Remove any accessories you connected to it. E.g. WiFi stick.

Check also that your signal cables have no short circuits. E.g. in the f connectors.

Lyngsat shows symbol rate as 29500 not 30000. I would say use the tps indicated in the post just above yours.

Ummm, ask them to get a real installer.

On srt4955 when entering B codes. There are two buttons, one red one green. When the red button brings the edit menu all is well because the stb will always remember the code. But sometimes the red button refuses to bring up the edit menu, why is that? The green button always brings up the edit menu but the stb forgets the code as soon as you change channel and you have to re-enter it again. Is that normal?

Please l sincerely need your candid advice on which satellite l can access global news channels like CNN, and others including local channels such as TVC news, etc. Sport channels however, not left out if possible but is not paramount.

Kindly note that l have 1.8m srt and 90cm old dstv dish. I'm based in south western part of the country.

to get the best of free to air..their are some satelites you need to keep as back up...and atleast you need 4 combinations to get the best...joy astra 1 has been stable for years ,mbc , ses 5 , among others later nigcomsat.

the funniest and most underated part is 16 east amos which many overlook due to too many french swahili and other channels on amos sat that doesn't broadcast in english.but are you aware that for the past7 years for me 16 degree east has never dissappoint when it comes to african nations cup and world cup and I mean all matches with no exemption.thats why I dedicate a dish for that bird.

like yoruba will say omo buruku ni ojo ti e...meaning the bad child has his or her own good days.


several channels on 16 degree always shows the nations cup, qualifers , and also world cup and funny enough they are channels you don't even watch....crtv ,tfm , ole tv, canal , tvt , so many of them.

as for joy..astra 1 .you guys should blind scan you decoder...

and check for new channel called (channel i) they show all the world cup matches and so far so good its HD.

for newbie you can get connected to free to air in a minute.just buy your decoder on konga or jumia...I reccomend ctytechnologies , ctytek, ctygadgets .their decoder seems to be original so far and hasn't dissappoint people I help buy.check them jumia or konga.

Its important to use correct sat names. This allows people to google things and learn. The sat at 16e is not Amos but Eutelsat 16a. Joy TV is not on Astra 1 but on Astra 2f.

1. Family plugging and unplugging cables too often and damaging them.
2. Wrong house wiring. Have electrician check that the live is live, neutral is neutral and earth is earth. Especially if TV and decoder use different power sockets. Maybe neutral on one is earth on the other.
3. Poor quality hdmi cables.

Is Nigcomsat off the arc or what? On my motorised in Lusaka I have 68e at 97%, yamal at 92% and 36e at 97% but nigcomsat remains red. Maybe the skew is different? Maybe the ECOWAS2 beam has been switched off? I once got it and signal was very strong but now it just refuses to turn green.

I meant, you can use 60 or 90cm dish to track ses5 and eutelsat 7A/B together with one lnb and that having the two sats with one lnb on 1M is almost impossible.

Sounds strange. Impossible to do on a bigger dish what can be done on smaller dishes? Needs more explanation for us to learn.

which one are you refering to is it Stargold or fuji or there is a new lnb known as stargold fuji. Why I ask is that stargold I know is a different lnb while fuji is a different lnb.

I was referring to the lnb in the picture that was posted. Please go back to that picture and try to read what's on it.

Nigcomsat is gradually becoming a shadow of itself lately.

What's happening? I tried over the week end to lock on to the single TP on the sat but failed to hit green.

It is a better decorder than 4669, rather exchange it with 4922 but you have to add more money if it is brand new.

4922 doesn't have good software support. Go for more recent stbs like 4950 or 4962I if you can get it. Go forward not backwards.

Stbs are like wives. If you get a new wife make the effort to understand her. If you want her to be like your former wife you will be unhappy. Like I said I have 4955 and I have never failed to nub a sat with it. If you are not pointed at the correct sat your bars are guaranteed to be 00%.

Yes you can. Make sure you connect to a port marked universal not the one marked unicable.

I should have bought 4950 then. Because I love tracking.

I am told there two versions: SRT 4955 and SRT 4955B. I have SRT 4955 and its a beauty to track with. Signal Quality and strength bars work. I also use it to move my motorised dish as well as automatically switch between a cband and Ku lnbs using diseqc commands. I have however never seen SRT 4955B but i have been told it is smaller than its brother and has been deprived of the sat tracking features. Probably this is the one you bought. The two even have different software at crosat.

If it can handle digital TV signal and not just analogue TV signal it probably can receive your local stations.

Most cband lnbs are rated either 15k or 17k temperature level. Today I found one rated 35k. Under what circumstances would such an lnb be needed? Its a stargold Fuji make.

Location is Lusaka, Zambia. The sat is green 89% S/ 90% Q and channels are scanned in. The problem is unlocking.

I think he meant 4955B the small one with an adaptor. It its that, he's right you can't use it to track. Use another decoder when you hit green, connect the decoder and blindscan (that is if its 4955B)

Oh I see. I Don't know about srt4955B. Never seen one. My decoder is just srt4955. Its also small (compared to srt 4930) and has an external power adapter but I can hunt sats and blind scan with it.

What do you mean he can't use it to track? I have SRT 4955 and I use it to track. Maybe his decoder has a hardware problem that's why the signal quality and strength bars are not showing.

Good evening! to everyone in the house. I need someone to educate me on this: what is the difference between these two transponders:12728h 30000 5/6 and 12728h 30000 3/4 ?

The difference is the 5/6 and 3/4. These are called FEC values or forward error correction values. The data transmission language has an error correction key built into the data which allows the decoder to detect when some data has been lost on the way and guess what that date was and replace it without asking the source. This technique us useful in one way transmission systems. I don't know what logic goes into choosing 5/6 or 3/4 but from the receiving end I know that signals with bigger FEC values like 5/6 tend to be weaker and harder for decoders to lock than smaller ones like 1/2.

Open the plastic cover and check that the sensor cables are properly connected. If screws were not tight they can come lose with vibration.
