IslamTerrorism: Rulings, Distortion And Misconception Of Some Verses In The Quran by Lukgaf(op): 6:19am On May 20, 2022
You would have come across the below verses from the Holy Quran here on Nairaland or elsewhere been circulated by the enemy of Islam alleging that Islam is a not peaceful religion and the Holy Quran (the word of Allah) prescribes killing of people unjustly or preaches terror. This thread seeks to clarify some of these misconceptions about Islam. So, if you are willing to take an objective stand even as a non-Muslim, I advise that you read this to the end.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DBmHGfjXgAU8tyn.jpg

The verses above are either not completed (some parts were cut-off) or have their meaning/translation distorted (Al-Quran was revealed in Arabic and requires a non-Arab who wants to translate or read the meaning to have a depth understanding or high proficiency in Arabic Grammar).

For example, to under how people distort /cut off some verses and their meaning, consider the following statement: "When you see scorpions in your room, Lukgaf, kill them mercilessly and without mercy.". Lukgaf, in this sentence, is being commanded to kill "scorpions" found in his room mercilessly and without mercy. So, this sentence can be distorted to "Lukgaf, kill them mercilessly without mercy". (And Allah has the most accurate and compelling example). You will agree with me that saying "Lukgaf, kill them mercilessly without mercy" makes the sentence incomplete and its meaning distorted. Exactly the same way above verses and their meaning are distorted.

So if we understand this, let me now take you through the meaning of terrorism according to Islam and the west as well as explained and detailed on IslamQA (see here, for a reference)

Terrorism (Arabic irhaab) is a term that refers to scaring others. In and of itself it is neither good nor bad, unless the one who uses this word intends it to mean something and unless we see the consequences of the actions based on it. Whoever says that terrorism (irhaab) in Islam is synonymous with killing is mistaken, because the linguistic meaning of the word does not reflect that. Terrorism refers to scaring, not killing per se. In terms of Arabic usage, words derived from the same root as irhaab (terrorism) appear in the Qur’an where our Lord, may He be exalted, instructs us to fear Him, as in the verse (interpretation of the meaning): “and fear [only] Me [wa iyyaaya farhaboon]” [al-Baqarah 2:40]. He has also commanded us to prepare to face the enemy from whom we expect plots against us and plans to wage war against us. This preparation is intended to scare (or terrify) the enemy so that we will not become easy prey for him. This is stated clearly in the verse in which Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows”

[al-Anfaal 8:60].

The unjust colonialist states use this word in conjunction with Islam, intending thereby to distort its image in the sight of all people. Hence they set up conferences and held seminars, and established research institutes in the name of fighting terrorism, but in all of these efforts there was no discussion at all about these criminal colonialist states who are oppressing the weak Muslims, such as the Hindus and their terrorising of Muslims in Kashmir, or the Russians and their terrorising of Muslims in Chechnya, or the Americans and their terrorising of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Zionists and their terrorising of Muslims in Palestine. Some naïve Muslims have started to use this word to describe anyone they want to fight, and put people off him. They may be right in describing a particular group of Muslims as terrorists, but what about the states that use terrorism, and what about criminal racist organisations that have been spared from having this word used against them, which has become used exclusively in reference to Muslims?!

The rulings and teachings of Islam were prescribed by Allah for the purpose of protecting the honour, life and wealth of the Muslim. For that purpose Islam forbids killing, theft, zina (unlawful sex), and slander, and has ordained severe punishments for anyone who commits those crimes. The punishment may go as far as execution – as in the case of the previously-married zaani (adulterer) – so as to protect people’s honour.

There is a severe punishment for one who terrorises and frightens people, such as gangs of bandits on the highways and those who do similar deeds within the city. They are the ones who strive to spread mischief and corruption on earth. Allah has prescribed the severest punishments for them, so as to ward off their evil and protect people’s wealth, lives and honour. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment”

[al-Maa’idah 5:33].

In fact, Islam went even further, as it forbids the Muslim to scare his brother, even in jest. It was narrated from as-Saa’ib ibn Yazeed that he heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “No one of you should take his brother’s property in jest or in earnest, and whoever has taken his brother’s staff, let him return it.” Narrated by at-Tirmidhi (2160) and Abu Dawood (5003); classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh at-Tirmidhi.

It was narrated that ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn Abi Layla said: The companions of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) told us that they were travelling with the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on a journey. One of the men fell asleep, and some of them went and took some arrows that he had with him, and when the man woke up he panicked, and the people laughed. He said: What made you laugh? They said: Nothing, but we took this man’s arrows and he panicked. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “It is not permissible for a Muslim to scare or alarm another Muslim.” Narrated by Ahmad (23064) and Abu Daawood (4351). Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Daawood.

Secondly:

“Terrorism” (irhaab) in Islam is of two types:

That which is praiseworthy
This refers to scaring an enemy lest he attack the Muslims and occupy their land. That involves being fully prepared, arming themselves with faith, being united, and equipping themselves with weapons. The verse from Soorat al-Anfaal quoted above explains that it is obligatory for the Muslims to do this.

Islam is not alone in this regard. Rather all nations compete in manufacturing arms and equipping themselves with weapons of mass destruction, establishing huge armies, and holding military parades to show off their troops and weapons. All of that is a show of strength intended to scare their neighbours and enemies, lest they think of attacking them.

That which is blameworthy
This refers to scaring those who do not deserve to be scared, Muslims or others whose lives are protected by Islamic law, such as those who have a covenant with the Muslims, those to whom the Muslims have granted protection and safety, and non-Muslims living under Muslim rule (ahl adh-dhimmah)

The Islamic Fiqh Council has defined terrorism as: acts of aggression and enmity carried out by individuals, groups or states by way of transgressing against people (affecting their religious commitment, physical and mental well-being, wealth or honour). That includes all ways of scaring, harming and threatening people, or killing them unlawfully, and all actions that are connected to those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, scaring wayfarers and travellers, acts of banditry, and all violent acts or threats that take place in support of criminal objectives, whether they are done by individuals or groups, with the aim of instilling fear and terror in people, scaring them by harming them, or exposing their lives, freedom, sense of security and well-being to danger. Another type of terrorism is damaging the environment, facilities, public or private property, or exposing some national or natural resources to danger. All of these are ways of spreading mischief and corruption on earth, which Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, has forbidden the Muslims to do in the verse in which He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters”

[al-Qasas 28:77].

Sixteenth session, Makkah al-Mukarramah, 21-26/10/1422 AH -- 5-10/1/2002 CE

In this statement, they pointed out two important issues:

The first issue is refuting the argument of those who describe Islam as being a religion of terrorism. Among other things, this statement said:

The members of the Council have noted that media campaigns are well orchestrated, and based on lies and nonsense, as they are organised by the types of media that are irrational and hostile, which are directed by the Zionist media organisations to stir up resentment, hatred and discrimination against Islam and Muslims, and to make false accusations against the final religion of Allah, foremost among which is the accusation of terrorism.

It became clear to the members of the Council that accusing Islam of terrorism through media campaigns is but an attempt to put people off Islam, as people are showing interest in it and are entering the religion of Allah in crowds.

The members of the Council call upon the Muslim World League and other Muslim organisations, and indeed all Muslims, to defend Islam, whilst paying attention to choosing the best methods that are appropriate to the honour that may be attained by undertaking this mission in the context of refuting the lies against Islam, and the accusation of terrorism. It may be noted that terrorism is a global phenomenon that cannot be attributed to a particular religion or people. Rather it is a phenomenon that stems from extremism of which no modern society is free. They explained that there are different types of extremism, such as political extremism, ideological extremism or religious extremism. Extremism that results from exaggeration about some issues of religion is not limited to the followers of a particular religion. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, mentioned the People of the Book exaggerating about their religion, and He forbade them to do that, as He says in His holy Book (interpretation of the meaning):

“Say, O People of the Scripture, do not exceed limits in your religion beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a people who had gone astray before and misled many and have strayed from the soundness of the way."”

[al-Maa’idah 5:77].

The second issue that the council discussed is terrorism carried out at the level of the state. This is a matter concerning which the global media is silent, and has not exposed the people behind it. Among other things, the council said in a statement:

The Council affirms that there is another type of terrorism, which is terrorism carried out at the level of the state. One of its clearest and most abhorrent forms is the terrorism that is perpetrated by the Zionists in Palestine, and what the Serbs did in Bosnia, Herzegovina, and Kosova. The Council regards this type of terrorism as posing the gravest danger to security and peace in the world, and regards confronting it as coming under the heading of self-defence and jihad in Allah’s cause.

End quote.

Thirdly:

With regard to terrorism perpetrated by the West, it is what we read of and witness of their invasion of weaker states and the plundering of their resources, and what we see of torture, rape and killing, all of which is documented via audio and video media, in documents that cannot be denied. This is a continuation of their historical practice of occupation by means of force, violence and weapons.

What is really strange is that Western states – especially America –have not given a definition of terrorism until now! It is clear that they would implicate themselves by any definition they chose. Therefore they have given this word a vague meaning, to be applied to whoever they decide to accuse of terrorism.

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him) said:

From ancient times, the disbelievers have waged war against Islam, describing it in the worst of terms, in order to put people off it. “They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it.” [at-Tawbah 9:32]. That includes their description of Islam as terrorism and savagery. They forget that terrorism, savagery, genocide, transgression against people unlawfully, and all other blameworthy attitudes in fact belong to the way of the disbelievers and are part of the disbelievers’ character.

The fact that some so-called Muslims have behaved wrongly – either out of ignorance or bad intentions – cannot be attributed to Islam, for Islam forbids such deeds.

The way to protect Islam from this accusation is to explain that the actions of these individuals has nothing to do with Islam; rather these are cases of individuals acting badly, and every Muslim is prone to error; no one is infallible except the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

Al-Muntaqa min Fataawa al-Fawzaan (1/416, question no. 247)

And Allah knows best.
I hope I have cleared some of your misconceptions about these verses and Islam in general. JazaakumLahu khaeran for reading.

2 questions lukgaf, please help me clarify these situations.

What constitutes blasphemy?? Who decides what does?

Surely you know that Mohammed married Aisha at 6 years old, and he had sex with a 9 year old kid.
By terminology, that is PEDOPHILIA, according to the UN human rights charter, if an adult has sex with a child, it is termed STATUTORY RAPE seeing as the victim is unable to give consent. So by law (legally), the person is termed a rapist and child sex offender.

Now having established these 2 facts, it is FACTUALLY, LEGALLY AND TECHNICALLY correct to state that Mohammed was a PEDOPHILE and a RAPIST

So if I called Mohammed a rapist and a pedophile, am I blaspheming?? Is it worth my head or my skin? Literally?

Second, if you had a sister who told you she's a lesbian, what happens to her? What will you do about it?

Please I eagerly await your answers.
Your question is even blasphemous in nature grin. I think that answers question 1.

2. My sister can never be a lesbian.

He doesn't need to answer- I'd do so.

I'd do you 2 better and name 4 Muslims [verified Muslims] who continually slander Christians and Christianity on Nairaland.

4. Local-search "pastor tithe" and you'd see Muslims having a swell time insulting Christianity and Christians. https://www.nairaland.com/search?q=tithe+pastor&board=44

I could go on and on. Muslims slander Christianity daily and they are protected with a separate section for them. They mostly go unchallenged because not everyone wants to swear that oath of allegiance to Allah before commenting in the Islam for Muslims section.
How was my topic here slanders christians and Christianity? I was trying to convey our belief as Muslim about who is Jesus (Prophet Isa)..did I abuse him or your religion like you do to us on Fridays?

You did well researching...

I personally know Gawu as someone who slanders Christians unprovoked here. He’s even the reason I asked Dayo to name 2 because I felt he’ll know him.

The rest, especially the “Local Search” were comments from arguments, possibly reiteration to Christians who’ll never mind their business but to attack them first on this forum. You’ll hardly see Muslims attack Christians on their one. Quote me anywhere, it’s a fact we all know, including you.

And yes, you’re wrong. Seun did the right thing with that oath stuff, else “I too sabi” Christians would have littered Muslim sections with their stupidity and unnecessary slanders.

We know how both religion members react to news regarding the opposite religions online.

IslamThese Are RED Lines That Must Not Be Crossed By Muslims! by Lukgaf(op): 6:03pm On May 15, 2022
The Muslim community, like every other is guided by certain sacred principles which members are obligated to hold high and guard jealously. These sacred principles are RED LINES that must NOT be crossed even by bonafide members of the community. It amounts to sacrilege and desecration of the Muslim faith to do so.

The reason for this strict standards is that these RED LINES are the superstructure upon which the Muslim faith is founded. An attack on them shakes the foundation of Islām to its very root and calls to question the validity of the Muslim faith. It's worse than burning the IPOB flag on the street of Anambra or Imo while making derogatory remarks about Ojukwu/ Nnamdi Kanu. In fact, it is worse than walking into Sambisa during the active days of Boko Harām to challenge Shekau to a fight. Faith is NOT akin to comedy or entertainment. It's what people live for. It's what they hope to reap from in the next life.

Some of these RED LINES are:
1. Insulting Allāh سبحانه وتعالى: An attack on Allāh whom Muslims worship is an attempt to ridicule the basis of their existence and faith. Passing derogatory remarks, making mockery of His names and Attributes, denying His Names and Attributes, comparing Him to His creatures, reducing Him to a mere entity, etc, are some of the things to avoid when describing Him. He is NOT an idol. He's not the Ka'abah that Muslims circumambulate during Tawāf. He is Allāh, to be described ONLY by the attributes that He has given Himself.

2. Desecrating the Qur'ān: The Qur'ān is NOT a creature of Allāh like us humans. It is the eternal word of Allāh, revealed to the Prophet ﷺ through Angel Jibrīl and preserved in its original form since its revelation till date by divine protection. It has not and CANNOT be corrupted in the least. Twisting its meaning, tearing it, burning it, stepping on it, denying its authenticity, etc as we have witnessed bigots do in the past is ridiculous and provocative.

3. Insulting the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ: In recent times, no personality: political or religious has been attacked unjustly and without provocation as Muhammad ﷺ. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the symbol of Islām and its most revered figure. He's NOT the originator or founder of Islām as wrongly asserted by some prominent Orientalists. In fact, there's NOTHING like Mohammedanism in the Islamic literature. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sent to continue the propagation of messages of the previous prophets before him. Allāh says:

قُلْ مَا كُنتُ بِدْعًا مِّنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ

"I am no novelty (either in my person or in the message I have brought) among the Messengers." (Q.46:9)
Just like the Jews and Christians hold Moses and Jesus in high esteem respectively, believing that no one can reach God or attain salvation but through them, Muslims hold Muhammad ﷺ so dearly that not even their parents equal him in reverence. Obedience to him without question is a religious obligation commanded in the Qur'ān. Loving him unconditionally is the key to salvation. Relating with those that love and revere him and severing ties with those who hate and ridicule him, irrespective of their status is a sign of perfection and validity of faith.
Thus, insulting him, making fun of him, reducing him to a caricature, falsifying his statements, deliberate lying against him, etc, are very dangerous lines that must NEVER be crossed.

4. Ridiculing the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ: These were men and women who shed tears, blood and sweat to protect the nascent faith in its advent, learn its principles and practices, preserve and pass it to posterity. The Sahābah represent the best generation of people after the Prophet ﷺ. They recorded and reported the Qur'ān as well as the Prophet's Traditions which form the basis of the Sharī'ah. Thus, doubting their credibility and ridiculing them in whatever form is tantamount to uprooting Islām from its very foundation.

5. Destroying the Masjid: the Masjid (mosque) is the central area designed for the worship of Allāh. It's a holy and sacred place. It's sanctity goes beyond its mere structure. It's a symbolic representation Islām as a religion. Apart from being a worship center, it's an educational institution, a spiritual, physical and moral training ground for the Muslims as well as a rallying point for collective duties in the interest of the faith and the state.

It only takes understanding and respect for a people's cherished and valued interests, love for peace and security as well as desire for harmonious coexistence to maintain civility and decorum around these while interfacing with each other in a multi-faith society. The incessant penchant for disrespecting others' culture and faith needs to be addressed in order to avoid all these unnecessary altercations and bloodshed.

IslamCan You Combine Shawwal Fasting With Al-ayyam Al-beed? by Lukgaf(op): 11:35pm On May 12, 2022
We are still in the month of Shawwal. Are you done with recommended six days of fasting in Shawwal? Also, the 14th, 15th and 16th of May, 2022 are equivalently Ayaamul al beed (white days) when fasting is recommended. Will a person get double rewards if he combines three of the six days of Shawwal with the Ayyam al-Beed?

Praise be to Allah.

I asked our Shaykh, ‘Abd al-‘Azهz ibn ‘Abd-Allah ibn Baz about this matter, and he replied that hopefully he will be rewarded for that, because it is true that he fasted the six days of Shawwal , and it is also true that he fasted the al-Ayyam al-Beed , and the Bounty of Allah is great indeed.

With regard to this particular matter, Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-‘Uthaymin replied as follows:

“Yes, if he fasts six days of Shawwal , he does not have to fast al-Ayyam al-Beed during that month too, whether he fasted the six days at the same time as al-Ayyam al-Beed (the 13 th, 14th and 15th of the hijri month) or before them or after them, because it is true that he has fasted three days of the month. ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: ‘The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to fast three days of every month, and he did not bother whether he fasted them at the beginning of the month or in the middle or at the end.”

This case is similar to that of Tahiyyat al-Masjid (prayer to “greet the mosque” upon entering), which does not have to be done if one prays a regular prayer upon entering the mosque. So if you enter the mosque and pray a regular Sunnah prayer, you do not have to pray Tahiyyat al-masjid…

And Allah knows best.

IslamThese Verses Affirm Tolerance and forbid unjust killings Towards Non-muslim by Lukgaf(op): 11:25pm On May 12, 2022
Below are some of the Quran verses that affirm tolerance and forbid unjust killings toward non-Muslims.

“[w]hoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
(Suratul Maidah verse 32)

“And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."
(Suratul An'am verse 151)

“There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong.”
(Suratul Baqorah)

“And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
(Suratul Al-Anfal verse 61)

“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.”
(Suratul Maidah verse 8 )

“Indeed, those who have believed [in Prophet Muhammad] and those [before Him] who were Jews or Sabeans or Christians - those [among them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.”
(Suratul Maidah verse 69)
IslamHonor Killing, Jungle Justice...not ISLAMIC! by Lukgaf(op): 10:52pm On May 12, 2022
Deborah Samuel, a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto State, was murdered in Sokoto for allegedly insulting Prophet Mohammed. What does Islam say about this type of killing? Is jungle justice or honor killing allowed in Islam? This thread clarifies.

In some countries, honor killing is the traditional practice of killing a family member who is believed to have disgraced the family. Equally, jungle justice can be defined as the capital punishment meted out by individuals without any legal authority on a suspected individual. There are many cases or killing or and other capital punishments that are done on the basis of accusations and speculation, without proving whether the immoral action even took place. Some were killed for the reason that they confessed that: “I killed him/her”, whereas the truth is that they are possessed by Jinn(s). Some have killed their parents in this regards, Subhanallah!

Self-defense is allowed in Islam but it should not be misunderstood for jungle justice. Protecting oneself and one’s honor (like in the case of rape), mind, wealth and religion is a well-established basic principle in Islam. If a person or a vicious animal etc. attacks him, he has to defend himself, or his family or his property, and if he is killed he is counted as a martyr, and the killer will be in Hell - Narrated by Muslim (140).

It was narrated that Sa’eed ibn Zayd sallallahu ‘alayhi wasalam said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The one who is killed defending his wealth is a martyr, the one who is killed defending his family is a martyr, the one who is killed defending his religion is a martyr, and the one who is killed defending his life is a martyr.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1421), al-Nasaa’i (4095), Abu Dawood (4772); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel (708) al-Nasaa’i (4081) and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Nasaa’I, Majmoo’ al-Fataawa (28/540, 541), al-Rawd al-Murabbi’ (p. 677), Al-Mulakhkhas al-Fiqhi (2/443), Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Ibraaheem (11/255, 256).

In Islam, to slap someone’s face and beaten one more that 10 lashes are not allowed except in the case of hadd (capital punishment) approved by the authority (al-Bukhari, al-Fatih, 5/215, Qadaaya al-Lahw wa’l-Tarfeeh p.373, al-Bukhari 6456 and Muslim 3222). Hence, what is harsher cannot be allowed. Ibn Muflih al-Hanbali (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in al-Furoo’ (6/53): It is haraam for anyone to carry out a hadd punishment except the ruler or his deputy. This is something on which the fuqaha’ of Islam are unanimously agreed, as was stated in al-Mawsoo’ah al-Fiqhiyyah (5/280): The fuqaha’ are unanimously agreed that the one who should carry out hadd punishments is the ruler or his deputy, whether the punishment is transgressing one of the limits of Allah, may He be exalted, such as zina, or a transgression against another person, such as slander.

The scholars of the Standing Committee said: The one whose job it is to establish proof of witchcraft and carry out those punishments is the ruler who is in charge of the Muslims’ affairs to ward off evil and close the door to chaos. Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (1/552). Shaykh Sulaymaan al-‘Alwaan: Once proven that a person is guilty of practicing magic, he must be killed. This was proven from a group of the Sahaabah, but it is not for individuals to carry out this hadd punishment without the command of the ruler or his deputy, because carrying out the hadd punishments without the authority of the ruler may lead to mischief, and destroy any sense of security in the society, and undermine the position of the ruler. And other related scholarly views reference includes: Tafseer al-Qurtubi, 2/245, 246, Bidaayat al-Mujtahid, 2/233, Nayl al-Awtaar, 7/295, 296, Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 34/177-178.

My brethren! Refer cases to the relevant authorities, don’t participate in jungle justice act(s) and guide against it.

May Allah grant us understanding of His religion.

IslamMissed Fasts From Ramadaan First Or The Six Days Of Shawwaal? by Lukgaf(op): 6:49am On May 06, 2022
I assume we know about the reward of fasting six days of Shawwaal after Ramadan with reward equivalent to fasting a whole year. You can read more here:

https://www.nairaland.com/7112727/fasting-six-days-shawwaal-after#112565692

What about people who missed some fasts during Ramadan? Are they going to fast the six first or the missed fasts?

If they want to earn the reward mentioned in the hadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), “Whoever fasts Ramadaan then follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime”

IslamFasting Six Days Of Shawwaal After The Obligatory Fast Of Ramadaan by Lukgaf(op): 6:31am On May 06, 2022
Fasting six days of Shawwaal after the obligatory fast of Ramadaan is Sunnah Mustahabbah, not waajib.

But it is recommended for the Muslim to fast six days of Shawwaal, and in this there is great virtue and an immense reward. Whoever fasts these six days will have recorded for him a reward as if he had fasted a whole year, as was reported in a saheeh hadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Abu Ayyoob (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan and follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime.”

(Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisaa’i and Ibn Maajah).

IslamBeware Of Bid’ah: There Is Nothing Special In This Jumu’ah! by Lukgaf(op):
Please note that this Jumu’ah (last Jumuah in Ramadan) is just like any other Jumu’ah of this blessed month. It is not, in any way, unique or special; and all narrations about its uniqueness, excellence or recommended acts of worship are spurious and fabricated. This bid’ah was introduced during the reign of heretic Fatimid of Egypt.

Here are just a few of those spurious narrations:
1. “Whoever performs the five obligatory prayers on the last Jumu’ah of Ramadhaan, they will atone for him whatever he missed of his prayers throughout that year.”

2. “Whoever missed obligatory prayers that he has lost the count of in his life should perform a special prayer in last Jumu’ah of Ramadaan. Whoever performs this prayer and makes this supplication will have his sins forgiven for four hundred years.” Thereupon ‘Ali said, “Four hundred years?!” The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) responded, “It is rather one thousand years!” The people said, “O Allaah’s Messenger, but a man lives for only sixty to seventy years. Who is then going to have the surplus reward?” He answered, “His parents, children, relatives and his town’s people.”

3. The format of this prayer is four rak’ahs in which Al-Faatihah and Surahs Al-Qadr and Al-Kawthar are recited 15 times in each rak’ah. After Tasleem, a supplication, which time would not permit us me to relate here, is then recited.

Imam Ash-Shawkaanee, in his book, Al-Fawaaid Al-Majmoo’ah, have this to say about this narration and its various versions, “It is very clear that this is a fabricated report. I could not find it even in the books in which spurious narrations are purposely compiled. However, it is popular among some people in San’aa who claim to have knowledge and many people act upon it; and I do not know who fabricated it for them. May Allaah disgrace the liars!”

Equally baseless are names given to the last Jumu’ah of Ramadhan such as ‘Jumu’atul- Qhadaa’, Al-Jumu’ah Al-Hazeenah’ or ‘Jumu’atul Fawaait’.

Bottom-line:
The only thing special about the last Jumu’ah of Ramadhaan is: Nothing is authentically reported about its specialness.
Wallaahu ta’aalaa a’lam.

IslamZakaat Al-fitr Is Food, Not Money, And It Is To Be Given To Needy Muslims Only by Lukgaf(op): 5:38am On Apr 29, 2022
Can someone use the money to pay Zakatul-fitr?

Praise be to Allah.

Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with them both) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) made giving a saa’ of dates or a saa’ of barley as Zakaat al-Fitr an obligation for all Muslims, slave and free, male and female, young and old, and ordered that it should be given before the people went out to pray (Salaat al-Eid).”

(Al-Bukhaari, 1503).
Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “We used to pay as Zakaat al-Fitr a saa’ of food or a saa’ of barley (which was their food at that time) or a saa’ or dates or a saa’ of aqit (dried yoghurt) or a saa’ of raisins.” (1506)

From this it is clear that Zakaat al-Fitr must be food, not money, so we must adhere to what has been recorded in the Sunnah. So give one saa’ of whatever is the staple food in your country, such as rice or wheat, for example, on behalf of yourself and each member of your household. (A saa’ is equivalent to approximately 3 kilograms). It is not permissible to give it to anyone except a needy Muslim. If you cannot find anyone in your own country, you can delegate someone else to give it on your behalf in another country. May Allaah help us and you to do the duties that He loves. And Allaah knows best.

IslamRuling On Zakaat Al-fitr And How Much Is To Be Paid? by Lukgaf(op): 5:14am On Apr 29, 2022
What is the ruling of Zakaat al-fitr and how much is to be paid? For the differences between Zakaat al-fitr and Zakaat, see here

Praise be to Allah.

Sadaqat al-fitr is obligatory upon every Muslim who is self-supporting if he has one saa’ or more than he needs of food for himself and his family on the day and night of Eid.

The basis for that is the report narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined zakaat al-fitr, a saa’ of dates, or a saa’ of barley, upon all the Muslims, slave and free, male and female, young and old, and he commanded that it be paid before the people went out to pray.” Agreed upon; this version was narrated by al-Bukhaari.

And Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri narrated: “We used to pay zakaat al-fitr when the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was alive, a saa’ of food or a saa’ of dates or a saa’ of barley or a saa’ of raisins or a saa’ of dried yoghurt.” Agreed upon.

It is acceptable to give a saa’ of the local staple food such as rice etc.

What is meant by a saa’ here is the saa’ of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), which is four times the amount that may be held in the two hands of a man of average build. If a person does not pay zakaat al-fitr, he is sinning, and he has to make it up.

With regard to the hadeeth mentioned, we do not know whether it is saheeh or not.

We ask Allaah to give you strength and to make our words and deeds and yours righteous.

And Allaah is the Source if strength.

IslamThe Differences Between Zakaatul L-fitri And Zakaah On Wealth by Lukgaf(op): 4:44am On Apr 29, 2022
What are the differences between Zakaatul L-fitri And Zakaah On Wealth?

Zakaah (Zakaah on wealth) is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is different from the zakaah that must be paid at the end of Ramadaan (zakaat al-fitr also known as Sadaqatul-fitr).

Towards the end of Ramadan, you are to pay Zakaatul Fitri, do you know this? don't forget, you can only do that before Eid.

May Allah accept it from me and you and make it easy for us(Ameen).

Delaying having children in order to be able to study - Shayk (Dr) Sharaffudeen Gbadebo Raji

Question
If a brother and a sister are legally married but do not wish to bear children (at the moment), how can they go about it?

Answer
Dr Sharof: Why is it that they do not want to have children?

The Congregation: Because of their studies.

Dr Sharof: We seek refuge with Allaah! They should start bearing children with immediate effect. They should stop deceiving themselves. If they continue that way, Allaah may decide to delay them whenever they are ready to start bearing children. Such thing had happened to (many) people; they suffer unnecessary delay at the time they decide to start bearing children. There are situations whereby the brother may be ready to start bearing children, but the sister may say her career will be ruined. They target times when the sister will be on leave or when she will be on holidays for those who are still schooling before she gets pregnant, so that she gives birth during these periods. However, in this case, their decision is to restrain from it because of the sister’s career. The harm with this is that they will have to bite the bullet, especially the sister. Men have a lot of options; if he discovers that you have a problem (with bearing children) he can easily marry a new wife. Na’am!

As for their question regarding what they could do to avoid bearing children, there is no answer to such question. They should start bearing children. Na’am!

IslamRecommended Dua On Laylatul Qodr by Lukgaf(op): 5:32am On Apr 22, 2022
Alhamdulilah. We are in the last ten days of the month of Ramadan. One of these days is Laylatul Qadr - a powerful night that is better than 1000 months (83 years and 4 months).

For the virtues of the night of power and in particular, the last ten days of Ramadan, see here. To know how to seek the great night and suggested practices for this night, check here.

Aaisha (RA) reports: "I said: 'O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) should I find myself the "Laylatul Qadr", what shall I pray ? Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied: say, “Allaahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa fa'fu anni” "O Allah, You are most forgiving, You love forgiveness, so forigve me." (Tirmizi).

IslamWhen Is Laylat Al-qadr And How Should We Observe It? by Lukgaf(op): 5:16am On Apr 22, 2022
Alhamdulilah we are ten days to the end of Ramadan. Laylatul Qadr - a powerful night that is better than 1000 months (83 years and 4 months) is a day among the last ten days of Ramadan. When is Laylatul Qadr and how should we observe it?

Praise be to Allah.

Striving hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan as he never did at any other time, praying, reading Quran and making du’a. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the last ten days of Ramadan came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would stay up at night and would wake his family up, and would abstain from marital relations. Ahmad and Muslim narrated that he used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan as he never did at any other time.

How to observe Laylat al-Qadr
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) enjoined staying up and praying on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever stays up and prays on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” Agreed upon. This hadith indicates that it is prescribed to observe Laylat al-Qadr by spending the night in prayer.

Du’a for Laylat al-Qadr
One of the best du’as that may be recited on Laylat al-Qadr is that which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught to ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Al-Tirmidhi narrated, and classed the report as sahih, that ‘Aishah said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?’ He said, ‘Say: Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibb al-‘afwa fa'fu ‘anni (O Allah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me).”

When is Laylat al-Qadr?
With regard to specifying which night of Ramadan is Laylat al-Qadr , this needs specific evidence, but the odd-numbered nights during the last ten nights are more likely than others, and the night of the twenty-seventh is the most likely to be Laylat al-Qadr, because that is mentioned in the ahadith.

Can Muslims celebrate Laylat al-Qadr?
With regard to innovations, they are not permissible during Ramadan or at other times. It was proven that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever innovates anything in this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected.” According to another report, “Whoever does any action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected.”

We know of no basis for the celebrations that are held during some nights of Ramadan. The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the worst of matters are those which are innovated (bid’ah).

And Allah is the Source of strength. May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and Companions.

So what exactly is the essence of this fasting?
Fasting is supposed to be about self denial from food and pleasure, yet muslims eat more food during their fasting and have more sex.

It's very funny to see how every major food company increases the amount of advertisements towards muslims during the time when they're supposed to be limiting the amount of food they consume.
That's one of the beautifies of Islam
