi (RadiyaLahu aneehu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “One who wakes up in the morning and is safe in his dwelling, is in good health and has sufficient food for the day, it is as if the entire world has been given to him.” (Tirmizi)

Over indulgence in worldly pursuits is detrimental for our spirituality. It hardens the heart and detracts a person from good deeds. Living a life of extravagance and opulence leads to pride and arrogance. A Muslim should strive to be content with what Allah Ta'ala has decreed and exert oneself in accumulating good deeds instead of worldly possessions.

Let us be thankful for the bounties Allah Ta'ala has blessed us with and not compare ourselves to others. At times a person may be blessed with less of the world, but Allah Ta'ala grants that person much more contentment, peace and happiness than others

IslamPerforming Ablution When Wearing Lipstick by Lukgaf(op): 8:38am On May 27, 2022
Is lipstick considered a barrier to ablution(wudoo’)? Usually when one does wudoo’, the lipstick is reduced but it is not removed entirely. Should the previous prayers pray with it be repeated?. This thread provides an answer

Praise be to Allah.

In order for wudoo’ to be valid, it is essential to remove anything that will prevent the water from reaching the skin, whether it is lipstick or anything else. But if the colour or trace of it is left, even if the water touches the skin and runs off it without sticking, then wudoo’ is valid.

Al-Nawawi said in al-Majmoo’ (1/492):

If there is wax, dough, henna and the like on one of his limbs, which prevents water from reaching any part of it, then his tahaarah is not valid, whether the amount is large or small. If there are traces of henna and its colour left on the hand, without there being any solid material left, or elsewhere, or traces of liquid grease whereby water flows over the limb but does not stay there, his tahaarah is valid. End quote.

Based on this, you should remove the lipstick before you do wudoo’, so that there will be nothing left that could prevent the water from reaching the skin, but if the colour or a trace of grease is left, that does not matter.

And Allaah knows best.

Wa alekum salam waramotulah. Sorry are you a Muslim, @usermane?

Asalam alaykum

I think it must be near two years since I posted here. I paused posting because I got more preoccupied with life. I planned on returning to complete some unfinished threads here but not this soon. Anyway, I was forced out because the Muslim community is making headline again, and as before, it is for a bad reason.

I just want to share my thoughts on the recent incident at Sokoto state, but rather than spill it directly, I'll do so by responding to one of the current post from this section on the front page.

https://www.nairaland.com/7128270/these-red-lines-must-not

OK, so can we insult God? As in G O D, the creator of the universe in monotheistic religions? Pay attention to his language. He makes it sound like Allah is a sort of local or tribal god among Muslims, like Zeus was to the ancient Greeks and Shango is to Yoruba pagans. So, it's like if you insult the creator of the universe, Luk.gaf & his group of like minded Muslims don't care. It is only when you use the Arabic word, Allah, that he cares.

This is a very silly thing, since most Muslims will tell you that Allah is God, the creator of the universe. Allah is the Arabic word for God. In the Bible which Muslims recognize as previous revelations by Allah, there is no mention of "Allah," and what you will find there are non-Arabic terms for God like Yahweh or Elloi.

This is bluffing. Empty bluffing. Nobody can tell whether the Qur'an has been corrupted or not. To do that, you'd have to have on one hand the original copy written by Muhammad or written or by his scribe under his dictation, and then have on the other hand today's copy to compare verse by verse.

As we don't have any extant copy from Muhammad for comparison, we can only make speculations, we can't certify or confirm. Hence when he states that "It has not & CANNOT be corrupted." This demonstrate profound ignorance and borderline stupidity at best.

Till date, there has been no copy of the complete Qur'an traceable to Muhammad. And among the parchments of Qur'an fragments we've uncovered from the late 7th, 8th & 9th century, some of them like the undertext of the Sanaa palimpsest presents significant variation from today's Qur'an.

OK, what is this -

"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: Allah's curse to be on the Jews, they made the graves of their Prophets mosques."

How do you think Christians and Jews will take this? You expect them to respect a man that addresses them this way? Is the Prophet's statement not provocative here?

There are many provocative things that Muhammad did according to your traditional Muslim sources. So, I'm sorry but I don't think anyone should be forced to respect Muhammad. Respect is something that is earned, not demanded.

OK.

Alright, how does anyone manage to contradict themselves so much in the same paragraph. There is nothing like Mohammedanism but Muhammad(not Allah, apparently) is the symbol and most revered figure of Islam. You will not kill if anyone insult Jesus or Abraham but you will kill for Mohammed.

This is Mohammedanism and the orientalists were spot on.

The sahabas didn't think of themselves this way. The sahabas fought and disputed among themselves after Muhammad. Just read Muslim history from the Battle of Camel till the Massacre of Karbala. If you want to call for respect for the sahabas, I get it. But by dubbing them the best generation after Muhammad, you're setting a low bar for Muslims.

The sahabas invaded Persia and other empires they had no business with, cementing Islam's image as a militarily aggressive religion. Even on an individual level, the sahabas were often entitled(like Abu Bakr), aggressive(like Umar), cunning & deceitful(like Abu Huraira) individuals.

So, this entire post which makes front page is abysmal. It seem catered to kindergartens children or low IQ Muslims who would rather learn Islam from quaternary sources like the Luk.gaf instead of delving into the primary sources for themselves. And what makes it worse is the timing.

A young woman was lynched to death for insulting Islam earlier this week. And today, Luk.gaf springs to the frontpage with one post were he tries to damage control for the Muslim community and another post where he exposes his apathy for the victim by speaking about "Red Lines" that musn't be crossed.

Traditionally, in Islam, red lines are things like Idol worshiping, homicide, adultery. Luk.gaf never mention any, he just jumps to respect, respect and respect. Again, respect is something that is earned, not demanded. If you have to demand it, you don't deserve it.

Notice in the entirety of this post, he never once expressed horror or remorse that a young woman was killed. This is unfortunately the attitude of loads of Muslims. They condemned the manner Deborah was killed but they conclude she or anyone who insult the prophet deserves death.

To them the homicide itself is nothing. If you force these Muslims to do one; either kill an innocent man or insult the prophet. They'll kill the man. That's the level of mental derangement & religion induced psychopathy we're dealing with here.

I had this discussion with my own family. And not even one of them could bring themselves to say that it is too extreme to kill someone for insulting Muhammad whether the killing was by a street mob or authorized by a legal sharia court. They couldn't. It was a bitter pill for me.

So, in 2022, this many Muslims still think it is OK to kill someone for insulting their religion, even when they can neither prove the Qur'an is from God or unchanged. It is a terrible thing. And I think it is time to adopt a more drastic approach towards this problem.

You know, I look at Palestine, you have Arab Muslims bemoaning Israeli/Jewish occupation & oppression. I looked at Sweden last month, and you have Muslim immigrants protesting Islamophobia, racism and discrimination. And I'm starting to ask myself, "I'm suppose to empathize with these Muslims?"

I'm suppose to feel bad for and advocate on behalf of a group of people of whom 50 to 75 percent think it is OK to kill someone for insulting their religion?
